Whala Bavaro: Basic resort - friendly staff
This property is clean with a friendly staff but that is the best I can say for it. No proper bar, pools were murky, food was basic. There was a strong smell of sewer and the resort was filled with very rude guests from a very unfriendly nation.

Grand Palladium Palace: took awhile to appreciate
the hotel was very lovely and clean, however when we first got to our room the tv didn't work and the Jacuzzi tub didn't work. It took 3 days and 5 complaints to get them to finally move us to a different room. That being said the room they gave us was wonderful ocean view and everything worked.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Nice resort but way too crowded !
I would go back to this hotel, however, would choose a date where it is quieter - hard to find a lounge chair on the beach and I found that very annoying! Nice landscaping and extremely clean throughout.

Riu Palace Punta Cana: Riu Palace Punta Cana - Love it!
Just returned Dec.11 2014 ... seven days! Great Hotel... Beautiful Beach! This was a return holiday , we were there Mar. 2012 for a daughter's wedding! ( we actually witnessed two weddings under the gazebo @ the beach while we were there!) Love this resort, food was very good. Stick to the buffets, although you have options for onsite restaurants. They were just okay. The staff always kind & friendly. Daytime activities, if interested. But they did not hound you. Same staff returning for evening[... read more] activities to greet you! Evening activities were good, professional groups coming in to entertain. The evening layout is really neat, before & after dinner... you have a huge area to sit & listen to music... dancing. Service is EXCELLENT here. They serve you drinks... on you... as soon as your glass is empty! Beach is beautiful, lots of chairs! As well as the pool... but you know the rules! ...get down & reserve your favorite spot with towels! Very few vendors on beach bugging you! But there... if you want a hat, sunglasses, cigars or cheap jewelry ! shops on site for souvenirs, nice jewelry store in Lobby. Ten minute walk to Harrison's Caribbean Jewelry for higher end stuff ( 14kt yellow/white gold) ... I know ... cause it was my Birthday!!! Favorite staff ... for a second time in a row! RAUL ...he has been there eight years! As you walk into the main buffet area... Turn to your left ... far wall ... Raul & staff will look after you! Rooms were very nice, they will smell a little musty when you arrive. DON'T WORRY ... crank the fan & get the air on high for the whole week! Beds are hard... oh well ... lots of pillows! Fully stocked fridges every day, Only beer... Presidente! very good... Wine sucks here... I was bummed cause I LOVE wine.... white is drinkable, as long as it is really cold...I always kept a bottle in our fridge... they will give you a bottle anywhere... just ask... Lots of hot water & lots of fresh towels! Cleaning staff speak very little English. We were top floor ... facing the court ( I recommend this) I think we were 3109 ? Rooms kept very clean.... they are very handy with towel art!! All in all ... great trip .... but travelers ... wee bit of advice... You are on Holidays, these staff members ARE not your servants.... TIP .... I we took 120 one dollar bills .... We left $5 UNDER a pillow each day, and $1 INSIDE the fridge. Someone cleans your room ... another stocks your fridge daily. We tipped at the bars, restaurants... after you leave your table, after a meal... leave a buck or two!! They remember you... sit in the same areas The only rudeness we saw was from other TRAVELERS ... Great Place ... will return!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Great resort, service a bit lacking
My gf and I stayed at this resort after we decided to take a last minute trip. Pricing was excellent and it's ranking on trip advisor was extremely high. I can say that the grounds were excellent, very clean, food was good but service was a bit lacking. Sometimes it felt like the employees didn't even want to be there. I'm not saying that all were like this but a fair bunch. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about the resort. Don't listen to the reviews about this being a kids onl[... read more]y resort. Incorrect. There are kids yes but plenty of things for adults to do and kid noise was not a factor at all. Overall, I would recommend memories splash from a price to quality perspective

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: AMAZING AND BREATH-TAKING
Where can I start...the hotel was gorgeous inside and out...simply breath-taking.
The food was second to none!and lots of it! The swim up bar (pool #2) in the colonial area was great, the staff was very attentive - they know customer service and practice it everyday.
Will definately return! Butler service was an interesting treat too.

