Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe

This resort was just the right size, not too large and not small. It was very well laid out. The rooms are very nice. There are plenty of washrooms around the resort which were kept clean and well maintained. The pools are lovely and refreshing and the walk to the beach is nearby with a snack bar and bar. Some of the staff wore masks and kept social distancing from customers. There seemed to be a shortage of some of the food such as chicken so we had pork, fish and pasta or rice. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful resort minus the mosquitos!

Beautifully landscaped grounds, spectacular shows, spacious rooms with balcony, table and chairs, ocean view, friendly staff, lovely presentations of dinners at the specialty restaurants with good Spanish wines, super chef in Selections buffet restaurant who made every meat taste delicious, great variety of desserts with ice cream etc.and meats but bring your own spices if you select per-prepared dishes, lovely beach, excursions available to Moron and local double-decker bus to Gaviota Shopping [... read more] Centre but avoid the meal hour as many shops close over the noon hour, many activities available, including pétanque, variety of alcoholic beverages minus any Coca Cola mix so no Cuba Libre, mosquitos in abundance biting everywhere though. Mosquitos risk killing the tourist industry as they are so pervasive in that area and on that site which has a huge lake/ pond of stagnant water so a breeding ground for mosquitos. The mosquitos there are so small that you seldom see them. I had been in Santa Maria in April and never experienced any mosquito bites, so perhaps the season makes a difference too. I was a little disappointed that there was no welcome drink and no porter to take my carry-on to my room and explain everything until later.

Melia Costa Rey: Wonderful resort

If you are considering going to Cuba you must understand one huge thing. You do not go to Cuba for the food. Having gone during the off-season and just a few months after the demise of Covid the resort was empty is not an exaggeration. Four big beautiful pools are in this resort and at 2 in the afternoon we were the only people in the pool. The most I saw were perhaps 20 people. I asked a couple of people when we went swimming with the dolphins and all resorts seem to be hurting currently for many items. The snack bar had very little available. there were no french fries, and hot dogs all week, hamburgers were veggie burgers at best. The entertainment each night was very enjoyable and they work hard at what they do. The entertainment around the pool was not seen until around 4 in the afternoon, but then I felt bad for the workers because the people were just not there to work with. I would certainly return to the resort if I went to Cayo Coco again however I would want to know if things had drastically changed. I am not a picky person, we made do with what was available and the staff was very pleasant to deal with. it is just a shame that Cuba is suffering so badly for food and even out of the resorts they suffer much more as I did adventure to a couple of other cities. I hope that most of this was due to the lack of people at the resort because the resort is beautiful and worth staying at.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Interesting Week!!

The hotel, rooms and staff are nice. However, the Customer Service Rep randomly gave out different amounts of A La Carte dinners to each guest. We had 2, another group had 3 some had 4. The whole resort is lacking in vegetables.m and the buffet was the same every day. The lounge in the evening was very smokey each night so we had to leave. Then there were a group of Russians that were very disruptive, loud, rude, naked and having sex on the beach and their balcony. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice resort but food issues

Beach, pool and staff a 10! Food really lacked in variety. It appears there are food shortages as menu same all 7 days and even fries non existence after day 1 of 7. Very little variety ever. Would not recommend at moment to others but if food improved I would recommend resort.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: All Good - But Rooms are outdated

Rooms needs updating - very old outlook and design. Tons of bugs at night. Otherwise, it is 3.5 star resort. Trust me. Would I go back? No way. Staff were nice. Beach is ok - sand weed. Food was good.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing resort

Second visit to this resort.A lot off sand flies now. They said that is the season. At the first visit wasn't. Over all beautiful pools , beach . And now they are ASKING for tips for $ only. They don't accept their currency!!!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Resort had its ups and downs

The resort is old and needs alot of repairs but it's Cuba they do what they can. However the pool was quite dirty not sure how they clean it but the bottom had white film on it. The beach was gorgeous.The rooms were ok. Clean and comfortable.the food tasted good but not much variety. Seemed to be very little on that end and when u pay for vacation you expect good food. Snacks anytime a nice pool and a good beach. The bartenders did not really know much about making drinks except their standard s [... read more]trawberry daquiri and Pina colada. But the staff were very friendly and worked very hard to make sure you were taken care of. Overall experience for a first time visitor 5 out of 10.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Iberostar Selection Playa Pilar NOT worth to be given 4+ star

The hotel itself was not as pictured. To begin with, the swimming pools were close to green dirty colour. The food selection was not enough and when they salt the food - they put tons of it. The a-la carte restaurants were not great as well - it’s the food they serve in the daily buffet but just placed it in a nicer portion and plating. The workers maid, servers and gardeners were amazing people. Would I come back to this Hotel? No I would not and would not recommend it to anyone.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great resort!

