Very nice resort. Food was good as well. Beach could be a bit cleaner (a lot of sea weeds) but overall enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were very clean and modern. Everything worked well.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Average Resort
The hotel is old. My guess is approximately 40 years old. It was destroyed in the hurricane about 12 years ago, and only 1/3rd of the resort is utilized today. The food was good, but selection somewhat limited. Service was great. Staff were great. The hotel has absolutely no nightly entertainment. My daughter had her beach bag stolen and it contained her brand new phone, some pesos, clothes, etc
The staff took a report, said they would review security cameras, but of course they never did. In sp[... read more]eaking to a couple of Mexicans at the resort, they said there was absolutely no doubt in their mind that it was a staff member. I hate to accuse anyone, but I'm just passing on the statements made by the staff. The theft occurred at the pool, and my daughter left her bag unattended for less than 5 minutes while she went to the washroom. Needless to say, this left a bad taste in our mouth, and I would never go back to this resort. Nor would I recommend it to others.

Posada Real Ixtapa: Great value - exceptional employees!
We went on a 7-day all inclusive vacation, staying at the Posada Real. The location could not be better; you can walk the strip of hotels all throughout Ixtapa, the bus goes right by and will drop you off anywhere you want in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo for less than a dollar.
Check-in was super fast, as was check out. No extra or hidden charges anywhere, and the front desk staff was always ready whenever I needed something (change, a fresh beach towel, a question about where to find a certain food i[... read more]n Ixtapa/Zihua).
The room was clean, there was a light that needing replacing in the bathroom, and it was fixed less than 1 hour after I mentioned it. The airconditioning was powerful, and the TV had a couple USA channels so I could watch some shows in English. Every morning, the room was clean, towels replaced, and fresh water bottles and coffee at the ready.
The pool is the highlight; absolutely perfect. No hotel on the strip will get you closer to the ocean. Being a smaller resort, there are chairs and loungers enough for everyone, and the service at the swimup bar and the beach bars are top notch. The pool is an infinite pool and has a fountain shooting upwards in it!
The buffet is what you would expect from buffet food. It in not that fancy, but I never went to bed hungry. There is also a menu you can order off of if you do not like what is being served that night. The breakfast was the best meal of the day; fresh pancakes, omelets or quesadillas made to order. The staff work really hard to get to know you, so by the time we approached the hostess, the waiter would have our favorite table ready with hot coffee already pouring. Super attentive wait-staff.
The beach is stunning and breathtaking. I could play in the surf for hours. There is no poolside entertainment or nightly "showtime" like I've experienced in other Mexican resorts, but I didn't mind that. Some evenings the restaurant would serve us outside for a BBQ. Also, all the water here is purified, so you can drink from the tap without getting sick - that's a HUGE plus for me.
I would definitely return. Great vacation spot on a budget. Some people complain about locals visiting this hotel but I say 2 things about that: 1) it is authentic enough and luxurious enough that locals want to visit and I get behind that 100% and 2) the resort welcomes nationals and their families, and I wouldn't want to stay at a resort that priced nationals out or didn't welcome them. I'm in Mexico to see Mexico and enjoy Mexico and its people. We found the nationals to be friendly and well-mannered.
The whole resort (lobby, rooms, pool, beach, stairwells, hallways) is IMMACULATE. The staff keep it super clean and tidy.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome place.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The resort was very well kept , the grounds were well laid out, once we figured it out. Lol. Maps supplied were very confusing. Food was very good as well, but we have someone with us that had an aversion to onions and they were in everything.

