Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: So nice.
This resort was very nice ! Really close to the airport , great ocean with no seaweed. Pools were kept very clean , food was really good !! Night shows were really budget but they are everywhere !! lol.
Nice staff and good clean rooms!! Would totally go back.
Beautiful resort, excellent food and drinks, very professional and super nice people working in the resort. The beach is one of the bests we've seen. We will be back for sure, We were in the building 90, which is the closest to the beach, Shuttle service very good if you want to go to Bavaro or Punta Cana lobby, as Esmeralda lobby is closed at 11:30 PM.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: True Review
Stayed at the Majestic Elegance From Sept 14-21st 2014. I'm giving a 5 star as we had a 5 star time! There were some issues but I know there are issues at every resort, I have never seen a resort listed here that didn't have some bad reviews, so here it goes....
Upgraded to the Club section, worth it. We arrived and were directed to the Club check in and were greeted by the wonderful staff and the general manager Guillermo who was super nice and friendly. Our butler was Juan, he did a great job[... read more] always asking if we needed something and always left a nice surprise in our room daily. One day he had a warm bubble bath with rose peddles waiting for us, so nice!
Staff were all fantastic, Maxima and Keilen at the pool bar were great and Roooobbbbeeeerrrrtto at the main lobby bar was awesome, had some great laughs and super service. See you soon Roberto!
Towels and chairs were plenty and the towel guys were always nice and friendly. Drinks were strong and good. Beer was bla but you could get Dos XX or other brands by the can if you upgraded to Club.
Room was beautiful, large and spacious, king size bed was great and we slept very well. Mini bar was stocked daily and we had 4 smaller bottles of booze for our use too. Maid service was ok, bed always made, room cleaned up and towel replenished but the cleaning part lacked, not a lot of "scrubbing". A/C was good but sometimes a faith septic smell came in the room, when this happened we just turned off the A/C for a bit...no biggie.
Beach always amazing, sometimes seaweed ended up on beach but not often...its and ocean...it happens!!!!! Geez.
Ground were amazing, gorgeous. resort was just the right size, not too big not too small, perfect.
Shows were ok same old stuff. The foam party was awesome fun, but be careful tiles around pool are already slippery and the foam made it dangerous! Be careful.
Food was ok, not great, needs some work, both of us got the "runs" for a couple day but this was NOT travellers poop. Food needs a bit of work but did the trick.
Sports bar was a lot of fun. Giant TV's and perfect A/C and couches.
Didn't do casino or disco.
Animation team was outstanding, soooo much energy and fun...great work!!!!
Some hand dryers didn't work and no paper towels in some washroom, this needs attention asap.
Minor issues of repair at pools, rooms and washroom, management should fix otherwise resort is at a 4 1/2 star.
Overall a great time, had a blast will be back!!!!!
Cheers!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great resort with a little unpleasant last day exp
In general the hotel and the service were pretty good. The food was diverse and we were offered drinks at any time. Some days though it seemed like the food served at the buffet was from the leftovers from the previous day. We paid attention to that after one morning the pancakes we picked for breakfast were very hard to chew on. Our favorite from the restaurants where we made reservations for dinner, was the French one at Amber- amazing food, presentation and service. The Japanese restaurant wa[... read more]s also good. However, on our last night we made a reservation at the Mediterranean restaurant. First we waited for an hour for our food during which we experienced ants and a cockroach crawling on our table. Then we saw two more huge cockroaches- one coming out of the wine cupboard at the restaurant and one outside our room. Besides the unpleasant last night experience, we spent a pretty good one week over there.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Great trip
Dreams punta Cana has amazing service and a beautiful resort. My sister had her wedding there and the wedding planner Yessica was amazing. The bathrooms could use some updating in the regular rooms and I wish the beach didn't have rocks so you could swim anywhere. The entertainment staff were so much fun at the pool and I will definitely miss all the ladies that worked at the cafe.
My wife, another couple and I, friends for over 35 years just returned from a one-week stay at the Majestic Elegance-Preferred Section.
We arrive shortly after 9PM and the check-in at the elegance club was quick and painless. We had a relatively quick tour of the resort due to the timing and our luggage was quickly delivered to our rooms, which were located on the second floor adjacent to each other, 2244 & 2245. We were very happy with both the location and proximity to the beach as well as th[... read more]e pool. After a quick meal we retired to our rooms for the evening. We loved the way the pools were set up, gardens, and the set up of the resort. The room was nice and a good size, mini bar was well stocked daily without issue. The housekeeping team did a fine job keeping the room clean and we had no major issues throughout the week with the room. My wife and I were not big fans of the bathroom setup but enjoyed everything else about the room & balcony. Overall the room was a four out of five with few improvements easily making into a five but nothing major just some minor freshening up.
