Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Great Restaurants & Service
We just returned from a 7 days stay at this large resort 12/20-12/27, 2018 . Be prepared to walk to get to just about anywhere from your room. The best part of this resort are the restaurants in the Village Area of the grounds.
We stayed in Bldg. 16 which is the main Grand Palladium Tower (4 stories), Main Lobby, Lobby Bar and Buffet all on the ground floor. My wife and I were in room 16229 (King Bed) and our adult children in 16430 (2 Dbl. Beds). Large suites, well appointed and decorated both[... read more] had Courtyard Views with plenty of sun shine.
The most notable part of this resort were it's Restaurants. The service was great as was the menu offered, standard al ecarte service; do not expect BIG PORTIONS. All the restaurants serviced a very elegant plate, well presented and tasteful. If you really like to eat big portions go to the Buffet, the food there is just a good as what is available at the Village Restaurants. Only one place for Breakfast and that is at the Buffet in the main Bldg.; long waiting time to be seated if you are not an early riser. The TRS Hotel also on the same property have their own restaurants; guest there can also use the ones in the Village and they can also book reservations to all restaurants. Those guest in the Palladium wings are only allowed to make reservation to the Japanese Restaurant the rest are a first come first serve.
Shuttles both land and water are at times necessary to use regardless of the building that you are in. The grounds are not designed for guest that have mobility issues. Very few ramps if any to get over steps etc. In the evening the grounds are not very well lit. The Main Pool really needs a second bar and toilet facilities opposite the existing Swim-up bar.
The back of the house (that's the part as guest we do not see) needs to be more attentive to the details when it comes to cleanliness of plates and cups, utensils and linens. Nothing worse than finding lip stick stains on your cup, stained utensils and plate settings.
This resort is new, opened in November 2018. I can understand that it is going through it's growing pain stages and I trust that things will improve as it matures. Give The Grand Palladium Costa Mujures a couple of years to have a real Paradise feel.
Workers continue to finish walkways, landscaping, hardscape (paths) etc... to the grounds and Bldgs. The over-all finish to the resorts appears to have been rushed to make the grand opening date.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Brand New Modern Resort
This hotel is beautifully landscaped. The layout of the hotel is different. Off the main lobby is the Lounge which has an eating area and a sitting area and is open 24 hours. Coffee, tea, alcohol, food is available here and is self serve. It is a very clean, comfortable room.
The lobby bar and the main buffet are facing the pools and the ocean. The view is amazing. The a-la- cart restaurants, auditorium are placed in close proximity for easy access.
All the rooms are beautiful, modern and very[... read more] clean.
The beach is very long with fine sand and beautiful palm trees.
It is a wonderful hotel with excellent service. We would return again.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Not what we were expected
Booked this hotel to celebrate moms's 70th and my 50th.
First is not easy to get to down town Cancún or Hotel zone. It was 30 dollars each way to go out of the hotel, we were told it was 15 minutes from the airport and close to downtown it was not true. Is sold as a Resort & Spa "Adults only" so you expect quite time: Well it was not quite... there was too much noise full of drunk people. Noise until 2 or 3 in the morning.
Upgrade is not need it. Why pay extra money for something you are no[... read more]t getting?
This hotel is advertised as a 5 dimonds!!! Well is a long way to get there. The food is not what you expect from a five dimonds resort. I know it is all inclusive but you are paying a lot to be there and beside that the upgrade for the concierge privilege club is no necessary you get the same as eveybody else. Room service was very good and accommodating to our needs since my BF got sick (maybe the food?). There was lots of not smoking signs even in the washroom and there was not even one sign regarding not to drink the tap water im the room.
The better restaurant was Oceana. Service was good, food was good.
The main buffet has lots of room for improvement starting with the food contamination. The ideal on any buffet is that the last customer find the food as if he was the first customer... yes is a high expectation but when you pay that money you can't lower your expectations and you will losse your appetite when all you can see is like leftovers. Tried Gaucho at Dreams... lots of noise, i knew there was kids around. 1hr wait to seat 1 person and then the buffet was nothing but Disgusting.
The French restaurant was ok. The italian restaurant was the best, food and service excellent, presentation was great. After complaining to the concierge Manager fir 2 days they offered a bottle of red wine not the best but hey! was included! After all we were happy at the wine cellar where we were allowed to have dessert just because we were getting engaged! But we got nothing special from the resort.
All the employees are happy and willing to serve you very attentive but food management has room for improvement.
Oh one last thing as a club privilege upgrade we got access to the Spa to the hydrotherapy... we asked for bathrobs and we never got them on our visit to the spa.

