Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great COVID protocols

This was our third stay at Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar- adults only. Our last time was 4 years ago before the pandemic. We were very pleased with their safety protocols. All employees had to be fully vaccinated. Every employee had to wear a mask. In the buffet area everyone including guests wore a mask along with a plastic glove so you’re not accidentally touching something with bare hands. The adults only pool was very warm. The evening shows on the main stage were ok but the magic show was excellent. The 10 pm start evening shows in the Ambar lobby were really great and well choreographed. The quality of the food has improved. We got to try 4 a la carte restaurants. We really liked Portofino, MEAT and Rodizio the Brazilian steakhouse. You must make reservations and due to limited staff and CoVID restrictions we couldn’t get into all of them. The buffets give a large variety. The brand new Las Olas beach house is a beautiful spot for buffet lunch overlooking the ocean or the evening dinners if you can get a table at one of the 4 restaurants in this big new building. We walked a lot which we loved but the tram is there to use as the property is huge. We got our CoVID rapid antigen test tests performed by a nurse on Monday morning and our flight left Tuesday afternoon with Air Canada vacations. Great new 777 planes. We had our results emailed to us with plenty of time before departure. We were pleased with all safety protocols and the standards at this resort. Amazing value for the money. The staff are all very friendly and try hard to please the guests. We would definitely go back again.

Love the beach and food. The people working at the resort are friendly and want to make your stay pleasant. We have made friends with some of the staff. Every time we come back to this resort we enjoy our vacation immensely

very clean, great food with lots of options at the buffet, A la carte's were our favourite meals with lots of variety on the menu, always free beach chairs, friendly/welcoming staff. We were thrilled with our stay!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Better this time

Beach is awful, only rocks at the Sian Ka'an part. You have to go to the Tulum part of the resort at Kay beach, there you will find a 50-75 ft of beach which has a few rocks only. Food at buffet was good. A la carte Alus and Japanese excellent. 300 of 420 rooms rented to a film production co. at the moment, therefore pools are empty and you can get chairs at any time. They were true professionals. Was here 2 wks in Dec. and this time it was way better.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Resort - Staff made it special

Well maintained property. The rooms are a little dated compared to the other hotels on this giant resort. The staff made it special for us. Always a friendly smile and conversation. Temperature checks entering the front of the hotel and at all restaurants. Have to wear a glove when using the buffets. Some people seemed to ignore that requirement.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: 2nd visit for us, will definitely return for a 3rd!!

Hotel was very clean, great job with sanitizing and gloves and masks while indoors in groups ... they used common sense which was nice! Only 1 lunch option restaurant and 1 small bar opened at some peak times left back ups for drinks. I like the new sports bar area with entertainment, wish there was more of the adult shows there and live music with children activities at Village instead. Staff were friendly, accommodating and work extremely hard! We tipped as much as possible and left many gifts to show how thankful we were.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort!!

We stayed at the resort between January 27- February 10 and we loved it!! Food was great, entertaining team was awesome. Resort and beach was very clean, staff were very friendly Most of all we were there with 2 kids, 11 and 8. My 8 years old loved the kids club. Every single day they had some new activities and fun things to do for the kids. The only thing is gym is very run down and very small. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Top notch resort!

Being Jamaican myself, I can’t get over how amazing the food was!!!😮It’s not easy to cook Jamaican meals on a big scale like they do for the resort and capture the same taste as you would for your small family! I’m so happy with my stay that my partner and I have decided to visit the said resort at least twice per year. We came back home and told our adult kids about the AMAZING experience we’ve had, they were excited to book the next trip with us. Our next trip will be before year end and instead of 2 there will be 7 of us, at least!!!! I’ve always stayed with hotel chain ( Grand Bahia) whenever I travel ( punts Cana & la romana) but have never done Jamaica. Jamaican experience got us locked in as life members 😁I’m blown away. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing swim up room

The Bahia Principe Ambar was sold out while we were there but it didn't feel overcrowded. The swim up room is totally worth it because you have your own deck, loungers, and private pool with almost no one around you at any one time. Nice and peaceful. The beach is excellent, lots of palapas and loungers, and good staff to bring you drinks from the beach bar. Super chill, party if you want around the main pool in the afternoon, but nothing too crazy.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Great Resort - beautiful grounds, good food - rooms sparkling clean but could use updating

First Note - I would go back to this resort - it was not perfect but was really good. Grounds- the grounds are lush and gorgeous. The buildings are pretty - some older with Caribbean charm and others more updated Room -we were in 81401 which was top floor in front of the pool. It was very clean, smallish closet, but had shelves and cupboards that provided everything we needed. The bed was very firm (bordering on hard) and there were lots of pillows. Towels were changed every day. The [... read more] housekeeping staff did an excellent job. Good safe to secure your valuables. The hallways echo so you can hear loud people coming and going but we only experienced this once. Air conditioning and water pressure were good. The room was very dated - we would prefer a modern and updated room. The room cards had to be replaced a few times as they sometimes wouldn’t work. Pool - very clean, lots of chairs and umbrellas and cabanas. Pool temp was perfect. The loungers were older but worked great. Beach/pool towels - not great. They use the old system of towel cards so you can only ever have one towel at a time. (Not enough for me but others wouldn’t care). The Towel bar doesn’t open until 9:00 which is late for some of us (7:00 is what I would expect). But when they are open you can get or exchange your towels easily. Beach - gorgeous white sandy beach - beach frontage has decreased due to water levels rising therefor the loungers are very cramped. No beach service provided for Aquamarine. Check-in - they seemed a bit disorganized at the start but we got on the first tram to the aquamarine lobby so it was faster for us. Restaurants- 1. Reservations: our friends send an email a week prior to our arrival asking for dinner reservations each night, with a time range and leaving the days for each reservations to the resort to sort - unfortunately they didn’t make a single reservation for us. They scrambled on our arrival and got us 5 a la carte reservations but most of them were late. Maybe the APP would have been more reliable however we didn’t want to provide personal identification information on the APP, which was required. 2. Food: the food was very good. Breakfast at the buffet had lots of variety and was very fresh. Lunches were good - poolside paellas were excellent and the burgers were ok. Buffet restaurants for lunch were good. Our favorite restaurant was El Olivo. - fantastic food and excellent servers. The other restaurants were: Mikado, Meat, Limbo, Protofino, Bella Italian. Good food - some great. Staff - most staff were excellent- many did not speak much English.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Nice hotel pitty about the food

