Grand Bavaro Princess: We loved it!

The hotel is beautifully kept. The rooms are clean and really cool. We did not upgrade and had absolutely no issue with our room or anything else. The staff is friendly, the a la carte dinners were all amazing. (we did them all except El Pescador) We also did the Lobster Feast which is worth.every.penny!! We absolutely recommend this resort to everyone!!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Outstanding Resort

Facilities were very well maintained, rooms were very nice. Pool area was large, with plenty of chairs. Beach was fantastic. Only negative feedback was the limited reservations in the a la carte restaurants. Buffet was great though.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Vacation

My daughter and I spent one week at the Be Live Collection Marien in Puerto Plata and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would rate this resort just under 5 stars probably a 4 1/2. I will review our holiday according to the following categories: 1. Flight: We flew with Canjet Airlines and overall we had a good flight. The only negative factor is that we flew to Punta Cana where some passengers departed and others boarded. We then flew to Puerto Plata which overall meant we arrived later than we [... read more] thought we would. Originally when we booked the flight it was to be a direct flight to Puerto Plata but Canjet changed the itinerary later. I can see their point since the plane was always half full and there probably was not enough for two direct flights to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. 2. Room: We had a standard room with two double beds and a terrace view. The room had a mini bar, coffee maker, TV, shower and tub and A/C. The mini bar had a bottle of water, two cans of beer and two bottles of pop. After tipping the maid $5 she kept the mini bar well stocked throughout the week. The building we stayed in was next to the lobby and close to the pool. All of the buildings are well situated throughout the resort. It took us less than 5 minutes to walk anywhere in the resort. 3. Grounds: Exceptional. The outdoor landscaping was beautiful; very tropical. The whole resort was kept in excellent condition and was spotlessly clean. 4. Pool - A large pool divided into sections. Its not too deep which is nice. Lots of people around the pool each day and it was hard to find a palapa or chair if you waited too long in the morning. People would leave their towels on their chairs to make sure no one could take it. A sign pointed out this was not allowed but it wasn't enforced. We decided not to sit at the pool until late afternoon when it wasn't as busy and we had no problem finding a shady spot. 5. Beach - Very wide with no seaweed in front of our resort. My daughter and I walked a long way down the beach past some other resorts and I have to say the best beach area is in front of this resort. We usually had no problem finding a beach chair in the shade since we both don't like to sit in the direct sun for too long. There are beach vendors that will come up to you and try to get you to buy something. They will persist but a firm and polite "no thank you" is all that's needed. 6. Food: There is one buffet restaurant and three al a carte's. You have to make a reservation for the al a carte's. The Brazilian was my favourite. They will bring you long skewers of steak, chicken, pork etc and you can have as much as you want. The Mexican was very good as well. The Gourmet was nice and formal and the food is good there too. We ate breakfast and dinner as well at the Buffet and they offer a wide selection. I missed my Canadian bacon though for breakfast. They only served it one morning. Overall I would rate the food at this resort as very good. 7. Service: Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. You can tell that they work hard and take their jobs seriously. No problem conversing in English. 8. Weather: We were there from January 9th to 16th. The first three days it rained periodically throughout the day and the sun would come out for awhile and then it would rain again. After that for the last four days it was fantastic weather; beautiful and sunny all day with a nice breeze. Evenings were very comfortable. 9. Excursions: There are a number of excursions you can book at the resort. My daughter and I took the catamaran ride which provided a lunch and drinks while sailing along the coast. It makes a couple of stops where you can snorkel in the reefs and view the tropical fish. Also we took the tour of the city of Puerto Plata. They take you up a lift to the top of the 2nd highest mountain in the Dominican. You will have some breathtaking views of the city and the coast. You will also visit the rum factory (we bought some rum and it was incredibly inexpensive). You will also visit the Amber Museum and the old fort that used to guard the city as well as be able to do some shopping. We really had a wonderful vacation here. Would I go back to Puerto Plata? Yes. Would I choose another resort? Not very likely. This was a beautiful resort and I would return there for sure if I could.

Occidental Punta Cana: Love the Occidental Grand Punta Cana

I have been to the Occidental four times now and thoroughly enjoy myself. The service is excellent and you really get to know the employees as this is a small resort and very comforting. The only thing I wish they would start doing some upgrades on the rooms. We have stayed in building 26 each visit and the rooms are really starting to show their age. We had a bath one night and no sooner did we let you the water the gentlemen from the downstairs room came running up because the water was going  [... read more]into their room. As for the Punta Cana area I have seen tremendous upgrades in the infrastructure. I am very happy to see the upgrades being done as the Dominican is a beautiful island and I will keep going back as much as I can. It feels like my second home.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Amazing Resort

All areas were very clean, grounds very nice. Awesome service . Rooms cleaned, towels supplied and Refrigeraters stocked daily. Public wasrooms very clean. Beach service for the bar was awesome. I will return.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Beautiful and friendly resort, very clean

Our first time at this resort and found it very clean in our room, public areas all eating areas. Wonderful friendly, helpful staff. We were a bit disappointed in the entertainment, except for the Dancers they were amazing, so was the activities around the pool.