The facilities in the very first room allocated had lot of complications . No telephone, flooded washrooms prevented us from having a shower throughout stay in first two days.The ground transport in the resort is ineffective, gave us lots of hardships for us to move in the resort.

Oh Cancun On The Beach: Basic Resort with few Amenities
We just returned from the Oasis Lite and found the resort simply OK. 3 days in we paid to upgrade to the black wristbands which was necessary because the food options with the Lite were simply awful. Factor that into the price or you will be disappointed. Food is the biggest disappointment at this resort. They don’t even have guacamole or pico de gallo!!!
Rooms were ok. Very basic. Old and worn down. Almost no furniture in the rooms but the Beds were extremely comfortable!
One of the[... read more] worst things about this resort is the constant noise. The music never turns off and it never changes. Imagine constant never ending techno music. There is no where on the resort that is quiet...ever! The pools are so cold, the ocean is way warmer!
The drinks are so hit and miss from one bar to the next. Some were great, others simply undrinkable and you just tossed and tried another place.
Finally, I was very disappointed in how many of the bartenders overserved extremely intoxicated people. To the point where people were getting into troubling and precarious situations.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Women’s trip
We got into cancun’s airport, left easily, got on to the bus that left fairly quickly. 50 minutes to get to the hotel.
First impression was good. Lobby smells nice. Originally asked for two beds, got one, issue was resolved when we got to the room.
Property is alright. Boxy looking but still nice. Have a few pools, beach is crazy close and very nice. No seaweed and chairs were easy to get.
As a palace stayer, you’re welcome to go over to Dunamar and hang out, eat breakfast and lu[... read more]nch. They told us no to the dinner and we didn’t try. Dunamar felt like the more fun little sister of palace.
If you’re looking for a completely relaxing trip, this is a nice place to go. There are barely any activities. No music during the day so bring your own if you want to hear any.
Bars are nice, booze is good. The people that came with me said they couldn’t feel any of the alcohol unless they drank wine. I am not of that opinion. Lol.
Food is good. You’ll have enough to eat. We weren’t a fan of any of the dinner restaurants. It was almost like they are trying too hard and screwed it up. People we talked to who were also vacationing said the same thing. We all agreed the Italian was the only one that was worth going to. You’ll see when you try it because everyone wants to at least try. Buffet was great, tasty stuff. Repetitive but alright. Switch it up and go to dunamar. Their selection is a bit different than ours so at least you’ll get variety. Quality of food was good both places.
Rooms were clean and cleaned daily, pretty basic stuff. Pillows were sub par. Small and lacking.
They have a cafe/bar that’s pretty central so folks hang there. They have all kinds of drinks and the coffee was good as were the lattes, capuchinos and espressos.
We did the water slides at dunamar and boy are they steep, but fun.
They’ve got a sports bar over at dunamar too. Gotta pay 5 bucks usd to play pool. We tried as it rained one day. What happened to all inclusive?
Shows are alright. Elegance one was nice. We walked over to dunamar for shows as they were more lively. Check out the Vegas one. Was really cool.
All in all, I likely won’t come back here but am not sad I came. I think it’s because it’s so new, it was kinda boring. Maybe in a couple of years after they become established, I might try.

Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa: Beautiful Modern Safe Resort
Excellent food, shows, pools and beach. Variety and something for everyone. Devoted caring staff that’s always smiling. They do try to get you to buy into their preferred club but just do the presentation say NO and we got tickets, transportation to Rock of Ages and a couples 80min massage, so worth the trouble. The Explorer Club was great for the kids with lots of fun activities.
This is a Family oriented resort for sure!
Pros:
- Perfect beach with calm waves, really one of the best Lagoon in Cancun, our kids loved it;
- Perfect pools, our kids loved it;
- Food selection is good, multiple morning buffets, lunch, snack bars, etc, we loved it;
- Multiple restaurants available for the evening "quality dining out". See food and Mexican restaurants at it's best. Highly recommend Shrimp soup and Squid in it's own ink :);
- No lines, no issues, no problems booking "a la[... read more] carte" restaurants or securing the buffet tables, just avoid rush hours :);
- Staff is extremely friendly;
- Very safe hotel, security staff and cameras available in every area;
- Coffee Shop excellent;
- Check in/out smooth and fast;
- Based on our request, check out time was extended till 13.00 at no charge.
Cons:
- Charging 7 USD a day for a room deposit box, really?
- No minibar included, only bottled water
- No free WiFi, really?
- Beer (Dos Equis), not sure are they watering it in the Hotel, or ordering low quality beer at the factory, Hm...
- Coffee offered during the breakfast just terrible;
- Miniclub was not what we expected, very limited in terms of swimming pool and activities available.
Again: Staff is extremely friendly, people, make sure you tip these hard working helpers/bartenders/waiters/etc.
Overall this was very pleasant trip for our Family, parents and 2 kids.

