Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort but with Management issues

The hotel was awesome, immaculate grounds, pools, food, activities etc- all what a 5 STAR resort should be. However, we experienced some problems that took away from the perfect resort experience. We could not get into our room until several hours past the check in time and entered a moldy, musty smelling room that took several hours to air out, the rooms were not cleaned daily until late afternoon,after 4:00, we had a leak in our ceiling,no hot water for 2 days, the mini fridge did not work for [... read more] 5 days, and our dinner reservations were incorrect on 3 occasions. We traveled with another couple and they experienced similar problems, so affecting us as well. The staff were great,but management to take care of these issues were not satisfactorily effective in addressing the problems or providing sufficient resolve to our complaints. Its hard to know whether our experience was an anomaly or whether other guests aside from our travel companions,had problems too. If an anomaly, I would still recommend this resort,if not,I am afraid it would be difficult to do so.If the problems we experienced were not in play,it would have been the best vacation ever. So very conflicted.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beautiful Resort

Beautiful resort, rooms are beautiful, swim up rooms are totally with the upgrade. Al la carte restaurants are all very good, but only 1 takes reservations which sucked... beach was beatific but not the best for swimming a lot of rocks and coral. Service was excellent.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing resort

Lush grounds, great food at the buffet, tons of a la carte restaurants to choose from, and access to 3 other resorts. This was our first time to Mexico and we loved our time at this resort. A nice quiet feeling - not the loud music and party atmosphere of other resorts.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Fabulous food !

Beautiful, friendly staff, very clean, beautiful and tropical landscape. Fantastic food, beautiful beach. I would definitely go back and stay at this resort. Great shopping at the resort as well. I would definitely go back and stay at this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful Vacation with some issues

This was our 9th all inclusive and second Bahia, (first was the Tulum in 2004). The visuals, beautiful. The grounds were impeccable, clean, no garbage anywhere. Smoking only allowed outside with ash trays everywhere. Our room 6621 was a corner third floor next to the infinity pool looking directly on the beach and third lagoon. Our maid was a sweetie who tried hard to communicate. She was very efficient and helped when we had room issues. The bathroom had shampoo, soaps, a razor, comb, shower gel etc. replaced daily. The fridge was supposed to be restocked daily but was not. Cases of water were placed on the stairs daily so we helped ourselves. We ate at a few A-La-Carts, but found the food at the buffets so plentiful and tasty, that we preferred the more laid back atmosphere. Also they changed up their theme each night. Canada night featured beaver Tails. There was a main buffet but also a 24 hour beach bar and next to the infinity pool had a buffet/ A-La-Cart where we ate most breakfasts and some lunches. You were always met by a smiling maître de and hand sanitizer. A nice touch. We did venture to the other three resorts to eat and visit, but decided for our tastes the Akumal was the best choice. The 3/4 pools were warm, shallow with plenty of shade and loungers, however the best ones were snagged before 7:00AM. Same went for the beach. There was an adults only section, but we choose to mingle. I was again impressed with how clean the resort was including the beach. The lagoons were well protected by both whales and fish netting. Unfortunately the life guards had their hand full with patrons swimming outside the ropes in the strong currents. Red flag every day. Bar service was excellent from the bar tenders to the waitresses at all the bars including the beaches. We did feel sometimes that they were a little understaffed for the volume of people and often our servers had line-ups and only one working. This also happened a few nights at the buffet. This leads into our issues. We believe our building had just had renovations and was opened before being vetted for problems. Our pickup at the airport excellent. Arrived at 12:30 PM for a 3:00PM check-in. We were immediately told 3:30. Then 4:00 PM, 4:30, 5:00. We watched our maid finish setting up at 5:30. Our friends next door got into their room at 5:00 PM. Over the ten days we made two calls to have our screen door repaired. Would not close. Finally removed fixed and replaced. Fridge not working. Never did get really cold. No hot water for showers. Fixed. No restocking of fridge even after many phone calls. Two days in a row our room was not cleaned until 4:30 or 5:00. Hard to get ready for early dinner reservations. Maid could not access room with her key. We let her in. Thought that odd until the next day our keys stopped working. Maid called service. They got in by going through friends room over balcony. Eventually they replaced the whole lock. Unfortunately when we went to the lobby to have our keys reprogramed, they did not do the same for the maid and maintenance department. Two more days the maid waited for us to let her in. Maybe this was the reason our fridge was never restocked. The front desk did not believe that their people could not access our room until we had many conversations with management. Finally on our second to last night we came home to a large puddle of water on the floor and a skid across the floor. The next morning it was eventually repaired after we demanded a manager come to our room. We were told they were not on site before 9:30 in the morning. He appeared at 10:00. We then had a meeting on the beach that morning with Paola, senior management where she addressed many of our concerns, including arranging for an A0-La-Cart dinner that night with complementary wine to replace a dinner we missed because they scheduled it wrong. Understand that the maid and maintenance personal were fantastic. We felt it was a breakdown in communication between the levels of management that caused so many issues. We understand that these massive complexes have issues and we also expect things to happen. Not just all to us. Was this an anomaly? I hope so, as we would still and have recommended this resort to friends.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great Spring Break Vacation

Just had a wonderful spring break vacation with my whole family at RIU and we absolutely love it! The hotel is a solid 4.5 star! Great food, clean rooms, beautiful ocean view(in every room) and excellent beach! The service of the hotel was very good and all of the staffs were kind and helpful. The drinks at the bars taste amazing. The temperature in Mazatlan was always nice in spring(about 26 degree all the daytime). We all love our stay and had a really unforgettable time there!

