Grand Palladium Palace: Needs upgrades, definitly not a 5star resort

This resort needs upgrades bad. It is not a 5star resort, at this time. The grounds smell of sewer, the rooms need to be upgraded. A loft suite is not for 4 adults, it should be listed for two only> We went as 4 adults because our girls are older, they did not have the accomodations that they should of had. The so called pull out coach is old and smelly. And the resort never even made it up for the girls. They brought in a cot for our youngest with sheets and a pillow only. And the oldest had a  [... read more]blanket and a pillow we found in the closet. In my mind this is very poor service.Our girls froze. It took 4 day, 4times asking before i got 2 blankets. We were not impressed at all. And when we arrived late at night we weren"t even put in our right room. I had to go to our Nolitour guide the next morning and he spoke with the manager and then we didn't get our right room until 2pm! When we spend a lot a money on a vacation, we expect to have better service than that. It was our girls first trip South. We will not be going back to Dominican Republic. We found that on the resort they couldn't speak English and they were rude. The best person we had was the bartender at the pool. She spoke good english and treated us like people.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Loved it

Ambar was excellent. Nice hotel, nice people , stellar beach, good pools. Was great to have ability to go to all properties. Food was ok...some a la carte restaurants better than others. Our first time in DR; we will definitely go back.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: GOOD RESORT

The hotel is well run, but the maintenance needs urgent work. There were frequent electricity interruptions, result in the breakdown of the air conditioning units. My first two nights were horrible as there was no a/c, but they eventually fixed it, by the time I was leaving.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: The resort was beautiful and clean.

The rooms were clean and the staff was great. The entertainment was excellent. We watched the dancers each night by the pool. We were treated to a lap dance and this was so much fun. The entertainment nightly was excellent.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: SIMPLY PARADISE

have been to punta cana many times and stayed at different hotels. All experiences are different. This resort is gorgeous and compact and easy to walk to everything. Our room, we upgraded was wonderful. Some of ordinary rooms on ground floor face a wire fence so need to upgrade. Swim up suites weird- grass between your patio and the water- they are expensive to upgrade when you are there- the elegance club for adults is very classy and the lounge and staff there very accommodating to your every  [... read more]need- not enough lounges however around the pool for elegance club - people put towels on the beds there in AM ad then go to the beach for the day so no one can use the bed- the towel person tries to watch but he is busy too. beach great....food great....loved this place regardless of the minor negative comments I gave.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Bahia Principe Ambar, Punta Cana

Somewhat disappointed with this resort. While we thought it would be smaller, it is actually attached to two other resorts and so it is enormous, requiring the use of a small train service to get around. The two additional excursions we took were the worst we have ever taken (deep sea fishing; visit to cave/local house/cigar making). The Air Transat rep at the resort was late for the meeting and rushed through the excursions. He was never around after that. There is basically not much to do in this area....just the beach, pools etc. so can't say we saw much of anything of the island. Air conditioning is also somewhat lacking....e.g. in the hotel lobby so it was difficult to sit there in the evening to have a drink or listen to music. Most of the night life was at the other (attached) resort. Seemed like too much of an effort to go there via the trams.

Occidental Punta Cana: Nice resort

I went to Punta Cana to celebrate my birthday. The resort was nice food was good, the only problem was my room. Not cleaned properly at all when I checked. Ceiling in bathroom was leaking. Balcony door was really hard to open and the maid stole my blouse from my suitcase. I voiced my opinion politely but nobody cares. I never saw my maid at all to ask her about my blouse, I guess she was hiding. I will never go back to an Occidental resort again. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Barcelo Barcelo Beach

Stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach the Middle two weeks of April 2014. The resort itself is fairly nice however the food at the Buffet was not that great. Everything seemed as if it was warmed up and dried out. By the second week we could hardly wait to get home to good food Now the restaurants at night where you could make reservations were actually pretty good We loved the Mexican Restaurant the best. The one restaurant at the Beach side you make reservations for will cost you $ to eat there. The resort was clean and well maintained. Not much for shows in the evening or any kind of entertainment Bar service around the pool not so great and no service on the Beach Don't get sucked into the $3000 coupon book that is advertised for you when you book as most of it is not usable or you have to pay a lot before the credit is applied. Over all the weather was great. The beach is nice not to much trouble getting chairs. I do not plan to return to this resort any time soon

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Amazing resort

playgrounds of this hotel were always kept very clean. The staff were amazing always willing to help always with a smile . This resort had two dining areas one at the beach and one up near the lobby. Both places had enough food to choose from. My wife and I could not believe how nice the room was and how clean it was the maid service was fantastic. The mini fridge in our room always had two bottles of water and two bottles of pop. And the maid that clean the room was very honest. We have forgott [... read more]en money on the desk in the room and it was still there when we came back. We both know that we will definitely be returning to the grand Paradise resort.