The hotel and staff were wonderful. But by far the beach was the best part. Aqua warm water and white sand. Great for long walks. The food was good on some days and not great on others. I never went hungry. Best mojito I have ever had (sports bar). Entertainment was a lot of fun. great live music and dancing in the lobby one day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Has its pros and cons

Beautiful and clean resort with amazing views + pools! We loved the entertainment (shoutout to the AMAZING twins that host). Getting into the nitty-gritty, the food had a really bad taste, assuming from the off cooking oil. Aside from being hungry 24/7, it was a good spot to vacation. But beware to my girls, some of the workers who were male would hit on me and make me uncomfortable and one day I watched one of the chefs call his friend over to look at a girls butt. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Viva Cuba

Big resort, great food and selection compared with many resorts in Varadero. Service and stuff are very good like we used to have in Cuba. Rooms are big and clean, some renovation work is due but for money we paid they’re just fine. Night shows are good and Tuesdays “Michael Jackson” show is the best one we ever had ( must see ). Only downside are mosquitoes and mosquitoes between 18:45 and 20:15 ( they arrive with first flight at 18:45 and they are very active until around 20:15 )😊!!  [... read more] With newer furniture in rooms and without mosquitoes around this resort would be 5 stars for everyone especially for the price we pay ! Cuban hospitality and great beaches are always present…. Since this resort is off the mainland many things are limited and expensive ( cigarettes, cigars, beer and liquor in their stores.. in duty free shop on the way back even more expensive ). Everything is priced in US dollars and they accept/prefer only US and Canadian dollars

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great experience

We just came back from this hotel, first week of October in 2022. The location of the hotel was great as it was located right by the beach. The staff were absolutely amazing, kind and welcoming. The food wasnt the greatest the first two days but it improved significantly over the course of the week. At all times, there was plenty of options in terms of meat (chicken, fish, beef, pork).As you can imagine, with the difficulties that a country like Cuba faces, there was some shortage of soap and h [... read more]and sanitizer in the common areas (the soap issue did not apply to the soap in the rooms). The rooms were clean and spacious.

Grounds were well maintained. Public washrooms were not always stocked (ie, TP) Staff was super nice and friendly Coffee and food was quite a letdown Shortage of supplies (soda, some alcohol, grill by the beach ran out of food) Considering we booked Diamond Club, the service in the buffet was no different (staffing shortage?)

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing resort with wonderful staff

I've been to Cuba many times, this is by far one of the best resorts I've been too. I traveled with my 11yr old son, 2 senior parents, my husband and brother there was always something to entertain us all. Food was great and staff was AMAZING. THANKS GRAND MUTHU FOR BECOMING OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: almost a 5 but not quite yet (because of shortages - not the resorts fault)!

been to cuba numerous times and this was definitely the most beautiful resort ive stayed at! the rooms were gorgeous and modern. the swim out was 100% worth it and would highly recommend. we spent the first half of the days on the beach and from around 2ish onwards (when the sun hits the swim out area) we'd be there till dinner. it was so lovely and were really happy we went for it. everyone there was incredible. so kind and happy and always there for guests. (bring lots of $1 USD + $5 CAD  [... read more]to tip with! they prefer it to pesos and coins unfortunately aren't very useful for them - try and load up on as much $1 bills before coming because no one will break money for you from the airport or resort). food was the only downside. we were hopeful after reading all the reviews and seeing the ratings however upon getting there, things are quite limited (but its due to shortages, no fault of the resort). the only time the buffet is open is for breakfast and then the snack bar was the one open 24/7 (and provides room service which was fun - even service to the swim up!) unfortunately for the snack bar (and cuba) there was a flour shortage which left only bun-less burgers and hot dogs, no pizza, a version of chicken strips, a version of calamari, and fries at the snack bar. they sometimes had pasta too. the al a cartes were nice, but not super exciting menu-wise. overall, portions were small but they truly did the best with what they had so be mindful of their efforts! overall, i would definitely recommend this resort but i would probably suggest waiting a few more months till things/maybe check in with the resort and see if buffet is open all the time/if theres any shortages. but other than that, i definitely think its a resort worth going to!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort!