Grand Palladium Palace: Exceeded Expectations, Debunked any Bad Reviews

Hotel, room, pools and beach were all gorgeous, food (especially restaurants) was delicious, entertainment crew is excellent! We relaxed AND had SO much fun participating in different things every day and night. From our unexpectedly wonderful oceanview Loft Suite to the excellent service from every single happy staff member, we had no trouble debunking every bad thing we had read on reviews of the resort prior to our trip. Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Awsome Resort

We stayed from January 11-18/15. Four of us went for our birthdays and our doors had ribbons and balloons on them and balloons on the bed and curtains. Nice touch. We booked the gardenview room which was nice but I didn't really like the sink outside exposed to the room. The toilet and shower were separate. We were fine in gardenview. No reservations required for al a carts except for the Japanese which we went to twice because it was so good! All the restaurants were good and the service was great. The French was very elegant, the American was casual....great ribs there, and the Italian was good too. Still, Spice, the Japanese was our favorite. Great show too. Food at buffets were great too. Nice selections. There are carts to take you to the main lobby if you don't feel like walking but we like to walk. It's a short walk which is nice and on the way at the bridge are turtles, fish and wildlife in the water that you can feed bits of bread to. They see you coming and look up at you. So cute! It was nice to have our own pool and bar when you wanted to get away from the main area. Much quieter. Beach was nice but had some seaweed. The water was actually warmer than the pools. Drinks served at the beach too. Main pool and area was very nice. Lively too. Games, foam parties and entertainment. Entertainment was fantastic At night. Circus show was great, and they had a 5D trailer that you could go in and it's like riding a roller coaster. The seats move....like your at Disney. Pretty cool. All in all we had a great time. Weather was 82 all week. No complaints there! Just go, relax and enjoy. Would defiantly go back.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: amazing people

we have stayed at the royal golden side of this resort in the past years we tried ambar time the resort is amazing the people are friendly always ready to get you what ever you need to make your stay comfortable the resort is cleaned and is always maintained Juan who served us our mimosa every morning with a greeting and a big smile. the food was very good and always a big selection well decorated. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful Resort

The grounds of the resort were spectacular, well kept, with gardeners working every day. The room was clean, bright and comfortable, ample towels and toiletries. The buffet was very good, not my favorite way to dine because the food is not hot enough for me!

We had gardenview but could still see the beach and ocean from our balcony due to layout of buildings. *Pool area was very beautiful, spacious with lots of chairs. Didn't have to rush to get one ever. Pool bar great too. *Beach is narrow due to all the palm trees but wider on the Gran Bahia Principe side. Sand is powdery brown. Water is murky in most of the bay due to sediment run-off from river up the coast. Tons of chairs here to pick from. Amazing sunsets though! *Part of Bouganville package is unlimited ala carte dinners. We ate at 4 of 5 .. garden(large steaks!)(very good!), Mediterranean(good), Japanese(okay), and gourmet (very good!).... Italian was the other. *Our buffet was very good!!! Huge selection for every palette. Every night was a theme ie American, Italian, Dominican ...Salads were healthy and crisp! meats, fish, poultry(hot/cold), tons of side dishes (hot/cold). Lots of fruit to choose from and desserts too. *Staff all around were excellent!!!! Friendly if not very friendly! Constant service in the restaurants and pool area. Entertainment a mix of the usual hokey island stuff during the day and evening but fun to get involved! *Executive 9 hole Par 27 golf course just outside the resort. Cost $27.00US which included round, clubs, balls, pull cart. Longest hole is #9 at 218yds. Tees, fairways and greens in pretty good shape! Book and pay at resort and they take you over or get p/u by golf course personnel. There is an 18 hole under construction not ready for another 1-2 yrs. *We did the Catalina island snorkeling excursion. Island was beautiful, snorkeling was good but rough waters on our day. NoliTour price $115.00US. We booked through the Bahia resort tour group at the pool area (bartered the price)and paid $83.00US each for 4. We will definitely go back!!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful place, great valued holiday.

Loved the room plenty of storage, very clean wonderful maid service. Large pool, great for families. Loads of chairs at pool and beach. service at the bar wonderful, not cheap when it comes to pouring drinks. Very friendly staff, at the bars and restaurant, and service desk. I would go back there in a minute. Loved it.

Grand Palladium Palace: Beautiful resort

The rooms were very clean and the grounds were kept very well. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. We were very pleased with this resort from the waiters,the tour guides and any other staff we came in contact with.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

The resort was great, takes a few days to learn the whole area. Buffet is ok, I'd suggest the a la carte restaurants. Staff is friendly, at times were a little inappropriate but overall good. Beautiful all around resort.

