Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Clean Resort but Not Worth the Extra Cost for the Luxury Side

We booked the Bahia Principe Luxury side thinking that it would be better during Covid. What a disappointment! No social distancing at the pool with lounge chairs and people and the beach. We spent our week on the Grand Side (family side). Less people and social distancing was observed on that side. It's our 2nd time at that resort and not disappointed with the cleanliness and the maintenance of the grounds. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: We keep finding our way back!

This was our 3rd visit to this resort. We have stayed other places but keep finding our way back here! Despite Covid our stay was mostly great. Food was great. Grounds are pretty. Beach was great. - Room key problem needs immediate fixing - Covid testing could use some better organization (let people fill out forms while they wait will save time) - only ever saw a concierge at the desk in our villa once THANKS AGAIN FOR ANOTHER GREAT VACATION!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Worth going for the food alone!! 5*

The luxury Ambar was amazing the beach is awesome the food at EVERY al a cart and buffet is the best I’ve never had a better time at a resort even if it is during a Pandemic. They sanitize everything all day and have good practices in place to make you feel safe. There was not really anything to complain about except the sheets on our bed had stains.. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Would not recommend in the slightest

The hotel was so large, crowded and confusing. Staff were mostly rude and unhelpful. We were left in our room for 16 hours without food due to covid. Staff kept assuring us dinner would come and no one came.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Best resort so far

Can't say enough about everything about this resort, from the awesome welcome when we arrived, the courtsy from the staff to the great service. Grounds were very well keep up no garbage anywhere on the ground. Very clean. The staff went above and beyond for all our needs. The food was second to none and the availability was great. Hotel and services from the Bahia Staff was unmatched in quality! The only problems we EVER had were with TRIP CENTRAL BEING THE WORST! Highly recommend the hotel but DON’T book through trip central.

This beautiful resort managed to make our stay feel as safe and normal as possible during a challenging time of getting staff and dealing with covid. The resort was very clean, the staff wore masks appropriately, were friendly, and were as helpful as possible even though many were new to the job. The beach area and beach buffet needed more staff to keep up with cleaning but this was also due to some visitors standards of cleaning after themselves, to be fair. I would recommend this resort but would also encourage learning some basic language, use of translation app. We have found that people appreciate the respect of attempting to use at least polite phrases in their language.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Mediocre situation

Total: 1/5 stars 4/5 stars Being part of a resort complex, Akumal offers access to 3 other resorts' restaurants and facilities (Coba, Tulum, Sian Khan). This means more options for a la carte dinners, with great to excellent food/menu. 0/5 stars It also means that 2 of those extra resorts are crowding in Akumal's beach side lounge chairs, making it really hard to find a sun bathing spot. 0/5 stars All food and drinks have tons of sugar in them (sugar cane based), obviously targeting  [... read more]the US tourist. It's insanely hard to find any non-sweet cocktail, and good luck finding tacos at the breakfast/lunch buffets. 0/5 stars Spa appointments are hit or miss, the app based scheduling is horrible (applies to restaurants too), check-in took 1 hour without taking into account the line-up, and even then it was incomplete. WiFi access was not enabled, so we had to go back in line a 2nd time.

I paid so much for this trip , but honestly wasn’t worth the hype . Management was all over the place nothing was correct or on time starting from our rooms, covid results and room service. Made at wait 3 hours long to check in , which everyone was so tired for the flight and hot . Called until old times for towels no one had brought up

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Still a Great Resort

We vacationed November 27 to December 11. I've been reading reviews that are "2" and "4". Both apply in certain circumstances. Our 2 weeks there were early on in the reopening so there were some glitches with restaurant locations and reservations as well as supply of coffee, pop in the mini fridge, dearth of bathroom towels and consistency in service. But the grounds are in perfect condition - pools clean and well attended, lots of chairs and pool towels, the food is mostly good to very good [... read more] (with effort we obtained reservations for 12 of our nights). We especially enjoyed MEAT and the Indian restaurant; didn't love the Greek or Tequila. Our first room was not the upgrade to poolside and after the night of constant noise from the neighbouring hotel staff we asked to move but were told it would be an upgrade of $250 US. We decided to wait to see. After 3 days we showed the front staff the video we had taken of the music and noise at 3 a.m. Only then were we offered to move to another room on the same side of the hotel without an upgrade fee. We decided with 11 nights left to just pay the $ but were disappointed that option wasn't given to us on the first night. And speaking of upgrade costs - as is the case with "all inclusives" the attempt to get you to pay more begins the minute you get on the bus - it's like you're there for free and are meant to feel guilty if you don't buy more. The one issue I had is with the wine which is just terrible. They make their own and pour it into bottles. But to upgrade to something drinkable is minimum $38 US per bottle. To have wine with dinner every night would add $700 to our vacation!! Why not offer something drinkable? Or reasonable upgrade cost? We did meet people who had the false positive covid tests - this definitely added to stress levels over the week. Their stories are true. We were at Bahia Principe 2009 and 2010 - I would say the service is the same; language "barrier" hasn't changed. The resort is still very nice - not a 5* but a solid 4. And efforts were being made (example coffee makers in the rooms) every day to get things back on track.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Second Visit and still Amazing

There is a major reasons why we came back to this hotel. They have an amazing team working there. The entertainment team Trudy, Alex , Michael and Lady T. Such a wonder bunch of people chosen to keep us entertained daily. Kobe, our butler who went behind the call of duty to meet all of our needs. Carmen our housekeeper was wonderful and pleasant. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Awesome Experience

Our experience at Grand Bahia Aquamarine was fantastic this past holiday (Christmas to New Year). Grounds- The one thing you will notice is how many staff are constantly maintaining and cleaning the premises. The resort is spotless. Staff- The staff are super accommodating and friendly. This includes front desk, bar staff etc. We ran into zero problems. Buffet and Al a Cart were all on point. You should definitely look into booking the restaurants immediately upon checking in as they fill up fast. But they are very good which is why they fill up quickly. Restaurants and Buffet staff ensure everyone is wearing a mask and wearing gloves. It's was an awesome experience, and a big part of that experience is due to the staff, the cleanliness and their seriousness towards COVID and your safety. Obviously, everyone still has to use their common sense. But if there were any moments where I felt "un easy" it was always due to the people not taking things seriously, NOT the resort or staff.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Portillo resort

Very clean, staff was excellent. They followed Covid 19 protocols: checking temperature before entering to the buffet, distancing tables, cleaning right after you. You have to wear a mask on the common areas, and when getting the food at the buffet. There's plenty of open space in the swimming pool and beach, so you don't feel that people are all over you.

We loved our stay here. The staff and service were wonderful. Lots of things to do...or not and the food was fantastic. Resort is well maintained and the staff work extremely hard. Very pleasurable experience...even better the second time around!

A beautiful resort with impeccable grounds. Excellent food options even during COVID. A la carte selections reduced due to lower bookings but still offering the quantity of reservations available according to booking. We loved the pool and all the extras for our grandson.The rooms were also nice and the grounds well kept and beautiful. Although the a la cartes were tasty ,the two main buffets were lacking.Too many of the same dishes every night and the food was never warm.I would go back if they improved these buffets

Food is good especially in the restaurants. Beach is amazing. Rooms are amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful at all hours. It's paradise. The pools are very clean . We will defiantly be going back to swim with the dolphins.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Relaxing getaway

Covid protocol similar to Ontario, which staff and guests respect. Scheduled PCR test at the hassienda Dr office $117 cdn, no lineup, email results by midnight next day. Resort is same as before covid, very good everything, and still best value "5* adult only" IMHO.
