Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Disappointed

I stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe chain before (Jamaica) and I had really liked it. Having recently stayed at the Punta Cana Bavaro location I was Not impressed. The food options were horrible, service was poor, beach had too much seaweed which was annoying. Pool was great and the location was close to airport about 20mins so not too bad. Riu Bambu: Kids, kids and more kids

Arrived at this resort at noon on a Saturday, the 1st week in September and by 2pm when we went to get our room assignment we had had enough. Too many children yelling, screaming, jumping and splashing in all of the pools. Could not get near the buffet table for lunch without a child or adult elbowing there way along. The food was not that great anyway. Very noisy. This is a club hotel so we found out later. We were able to upgrade to a nearby resort on Monday and so happy we did. Listed at a 4*+ resort but only in their dreams. 3* at best POSITIVES: Great place for families if you don't like to eat much.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Nope

Wont go back Rooms were outdated, constantly had to be calling maintenance to fix things in the room, broken fridge, broken handles on the drawers , the closet broke off the hindges, the shower soap holder was rotted off the handle, the balcony sliding door was hard to slide back n forth half the time the sliding door got stuck and the Dominican aggresive flies attacked our room. My husband and I tried killing the flies with towels but they wouldnt die lol. The toilet water keep running all nigh [... read more]t so our room was constantly noisey with the toliet water noise running all day n nite. The food was HORRIBLE, you would think the a la cartes would be better and it wasnt. They have a sea food a la carte BEWARE they make you pay extra for the sea food ( not sure why they even call it sea food a la carte ) . The waiter staff are rude, the staff can barely speak proper english or even understand proper english, they are only friendly to their own ppl or ppl who speak spanish. The beach and pools are OKAY, if your staying in Puerta Plata _ take the time and spend the money to grab a cab n visit the local beach Sosua ( GORGEOUS BEACH ) the ppl are bit nicer n friendlier there, u will find more english speaking ppl and ppl who understand english better. Gorgeous view and the food seemed a bit better there too. The Dominican men and women are very good looking just not the friendliest ppl unless your giving them money of course. Would i go back ? Ya - but not to that resort , for me and my advice to anyone who has never been there before _ spend the extra money and stay at a 5 star resort nothing less not even a 4 star _ 5 star or nothing if u want a decent stay down there_ or go to Punta Cana ( which I heard the beaches are much nicer ) al though Sosua was VERY NICE ! More actions and parties and more things to do in Puerta Plata thou.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Very enjoyable!

Had a very enjoyable week at the Bahia! With the multiple pools and the beach, there are lots of options. There is an animation team who keep everyone entertained (Jhonny & Cowboy). Food is good, lots of options. Definitely would return.

Occidental Punta Cana: great beach

Resort was great for my first time on an all inclusive resort. Staff was very friendly. The beach was gteat and had wonderful white sand. Guest services was very helpful as well. Tge sports barwas great and regularly showed NFL games in english.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: DISAPPOINTED!

Soo sad, really. The food is substandard. You will not be impressed. We met 5 women travelling from Montreal who also felt the same way so it's not about being picky. The buildings are lovely but the food is no where near the quality of other resorts. Poor but the beach was lovely and also the weather but if you think your're getting 5 star with Butler service (they never present themselves) it's a joke. Three people went thru my safe but somehow the phone mysteriously appeared the nite we were leaving (we were on the beach the whole day and did not return until we were ready to shower and check out. The hotel would not take responsibility and were actually quite rude.They tried oo have me sign some written affadavit to say that I was satisfie d with how the hotel handled the situation which was very far from satisfactory. They assured me that I had lost it. When I threatened them with a lawyer the phone appeared in our LOCKED SAFE!e Needless to say it was all quite shady. DONOT ASSSUME YOU ARE SAFE IN THESES HOTEL. I never thought I woud be the one writing one of these reeviews. It's a sad way to spend your holiday when you don't feel safe in your room. This was the first trip I took with my only daughter to de-stress. No luck! This is the second time I've returned to Bahai Prinicpe and have recommended this property to friends from a previous stay. I will not recommend it to anyone. Save your hard earned dollars or gosomewhere with a good rep.

Blau Natura Park Resort: great resort

An older building. Could do with upgraded furniture. The unit was on the 2nd floor, with air conditioner and ceiling fan. The setting was park-like, with flowing stream and quaint wooden bridge. The gardens were well manicured. The mosquitoes were wild. The staff were excellent. The chefs, wait staff, house keeper and bar men were friendly and helpful. The entertainment was OK. The game space was opened for a short while in the evening. Perhaps 10am to 10pm would give more options to the guests. [... read more] The food was better than I expected. Perhaps better snacks. Overall an enjoyable get away.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great!!!