Good marks to the pool and beach area, the Bali beds and loungers were in abundance and never an issue. It’s always nice not to have to get up early and rush to the pool or beach to get a spot prior to the rush. This may have been more due to the time of year and the fact the resort was not near capacity. Regardless it was a positive experience for the week. I would give it a good rating on the Pool and Beach area based on our experience.
The elegance club upstairs lounge was nice and we visited frequently later in the evening and prior to dinner. Service in this area was good and snacks were also a hit. Maria was a great hostess and did a great job meeting our needs. This is an added feature from my last visit and is a good touch. We had something similar at the Secrets and they’re a good added feature.
Meals-We ate at the main buffet every day for breakfast and had a couple of evening meals there as well. Your standard-type buffets with several different options nothing to get too excited about or too much to complain about either. The service in the buffet was good; we were seated almost immediately and were well taken care of during our visit mostly by Carlos who did a great job of taking care of us and made us feel welcome. Restaurants met our expectations with the exception of the Seafood restaurant, which did not meet any of the group’s expectations and I would recommend avoiding. In the Caribbean my expectations on a good steak are minimal and the Steak House did a good enough job with our steaks as all were cooked as requested. We chose not to visit the Japanese based on past experiences and the Gourmet Restaurant also was a good experience. Overall all meals were reasonable with good service with the exception of the one night already mentioned. I generally don’t don’t have issues with the food but both my wife and I experienced a bad day or so nearer to the end of the week.
We did very little other than relax, as the entertainment as is common was very limited and similar to other resorts. The lobby bar was very warm or should I say hot and uncomfortable so we ended up hanging out a few times in the Elegance clubroom where the air conditioning and service kept the room comfortable.
Everything up to our last day made our experience relatively positive and I definitely would have considered returning. I always like to upgrade to premium service. Although I recommend we did not use any of the extra perks with the exception of the Club Room, which in itself plus room location made it worthwhile. One perk that was intriguing was the included Late Check option especially with a departure of after 5PM. Of course there is a disclaimer that states subject to availability but with it being low season I may have incorrectly assume lots of availability. I requested a late checkout from our Butler who we made no other request throughout the week. The first reply was they would look into but couldn’t confirm anything until the day of departure or quite possibly late the night before. Well I received that phone call around 9:30PM that we would need to be out of our rooms and they were needed. They would however give us a courtesy room to use at the opposite side of the resort. That obviously didn’t sit well so I spoke with the Concierge in clubroom and asked to speak with a manager. I was informed one was not available but she was willing to address and proceeded to make a call. She spoke with someone on the phone for significant amount of time and than forwarded the phone to me. It was the same person I spoke to earlier and I was told again more or less too bad that the rooms were needed and I need to be out. After he hung up I spoke with the Concierge who could not believe how rude the individual was being and then suggested I speak with the manager in the morning. In fact she stated she would have the manager phone me in the morning. I did not receive a phone call so I went to the front desk to see someone and was told there was no manager available as they were in meetings. Again I was told I could not stay in the room and needed to exit so the new guests could get the room. We were give keys for the new room and went to scope out, they were as I said on the opposite side of the resort. We went back to the room and began packing to move our stuff. While in the process at around 10:30 I received a phone call telling us we needed to be out of the room. I stated we were in the process of moving and was told someone is waiting for the room. I again said we were in the process of packing up. The individual was again kind of rude which surprised me as it was nowhere near 12:00 and they seem to be pressuring us to get out. We did get moved to the new room where we needed to move our valuables and set up the safe. I would say by the time we setup it was close to 12 and a good half our time left was shot. Overall we had a good 6 days with the seventh day causing some displeasure with everyone in the group. We generally are pretty accommodating but the whole experience with the checkout just left a sour taste in all of our mouths. When leaving I tried to speak to a Manager but again was told he wasn’t available. Everything possible was done to avoid that discussion and the interference put up at the front desk was surprising and the first I have experienced. Needless to say I won’t visit this resort again or recommend it to anyone and I believe this is the first time I have ever said that.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Grand Paradise Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata, DR
Spent Sept. 22-29, 2014 at Grand Paradise. It was a great resort for the money. Our room was a superior garden view, it was large, clean - we noticed the lock on the glass door was broken as well as the blow dryer in the batherroom. I called guest services and both were fixed within a hour. Staff very friendly. Nice pool and beach area. The food was good, we ate in the buffet for all meals.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Victor the Butler
beautiful hotel and the food was good but not great. We had Victor as our Butler who met us at the front desk just after checkin. He quickly told us what he could do for us including bringing us pillows and a daily paper. We thought this was great and gave him 20 dollars to start the week. After two days and no paper or pillows I went to the desk to ask for a newspaper to read, only to be told our Butler would look after us. Well I wasn't going to wait for over two days for pillows or papers and[... read more] told the desk person. The pillows finally showed but when we saw Victor he wouldn't even acknowledge us. Guess he got his money and that was enough. As far as Air Tran I would never book with them again, we paid extra for Options Plus for priority baggage and my bag was the last bag to come off the plane go figure, At the airport in Dominican they left us between the gate and plane for over 30 minutes in the heat awaiting plane problems.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: best yet
excellent, most staff offered exceptional service. A few minor things... spout on bathroom sink is too short > water splashing everywhere... shower doors do not close properly > water everywhere...... I don't hafta clean it up. Had face cloths for first 3 days, then none for the rest of our 7 day stay. Stayed late Sept. 2014. Hot and very humid!!!!!!! 33 and feels like 45. If there's now wind, yikes! Best vacation ever though.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Worst vaction ever
I love travelling to Dominican Republic, and have travelled to Playa Dorado 4 times. I have stayed at this resort before, and I became friends with many of the entertainment and bar staff, and it was for this reason that I returned for this trip.
