Husband and I just returned from a week at this resort - we really liked it it was more on the casual side which is what we were looking for our room was a el beso swim up (adult only) it was great our housekeeper was fantastic - mini fridge consisted of bottles of water 1 can each flavour pop and generally 2 beer we left a note with small Tip and requested more beer daily the amount varied from 3 4 or 6. There’s a snack bar at the el beso pool too was closed a couple times in our week. No towels or clothes are allowed to be hung in balcony you will get a letter or visit asking to remove. This resort is not known for the beach it’s not very wide and there are massive black sandbags on shore to stop erosion - the beach is busy so you need to go early. There is no lack of dining at this resort although a couple places you do need to make reservations day of either on the app or at the main buffet counter. The food was good we had no issues. Staff in all areas were great. There are a couple Designated smoking areas - ppl were smoking off to side at adult Pool. There are spider monkeys at this resort which was cool To see but you need to be there at certain times also depends on how hot it is they hide in trees when too hot out. There’s a cart shuttle to help pp get back and forth we only used once the resort was very walkable and it we found wasn’t as stretched out as some are where you are constantly walking long distances. Be wary of the shopping tour that may be included in travel package it is advertised as 5th avenue but has a jewelry and tequila stop first which are only to sell you things and ends with van dropping off in random Parking lot away from 5th avenue with no direction and you will be told to be back in couple hours or will leave without you - this company should be giving out maps not just leaving tourists in a unknown area with threats of leaving without you - not recommended - cancun airport was a disaster they are not Manned at immigration for many planes landing at same Time the wait with thousands of Other ppl took us over 2 hrs at just immigration booths - pack your patience

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: A decent 4 star resort

My husband and I stayed at the adult-only El Beso side in mid-April in a prestige ground level room in building 2 and here are the pros/cons of the resort: Pros: - SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING EVERYWHERE! Best I've had. - Spacious, updated room with large patio and lots of quiet and peaceful surroundings - pools are beautiful and we could always find a chair - grounds are kept up beautifully - close to the airport Cons: - beach was full of smelly sargassum (seaweed) and the ocean was ro [... read more]ugh and appeared "dirty" from the seaweed. The resort cleans it up a few times a day but it doesn't help much due to the massive volume of seaweed. We did not use the beach at all for this reason, but the hotel has great beach chairs and shade. This is clearly not the resort's problem so this won't be reflected in my review. - food was not great and I've been to 12 different caribbean all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, DR, Cuba, Jamaica, Aruba and Nevis. Received raw chicken at one a la carte (like actually raw on the inside), and a blue rare steak at the italian restaurant when I ordered medium. Buffet was not great, and I enjoyed the food much more at a couple of other 4.5 star resorts in Mayan Riviera previously - drinks aren't great...liquor is watered down (we did several taste tests with no mix) and I did not enjoy many of my drinks

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Consistent

Been here 4 times now. Being the older resort out the other 5 it’s kinda showing its wear. But service and amenities are still very good. Lots of beach to walk. Buffet is pretty decent. Japanese a la carte is a must.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Not impressed

There was four of us and we all got sick not sure if it was the food or the drinks. Even one of the workers said a lot of the staff are getting sick too. We tried to purchase medication but was all sold out at the resort store. What does that mean? Decide for yourself… There was construction going on at one of the restaurants which was right beside the pool and beach. Noise all day long every day we were there and we were there for 10 days. We tried moving away from the construction but then w [... read more]e ended up by the pool where all the loud music was. Good thing is the staff was very friendly and the resort was very clean. We won’t be going back.

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Stayed at a better resort

It's an older hotel, but it was clean, grounds was well taken care of. Pool was boring with elevator music, until the entertainment had a game going. Then back to boring music. Buffet food was Mediocre. Beach was terrible so many rocks bring water shoes. Entertainment at night was amazing.

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Mediocre

Nice hotel, clean but service wasn't great, they were not very accommodating, pool was boring, and buffet food was not great. A couple of the resturants were ok. Overall no bad but not great............