The hotel was nice and the staff were lovely but the food really let the place down the breakfast food was cold and dinners were ok nothing that stands out probably since they are reopening fully from covid maybe it will be better once all restrictions are done

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: This is a beautiful resort!

We found the grounds, pools and beach clean and safe. The food was great and the people very friendly. Because of covid the staff all wore masks. The restaurants are very clean and everyone had to ware their mask unless eating or drinking.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: amazing resort except the food

the Palmira buffet at the Luxury Esmeralda served only cold food. The breakfast was OK but the lunch and dinner was repeatative and always cold. One day they ran out of eggs. Ha, eggs? One day the beach bar had no beer, only foreign beer for sale, at a 5 star? The beach buffet had a good lunch. The alla carte dinners were ok, but always cold. There was a worm in it. I would submit a picture if this survey had that option. The tables at the beach buffet were suposedly cleaned and a blue card placed on the table indicating so. The blue card was placed on the table but the tables were not always cleaned. We like the line dancing they have everey night at the Punta Cana hotel. The entertainment staff do a great job to lead novice dancers in the dance. The beach dance is terrific as well. I would recomment the hotel just for the enternainment staff, beach, buildings. The food really needs a makeover and is not 5 star.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Lots of fun

1st time at the grand aquamarine and it was everything we hoped it would be. Never a dull moment. Staff and COVID protocols were exceptional. I only wished they enforced it more with the guests. I wonder if they can make a position out of mask enforcement. The food was great for the most part. Only issue was a lot of sugar and salt in everything. The food and service was beyond inexcusable. It needs a quality control intervention. 1.5 hour wait for our first meals and execution of the food was terrible… and no service with a smile…no service at all. It was a shame, as the rest of the restaurants we went to were incredible. I would say the staff were worked to the bone and spread thin though. Rooms were lovely! Everything felt safe and clean. The activities were fun and lively. For the price point this resort checked all of the boxes. Will return for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Lots of Fun!

Overall a fabulous place to stay in Mexico. The beach was a little bit rocky in some parts which made it hard to walk out in the water. I got eaten alive by potentially sand flees, but that could happen anywhere. The wildlife was adorable, and so friendly. Unfortunately my friend cut himself on the bottom of the pool and needed to get stitches. Carlos was amazing dealing with the situation. I can’t wait to plan my next trip.

Wonderful experience at Bahia Principe Aquamarine! Front desk personnel were exceptionally resourceful, kind and thoughtful. Agents running restaurant bookings were patient, diligent and accommodating. Activities offered were engaging and fun. Stellar all round!

The hotel and grounds were fantastic! Just what I needed to escape the dreary ho-hum of winter. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the food and drinks were plentiful and great as well. I can't wait to book with Martine again and come back to Grand Bahia!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful Resort

We stayed here about 6 years ago and decided to go back as we enjoyed it then and wanted to see what changes have been made. We booked our room on line and also 3 of the restaurants. They upgraded us to a corner room, which was a nice bonus. With 7 hotels on the property it is nice to be able to walk around and really never have to leave the property. He was always around and very helpful and talkative. Our favorite restaurant was the Limbo, we also ate at the meat and Greek restaurant. Our room was cleaned daily and fridge was restocked as well. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. We enjoyed the pools as well as the ocean. It was nice to get away after not being able to travel for 2 years. We had our PCR test at the resort and had the results back later that evening. All the staff including the gardeners wore masks at all times. Everyone is very friendly. We have already recommended people to this resort and property.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Simply one of the best.... by far

I have been to this resort 3 times over the last 8 years. Bang for buck it's a number 1. The beach is amazing and the resort very well designed and maintained. Food is decent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Issues when they come up are dealt with in a timely fashion. I've recommended this resort to friends and family and all said the would definitely return. I still travel to other resorts and counties but this is my favorite "go to" resort. Highly recommended.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Travel to Bahia Principe after lockdowns

Over all we are impressed with the Bahia Principe family of resorts. We travelled through out all 4 resorts in the Mayan riviera- and were impressed by the safety measures in affect. Our room was sanitized before we arrived, gloves were provided upon arrivals to all restaurants and buffets, and hand sanitizer stations all over the hotels. Masks were worn by all staff- and the policy was enforced when in all common areas. We only have 4 stars for rooms as the rooms at Tulum are updated and Akumal [... read more] is still waiting for an update, pools and beaches are ok- but you can travel to the other resorts to partake. Overall- an amazing trip as always at the Bahia!