However this trip was a disaster. The staff that we had enjoyed speaking with were no longer working there, due to the fact that the hotel was not paying them in a timely manner. We stayed at the resort for two weeks, and throughout that time there was[... read more] only one a la carte restaurant that was open, and the menu only slightly changed every night. The salad bar was constantly the same items, and everynight the food would come to the table cold.
The bar was constantly running out of beer, juice and vodka. We complained to the manager about this and we were offered one night in the VIP dining room. This seemed like a compromise so we agreed. The night we went to the VIP dining, we walked in and the waiter looked at our bands and said "oh ya, I was told about you". He then proceeded to give us the worst service of my life. He didn't offer us soup, and when I asked about it he said they didn't have any. I responded by asking why the couple next to us was eating soup and he responded "that's not soup, it's a warm mushroom cream", talk about splitting hairs.
The breakfast buffet was by far the worst. They didn't serve bacon, and when we asked about it they promised us that they would have it the next day, they didn't. every day they would tell us that they would have it tomorrow, yet they didn't. The one and only day that they did have bacon on the buffet was when there was a Spanish baseball team staying at the hotel, and they had a scheduled breakfast for 830, a tray of bacon was brought out a 835, and the baseball team, along with all the supervisory and management staff filled their plates. When we came to the buffet the kitchen brought us a plate with one piece of bacon and the bacon crumble from the pan. It was insulting.
Everytime we made a complaint the manager completely ignored us. I suggest that this hotel be removed from sunwings website.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Great vacation but a bit misleading
It's not 2 resorts in 1 like we were told. It's actually 4 resorts all together Bavaro, punta canta, Esmeralda and ambar. Bavaro and punta Cana are mirror versions of each other but they are not beach front properties like described by west jet on trip central. They are the first resorts as you pull up to the properties and then ambar and Esmeralda are the resorts that sit right behind them on the beach. This was very disappointing as it made for a super long walk to the beach from Bavaro becaus[... read more]e it was not beachfront/directly on the beach. They had shuttles, but there were a few times where we had to wait for 15-20 min for it to pick us up. Travelling with a 7 month old and a stroller made getting on and off the shuttles difficult. Had we known that the resort was that far from the beach we would not have booked this resort.
My parents also booked with us but not through trip central. We each emailed the resort prior to book our a la carte restaurants. When we got there they did not have the correct reservations for my husband and I and didn't have any at all for my parents.
The lobby shuts down promptly at 11pm, they even turn off all the lights. There is also a LOT of smokers in this area which is unpleasant if travelling with a baby.
A lot of Mosquitos in our room every single day. My parents had 2 cockroaches in their room, we had connecting rooms on the ground floor. Initially we were on the 3rd floor and after we checked in and got to our rooms, my parents room had a flood and maintenance workers were in their room. Not sure why they would allow us to go to the room if it wasn't ready. Then our room keys didn't work. It took a while before we were able to get into our rooms.
Food was decent. Lots of selection with the buffet and a la carte restaurants were good. Service was great, staff are very prompt and friendly.
There is absolutely no difference between Bavaro and punta Cana. Punta Cana was much cheaper when we booked but we didn't realize this.
Overall we had a good time but the resort not being directly on the beach was very misleading and disappointing.
Grounds are beautiful, beach is beautiful (a lot of sea weed), pools are great.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Incredible resort, a very relaxing vacation
The resort was very close to the ocean, the grounds were maintained very well at all times.
The staff were very helpful in providing advise on activities and excursions that can be done.
The food was outstanding, there was a large selection of items at every buffet, and each meal had a different assortment of food.
I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a tropical vacation.