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great resort but food not so good

The resort was really nice, entertainment was amazing and the pools were great! We were in Diamond Club so we utilized the pools in that area the most. Entertainment was amazing and there was lots of things to do. For a 5-star resort, the food was not that great. The a la carte restaurants were not great. Rio was the only decent one and we ended up eating there 3 out of the 7 days we were there. Buffet was better than the restaurants. For a 5-star, the food should be a lot better. Probably woke up 5+ times a night due to people walking, talking, things rolling, people deciding to randomly knock on doors for fun or stomping around. Overall, it was a great resort for entertainment and all of the activities but the food was not good.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Barcelo Maya Tropical

Great resort for couples and families. Lush grounds, Great pool areas and a good beach. Food was great, both the buffets and the ala carte restaurants were very good. Lots of choices and very fresh food. Staffing was just right, enough but not in your face. Even though the resort was sold out there were enough chairs around the pool or at the beach for everyone.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: You get what you pay for

This resort was generally ok- decent for what we paid. The food was great and the pools were beautiful. But the beach is unswimmable due to being so muddy rather than sandy. Also the rooms smelled quite musty the whole time. Also when I went to check out the person at the front desk told me that because I had lost my one room key I had to pay 30$ US, which I later found out was not true and I’m assuming he just pocketed that money. Very disappointing.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great choice

Everything was great! Beach is great, water is clear, can do some snorkelling as well. Pool is great. Kids pool area with slides is amazing. Food was very good. A big variety. Service is great too! Rooms are nice! Very clean. Just a bit far from airport.

Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Had a wonderful trip

We were very happy with this resort! Super friendly staff from check in, to restaurants and housekeeping services. The resort is maintained well with staff always somewhere or another cleaning. We especially loved the variety of food and top shelf alcohol available at the Rosewood and snacks at the preferred club. We cannot wait to come back!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome resort

Like everything about this resort, had good experience here two years in a row, would definitely recommend to others. Only complain is the streakhouse, food was good but wait times were notably slower than the others. Very nice having access to the 3 other resorts

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Another great visit

This was our 4th time visiting since it opened. We have much more good than bad. The good/great: the food is plentiful and very good. There is a wide assortment of options, and we didn't need to snack as we ate so well. Upgrading to El Beso is worth it as you can have made to order breakfast at Blue Moon. We enjoyed fresh pastries, eggs Benedict, etc. The drinks are good, bartenders great. Cecilia at the El Beso pool remembered what we drank and always had a smile for us. Being able to see the  [... read more]monkeys almost every day and have them eat out of your hand and let you pet them was great! Note, they only like bananas, so grab from buffet. Herman from the El Beso cafe was awesome! David from the buffett was great! Rooms are clean and spacious. The so/so: for some reason, towels seem to be the hot commodity. We had one of ours stolen from the pool, were standing across the pool at the time. The front desk wanted to charge us $100, sent us on a wild goose chase to another desk, then when asking to speak to the manager, they gave us a card. The next morning, staff took our towels while we went to breakfast. We started leaving hats & books on chairs after that. There was always lots of chairs. We will be back. The Daisy waterpark is amazing for kids and the entertainment for the kids looked great. Our granddaughters would love it.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Secrets Akumal

Excellent resort. Beautiful grounds. Fantastic service. Great food. Lots of variety and things to do. Loved this place so much that after we returned home, we went back 2 weeks later. Our rep Beth at Tripcentral was terrific

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Fantastic resort and a wonderful vacation!

We spent five nights in April, staying at Iberostar Maya. The food was amazing, and there were tons of activities to keep us entertained and occupied for the entire stay! I would go back in a heartbeat! The ocean was windy, but we enjoyed jumping on the waves. The waterpark was wonderful for younger kids. We ate at a restaurant each night of our stay; the best restaurant was Greek "Lemon and Spices," followed by Asian and Seafood. The steakhouse was okay.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Resort appears to be ‘tired’.

