All ground areas are very well maintained, public areas such as front lobby, lobby bar, swimming pool area bar, swimming pool are nicely organized. Dining areas also very well maintained but observed roaches in the main buffet restaurant. Evening entertainments were excellent. Resort garden areas are nicely designed with different plants to attract birds and I enjoyed seen them and captured good photographed. Beach is clean and there too; I shot some nice shorebird pictures. I believe, mosquito [... read more]menace is a problem everywhere in Cuba.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Excellent Beach Front Resort
Our experience at this resort was great! The primary reason for our vacation was to be on the beach and swim in the ocean and we were not disappointed. The rooms were alittle dated and the mattress hard and springy, but the A/C worked well.

Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: Great staff but disappointing food
The resort is a lovely spot and the rooms particularly with the ocean view are great. Other than some staff wearing masks, there was little evidence of covid protocol. The food generally was just okay. During the week we had two a-la-carte dinners which were great however all other meals were at a very limited buffet and were disappointing. Would love to return but only if the food improves greatly.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Iberostar Daiquiri GOOD TIMES
We had a great time, even though the main swim up pool and 2 a la carte restaurants were not open. The buffet and side bar food is good enough for me, I'm not a fussy eater as long as i got something to soak up the DRINKS. The atmosphere weather and beach is beautiful.. Please bring bug spray because those mosquitoes are no joke. Thanks again for a memorable experience

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Think twice
Hotel not terrible but could be better
Pool with swim up bar turned green day 2… the rest of week everyone went to beach. Beach/boardwalk nice…great snorkelling and lots of shade
Rooms - you had to use 2 hands full strength to open patio doors (a friends room the handle broke because of the force required)
patio doors didn’t lock and there was climbable metal lattice up to them
No handle on the patio doors from outside so you couldn’t close the door if you wanted to sit out.
Toi[... read more]lets barely flushed
A friends safe didn’t work In His room. When he went back to room mid day he found the maid with his back pack open in her hands. when he returned later. He counted his money and found she had skimmed $80. He confronted her…long story short she eventually admitted it and gave it back. (How many more did she take from)
Had $20 skimmed from our locked safe. Met 2 others who had money stolen from their safe
I will give them credit - they did take a report and were investigating the thefts. Seemed to take it serious
Food not the best. They did have a grilling station. So you could get by with chicken or pork with salt and pepper. Good bread! Pretty much had the same thing every day
In their defence it was off season and the resort was maybe at 25% capacity. So I can see limiting the options to prevent waste
A little disappointed with the beverages although
all the bartenders were super friendly! First drink I ordered was a strawberry daiquiri and they didn’t have it…never knew what was available day to day/bar to bar
Also, there was no consistency in how each drink was prepared, you never knew what you were going to get…too sweet, to tart, watered down or just right
Again the options I can understand as supply availability is still an issue.
The resort does have potential…
If you are thinking of going try it in peak season. I think Maybe the combined off season/COVID effects were the majority of the problem which I can completely understand. Just keep an eye on your money, and hope they have addressed this issue

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Food is getting better
I have been to this resort 5 times this year. On the good side, food ( dinner ) was very good this time. Lunches not so much. Breakfast you can't go wrong. Rooms were about what I expected. Not perfect but also not horrible. Beach was awesome. Pool was very good . Mosquitoes were absolutely horrendous this time. I honestly don't know why or if it's just the season. One thing that I did find interesting was I was given a white wrist brand when I arrived and was told to change it the next day. I d[... read more]id notice that the local visitors all had white bracelets and I did notice this time I was treated significantly different. Not better, anybody can draw their own conclusion from this. I have been there many times this year and I would say that the food is getting better throughout the year but the rest of it is not excelling to the same standards. Service was generally not great. I would say that the service in the lobby in the morning was excellent. Not a horrible resort but I think they could do better. I will be trying other resorts in the future