We spent a 7 day all inclusive vacation in this resort along with 2 other couples, since I have arranged for my friends to stay in this resort I was so relieved that it exceeded our expectation. The grounds are meticulously manicured, the suites are immaculately clean, the food is very tasty and there is always something one can eat even for a picky eater, the staff- are very welcoming, friendly and entertaining. You can tell that they love working at the resort. I celebrated my birthday in Boug[... read more]anville and I must say that I will treasure that day forever- they decorated our table with flowers, ballons, champagne and of course cake along with a jovial singing from the staff!! ... it was a truly memorable experience.
There are many shade and lounges and cabanas along the beach and pool.
The only suggestions I can make are:
- to have a soft live entertainment at the lobby/bar area to at least up to 12PM, a soloist or a pianist will be perfect.
- do something about the flies, gnat and mosquitoes. I have travelled all oover the carribean and I am careful to not go during the rainy season because of these bugs so I was very surprised to have experienced these bites!
I just finished my trip at this resort last week. I have been to Jamaica and Cuba. This resort is the most comfortable and enjoyable among all the resorts I have been to. the steaks were incredible. My tastebud is spoiled by the high quality and wide selection of the food availlable. The interesting thing is that the staff don't seem to expect tips when they provide room services or other extra services. I still gave tips but it is just more pleasant when it is not expected. The only downside is[... read more] the TV is not as updated. It would turn on and off by itself. But this is a very small imperfection that didn't spoil the trip at all. I am impressed that the beach chairs were maintained on a regular basis so I never have trouble finding clean seats no matter what time I go to the beach. If the pools can be open at night that will be great.
The circus and Michael Jackson shows are AMAZING. A must see. I am impressed at the quality of the shows within a resort. Also there are always some small surprises here and there. One day there are staff offering beach BBQ. The Lamb chops were to die for. You only get that quality of meat in 5 star hotel in Canada.
The room was just lovely. Very spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The staff come clean the room twice a day, which is impressive. I just cannot say enough good things about this resort and will definately recommend friends and family to try out.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Birthday get away!
My boyfriend and I spent a week at Be Live Grand Marien to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we approached the check in counter we felt welcomed. We arrived at the resort around 3pm and we were invited to have lunch at the buffet restaurant while they finished getting our room ready. The food was delicious and when we returned to reception 30 minutes later our room was ready. We had a room on the 1st floor of the 4th block which is one of the non-renovated blocks, nonetheless the room was n[... read more]ice and spacious and very well decorated. The bed was massive and very comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast at the buffett almost every morning and they had a great selection of hot and cold food options, fresh blended on the spot fruit juices, fresh fruit, breads, and hot and cold cereal. The same buffett restaurant offers lunch and dinner, again great options during both food services with great staff taking care of you. We had the opportunity to enjoy 2 of the 3 a la carte restaurants as depending on the occupancy of the resort only 1 or 2 of the a la carte restaurants may be open on any given night. There is a rotating schedule which determines which restaurant will be open on which night, so I suggest you make your dinner reservations sooner rather than later. We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant which offered delicious food, I high recomment the Beef Salpicon appetizer...I could eat that and only that for the rest of my life! We had my birthday dinner at the Brazilian restaurant and what a treat it was. 7 different meats skewered and they come to your table and they tell you "say when" as they pile beef, chicken, pork, sausage, turkey, and 2 others onto your plate...absolutely amazing! We didn't get a chance to try the Gourmet restaurant but from what I was told it they offer an intimate candle lit 3 course dinner, it sounded lovely.
The resort grounds were beautiful, very very clean, well maintained, everything looked picture perfect. The pool was excellet with a pool bar and great bartenders looking after your every need. The beach was just what we needed. Plenty of beach beds and lots of canopys to lay under. A little more seaweed than I liked close to the beach but it's all part of the experience. I didn't see any vendors on the beach which was very very nice. All in all, a great resort, not too big so it's easy to get around and all the staff if great. The entertainment staff are true artists ensuring you are enjoying every moment of your stay. Hector with the entertainment crew is a jack of all trades, truly wonderful to see how happy he is at all times ensuring you are always having a good time. It was our first vacation together and we enjoyed every single moment, I would go back in a heart beat!

Paradise Playa Dorada: The worst resort.
This hotel was NOT inclusive in my books because we had to pay $48 for one week of wifi and the wifi is not to the room it is to each individual's phone so my girlfriend had to pay $48 for wifi too. Totalling $96. Every step on resort grounds they are trying to sell you something as if we don't get that enough outside the resort from the locals. The food options are extremely slim. Occidental Punta Cana: very nice and clean resort, just the right size
overall this resort met our expectations, fantastic bartenders, especially Santos at the lobby bar. the resort was kept cleaned daily. Maids also kept our room cleaned. The a-la-carte restaurants were fine, especially the steak house
