Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: FANTASTIC RESORT

Where they treat you like Royalty and Family. This was my 5th time returning to Sanctuary. The service is always awesome. one tiny glitch. but for the most part just as amazing as the first time my husband and I went.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great resort, not so great food.

We thought the resort was well layed out. It wasn't very far to walk to everything. The beach was absolutely beautiful. As well as the pool area. Everyone bends over backwards to make sure you feel comfortable. The food however is very bland tasting. It's the same foods day after day. We both ended up sick before it was time to go home. If it wasn't for getting sick it would've been a grand trip but being sick just ruined it.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful Vacation

From the moment we registered at the front desk at Memories Flamenco, we had a wonderful vacation. The gardens are beautiful, the drinks are endless, and last but not least, the people give their all to make your stay a memorable one. Anyone can find fault if they look deep enough but that is not the purpose of our vacation. We focus on relaxing, letting go of the stress of the business world and this is a perfect place to do so.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing Staff and Vacation Spot

Grounds maintained, public areas kept clean, food was good, stir fry, pasta and omelette stations were very good. Buffet kept clean. Room was clean (although my first room in bldg 10 was very smelly and my allergies reacted before I unlocked the door; after multiple complaints we hid a room change). Yes there were lots of sand fleas. Remember to bring bug spray and hydrocortisone cream. The entertainment staff was by far the best we’ve seen. Went with a group of 14. So many activities we did not have the opportunity to be bored. Weather was perfect. Played bocce ball on the beach, darts and shuffleboard by the pool, water aerobics, volleyball and other games. Fresh churros by the pool, ice cream in beans restaurant. Cappuccino in the piano bar. Pizza and fresh grilled sandwiches, handmade chips. Karaoke most nights before the entertainment. Fresh aloe available if you ask the gardener. Definitely going back next year with more people. Love goes out to Michel, Lazara, Ricky, Zoe, Ely, Luis, Dulian, Daniela, David and all the bartenders that made our stay enjoyable. Gracias. ...until we meet again.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Loved our stay!

The resort was amazing and had a lot of fun things to do if you want to stay on the resort for your trip. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. Rooms were always nice and clean. I was especially impressed with the availability of the non-motorized water sports (eg. we went for a free half hour sail in a hobie of the resort beach!). The staff on the beach would also bring you chairs as soon as they saw you arrive which was lovely. I would recommend bringing a water bottle or travel mug [... read more] for drinks since they use small plastic cups which need to be refilled frequently. Overall a great stay.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great vacation

The resort was nice, very clean, and well laid out. The rooms were a little dated. The beds were two twin beds pushed together to make a king. They should invest in getting a king bed. The service was excellent. Our room overlooked the pool and we were a short distance from the beach. We had our own section on the beach which was quiet.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pleasantly Surprised!

We traveled as a couple and knew what to expect as we have both been to Cuba a few times. Flight & Representative at Resort: The flight departing Toronto was on time. We were comfortable and had no issues. Our Sunwing Rep at the resort was helpful answering our questions.Thank you Sunwing. Check-In: We had a evening flight. Check-in was quick. We had hot water everyday and the water pressure was fine. Our room was cleaned daily without issue. Food: We both agreed that the food was better than any other resort we have visited in Cuba. Repetitive? Yes, but we were creative and changed it up every day. Always fresh chicken, beef, pork, seafood and eggs. By the looks of everyone's plates nobody was starving and best of all I didn't have to cook it! We always had hot coffee and orange juice in the morning before we sat down and wine at lunch. Thank you Jordan and Baily. a la carte: We dined at the Mediterranean restaurant and were pleased with our meal. It was the only a la carte we booked. Alcohol: We mostly drank beer. The few mixed drinks we had were good. No complaints. We had wine with our meals and that was also good. I brought my own wine from Duty Free in Toronto and ended up giving it to one of the gardeners. It certainly wasn't required. Excursions: We did not go on any excursions as we were there to relax. Pool: The pool was very clean and had entertainment daily. We did not spend a lot of time at the pool as we are beach people. Beach: Amazing. Clean. Clear. Lots of shade. Lots of long walks. Staff: Front desk, customer relations, chefs, waiters, bartenders, maids, gardeners (Claudio) all were so accommodating and very friendly. We had a great time!! Would we return? Yes!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Enjoyed my stay !!