Occidental Caribe: 3rd time at this resort beautiful and amazing

This has been our third time at this resort and still amazing...grounds are clean with no bugs, the beach is where we spent most of our time from 8am until around 5pm and it was always clean and no people bugging us to purchase things. Food was excellent at all places that we ate. Service amazing even when we asked to change our room to the king sized room instead of our double bed they were friendly and courteous gave us a chance to look at the room and make sure it was up to our standard befor [... read more]e switching it and it was. The layout of this resort is great as it is more wide than long so great spots on the beach available with plenty of sun for those who worship it as well as plenty of shady spots for those who are fair like myself and all still with an amazing view of the ocean. From the room its maybe a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Pools were always nice and clean and they have enough variety of them you can be at the party pool(the one with the bar) or the tranquil adult pool or even the children friendly pool without being overcrowded anywhere. The room are nicely cleaned everyday with nice sliding glass doors that close properly as well as comfortable beds with comfy pillows and sheets that fit properly. I would and have recomended this resort to everyone.

Hotel is ok, our room is clean, right place to relax and unwind. You don't get bored, a lot of things to do. A lot of the staff don't speak English but they are so friendly. It is a 24 hour snack bar i like it..

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: OUSTANDING RESORT

THE RESORT WAS VERY CLEAN, PEOPLE GREAT, FOOD GREAT, WEATHER GREAT, LOTS OF ACTIVITY, BEACH WAS BEAUTFUL, IT IS VERY NICE THAT THE RESORT HAS MANY DIFFRENT AREAS FOR YOU TO JUST SIT AND RELAX. FIGHTS WE ON TIME.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Very boring resort and overrated beach!

Hotel room: nice and spacious and grounds beautiful, love the wildlife Maid service: very good – rooms cleaned by noon Dining: good – good selection of fruits, very fresh Coffee: The worst coffee – they only have coffee machines that break down at least once a day and the line ups at breakfast are horrendous! Why would the DR who are known for their coffee serve such sludge! A la carte restaurants: terrible reservation system – have to line up by 9:00am everyday to reserve that night and [... read more] often if you went by 9:15 – full-up (had to be there by 8:30, very long line-up) They have quite a few annoying rules at this hotel – cannot take even a cup of coffee out of the buffet restaurant, cannot take any food out of the beach sports bar and the staff spend hours chasing people who don’t know the rules! The pool bar is closed in the evening - only 1 bar opened most nights. The bar at the beach party does not open until 10pm even though the party starts at 9:30 and all the guests are waiting. We travel a lot and have never encountered this attitude – the management as well as Jimmy the Sunwing representative need lessons in customer service – should please customers first if they want them to return and after talking to other guests - they will not. The entertainment from 7pm to 10pm is non-existent except one night a week (a Michael Jackson show). It was very quiet and boring in the evening and even the shows at 10pm were a hit and miss. Do not go for 2 weeks as we did and go preferably with other couples because there really is nothing to do in the evening. We travel alone usually and love to dance under the stars - not at this resort and it's unfortunate because they have a beautiful café-style set up by the pool that would be great for dancing, even to piped-in music. We suggested it to the manager but we’re ignored, so we’ll never return – I guess they don’t care! Bavaro beach: What an overrated beach that is! What A DISAPPOINTMENT. It is the dirtiest beach we've been on in the islands! So many weeds in the water and even though they clean continuously it is always dirty the first 15 feet in the water and the water is very muddy and choppy and not only at our hotel. The beach at this hotel is much too shady and there are way too many trees. Everyone is always trying to find some sun and having to move chairs around - very annoying. Yes you can walk for miles but it is dirty and also very windy, the whole 2 weeks we were there. Maybe it's the time of year and if so, don't go in January.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Unhappy Customer

This hotel is definitely not the 4.5 or 5 star that it claims to be! I arrived Saturday afternoon and by the time I woke up Sunday morning I had a bacterial infection from the food already. I was sick the entire week I was there, and was unable to enjoy the food/alcohol. On top of this, I found cauliflower worms in the cauliflower/cheese dish at the buffet. The kitchen staff was apologetic and they sent me a bottle of champagne and chocolates to my room to apologize for the incident. The AC wasn [... read more]'t working in our room and we called twice to have it repaired. Both times, the staff said it was fixed and working, but it never did. It didn't go below 25 degrees the whole week. The beach was a disaster with piles and heaps of seaweed coating the shore and the ocean itself, so we were only able to swim a couple of times. This should have been something that we were told about ahead of time - the other resort further down the beach had no seaweed and the water was clear/clean. Overall, the staff was very friendly and we received good service, but the resort itself was not what it claims to be. I will NEVER return to this resort again.

Punta Cana Princess: Fantastic vacation!

Clean, spacious, well kept rooms. Friendly & attentive staff. Good assortment & quality of food in buffets and a la cartes. Available food & drink 24 hous a day. Nice beach (a little cramped - palapas a little too close together) and water a little rough (due to a storm) Would enjoy seeing it without a preceeding storm!