We just arrived from Melia Cayo Coco on Sunday October 2,2022. This place is just amazing. Food is excellent, they even served delicious lobster on Cuban day, lots of seafoods and other selections of food. Cleanliness, friendly people and wonderful staff/employees are just a top notch. However...realize at times, food could get some people concerned. We had no issue or unreasonable concern. Cuba is enduring embargo and Covid leftovers as is rest of the world. Staffing is outstanding! Ladies on the front desk in some resorts can be standoffish. Not here each one engages customers with patience and enthusiasm and will stay with you till satisfied. Resort overall is clean and well sanitized, check out àny bathroom or their supplies to clean your rooms! Issues are few and I think easily resolved by active, managerial decisions....pull down screens at snackbar restaurant keep those birds from pooping on tables and chairs,,,,this is not safe. Also in Buffet flies in some areas are a concern 5 times in as many days I had to forgo food and drink. Only time I've encountered this in 20 years traveling Cuba or other international locations. Managers, visit your units and fix it!!! I must not forget room housekeepers for their hard work and attention to detail. It's great to have one maid for the entire stay. Jim, Milton.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good Value for the 'Off Season Price' I paid

I have been travelling to Cayo Coco for over 24 years, have stayed at 8 different resorts. Have stayed at other Memories (chain) Resorts. This was my first stay at Memories Caribe. PROS: Staff: were extremely helpful, would go out of their way to accommodate you, they were always extremely attentive to the needs of the clients. Grounds: Lush and beautiful, very well maintained, aesthetically pleasing. Walkways and pathways in good repair and 'Accessible'. Rooms: The Deluxe Superio [... read more]r Room I had on the ground floor was one of those recently renovated, it included an upgraded 'open concept' bathroom ...a sleeping area (mine had two double beds) ,and separated by a low partition a small sitting / dining area. There was a full balcony outside of the patio doors equipped with to arm chairs and a small table. Dining: Could be done in the Buffet which had a good variety of food, a bit repetitious, but tasty and well prepared. There is also a 24 hour snack bar which served the usual fare i.e. burgers, fries, or sandwiches and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. While there I dined in two of the a la cartes .. both were pleasant, the food was enjoyable. Bars: There were a few of them, I stuck to mostly the Lobby Bar, an air conditioned enclosed area, great for those hot or humid nights, or nights when you just want to escape the mosquitoes* Patio Area: Nicely appointed, runs the width of the lobby and lobby bar, a great area to gather, especially when there is entertainment provided which there was some nights. Pool System: It was one of the nicer ones I experienced, with the larger pool visible to the smaller area where the swim up bar is located. Other Special Features: There is a neat little 'coffee shop' / ice cream parlor tucked away beside the larger pool ... it is not to be missed (I missed it the first few days) The Amphitheatre: provided nice cultural shows, and for those who needed ... A More Lively Setting: there is night time entertainment in the form of visiting musicians and bands who are only too happy to have you interact with them .. i.e. dancing, singing along .. creating a party atmosphere if you choose to. The Beach: Like all others in Cayo Coco does not disappoint, however, I was there during the heavy weather as Hurricane Fiona and Ivan 'passed by'. While that area was not directly impacted and we were still able to enjoy nice sunny days with the odd 'brief' shower .. the ocean was a bit 'irregular' with seaweed washing up and schools of Jelly Fish near the shore in the more shallow area, you would have to navigate past them, but one you got to the open deeper water, it was fine. THE ONLY CON: The Mosquitoes in that area were 'relentless', the only reason I would not return to Memories Caribe is because of this nuisance. Being located between two lagoons, it is a natural breeding for these pests. It became just too much for me to constantly be applying repellent .. much of which didn't work against them anyway. I would only recommend this resort to those who are O.K. with battling mosquitoes, or are not bothered by them.

I’d rate this hotel a 3 maximum. The infinity swim up bar was closed and the water was full of algae , the other main pool was not all that clean either. The hotel beds are comfortable and the room was generally clean however the screen door lock was broken on the main floor and the shower tile was moldy. Overall the food was a 1 star . The mosquitoes are very bad , I had minimum 75 bites for a one week stay , as well as the sand flies . I understand this is the carribean however I have never experienced it like this before . The beach was not what you’d expect of a Cuban beach and the shore was covered in seaweed . I was travelling with my son and he is easy to please in terms of food, however the flies and bird feces all over the outdooor tables and chairs turned him off . Overall not the best experience .