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Trip to Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo, September 2022
It seems that Cuba tourism and hospitality industry has suffered big time over 2 years of COVID pandemic.
The services and resources were not at the high level as before the pandemic (I have been to Cuba several times). There was a minor shortage of bottled water, fruit, bread, and some food stuff. The main pool was not working due to broken filter, so there was no pool bar which is one of the most attractive spots of any resort. There was no waiter at the other pool(s) which made it difficult [... read more]for the elderly and people with disability to get drinks or snack at the pool(s). Tons of flies and mosquitos even inside the buffet restaurant. Maintenance of facilities was not at the expected level (broken toilets, pool filters, etc). Night entertainment was mainly DJ, except for 2 nights of live performances.
However, the majority of were trying hard so the visitors have a good time, especially:
1. Juan at the Sports Bar
2. The chef at the lobster restaurant by the beach
3. Roxy, Rachel, and their managers at the "a la carte" restaurants
4. supervisors at the buffet restaurant
5. and many others
6. Fortunately free WiFi internet was provided, though you needed to log in frequently
Hope that Cuba will recuperate quickly to the previous high level we are used to see in Cuba.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Best hotel I Cayo Coco!!
Excellent staff make you feel like your at home always trying to help you enjoy your stay just that little bit better than the last time ! Most ppl repeat guest for a reason wouldn't ever go anywhere else thank you again tryp super fantastic vacation 😀
I chose this hotel because it said there was wifi and a 24 hour bar and 2 restaurants plus buffet. There was 1 restaurant and the front desk only let me make one reservation for dinner there for the whole week. after 11pm you CANNOT GET ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK. They only give you 7 hours of wifi. They also close the pool at 6pm :// a lot of promises were unfulfilled and i feel lied to.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing experience!
Such an amazing experience. The resort and grounds were stunning and well maintained. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, top notch. And the swim out pool is the only way to go.
The breakfast buffet had a variety of food to choose from, great selection for all food preferences. We enjoyed the a la cart restaurant options, but thoroughly enjoyed the beach grill lunch and beach bar vibe. The snack bar option was a convenient feature for when you just want a quick bite.
Only su[... read more]ggestion would be to bring bug spray. The resort did fog the grounds but it is a secluded location surrounded by wilderness.
It would be difficult to go to another resort after experiencing the Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Esmeralda.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Our favourite resort in Cayo Coco
Beach is very good, however you need water shoes to enter the water. They are a must. There are nasty, big broken shells for about 4-5 m from the shore, then the sea floor is smooth and debris-free / pristine.
Food is tasty, and despite the options are somehow limited, you'll always find something to enjoy (paella and soup were overly salted, however). Lots of flies on and around the tables. They were occasionally fumigating, but not enough.
There are 4 a-la-carte restaurants open, out of which[... read more] you can choose 3 for a 7-day stay. It is a nicer environment than at the buffet, no flies, and the food is slightly better and is served with a good presentation.
You can enjoy the non-motorized water sports for free (pedal boat, hobbie cat with sails, manned by marina staff, also kayak). This is a big plus, as on the water you feel the pleasant breeze in hot temperatures.
You can go snorkelling at the coral reef, a short distance from the shore, but it is not free. Beware the mouth piece can be defective and take water in. Either you test it in the water before embarking on the catamaran, or you bring your own snorkelling mask.
No issues with water pressure or supplies such as soap or toilet paper.
Chamber maids are not all created equal. The first one was hardly doing what was required - e.g. providing water daily, or coffe pods for the machine, or removing the garbage from the bathroom. But there is a solution to that: I had the chamber maid changed with another one, which was super efficient.
These are not big issues, however. The big plus of this resort is a very long beach you can stroll on for kilometers, and a very calm and clean sea, where you can swim or snorkel as much as you want.

Melia Costa Rey: Was impressed
The hotel was wonderful the food was okay for Cuba and the staff were great, although we did get ripped off by a cab driver but we're unimpressed with some of the tourists that had disrespectful attitudes toward the staff, but did meet some nice people though

