IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts: Resort in decline

Where to start: This resort is rated at around 4 stars and shoud be downgraded to 2 stars at best. We stayed Jan 18, 2015 to Jan. 25, 2015 and were a group of 9 Adults and 2 infants. 7 of the 9 including the 2 babies got a virus that had us very Ill for 2 or more days and after chatting with many of the other guests on the resort it was affecting many others to the point where it became mandatory to use hand sanitiser(Purell) when entering the buffet Restaurant. Seen kids being held over garbage [... read more] cans being ill. Now about the Resort: Staff for the most part were fairly friendly. Most of our group were housed in the villas and although they appeared nice from the outside they were far from it once inside. Leaking or non working AC's lots of mold on the shower stalls and no ventelation for the washroom areas left the rooms with a musty/moldy smell. One of the couples we were with had to argue to be moved, 2 times for no working AC and a 3rd time for AC water leaking all over the floors. We asked to be moved twice to the Hotel because the mold was affecting my breathing/sinuses and had to bribe the front desk in or to get into one of the hotels with were much more recently renovated but far from Fancy. No face clothes, tissues and the worst Beds I have ever slept in. The food was not great and they often sprayed Pesticides just before the food was taken out in the buffet restaurant. The booze was watered down, but at least nightly stage shows were good. Upon leaving everyone at least 3 checkpoints with long lines at the Airport and forced to pay $20 per person(even for Babies) Everyone we spoke to on the plane ride home were happy just to be returning to Canada, how much fun does it sound like we had.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice resort.

Nice resort but dated. The rooms, pool and grounds were clean. The buffet food was good and kept at proper temperatures. The staff were all friendly. A la cartes were very good as well. Overall a great vacation.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Average

First, they did as requested and gave us room in section 900 on first floor and with king size bed. Also, they waited for us for transport so no problem about that. Good things: Beach is big and you can find place even at 9AM. There is sun and shade, as you wish. They clean room ok. Not so good things: Swiming is not nice as sand become sharp rocks as you enter water and there was a lot of dirt in the water. Swiming pool was very, very cold. Food was not good at all. Other stupid thing is that you have to come morning at 7 to book restorant for that same evening and you can not do it for next day. Internet was also veru stupid as you can log in once a day and use it for 90 minutes. Once you log out you are done for that day. So we paid US$35 per week to have internet all the time. Our water in the sink was spraying all around and remote for TV did not work. Also, we did not have any blankets in the room. After several requests, we got blanket next day, remote was fixed after 5 days and water was never fixed. All together, Gran Vantana from last year was chipper and better and would recommend it over this one any time. Real rating for this hotel is 3+*. But still, we had good time as it's more important with who you are then where you are :) One more thing, there are sand bags so everybodys lower part of legs were bitten a lot. There were some mosquitos but not so bad. We had only two days of rain so we were lucky.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great value for money

Beautiful hotel. Well maintained. Buffet food was good. A la carte restaurants were disgusting. Bars don't stay open late enough and not well located with respect to large pool. There weren't enough chairs at all. Great daily and nightly entertainment. Great location in the middle of the city.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Not a 4-Star Resort

They said the rooms were renovated, so you would think new fixtures, tubs, tiles furniture etc. But no. The only thing that was renovated was that a hole was made between rooms to make 2 rooms into a suite. Big gap under one of the doors let in a few critters. Salamanders we didn't mind, but the big hug bug that leaped out of the dresser drawer (looked like a cockroach) freaked us out! The food, some good, some bad. Had the leaf salads, not a good idea. Not washed with the bottled water, we all  [... read more]got sick. Once the inspectors had done their inspection, food and cleanliness went out the door! The service, was not top notch, nor 4-star. We did find the one guy in the buffet, Eddy, always happy and smiling and quick with service, he was great! The rest, even if you left a tip, you still didn't get good service. The cleaning ladies we had in our room were ok. But still didn't receive face clothes like we asked time and time again. Our room ceiling leaked, no help there either. Kept saying we will send someone. Never happened. The adult entertainment and children's entertainment was good. Loved Rosa! She was awesome with the kids! The beach was ok , not much seaweed, and that's good. The pool never looked like it was cleaned. Always had sand in it, even first thing in the morning. For the money, we rate it a 3-star.

Blau Natura Park Resort: Great time!

We just returned from a vacation at Natura Park late in January. The weather was spectacular and we enjoyed our stay very much. The service was excellent at this hotel and the buffet for each meal had great variety and excellent food. For the price of this resort we thought it was a great value. If you want some of the things that the other more higher rated resorts you will need to pay more. We wanted a beach vacation with good all inclusive service. Our only real knock on this place is that the pool closed at 6:00 pm and we really would have enjoyed a swim after dinner. We would definitely go again. What you get for the price you pay here is great value! Beach front area and pool activities were great!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Amazing people and resort

When we go on holidays we never go back to a place twice as there are so many out there we want to experience, BUT this one we will return to! Being adult only is the first plus and not too big a resort is good too. It was very clean all the time and if there was anything mechanical that went wrong, they were there almost immediately. It would have been nice to have crispy bacon, some shrimp and some pickles. The food at the a la cartes were very good! The beach, beds, staff and animation team were all great! The only thing we didn't like were the lounges by the pool, THEY were dangerous and uncomfortable. I saw many people topple over if they happened to sit on the end of the lounge. So sit carefully and in the middle, never on the end. All in all we had a GREAT holiday!