Paradise Playa Dorada: GOOD FOR YOUR MONEY!

OVERALL GOOD EXPERIENCE. FOOD 6/10 EXCEPT CHINESE NIGHT WAS 1/10. BEACH WAS OK 6/10, DEF WAS NOT AQUA BLUE & SAND WAS BROWN NOT POWDERY WHITE. ENTERTAINMENT 8/10 BUT NIGHTLY SHOWS WERE TOO RAUNCHY FOR KIDS, SHOULD BE STRICTLY FOR ADULTS. ASK FOR A HIGHER UP ROOM, TOO MUCH NOISE IN HALLWAYS FOR 1ST FLOOR AND HIGHER ROOMS ARE LARGER!! SMALL RESORT, 1 POOL ONLY BUT EASY ACCESS TO ENTIRE RESORT NO NEED FOR WAGONS/CARTS. GOOD FOR ADULTS ON A BUDGET!

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: nice

the road going into the resort its self was a disaster.The bus was 1 1/2 late picking us up to go to the airport. The rep for WestJet was no help at all. I would go again but only if the road was fixed. The resort was good overall including the staff and food.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Great place

Great place!!!! Would have liked more entertainment....music, comedy, dance in the evenings...our veranda was wet when it rained....bathroom, the toilet had no vents and was to hot and smelly when it was used.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Exellent resort, activities need fine tuning

The resort was beautiful, beach 7 pools were wonderful, enough beach lounges, food spectacular, a la cart & buffets, drinks available amazing, staff warm, welcoming & helpful. Rooms were excellent. The activities need some improvement for me to give it 5 stars. The sailing was good, but sails & boats need to be kept in better repair.. Bicycles also not well maintained. One tennis court is not enough for the whole resort, hard court would be better than cement. Archery we would have done if it ha [... read more]d been available for more than 1 hour a day. We did not use the water park(not interested), or the mini golf, too hot out on the open, no shade. Pool side dance lessons never seemed to happen, even with asking, so we gave up. Pool aerobics was very good. Evening entertainment was great!!! We are active people, and there is only so much lying at the beach & pool, before we get restless. Be Live Experience Hamaca Suites: Deceiving resort

They advertise beautiful rooms with all the amenities but when you get there they put you in a very dumpy room where most of the light switches or bulbs don't work, front door has a crack down side where you can see right outside, curtains hanging off the rod and very dirty and with NO amenities! We had to fight to get moved to a little better room. We were always bothered with someone trying to sell us a timeshare. We're not allowed to use part of the beach unless you bought in the VIP, which b [... read more]y the way was the pictures that were advertised as part of our package. Would never ever recommend this resort to anyone!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Never go back

Place as too large. infested by mosquitoes. Maid staff kept the doors to your rooms open letting bugs in and not spraying after. You had to take a tram to the beach. The clinic was good. Dr on site. But wouldn't speak to you until there was an assurance the cash would be there first.. Understandable... We are not going back

Food was great, restaurant staff very pleasant , I wish the ladies that tidied the room understood a bit more. English. I would definitely visit again I was not looking for much night life Enjoyed the Sun and rain

Service was great, dinning area clean and had fresh fruits, lots of variety foods. Hotel was clean and great service, grounds were beutifull, clean pools. My self and and my daughter enjoyed very much and would like to go again.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful Resort

Everything was fantastic. The only thing a bit disappointing was our beach area. Not the beach frontage but the water was not clear. The workers were very pleasant and helpful. There were 16 of us ladies that went on the trip. The food was fantastic and the waiters and waitresses could not do enough for you. I would go back in a heartbeat!!!!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Not what we expected

Food was decent, people were nice, but the resort was pretty run down and they allow locals to fill the vacant rooms on the weekends. The pool was filthy and we found ourselves very annoyed by the locals on the beach and outside the compound. All the Dominicans expect money from you regardless of the service being provided. I would not return to this resort.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Beautiful Resort

The resort was very clean and beautiful, the beach was gorgeous.. The food was good but the service was terrible, it's a new resort so a lot of learning still needed. Some staff very friendly but a lot were not.