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great place to stay with amazing staff.
We have travelled to this hotel several times this year, but, I leave honest reviews. Our most recent stay was at the beginning of September. Overall the grounds and gardens are well maintained. There was a couple small areas in the sidewalks down by the beach that were under repair which appeared to be from adding some new pvc drainage lines. It rained extremely heavy 1 day while we were there and it was apparent why they were installing additional ones. Secondly the beach. We have been travel[... read more]ling to Cuba for 20 years and I will say that the beach here is beautiful. Pure white sand and always clean. There were lots of chairs available. There are 2 separate areas. As you enter the beach from the main walk to the far right is Diamond Club only and to the left is for anyone. Diamond Club has exclusive bar and food offering sandwiches, burgers etc. The "anyone" side also has bar and food, offering pizzas. We have experienced both sides and have no complaints. The food here is always good. If your up for a walk, wait until the tide starts to go out. You can go either to the right to the point or to the left around the bend. Towards the point, when the tide is out there are small pools of water left behind. Lots of starfish, small crabs. Very interesting to see. Make sure to take lots to drink because it is a fair walk and can get quite hot. Thirdly, the food. The buffet is a typical buffet. It does change slightly from day to day. They do have stations for cooking pasta, meats and fish as you choose. The dining room was always clean but they also offer outdoor covered dining area. Snack bar food is always good! They offer the burgers, fries, hotdogs, etc. over by the pool. A la Carte restaurants food was good as well. They are small portions so if your a large eater, hitting the buffet or snack bar as well isn't a bad idea. The bars. Lobby bar, sports bar, snack bar and beach bars. All offer pretty much the same. My wife and I really don't drink much so can't comment on them to much. They did run out of draft beer for a couple days but it was replaced by bottles and cans. So beer was still available. There is also a small building in the pool area called Beans. It serves specialty coffees and ice cream during the day. 10-4 I believe. A must to visit! Lastly, the staff. I will try to keep this area short. Amazing! Plain and simple. With the current situations in Cuba these people will and do give 110% to make your stay the best possible. Some things are simply just out of their control but you can bet they will do everything they can to make things right. My theory is "a vacation is what you make it" Things can always go a bit sideways in any destination. And if things do and your determined to have a great time, you will. I recommend taking the time to get to know some of the staff. They always have great stories and share some laughs!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing resort
It's not my first time in Cuba, but it was first time in Cayo Coco, and like always I didn't get disappointed. Honestly I can't get it, why everybody are complaining about the food, it was so good food there, a lots of fruits, meat , fish, seafood, pasta, vegetables, all so yummy. The customer service was great, all personnel at the resort are so welcoming, so nice!!!!! The common area always clean, same as great room service. The beach are so beautiful, just love it! The only thing I wa[... read more]sn't ok with it's mosquitoes, they literally eat me alive, but it's just me, not lucky I guess😉. For sure will visit this resort again, same as my friends with who I went there. One of them already planning to go there with a family on January 2023. Thanks a lot for making my vacation so wonderful 💕

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: 7-day Stay
My review of this resort:
Wifi is only in the lobby and no other part of the resort. Not many places are air-conditioned, the rooms are your best bet if you want to escape the heat. The grounds are well kept and the beach is amazing. The best thing about this resort is the beach. Careful of sand flies at the beach though, my partner and I were bit all over our legs and arms. The bites were extremely itchy and uncomfortable afterwards. Bring insect repellent to be safe. There are not many acti[... read more]vities to do on the resort apart the shows which are mediocre at best. The buffet is okay but wish there was more variety. In all honesty, I would not come back to this resort.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great family resort
We spent our 7 days at the Iberostar Selection Playa Pilar and were pleased with the overall infrastructure and service of the resort. All the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and hard working. We were very grateful for every measure of due diligence in attending to our inquiries, requests, and sincere efforts in accommodating our concerns.
There is however an evident shortage in a few things. Please bear in mind that in light of the pandemic, this resort and its staff have given 1[... read more]00% of their very best.
It would be helpful to carry these items for your comfort:
- toilet tissue (runs out during the course of the day in the main lobby areas)
- paper towel/dinner napkins (if you consume/rely on a lot of serviettes while dining)
- wipes (baby wipes, or sanitizing wipes)
- condiments of your preference
- water/thermos bottles
- snacks that will fit in your luggage (especially if you have children) & cup noodles (wish I did this!)
- first aid kit & medications, extra hygienic items, etc.
The resort itself is a great size. You don't feel crowded or lost by the layout of the whole place. We had a large room with 3 beds and it was comfortable. Bring a comfy light sheet.
The beach is beautiful! A lot of fish underneath the staircase leading down into the water. IT IS NOT A STRETCH OF SAND FYI. It would help to bring water shoes so you don't get cut by the beautiful corals.
The food is fair. I stuck to a lot of grilled pork chop, and grilled tilapia with rice, squash, and avocado; fruits: I had a lot of guava, and mango/guava juice to drink.
Thank you Iberostar for a wonderful week with my family!