This was my first time to Cuba and with all the posts I have read I didnt know what to expect . The people are amazing . I had upgraded to Diamond Club I think and extra $20 a day and was well worth it . Lewis was my butler service and went above and beyond look after things for me . The breakfast was great , the Italian Ala cart was 10 out of a 10 . If I had only one complaint was the lack of Ketchup lol . So I brought my own . The beaches and weather were beautiful .

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: 2nd time didn't disappoint

This was our second year in a row at this hotel and we loved it just as much. We actually required medical attention this time and were very pleased with the service we received and the attention they gave us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to travel in the Varadero area! This is the 7th hotel I have been to in Cuba and is by far my favourite one.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Love this resort but No hot water again!

This was our second time at the Caribe. We had an issue with no hot water the first time in March 2016 (before the hurricane). We assumed that after the hurricane, the water problems would be solved. It wasn't and we were booked in building 17 and everyone there had cold water only. We eventually were moved to building 21 and finally had hot showers. Everything else about this resort is wonderful and we loved our second room which had been renovated. It was beautiful and a great location,  [... read more]close to everything. The staff there is very helpful but there is not much they can do about the plumbing system. We would only go back if we were guaranteed hot water. We were there for 2 weeks and that is too long for taking cold showers!

Memories Jibacoa: Disappointing at best

I am going to start with saying the resort was kept clean. The lobby bar staff were great and the VIP restaurants were great. The rest of the place was one big disappointment. The entire facility is old and tired. At bars it didn't matter if you were next in line, the Cuban guests always got served first. The so-called snorkeling right off the shore was disappointing, barely saw any fish at all. My agent told me the reef was 30 meters out, but it started almost at the shoreline and just mad [... read more]e any sort of relaxing swimming impossible. Most afternoons you couldn't swim in the water at all because there were hundreds of jellyfish blowing ashore waiting to sting you. The water in the rooms was non-existent through half the nights (without notice) and the shower heads were a dribble at best and so low you had to be less than 5 feet tall to fit under them. There was nothing extra in the rooms, not even a clock or alarm. My husband and I both got sick from the food in the buffet restaurant and lost an entire day. I have been travelling for over 40 years and never gotten sick before. We paid the extra for the diamond service, don't bother. The girl who was supposed to serve drinks in the diamond area mostly spent her days sitting in the shade chatting with the bartender and/or lifeguard. She would disappear for hours at a time. My so-called concierge, David, was impossible to reach. We were sick in bed and waited hours for him to arrive. Finally we just told the receptionist to please bring us some food to try to eat. We got dry bread with a miniscule hamburger inside, no fixings, and about 20 french fries. The hamburger was raw inside so we had to throw it out. I never even met him and he did absolutely nothing for us. Approximately 80% of the people there were over 70 years old, I felt sorry for the young people. Tips were expected for every little thing done for you, sometimes they would tap their tip jars before doing anything. I don't mind to tip if they take good care of you, but it shouldn't be expected every single time they did their job. The waitresses were good and eager to serve you, but one night there were people dressed up in costumes and they literally told you to tip them. I was embarrassed for them. Over all a 3 star place at best, and a big disappointment if you are used to 5 stars.

Memories Paraiso: Memories to be made! But not with the bathrooms

Loved the very friend staff and people at the resort! Clean rooms and the beaches are to die for! The first day when I arrived I had no water or beverages in my room which was not convenient. Food was decent for Cuba! Excellent breakfast but Not very impressed with the lack of vegetarian options on the “a-la-carte” menus. The Mexican restaurant was not very Mexican but still very tasty food. Bars were not stocked up all the time and always lacked booze. Very sad to see stray cats and dogs on [... read more] the resort that looked to be abused. We tried feeding them some meat but there were signs for us not to feed these starving pets. Also the washrooms amongs the resort never had toilet paper and if it did it was a miracle so make sure you bring your own from your room. A lot of them also had broken locks and broken toilets. A lot of the sinks were broken and the beach bathroom was very run down and not clean. Activities listed on the website such as fruit carving were not offered and when we inquired about it the staff laughed and said they don’t offer a lot of the activities listen online. Overall very fun pool area with a swim up bar and a clean beach. Me and the girls still had a wonderful trip despite some of the issues on the property.