Lovely grounds and staff very friendly. This is the fourth time we stayed here and we notice that standards have lowered. Less staff? Rooms very comfortable and serviced well. Grounds crew kept everything neat and trim. However, Buffet dining showed less attention. Food not replenished in timely manner. Without fail, main courses, meats and vegetables were often down to last few servings and dried out. We still had a wonderful time and enjoyed the pools, grounds, and weather. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Bahía Príncipe Coba

We had a great trip. Great food, great rooms, great service. My only con would be whenever we needed the trams they were no where to be seen or going the wrong way. I knew the resort was big but was happy the trams were there. The other Bahias I’ve been to the trams seemed to be continuous. We had a great vacay and I would recommend just beware it is a very big resort. Also the beach was very rocky. I would wear water shoes. Pools were great and a few to choose from.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya: Nice laid back resort for relaxation

Resort is very nice. New and clean. Always felt safe and all staff were always very welcoming. Entertainment team is pretty good and pool bars have good drinks and service. Restaurants are pretty good. Buffet is ok but Italian was excellent and Landshark pub was great. Breakfast was always fantastic and great service. Luis was amazing to us. Some things that fell short for the price was their reservation system is not good and hard to get times. Pools are cold so most adult resorts we'v [... read more]e been to have heated pools so this was disappointing at times. Joe merchant's which is coffee house and sweets was always amazing. Snacks were great. One last thing is it's theeeee most expensive resort we've ever been to. We've been lucky enough to travel the past 10 years and mostly to Mexico. Things that are included in other resorts like specialty drinks, bud lite, gift shop etc is by far the most expensive we've ever been. Their spa is crazy expensive and we live spas. We've been to grand moon place spa and other top ones with hydrotherapy etc and this place was wayyyyy more money which was surprising. Over all for a place to relax, have good food, great service and a nice e vibe and great cleanliness this would be for you.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Sandos

First room they gave me was in the family section nice room but a very long walk to get the tram (train Tran) . I was then moved to the adult section on the second floor with the elevator not working. The second night in my new room the air conditioner stopped working so did not get a good nights rest. Otherwise not as good of a vacation as last year’s. Other issues were with Air Canada. Dealing with trip central was easy and delightful, Thank you Richard Denis

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great family resort

Resort is huge, it’s actually 6 resorts that are all linked together. The 4 resorts in the middle are the normal level family resorts (Tropical, Colonial, Caribe, Beach). The one on the north side is the higher end Palace family resort, the one on the south side is the adults only resort. There is as double decker bus that you can jump on and off at each of the resorts, it also stops at the go cart track, the mall, the spa, and the beach/dolphin show (all of these are located on the resort!). [... read more] There is a ton of things to do to keep you/kids busy. Even though the overall resort is huge, you will prob spend most of your time around where you are staying. We did the go carts which was fun, but kids have to be 14 to drive on their own. Also don’t go in the middle of the day (too hot). Dolphin show is good, but we felt sorry for the dolphins in that small space. Snorkeling is good out from the beach when it’s clear. I was a few stingrays, 1 small shark, and a bunch of different fish. If you go near some of the tide pools in waist deep water with some bread from the buffet you will have a bunch of fish come around you. Just drop the pieces of bread in the water, don’t hold it for them cause some have sharp teeth. Worth a visit is one of the cenotes across the road (not on the resort). We just walked across and went to Cenote Cristalino (google it) which was $47 US for all 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids). There are other cenotes around there too, but they are more expensive. The restaurants were all very good and worth checking out. The buffet is good, standard stuff you find at a resort buffet. We never had an issue finding tables and never waited very long for food. The nightly shows are ok, we’ve seen ones that are much better. But hey it gives you something to do after dinner. We booked with WestJet Vacations. They had a small shuttle waiting for us that only went to our resort which was nice. Shuttle ride was 45-60 mins from the airport and was comfortable. We stayed at the Beach resort, which we were happy with. Overall we were very happy with the vacation and would go back there again. Happy travels!
