Playa Costa Verde: A Nice Getaway

Just got back from a 7 day stay at the Playa Costa Verde with my husband and 14 year old son. While some of the decor might be a little dated the rooms and grounds of the resort are kept very clean and tidy. The gardens and other flora and fauna are well tended and both the beach and pool kept as neat as a pin. We were warned about the food in Cuba and our friends and family weren’t wrong. The food was quite bland and there were occasional shortages of things like hamburger buns (we preten [... read more]ded we were cutting out carbs) and bacon on just one morning (people acted like it was the end of the world). However, the Japanese A la carte was fantastic (Jaqueline was super entertaining), the woman that makes the donuts, pancakes and fried dough at breakfast deserves half a dozen Michelin Stars and the coffee at the lobby bar was amazing. The beach was remarkable. Go 10 feet out, slap on some goggles and BAM!, you’re looking at schools of tropical fish and coral reefs. Simply stunning. We had no problem finding seating at either the pool or beach, even in the middle of the afternoon when shade was at a premium. Our only main complaint was that checking in was disorganized, lacked pertinent information (ie: where does one find beach towels?) and the front desk personnel seemed more interested in welcoming repeat resort goers than assisting newbies who could really use the help (this unfortunately, seemed to be a theme with servers as well. Luckily, their friendliness and willingness to go the extra mile kind of balanced everything out.) For reference, check out was a complete breeze. While the Playa Costa Verde may not be a resort we return to, our stay was lovely and we had a very relaxing time. We would recommend this resort to friends looking to visit Cuba on a limited budget.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Resort was OK but not great.

Grounds were large and expansive. Public area washrooms were clean but not all had toilet seats. Dining servers were great and lots of restaurants. I found the food cold even though it appeared to be steaming. I thought there was lots and lots of pasta but no POTATOES. Breakfast was great as we had hot omelets cooked right in front of us and chef was really nice at omelet station. Don Lino Hotel: Peaceful clean resort!

My room was setup good and convenient with all amenities around. Clean towels and bed covers with good room cleaning. TV and air conditioner are working okay. Big shower room with hot water 24 hours supply. Good cooked tasty food with great service! Only the ocean is windy, wavy and with coral stones which make difficult swimming.

Playa Pesquero: Such a beautiful place to be

Incredible place. Everything was so clean and beautiful gardens. The staff were very attentive and professional. The beach is breathtaking, so many places to tickle your palate and I recommend the Bahama Mamma cocktail. It is a wonderful treat. I will return again. Taking the whole family next year.The flight was great and comfortable.

Playa Costa Verde: Great hotel

This was my first time at this hotel but second for my husband and our 11 year old son. Very clean hotel, big rooms and good food for Cuba standards. Even there is shortage of flour in Cuba there was bread at the resort. There is always something to eat even for pickiest eaters. Since my husband was returning customer we got complementary bottle of rum and all our diners were booked, which was very nice of them. There is not much for the kids to do even they have kids club but my son did not go there. We did not attend any shows because we were early in a room, tired from swimming and sun.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Disappointed beyond belief never to return!!!

Not only was the room sadly tired the resort showed major improvement needed. The food was beyond horrible to the point we all lost weight at an all inclusive. The entertainment was practically non existent what did happen was poor. Our building lost water and we were forced to moved at 5pm to another building that didn’t have water as well until after 10pm. Over all this holiday was a complete failure.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort but not 5*

Excellent beach and people. That is why we come back to Cuba. Food was sometimes delicious and sometimes needed improvement. Everything else was good or better. We had a lovely time there. I found the price each year higher, but it is not a problem with Cuba but with the Canadian dollar losing power:-)

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We had an amazing trip!

My husband and I spent a very relaxing lovely week at the Fiesta Americana Holguin returning back home on March 18th We stayed in the older section of the hotel which was a little tired but kept very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the service to our room was great. We were looking to disconnect from our everyday lives and would say mission accomplished! Sol Turquesa Beach: Great Resort

Had a great experience at Memories Holguin. Not sure where the people were staying that have the negative reviews but it could not have been at this resort. We, my wife and I,were here with three other couples and no one had any negative things to say about the resort. will definitely be returning in the future.

Don Lino Hotel: Tres bien!

Positif petit resort mais extremement sympatique, petit buffet mais tres bon et nous avons mange chaud ! Musique pendant le souper et ca continue pour la soiree, mais ca fini tot, ce n est pas un endroit pour faire la fete. Un endroit pour se reposer! Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best resort in Cuba

The first thing we noted was that we were one of only a handful of people we met that were here for the first time. Ninety-five percent of the customers had been here before, most 3 or 4 times and one couple was here 24 times. That says something. This is our fourth trip to Cuba. Cuba has great people, is a beautiful island and has great beaches. The one common complaint you hear about Cuba is the food. This hotel has the best food we have experienced in Cuba. The seafood is very good. [... read more] The salmon steak at the Japanese restaurant was excellent. The main buffet was so good in fact that we cancelled our reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants that was "indoor" so we could eat outdoor. The food variety changed daily with things like roast beef, turkey breast, BBQ pig etc and then there were the constant like the pasta bar, and the main grill where you could order chicken, beef, pork, lobster, shrimp, mahi mahi etc. There are other resorts on other islands that can still top the food here but this is the best we have experience in Cuba and it is only a small step behind some other higher end resorts that cost a lot more money too. The rooms are very large and clean. The shower area had to be recently renovated and was beautiful. The whole resort was excellently maintained. Really good restaurant right on the beach. Good snorkelling and you can go sailing or windsailing. The staff are great. They works as a team amongst themselves and the rapport between the staff and customers is very warm and friendly. We will be going back here without question.