Grand Memories Punta Cana: Great family vacation

This resort was great. Good food, nightly shows for families. Pool was wonderful and the Waterpark was a big hit as well. Service was great and always their to assist you with your needs or questions.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Grand Memories Splash - Punta Cana

This was our families first trip ever down south, and we absolutely loved it! We have two kids (5 & 8) and they had a lot of fun and were always entertained! We were travelling with another family also with two kids (3 & 6) and they have been down south many times before. They agreed that the food was excellent, probably in the top 1 or 2 of anywhere they’ve been before. There was entertainment every night for both kids and adults which was very fun for us! Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Dirty resort

The resort was dirty the bathrooms were dirty. The pool area had broken glass. We used the same beach towel for 9 days no one got clean beach towels.We were given hand towels when They run out of Bath towels. Asked 3 times to have are toilet seat fixed never came To fix it.My husband and others were bitten by insects. Would not return to this resort. Also when we changed are money to pesos the exchange was never the same you could go bank front desk it matter.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Secret Gem

This private resort is a diamond in the rough with lots of potential but be prepared for 1:45 bus ride with no washrooms. The beach is outstanding, the food was very good and the service was good. A few shortages like bread one morning & white wine. Reserve the restaurants early. Skip the Mexican restaurant that did not serve the basic staple of Tortilla chips. The cleanliness & building maintenance needs improvement as well as the evening entertainment.

Memories caribe was a quiet beautiful piece of paradise. The beach was outstanding, the staff welcoming and helpful. The rooms although a tad dated were clean and comfortable. We didn't have to wait for anything and wanted for nothing. Food was good and always served with a smile. It became one of our favorite resorts very quickly. We will return

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: A Nice Vacation

Issues with accommodations; farthest from main areas, not a good view, in poor repair, flooding outside our door, floor not lit up for 3 nights, ...but everything else made up for it. Beautiful beach! Everyone very friendly. Talented entertainers. Large assortment of food and drinks...ground well-kept and clean. Ps sand fleas from the beach do bite! We’re told to do beach only between 9 and 5 so fleas go deep in the sand when it’s hot.

Sol Turquesa Beach: DON'T STAY HERE

I want to start off by saying that I have been to Cuba many times. I am not a high maintenance traveller and I don't expect things to be on par with Canadian standards. However, this was by far the worst resort I've been to. 1. The rooms: The first room we were checked into (an hour later than check in time) was disgusting. The bathroom was mouldy and the beds were so old they were sagging to the floor and the whole room smelled musty. When we called the desk to say we couldn't keep our 8 year  [... read more]old daughter in a mouldy room they said the hotel was full and we couldn't be moved. We went to the lobby and said we needed to be moved and were told again the hotel was full. Another hotel guest standing behind us told the reception to move us to the 500's where they were and at first they said no, but then magically a room was available. This room was better but by no means 4 star worthy. One night a pipe burst and we had no cold running water only scolding hot for 12 hours so that meant no showers that night. 2. Food/Drink The buffet did not have a good variety at all (and I'm not picky) and nothing was labelled. Twice at breakfast I poured plain yogurt smoothie in my daughters cereal thinking it was milk. The juice machine was "out of order" the entire time we were there so you had to sample the mystery juices to find one you liked seeing as they weren't labelled. As for alcoholic beverages, every resort I've ever been to has had a drink menu with fun tropical drinks. This resort did not. They basically had one specialty drink with pineapple juice and rum. They had no Coca Cola anywhere on the resort for two of the days as well. 3.Grounds: everything at the resort seemed to be in a state of disrepair. Half of the toilets in the public places like the lobby and pool bathroom didn't flush and there was never any toilet paper. We ended up bringing a roll with us wherever we went. A couple positives: the beach was nicely cleaned every morning and the a la cartes had pretty good food. Also, the omelettes were good every morning. Some of the staff were really sweet and helpful but some of the others seemed like it was an inconvenience to do their jobs even though we tipped pretty much every time. Overall I would say to stay somewhere else like playa pesquero (also in Holguin) because the half a star really makes a difference.
