Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great resort!

We upgraded to the Bahia Principe Esmeralda resort & the staff handled the upgrade quickly & efficiently. The a la carte restaurants were awesome for the most part. Some extra training for staff at the Mediterrenean restaurant would go a long way to alleviating the poor service there. All the other restaurants were great. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not what we expected

Although the hotel was clean and maintained there clearly was not enough staff to handle the number of people at the resort. There were not enough lounge chairs or available shade for respite from the sun. There were very few staff monitoring use of masks and maintaining social distancing. If you cannot walk any distance or drag yourself and luggage up stairs do not vacation at this hotel. The hotel is spread out and requires a lot of walking or use of the trolley buses just to get to all meals. [... read more] You will also spend up to two hours on a bus from the airport as guests are dropped off at various hotels enroute. Rooms were not adequately air conditioned and we woke up to a hot room every morning. Main restaurant was extremely hot as well with ceiling fans running but inadequate a/c. The a la carte restaurant was lovely and a very enjoyable meal and service. Unfortunately it was near impossible to book the three dinners in the a la carte restaurants as they were mostly closed. We could only book two dinners even though we attempted to book five days in advance. The booking site was not user friendly neither was the online check in site.

We have been going to the Bahia resorts for many years food is good in buffets and the a la cart restaurants, grounds are well kept and well cared for, we stayed in the adult section rooms in need of upgrade/maintenance, Beach unfortunately is full of seaweed the clean up guys do an amazing job of taking care of it main beach was always clean small beach in front of infinity pool also kept clean. My husband and I have returned from vacationing at the Coba .We have probably just had one of the best vacations ever .This Resort is absolutely beautiful , great food ,great staff .We have nothing negative to say.Covid procedures are in place and we felt quite safe while there. Only complaint would be that the trip wasn’t long enough and bring your water shoes for the beach .There is a lot of coral. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Still a great resort!!

First of all, this is our 3 time at this resort in four years and we can say that we still love it there. There were a couple of issues but one wasn’t the resorts fault. The beach was a lot rougher this year and a lot of seaweed. The second issue was the food. The previous 2 times we were there the food at the buffet was great. This time it wasn’t quite as good. Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great resort

The resort was exceptionally clean. Food was very good and easily accessible. Lots of pools and water parks for the children. There were shows readily available for all ages of children. The beach and the excursions were well planned.

The Hotel is good the location is not. The beach is not clean too many Leafs. All days were Rough ocean. staff poor English The shows were Good. Ala cart Restaurants is not that good. Units far away from the Facilities.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great Resort!

It was our first family trip to Punta Cana and many thanks to Monique for assisting us with our travel plans. Bahia Principe is a beautiful clean resort with beautiful grounds, great food, amazing and friendly staffs, and fun entertainment for adults and kids. We loved the circus and magic shows. We would definitely come back again!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Best beach in Jamaica!

We’ve been to Jamaica many times and this was hands down the best beach we’ve been to! It’s soft white sand and you can walk out to shallow water for ever. Some really fun snorkelling right off shore. Food was great. Whatever they’re grilling fresh on the buffet was delicious. The jerk chicken at lunch was to die, we had it every day! Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Needs improvement

Having to dispose of toilet paper into a waste paper basket (at all times) instead of directly into a toilet was gross and having scented toilet paper in the hotel room caused irritation which was quite uncomfortable. Very limiited in food choices when eating at the buffet due to lack of signage or incorrect signage (so not knowing what certain foods were). Not having the many sea food dishes segregated as there was too much of a risk with cross contamination from the utensils meant I could not  [... read more]eat much at times. Showering in a tub that needed to be scrubbed as the finish of the bottom of the tub had trapped in dirt and felt slimy. Continually having to ask for face cloths every day and even when trying to use towels for two days there were still times when even clean towels were not left in the room. First day at the resort found some of our towels had ground in dirt in them which was upsetting. Tiny pillows (not even standard sized pillows) and uncomfortable beds. Someone on our floor had ordered room service and the tray with leftover food and drinks was left out all day and night and racoons got into the tray for over two hours at 4am in the morning smashing dishes, glasses and leaving a disgusting mess on the floors and table/bench where tray was left. This mess wasn't cleaned up until much later the next morning. Why are room service trays not picked up in a timely fashion? Multiple staff saw this tray and could have reported it to food services...maybe they did but it was never picked up. Room has not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time included cloth covered couch and chair which were in dire need of a good vacuuming. Blankets on bed are really old and used and even though they put an extra mattress topper on top of the original mattress they were both old and uncomfortable. Room was damp and mouldy and triggered my asthma. Entertainers in lounge areas and performing at the regular 9pm show lack talent and that is the most polite way I can describe the entertainers. Tired of seeing people completely drunk who obviously had been overserved. My husband had to pull one guy out of the pool who was passed out from being so drunk. The temperature of the pool increases as the day goes on due to the heat but also having people who obviously must urinate in the pool (as they never get out of the pool but always have a drink in their hand) meant the pool and pool water was gross by the end of the day. Needless to say after many years of going to all inclusives I will no longer take this kind of trip.