Crown Paradise Club: Nice family resort.

Overall, a nice resort. Hotel room was clean, service was average-good—it varied from day-to-day, buffet was good, nice large beach area. We bought a day pass to the adult resort since they had nicer lounge area by the beach, but the food choices were not any better... more choices at the family resort.

Grand Sunset Princess: Fantastic Resort!!

It was beautiful, the food was great, so was the service. Beds are comfortable too. There lots of excursions to enjoy, and lots going on at the resort for the active person. I would definitely consider booking another trip there.

Barcelo Karmina: Great Resort

Very close to the ocean, the ocean cove was a great amenity to have to actually swim in the ocean while it blocked high tides. The hotel was private, spacious and clean. The swimming pools were clean, and there were quite a few of them. The staff overall were very friendly, the evening entertainment shows were great, food was great and the tours available were good too.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: i love this place

the service was fantastic. rooms nice and cool. i love the ocean in that area.Pools were clean. We are looking for a place to have a family reunion(40+ people) this is on top of our list.Have had a lot of my family staying here over the years.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Slightly Disappointed

2nd visit here. Service was still awesome and food pretty good. Resort caters to Mexicans. Most of the entertainment was in Spanish. Would have felt better if they translated into english. Can't take resort's beach lounge chairs onto the beach...a recent change apparently enforced by the federal government.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Everything you need!

An authentic Mexican hotel. Great location close to marina. Quick to hop on a bus to go downtown. Beach was nice and very swim able. Loved the food and thought the service was great. I would have like some more things to do in the evening. And the wifi never seemed to work. Very nice staff. Wish I was still there!

NYX Hotel Cancun: Almost great

Good facility, staff, and amenities. This resort is very close to being really great. Tony (Antonio) bartender, was the best! It's the small things that stop this place from being really good. Inconsistent room cleaning with towels, toilet paper, and water provided on one day and some not the next. Each day was a surprise to see what was missing. Food was really good but a small buffet in the upper restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner would have been a good addition. Having change like 10 [... read more] peso coins or US dollars available seems to be a problem at all resorts and here as well, this should be a given as it is used for tips.

Catalonia Yucatan: Fantastic Resort, great service

The resort is smaller than others I've visited and I liked that. The staff was amazing, the Transat service people were very helpful, excursions were good and very reasonably priced. We will be going back.

Fontan Ixtapa: Amazing resort.

We loved this resort. Having never been to Ixtapa, we heard it was a beautiful spot to vacation. Yes their were a lot of Mexicans at the resort, we had no trouble at all, the parents were great, no children running around, parents looked after them. They deserve to have a vacation as well. The food was great, never did we find food a problem. Drinks were plentiful.The rooms were cleans every day. The staff went out of there way to help you with any thing that came up. There were 4 in our group, and we are planning to go back next year. I'v read many reviews on this resort, we never had a problem. To all those who like to complain, stay home. Do you have some one to make your bed or some one to cook for you, I know I don't. It's a beautiful hotel to stay at. You can go further down the road to any other resort, but your going to pay a lot more money.

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: Fantastic Resort!

Just got back from a week at the Royal Playa del Carmen. I have stayed many properties across Mexico and this would certainly rank among the top. Location of the resort is unbeatable. You are right in the middle of the action and can easily walk to restauruants and shopping. The food at the resort was very good, many optiond for both buffet and A La Carte. The food was great and the staff were amazing. Lucas, Eteno, Mance and Geronimo took extra good care of us. Overall the service at the resport was top notch and I would not hesitate to return.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Beautiful and tranquil resort

The grounds are lush and full of flora. The pools are clean and quiet, other than the activity pool which had games and contests. Buffet food was AMAZING. Their communication via email was lacking. They would never give out the beach equipment (mask, snorkel, kayak) due to a "red flagged" beach....even in the calm section.

Riu Santa Fe: Beautiful and clean just a couple things need work

It was a beautiful resort a bit busy for this season. The staff were very kind except for a few that wouldn't even say hello when my fiance and I sat down at their bar. These woman were too busy chatting to come over and ask us if we wanted a drink and we were the only ones there. Sort of rude I would say. pools were beautiful, a bit chilly but the sun heated us up when we got out Our room was always clean and the maid was a sweetheart. We had room 6102 and it was very quiet. Italian was amazing!!!!!! and the liquor in our room was completely empty for 2 days and it took breaking some arms at the front desk for them to get someone in to replace it... also the vodka isnt vodka its low grade tequila and the rum isnt rum it's low grade tequila. ANd oh my god dooooo not drink the low grade Tequila in your room. I was getting so sick everytime I took a sip.... Do go to the Sports bar (open 24hrs) and order a espresson martini YUUUUUUMMMMM and they are so nice We did have an excellent time although there were a few issue we could survived it happily

Riu Vallarta: Amazing resort!

Great resort, good food, good drinks! Awesome beach! Only suggestion is that the hotel entertainment could use some improvement. Too repetitive. However, I must say that the local bands were really good. They had everyone on the dance floor! Tours were good also. Puerto Vallarta tour was fun and educational. Great way to sample tequila! And, on a final note, I would highly recommend Rhythm of the Night! Amazing show and dinner, as well as the entertainment on the boat. All in all, great trip!

Catalonia Playa Maroma: The best beach ever!

Went with our little son Max, he just turned two. We had an amazing time! Resort is very clean, the food is great, the staff is very friendly and carrying. Speacial thanks to manager Joaquin, he took care of us through out our stay. The only thing we did not like is this "privileged" seating at buffet, the whole area should be avail to all guests. I would recomend this hotel.