Playa Costa Verde: Beautiful resort!

Was really impressed with our room which had a large wrap around balcony and view of the grounds. We were close to everything, pool, beach and main lobby. The Japanese restaurant was the best! That was such a fun night. The resort staff were all very friendly! The french fry restaurant was open 24/7 which was good if we spent too long at the beach or pool, we could grab a quick bite anytime! They had a nice variety, spaghetti, pizza, fish, eggs, etc, cooked anyway you want. The only part of the buffet I wasn't keen on was that it was open with birds flying in and pecking at the food, mostly bread, but still a bit of a turn off. However, overall, the stay was great and the excursion to see the dolphins offsite on the catamaran was a lot of fun too! We were on the catamaran that reeled in a 100 lb Marlin! It was an amazing trip and adventure for our group! The beach had coral reefs which was great for snorkeling. I would definitely go back to this resort!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing Resort

I think the hotel is really good ,I loved my son enjoy the pool , the beach is beautiful!! The service was amazing everybody really gentle and lovely everything clean. I have a really nice honeymoon. We thinking to go again next year.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful!

Hotel is very clean. Beach beautiful! Food was okay, but the kids club was excellent! Cece and Rositta were fantastic with my kids! Block 27 had issues with water and AC. Staff very friendly, accommodating.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very nice resort

The resort if very clean and big. The grounds are kept up and though in some areas it is showing some places are needing updating it wasn't a big thing. The one issue we did have though is that 2 days into vacation there was no water from like 3pm until well after midnight and then again 2 days after that. No one could tell me why this was happening. The exchange rate is not the greatest and the resort never had enough 1 dollar pesos on hand. They also gave us a complimentary bottle of rum and cigar. Housekeeping was great! The beaches were so full though but that could be because it was during March Break, not sure. Pool was very clean. All in all a very good time was had by all!

Playa Pesquero: BEST RESORT IN CUBA

"Great Getaway! I have been to seven different resorts, all over Cuba and all at least four star ratings but this was the best, by far. Jose met all of our requests, building 16, second floor with King Size beds. The beds were very comfortable and I usually have a tough time with the pillows but not here. Our ladies that cleaned the room were fantastic and the supervisor Gladys, made sure we recieved everything we needed in our rooms. Front desk was very efficient, special mention to the hard wo [... read more]rking ladies at the coffee train, the Mojito bar, beer garden and the omelet station. The young man serving drinks by the pool, worked tirelessly and the pool guy kept the pools spotless. I was never not greeted with a smile by any of the employees and cannot say anything negative about anyone there. The a la carte restaurants provided the best food I have ever had in Cuba and the people in the buffet were very attentive. I know I am not mentioning everyone but so many of the employee's deserve kudo's for the excellent job they do. When we return to Cuba, it won't be necessary for me to read reviews, without a doubt our destination will be Playa Pesquero! Keep up the good work to everyone there. The only thing missing was dark Creme de Cacao at the lobby bar and perhaps more mixed drinks at the swim-up bar, like they serve in the lobby. Muchas Gracias!"

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great beach

The resort was quite nice. Although the food was pretty much the same every day it was quite adequate. Entertainment was ok but nothing you would say Wow about. Beach was great and very clean. Pools were good as well. I would never go in March again though as it was just way to packed and people just let there kids run riot everywhere. The French Canadians from Quebec were their usual ignorant, arrogant, rude selves with an attitude of entitlement that makes you ashamed to admit your Canad [... read more]ian but thankfully there are enough Ontario people there so the Cuban people don't think we're all aholes like them. First room we were given was in the main building. The old part of the resort and our view was of the back parking lot where they kept junk cars and stuff like that. It was a hassle trying to switch rooms. They stalled and dragged their feet hoping we would just give in and stay in that room but I didn't pay to look at a crappy view for two weeks. The room we finally got with a $10 Canadian a night upcharge was much better. Go deluxe not superior. Lesson learned. Had the usual problems in Cuba with the water in our room and our A/C was down for a day and a half. Service was top notch and Lexdeni the customer service rep was very helpful. Always willing to help when he could. All in all I would give it a thumbs up.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Very good resort requiring some improvements.

Resort is a new addition (5 months) to many resorts already established in that area. Staff is very friendly and responses to every problem immediately. Beautiful beach, water very shallow and safe for children. Resort shares regular beach with Playa Pesquero Resort. Own beach is still under development. It has a great potentials. Hotel requires improvement in the buffet area. Organization and display of food is random and changing daily except typical frying stations. Choice of food is [... read more] great and tasty but needs improvement such as: labels what is what. Meat is typical Cuban style, a little bit chewy and tough but fish and seafood plenty and tasty. Excellent and always fresh and tasty bread and buns. The gourmet restaurants are very good. Bars and choice of drinks and alcohols very good. Shortly speaking, the resort will be a very good one if and when overcome initial mistakes and omissions.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing beach

Beautiful white sand ,and you never want to get out of the turquoise water. Resort was very nice and clean.The staff is really kind . Rooms are Cuban style , nothing fancy ,but comfortable. Great pools, good food. I like a little more entertainment at night but it was a great vacation.

Playa Costa Verde: Amazing resort

Very good impressions from stay in Hotel Playa Costa Verde. Staff was very friendly in hotel starting from workers at Reception, staff in restaurants. Clean and very spacious rooms. Food quality was good. I would like to personally thank to Air Transat representative named Orlando that works in the hotel as well as to Air Transat representative at airport Louis Alonso. My daughter and me missed bus transport to the airport in the morning and they both made sure that we arrive on time before a [... read more]irplane departure of the return day.