Pool and grounds expansive and very well groomed; accommodations (superior jr suite) slightly dated but clean and presentable )both tub/shower present); fridge not regularly stocked with water and inadequate amt of towels (needed to consistently request for both); al La carte bookings a MESS!!! Very disappointing as their system (despite online booking capability) is not current and not available in the restaurants (restaurants depend on hard copy print out). - as such walk-ins happen regularly [... read more] and guests with allocated al La carte dinners cannot obtain their allotment - despite empty tables being evident; guest services not at the desk consistently hence not Available to help and when finally managed to meet with them admitted that yes al La carte bookings are a mess - so make sure you book these on arrival; West Jet, on site representative, not helpful AT ALL; Infact at the orientation meeting their focus was to sell you a tour package and not tell you the things that would make your stay more comfortable ie al La carte bookings; West Jet take note - as this reflects poorly on your trips to this destination; hotel and restaurant staff friendly; house wine BELOW ADEQUATE this applies to both the white and red; bottles of wine can be purchased at al La carte but some of their pricing was RIDICULOUS eg Santa Margherita - Pinot Grigio (CD 20.95) was approx 90 US (🙈); more reasonably priced wines were not available or sold out and not replaced; lastly duration of drop offs/ pick -up slightly over 2 hrs (total time from airport to/from resort) - for my preferences that is too long; given my above views, I would not be rebooking any time soon and most certainly it is not a 5 star resort !

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: beautiful resort with exceptional customer service

Didn't know what to expect since it was our first time at such a large resort. Even though it was large it never felt crowded. There was always plenty of seating in the dining room and available chairs at the pool/beach. I would say 3.5 stars. We went to this resort for March Break and it was OK. We’ve been to better places for sure, we met great people and have a good time because we are able to brush certain things off but we wouldn’t return. FOOD AND DRINKS: First off, nobody mentioned the two closed restaurants which I feel should’ve been mentioned before confirming our trip. The a la cartes weren’t very good except for the Brazilian. The buffet was super repetitive but fine. ENTERTAINMENT: The bars and entertainment ends quite early 12pm for music and 1am for drinks so if you’re wanting to be out and enjoying this isn’t for you. The entertainment was okay, but the team wasn’t lively and charismatic during the day. They aren’t half of what I have experienced in the past as far as creating daytime fun and welcoming atmosphere. WELCOME: The bus ride at 2.5hrs from the airport SUCKED. The welcome wasn’t there. Our first room door didn’t work, we were given a smelly joint room which we denied and were finally given a third one. Rooms are okay but need an update, but we didn’t really care about them. BEACH: You have to take a trolly to the beach. It isnt a walk away. It is small and loaded with rocks in the shoreline. There aren’t many loungers and you are limited to blue chairs whereas other resorts can come over and use our chairs and bar facilities. POOLS: There are two big pools with bars which is great. There’s a third tiny quite pool which was more just a big jacuzzi for anyone wanted alone peaceful time. The pool bar gets busy and it’s hard to get a drink at times. The bars and the pool closed at 6pm which I felt was early and should be more like 7-8pm. OVERALL: The resort was OK but definitely no 5 star. We are pretty easy to please but we were just extra dissapointed after splurging an extra few hundred for a better resort after two crappy years. This is comparable to a 500-700 dollar cheaper resort. I’d say you’re much better off at one of the other two Bahia principe hotels as they’ve been updated and are closer to the beach but we weren’t allowed in them really. Only they were able to use our resort.

Great resort, good food selections, nice beach area, great service. Rooms were good but cleanliness of floors could be better. Buffet restaurants Covid-19 protocols good hand sanitizer sprayed on everyone’s hands entering as well as when entering the buffet area. Overall great resort!

communication is bad. A call at the front desk is ignored at night.If there was an emergency one would be left to fend for themselves with dire consequences.We had a water leak from the floor upstairs in the bathroom and the entrance, and were lucky we did not slip and fall as it was at 11 at night. What can I say. This holiday was well needed after the two years we just had and I think was just as happy to have us back. This resort is beautiful… big yes but beautiful. Pools are great. Always could find a place around the pool, didn’t need to get up at 6am to lit your towels on the chairs. Never a line up at the buffet. COVID or the COVID measure are very much enforced. my boyfriend and I were situated right by the lobby of aquamarine, it was central to the pool as well as the buffet. the buffet food was amazing for a resort, they had a lot of variety and healthy choices. servers were always kind and available. the a la carte dinners were even more amazing, we got to choose 6 restaurants during our 7 day stay and we were very impressed with all of them (my boyfriend has a sensitive stomach and is extremely particular about his food choices). we wished that we h [... read more]ad been closer to the beach, it was about a 10 minute walk but buggies were always available for transport. this resort is HUGE, i think has 7 different hotel sections. beach was a bit overcrowded so you need to either go during meal times or early in morning / later at night. overall, we had an amazing time, the reviews are as truthful as can be. amazing blue, clear water. extremely clean grounds & rooms, you see so many staff constantly working and keeping the resort beautiful. we are 100% coming back, hopefully the ambar section. and we have already recommend to so many people. really beautiful place all together.

Disappointed with the ala carte restaurants, we were told and it was clear on the website that we did not require reservations. Upon arrival were were informed that reservations were required and we had to try get a booking which was like checking the website or going to the lobby several times to get a reservation at the ala carte restaurants. we did not manage to have dinner at half of the restaurants. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Beautiful Resort!

The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food choices were excellent with something for everyone. There could have been more gluten free pasta choices at the buffet. The Japanese restaurant was excellent and the chef was entertaining. Our hostess Monique was great. The Knife restaurant was beyond our expectations. Staff were great and food was perfect! Our room was 16413, the music was so loud in our room that we could not sleep til music stopped at 2 am. The loud music bounced up the walls and some women laughter could be heard over that music…terrible to try to sleep through. If I had to hear that every night, I would not go back to this resort. Love the resort but I need my sleep. Sop the music at 12 at least.