Occidental Punta Cana: Not what it was last time
Resort was dated (last there in 2000 just after it opened). Air conditioner did not work blew air but not cool air. On first day could not book restaurants until 4th day in but when we did get to restaurant there were 13 tables with people at them and 27 empty. It was that way at all the restaurants that we did get to. Only able to use 3 out of the 5 we paid for. Room not always cleaned. Only local booze, and all whiskey was scotch no rye. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect Vacation
My wife and I had a great time at the resort. The property was very well taken care of. The gardens were well groomed and the workers friendly. The pool area was clean and the waitresses looked after our needs....drinks. There were a lot of seats but if looking for an umbrella you needed to be down by 9am to reserve your shade. The rooms were cleaned and always had clean towels and the bar was full. The food at the restaurants was awesome. The food at the buffet was just as good as the a la cart[... read more]e.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Great Family resort!!
My family and I had an amazing time. We had absolutely no complaints about the room, dinning areas and the food was great. Our only complaints would be the time share guys are very aggressive and because we had two young kids, the lack of shade on the beach was a challenge at times but manageable.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Casa Marina Beach & Reef Resort
My two best girlfriends and I went to Casa Marina Beach & Reef Resort three weeks ago and we had a wonderful time. I would rate the rooms as a 3 but the grounds as a 5++. The food was very good, so much selection and everything was fresh, drinks were generous and yummy! We upgraded our package and quite honestly we got the BEST room in the entire resort.
All the staff were outstanding, they knew us all by name, chased us down to talk, giggle and have fun. Keeping in mind we went at off season s[... read more]o there were no big fancy shows but it was perfect based on what we wanted on our vacation. We got the opportunity to watched a Dominican wedding celebration that was beautiful.
Our Nolitour representative William was awesome and helped us plan an excursion that we will remember forever. We felt safe wandering around at Sousa Beach and in town...so fun.
Thanks for having us, I am returning next year same time same place!!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Best First Experience
We had a terrific vacation, simply the most amazing experience of my life!!! I cant beleive how well everything went.
We met "Lode " from your company at the resort and she gave us a run down on what's what, the dues, answered all out questions, the do's and don't and dispelled many rumours with facts. She also saw us off at the airport before our departure. She was very nice and very helpful and we noticed that not all the guest or tours had a contact person to inform them. Excellent idea/serv[... read more]ice on your part.
The hotel was great. It has a relatively fresh look and the rooms and grounds were clean. Thank you for the balcony room. We had a view of the ocean and were not far from the main centre. for a couple of bucks a day on the pillow, we had very clean rooms, spotless and a well stocked minibar (so important). The bed was good and plenty of towels and pillows. The hotel was not even half filled and this led to no line ups for drinks, food or information, so awesome.
The staff was number one, they really love their jobs and you can tell. We met a lot of nice people, very helpful and inclusive in all events and lessons. they are a freindly gang and really helped in briging the guest together. the laughs and fun never stopped. they have a small spanish lesson everyday at 10 for about 15 minutes. This was a huge benefit to us and we got more positive responese with the efforts we were making to communicate.
The beach is very nice, the winds were not too bad and the waves were excellent. The beach is clean and not too many local salespeople on the beach. They were pretty respectful of the guest and not too pushy. The pools are equally as nice and clean. not too many kids during our week so at times, the common pool seemed a lot like the adult only pool.
The food was supurb and the drinks did not stop. We anticipated needing some condements and fillers and spicy sauce but had no need for any of them. The flavours are varied and bountiful. the fish is so fresh and the buffets were filled with several different cuisines. all beakfasts, lunches and dinners were all delecious and ample. The 2 a-la carte restaurants were classy and refreshing. The service was magnificent. Ladies need sleeves at these dinners, no wraps allowed.
The entertainment was good. We stayed and watched every show that they had in the evening. they were mixed between skits and dancing troops. They had humour in most of their shows. the casino was fun and on the grounds, as was the night life. both were all but empty and many of the shops were not open. but by 10pm, after the show, you have already had a very long day.
The wild life was present but not intrusive. not many misquitos, but sand fleas were biting people that they found tasty. Strange that I received very few bites but my wife got a dozen or more, she must taste better. The repellant that we brought from home was a great idea and solved that problem immediatly.
We did not do many of the chargeable events, no excursions, no scuba ,no sailing, no need. :-)
Thank you for the best vacation ever !! We had the most amazing time and would strongly reccoment this to all our friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: beautiful but cleanliness but disgusting
The beach was nice, the pools are fun and clean. The buffet is really impressive but the room housekeeping...disgusting! They did not clean our bathroom the whole time we were there. They dropped off towels and that was it. I spoke with 4 different people and it took 5 days for them to repair the a/c in my room.
It's a shame because had they acknowledge my a/c issue and just washed my bathroom, I would have said this resort was wonderful but cleanliness is a big item for me, so I would not recom[... read more]mend.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Fantastic Spot!
Spent a week at the Hard Rock from Nov 25 - Dec 2nd and loved every minute!
Great resort with immaculate grounds & fantastic beach . Customer service is first rate and rooms are fairly spacious and kept very clean. Plenty of choice with 9 restaurants (all a la carte for dinner) and even more pools. I would say that the food overall was very good (excellent by D.R. standards) with ample choices for any type of meal. My wife and I travelled with our 12 and 14 year old and they both loved it with l[... read more]ots of things for them to do including a free arcade and great mini putt. The grounds are very large so try to pick you room location based on your needs. We stayed in building 4B which was close to the main building but only a 4 min walk to most of the pools and the beach. The pools are very large and several have swim up bars...perfect temperature in both the ocean and pools. It also has a very nice casino with lots of slots/tables to play and a first class sports book. Evening entertainment was fair to good (Michael Jackson tribute and Magic Show) but it was free and the kids really liked it. It is a very big resort (1800 rooms) but despite the size you never feel crowded at all as there is always plenty of space available at the pools and beach...
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone with or without kids of any age...I know we'll be going back next year...