Friendly, clean and always some to do! great beaches!!!!, different to other places,great variety of foods,nice and big open lobby and high ceiling, great pools and beach activities, close to the beach, etc!!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Nice people

Everyone from the maids to the owner is nice and friendly. Food was surprisingly good! I was thinking that i should go for a 4 or 5 stars hotel but trust me this Grand paradise is right as it is! If you want to book don't hesitate

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Great Resort

We recently traveled to Dreams Punta Cana for 10 days. The resort was very clean and the staff extremely friendly. We had some trouble with our room the first day, the key card wouldn't work after three attempts to activate and we were in a different room from which we originally booked. They were able to switch us by the next day. The restaurants had amazing food and great service. We had a great time and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Amazing resort!

the grounds very clean, the rooms were nice and updated with flat screen t.v. the beds were very comfortable the wash rooms were updated with tub and shower, but some rooms had no hair dryer, they installed a hair dryer on the third day of my stay, the food for me was awesome I did gain some weight lol, the front of the resort didn't impress me at all, but when I walk into the grounds of the resort it just wow me. Catalonia Bavaro Resort: this hotel is well worth the dollsrs spent

Rooms are clean and brightly lit grounds are kept well and groomed daily. The restaurants and buffet I'd quite good. I wld recommend the Japanese. And the Mexican. All of the restaurant. Provide a variety of foods for every ones taste

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: below expectation

-Maybe it's just our bad luck, but 6 out of 7 days, the beach is full of seaweeds. and because of that the Pools are always full of people. -Beach is not as nice as in Cuba and the water is too deep for swimming. -Except for the Reception desk, service staff does not speak English. -Food is just so so. This is my first time to Dom Rep., and many peoples told me to expect better food than Cuba, but to me it's about the same level as in Cuba, even with a-la-carte restaurants. Riu Palace Punta Cana: Not the Riu Palace experience I heard or expected

Resort was lovely. However the rooms were damp; slippery floors, sheets felt wet every night. Rooms are outdated and can use an upgrade. Disappointed that at the Disco you had to pay for drinks. This is a first. At check out no one helped with our bags or asked how was our stay.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Quiet Getaway

Our 2nd visit to this resort and first with our young daughter (4 yrs). The beach is lovely with soft white sand and great for long walks that can go for miles. The ocean in front of the resort is gentle and great for kids due to the reef not far from shore. The new splash park with a lifeguard for the kids was a wonderful new addition since our last visit. As with most Bahia resorts, the food in the buffet is of good quality and enough variation as to not get boring for a weeks stay. The staff [... read more] in the buffet were always attentive and pleasant. The rooms are simple with not a lot of "fancy" features but always cleaned well. Mattress was firm with plenty of pillows and clean sheets. My only complaint would be that you had to pay an additional fee for the room safe ($4 a day) which should be included in your package so you didn't have the additional hassle at check in. Lots of construction going on with the addition of more rooms but didn't adversely affect our stay in any way. This quiet location won't be our secret too much longer...

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Loved the Ambar!

Enjoyed my stay at the Ambar! The staff was accommodating,food over the top,Cleanliness impeccable. We were so pampered! We will defintely return to this place. I highly recommend it!What was there not to like. We were so relaxed one of my best vacations..

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice Resort

The hotel was great, rooms were clean, AC worked perfectly. The buffet was a bit limited, too much of the same thing all the time. Restaurants were great, especially the seafood. I loved my dinner there. I did not like that fact that I lost 2 hrs out of my vacation because this company on the resort was trying to sell me time share stuff. That should be advertised, and if you are interested, then you go check it out. The worst thing for me was the peddlers on the beach. there was no peace and qu [... read more]iet. for the 7 days that I was there, they kept coming at you everyday. I prefer spending my time at the beach rather than by the pool, but it was not very relaxing for me, which is why I chose this resort. It was adult only, so I thought it would be more quiet. I really enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The team was great, they would always great you outside of the entertainment. All in all it was a great experience, but I personally would not go back there.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: BED BUGS!

We found out our room had bed bugs on the 4th night after being terribly bitten all over by them. We went to management and they said there was nothing they could or would do. It ruined our vacation and when we got back to Canada we had to have all of our clothes treated for bed bugs. Awful experience!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Resort

Very beautiful resort (and huge) with a just as beautiful beach. My one disappointment was that my Prestige Superior Ocean Front View room had a courtyard full of palm trees between it and the ocean..

Ocean Sand Golf and Beach Resort: Second Trip Excellent Resort!

We had a great time for tne moment we arrived. Staff was great, very helpful, and looked after anything we needed. We stayed in building 5 poolside , great location, central to everything, rooms very clean. We ate at the buffet as well as the al carte's, food was great at all. Weather was good, rained at night 3 times but didn't stop us for getting around. Would we go back, yes in a second! Other then that the sand was great and you could walk right in the ocean and swim around very clean both. Would recomment this resort to anyone without a problem.