Hotel Dos Playas Faranda: Very pleasant stay.
The hotel rooms were spotless and the food was excellent. I have not visited Mexico before and was most impressed with the people not only at the resort but outside. The whole population seems t make a living from tourins but I was never hassled. The total package was extremely economical but if you want to go outside the resort then be prepared to pay American prices. Altogether you can't beat the value. The entertainment was also very good.

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort
What a beautiful resort. Lots of restaurants on the grounds. The main buffet was fabulous, with so much variety. The staff were all so nice and courteous.
Lots of things to do, pool area is huge and a special children's area. Live shows each evening, and bands playing good tunes in the sports bar and pool side.
This resort is awesome for all ages. There were 19 family members that were with us, ages 16 - 72. We all had such a good time ! I would definitely go again.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Beautiful & wonderful resort
Me and my girlfriend stayed here from Dec 4-11th. After weeks of researching resorts we finally chose this one based on a couple things. The main thing we wanted was a swim out suite that was somewhat private. Secondly the resort was brand new and we thought it would be great to experience a new 5 star resort. We also liked the fact that you can visit the Neighboring RIU Dunamar. We arrived at the airport and found the Sunwing rep with no issues and off we went. Took about 50 minutes to get to t[... read more]he resort because we had to drop someone off at another resort first. Upon arrival at the Palace we were met with delicious welcome drinks and proceeded to check in. The lobby is beautiful and elegant. You can smell how new it is.The check in process was very smooth and quick!
THE ROOM:
We were given directions to our room and our luggage was delivered. The room was gorgeous. We had an end swim out suite. The mini bar is stocked with 4 bottles. Vodka, Run , Gin and Tequila. The fridge has Pepsi, 7up, tonic, 7 beer cans and a few large bottles of water. The bed is soft and comfortable. The swim out looked a lot better in person. Its deeper and bigger than I thought and having the ocean for a view was amazing. The patio itself was a good size as well. The toilet is separate from the shower/sink area and has its own door. The shower and sink area is an open concept with no door which is a little strange and I can see that being an issue for families. I also found the tub in the middle of the room strange and its on the smaller side so if you're a tall guy like me its not useful. The shower is a nice size and I liked the optional rain shower head. Room 9/10
GROUNDS:
The resort is BEAUTIFUL. You really feel like you're in paradise being there. It feels, looks and smells new and fresh! There are 5 pools and they were not crowded at all during the time I was there.There is a 24 hour lounge close to the main lobby where you can relax and watch TV as well as get drink and food (the same bottles that are in the room are here). There is another lounge area near the center of the resort that has a bar and a shop called Capuchino where you can sit and order drinks, snacks, espresso, milkshakes, dessert (the cheesecake was delicious!). I spent quite a bit of time here as I found it to be a nice place to relax. The beach is long and beautiful and well shaded with palm trees. You can get a massage down on the beach for around $30-$40 (Not ran by RIU, Theirs is a lot more expensive). There were plenty of chairs available so no need to worry about getting there early for one. Grounds 10/10
The Food:
The food was the best I have had at a resort thus far. I was really happy with the options available at the buffet on a daily basis.There are 5 A la cart restaurants; Japanese, Mexican, The Steakhouse, Italian and Krystal (A fusion restaurant). The Italian restaurant was open every night and only 2 of the other restaurants were open ever night (Most likely due to the resort not being that busy). We did not the Japanese or Krystal as nothing on the menu peaked our interest. Our favorite was the steakhouse. The lobster and fillet minion is just outstanding! The Mexican restaurant was pretty decent as well. There is also a lunch restaurant/bar area called Pepe's by the pool area. There's mainly grilled things there such as steak, burgers, pork chops.Overall we couldn't ask for anything more and we were thoroughly satisfied with the food. Food 10/10
Conclusion:
This is the best resort have been to. The service is impeccable. Everywhere you go there is somebody there to serve and take your order. The service is great and the staff are very friendly an upbeat. Due to the fact the resort is new it wasn't overrun with people. There was no wait at the bars or restaurants. I loved the peacefulness and the seclusion on the Costa Mujeres Peninsula. We used the 24 hour room service a few times and it came in a timely manner. Housekeeping was cleaned the room well and we tipped them daily. Anything you call the front desk for is taken care of swiftly. There were some small kinks such as the fire alarm going off a few times but understandable as its brand new.The only thing I wished was on the resort are cabana beds. That would have put it over the top for me but overall an amazing experience. I would definitely return.
P.S Keep your customs card as you will need it when you return to the airport. We had to pay $30 USD each to replace ours.