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful beach!!!
The resort is situated on what seems to be a never ending beach. Lots of palapas & trees when you need to get out of the sun, lounges always available and drinks not far away at the beach & pool bars. The resort is clean and well maintained. Staff are gracious, attentive & friendly, although I sense a change of management from last year...perhaps fewer staff available in the dining room and sometimes stretched a little thin?? The food at the buffet although a bit repetitious is good, and we real[... read more]ly enjoyed our dinners at Portofino & El Pescador restaurants. The extra $ for the lobster dinner was worth it.
Anyway this was our second visit, and we were a little disappointed that we weren't informed of the construction going on at the former beach bar/snack bar. (It seems that Bahia is painting everything white too which makes even a casual bar/snack bar look a little too formal for me). From early morning til evening there was plenty of construction noise at the "quiet" beach and since our room was nearby we had to endure it whenever we were on our balcony. Too much like being in the city!
On good days, snorkelling among the reefs off shore is wonderful! Although when the water isn't clear your can bump into the reefs before you know they're there...so be careful.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Interesting place.
The first impression of the Blue Bay Villas Doradas is WOW! We had been to this resort 25 year prior and well, it was an improvement .
The staff is very friendly, the grounds are beautifully manicured, the lobby and restaurants are very clean and inviting BUT...... the rooms leave allot to be desired. The first room we were put into didn't have hot water in it for 2 days - they finally moved us to another room after sending down a maintenance worker to show us how to turn the water on. - very in[... read more]sulting. That room had rust on the bathtub, broken floor tiles and a ceiling fan that had about 1/2" of dirt on it. The vent for the air conditioner was clogged with dirt so you were breathing in old, moldy air. The door to the room was almost an inch shorter than the opening and allowed bugs to come into the room.
The Second room we were put into was better but again the ceiling fan was covered with dirt and the air conditioner desperately needed cleaning.
if you wanted towels, you had to ask the maid as they would give you one hand towel and two bath towels, if you were lucky.
These things were pointed out to the front desk but never corrected during our stay.
I spoke to some other guest who had to move 3 time before they got a room that didn't have problems.
If you go to an all inclusive, then why do you have to pay for drinks at the Lobby Bar????? This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and you have to pay for drinks. I have travelled all over the Caribbean staying at all inclusive from 2 - 5 star and NEVER have I had to pay for drinks at any of the bars.
The entertainment leaves allot to be desired. They must think we are all deaf as they play the music so loud that you cannot hold a conversation with the person next to you without shouting. Especially during the day. I understand that they want everyone to have a good time but not everyone wants to loose their hearing.
The spa area was the best part of this place, very quiet - but only after the main stage area turns down their music and they are located at opposite ends of the resort.
The beach was beautiful but unfortunately we were constantly bothered by people trying to sell us their items and they really don't take no for an answer.
We were given prices for excursion when we arrived but when we tried to book them, they raised the prices even though the lower price was on the internet.
I would never give this place a 4 star rating.

Generally speaking, we really enjoyed our time at this property. The rooms and grounds were maintained very well, and the large pool was immaculate. Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Disappointing
We traveled with a group of 12. It included seniors and young children. We booked one bedroom suites with a pullout couch. What we got was a large room with a half wall with two double beds and a futon. The park while amazing was a good 5-10 min walk.... This was fine for us younger people however the seniors in our group could not make the walk and therefore could not join us at the water park..... There were no activities offered that we could find and their entertainment staff was non-existent. The food was always cold and long waits both for food and at the bars. Even then we had to beg for 4 towels when they would only give is one for a family of 4. Overall disappointing