Excellence Punta Cana: The most beautiful resort we have ever been to.

This hotel was amazing, service is exceptional, grounds beautiful and the staff went over and beyond to make our vacation the best ever! We would thank Luis at the main bar, the staff at the beach cabana rental, as well as several others. From arriving to departing our trip was easy and everything flowed so well. We loved that you did not need to make any reservations for any of the restaurants so no rushing from the beach to get ready for dinner.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing resort

Food was amazing, Japanese, Mexican and Brazilian... Yummy! beach was beautiful. The entertainers work so hard and did a great job. Popeye, chocolate were awesome! The room were perfect, nice and clean and great view of the pool. Drinks were delicious! We would go back anytime!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: rundown

resort staff was rude food was bland rooms were rundown in my opinion far too many stairs for handicapped guests as all food was up or down stairs including buffet which had groundfloor access but was always locked even when requested to use locals run the place on weekends

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fabulous!

Very clean, amazing people. Food was alright...maybe I'm just pickier than most. Big resort, with many places and things to do. Must get a beach chair early, or you won't be sitting at the beach. Water was gorgeous.

Grand Palladium Palace: Amazing resort

Everyone was so friendly, treated you like family. The pool was beautiful, lobby was comfortable to relax and have a cocktail. The food was a variety of flavor, we enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Thank you

Blau Natura Park Resort: Excellent resort

This is a gorgeous, open-air resort surrounded by lush vegetation, exotic birds, and even a feral cat colony. The rooms are large and clean and the staff is wonderful. An excellent experience all around.

Blau Natura Park Resort: Worth staying at this Blau Natura Park Punta Cana

Blau Natura Park is a decent resort with above average food, a number of bars (along the beach and on the grounds), a clean pool, incredible landscaping with a variety of wildlife (mostly birds), white sand beaches, clear turquoise water, palm trees and the hot Punta Cana sun. Drawbacks: Dated accommodation (my room was musty from mold), actual keys are required to enter rooms and safes (as opposed to cards/codes), beach/pool towel exchange service was inconsistent leaving guests frustrated at t [... read more]imes. Tip: If you are a couple, upgrade your room at check-in for approx. $400 USD and you can get a beautiful vista of the beach and pool area (my friend did it - you won't regret it). Ask for room 2246. Final notes: Blau Natura Park should exclusively be sold as a couples/family resort. I was with friends - all adults. Although we enjoyed each other's company there wasn't an opportunity to meet new people and in the evenings we felt a little restless (there was family entertainment but no nightlife, i.e. dance clubs). I can't really comment on the resort activities because I didn't take part, but there really isn't much to see in the immediate area surrounding the resort except for some of the historical buildings in Santo Domingo, but it's a very long bus ride so you may just want to stay put.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Excellent in everyway

Very clean rooms, nice location, beach cleaned everyday, great staff, Compact setup so you were close to everything, lots of space for relaxing in shade or sun, great activities, buffet different every night, Beach area cleanest I have seen in Puerta Plata

Be Live Grand Bavaro: Grounds were great,

Rooms were decent, we upgraded and that was a waste of money as when we downgraded our room was nicer. The FRONT DESK STAFF was a DISASTER*** Check in was over 2 hours, the front desk staff was very confused and not friendly. The check in was a disaster, and then we went back the next day to down grade as the people who didn't upgrade had nicer rooms and that took another few hours and not even sure we have been refunded yet. They would not give us receipts I had to wait another 2 hours to expla [... read more]in I want a receipt and then when we checked out in stead of giving me my refund they tried to charge me a second time for the upgrade that I cancelled. We all felt the grounds were good, and rooms decent however spent half our vacation arguing with the front desk about different things.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Breathtaking Resort

The resort is gorgeous! They do an amazing job maintaining the whole resort. The staff is incredible, they go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The food was delicious. The rooms are amazing, the only complaint I have is trying to find a place to sit by the pool. Especially if you want an umbrella. There doesn't seem to be enough going around. We noticed people would put towels on a couple of loungers to claim them and then never even show up the whole day. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing Resort !!!!!

I travelled to this resort from Jan16-23 2015 Such Beautiful well groomed grounds. The entertainment staff were excellent always keeping you engaged. The Michael Jackson show and the Circus acrobatic show are the best. The food was always fresh and plenty to find to eat, the al la cartes were very delicious especially the Takara ( Asian ) The rooms are all renovated and the cleaning staff are very friendly. Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Awesome resort

When we first got there we were greeted with a cold towel and a refreshment drink. The staff were so friendly the lobby was clean. The beach was amazing. However the rooms weren't the spotless and little on the older side. We were asked several times have we booked our dinner reservations and is everything good. I would go back to this hotel