Fontan Ixtapa: Not worth going hotel-resort
Hotel is very old and smells moldy in every room you'll go no matter of the floor. Bathrooms need major renovation. No shower, only very very old probably original bathtub since the hotel was built in 1967yr. Pools are very crowded with local Mexicans that come for weekends. Enough food was in cafeteria while Mexicans were there, however when they left on Sunday the next day on Monday there was pretty much nothing to eat for people that were not Mexicans. And even the food looked like it was lef[... read more]tovers from the previous day. Very poor selection of food. Very little varieties of fruit oferred. Very few of serving staff understood English spoke only Mexican.
The mattress in room was so hard it felt like sleeping on a board. Pillows are the worst I've seen my life, it was like sleeping on a rock. Definitely both mattress and pillows NEED to be changed. What was weird also that mattress was covered with plastic sheet underneath of the bed sheet. Bed sheet was a flat sheet which barely covered the mattress and because of huge terrible discomfort in bed in the morning the flat sheet was rolled to a half of the bed so you end up sleeping on a plastic/vinal sheet.
Another HUGE disadvantage was a Disco bar/night club/restaurant which was about 1 km max from the hotel. On Friday and Saturday the music was SO loud till 4:30 in the morning, my husband and couldn't fall asleep and get rest till after they shut the "party" down. We ended up sleeping in in am cause of lack of sleep over the night.
Not much attractions in that area. Ocean had huge waves up to 12-15 feet and was very rough and dangerous to swim. We were told at this time of the year (March) ocean is always rough. For the activities on site-Movie nights were ONLY in Mexican no English at all. TV was all in Mexican except for 1 channel-very old movies.
The beach had very limited number of umbrellas and chairs to sit or lay down on. Early in the morning when I got one chair to lay down on, my husband went to the pool area to get for himself as well, but was stopped and told could not take it from the pool area. Then my husband asked the guy what he could use and from where he could get one, the guy talked to another service staff in Mexican about it in front of my husband and eventually was allowed to get one for himself but was told next time to ask if could get one. Let me be clear, before the dark hotel personnel picks up ALL the chairs from the beach area, so in the morning there's none available on the beach so eventually you had to get one for yourself. Not impressed about that or the stall of getting a chair to use on the beach. I went to vacation by the ocean to enjoy the ocean water not an overcrowded pool which is max 1.5 miter deep. If I wanted to go to a pool could do that locally without spending thousands of dollars on it.
Wifi very weak in the overcrowded lobby. No iron in the room. Water bottles limited to 1 per person per day. Of course no fridge with drinks. In the room the main venting system is very loud. Slept with air conditioning off but because of the noise coming out of the venting system took quiet some time as well to fall asleep. Overall would rate the hotel 2 stars max.
My advice if you had stayed before at resort 4 and 4+ resorts DO NOT go to this resort. You will get disappointed. For the value of money we paid it could and should have been better. Will not be returning to this hotel/resort.

All Ritmo Cancun Resort And Waterpark: Good smaller family resort
Rooms (junior suite ocean view) we clean, spacious, beautiful view. A little distance from the dense hotel district. Resort is in the small side, not very much dining but the food quality is good. Water park and surrounding activities were great for the kids, bar and washrooms on that side were really nice. Lots of activities, nice beach and I felt safe letting my nine year old explore a little on his own.

Barcelo Maya Palace: What a incrediable resort!
This is a resort with immaculate kept grounds and gardens. If you are looking for a huge beautiful beach, and grounds that will take your breath away, this is the resort for you. The rooms are beautiful, the resturants are so special, the French was our favourite, and the service was top notch. The first day I asked room keeping to keep the fridge full of beer and water, only regular coffee, and that is all it took for them to remember for our ten days stay. Every part of this resort was top not[... read more]ch. The beach for swimming and snorkeling was wonderful. Lots of chairs, never a problem getting them and the bar service was always fast. If you enjoy walking, you can go for miles it seems, and if not the double decker bus can take you anywhere. If you stay at the Palace you can go to any resturant or any bar so there is always new places to see. The Dolphins were great to watch and swim with if you chose. The shopping mall was not a big deal to us, but could be to others. We would go back to this resort in a heartbeat!

There is lots to do at the resort to keep you busy, but it is also good for just relaxing - so you can make your vacation exactly what you want.
Giovani is the BEST bartender at Hemminways.
Matias and Victor are the BEST bartenders at the Relax Pool.
I've been to this resort twice and will definitely be returning again in the future.

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf and Spa: Beautiful resort, great vacation
We really couldn't find much to complain about with this resort except that the tea could have been hotter and the oatmeal should have been served unsweetened. (Better to allow people to sweeten their own oatmeal.)
The resort is beautiful, the grounds clean and nicely landscaped, and we loved the Spanish style of architecture. (We hope the resort doesn't undergo a renovation to a modern hotel look with chrome, shiny white marble floors and pink decor similar to that of a resort across the stree[... read more]t).
Our vacation at the resort was all-inclusive. We did not feel nickel and dimed or unpleasantly surprised by hidden charges. We didn't have to pay for drinks at the bar or for the safe in the room.
The food was great - plenty of choices and variety. We had breakfasts and suppers in the gorgeous dining hall. (One evening, we were musically entertained by the Romantic Trio, adding to our dining enjoyment.) For lunch and afternoon snack, we liked going to the outdoor restaurant. For a nice change some evenings, we took advantage of dining by reservation
.
The staff were friendly and helpful and always greeted us with "Ola" whenever they saw us. We were never asked or harassed for tips. The staff really made our stay enjoyable!!
Our room was clean and comfortable and kept well stocked with water, towels, etc. We liked how the bed consisted of 2 double beds pushed together.
Taxis and excursion vehicles were clean and new. Taxi fares were consistent. The drivers were neatly dressed and polite.
The beach was clean, not crowded, and was well stocked with lounge chairs. There were more than enough lounge chairs for everyone and, therefore, no problem with folks claiming chairs for the day while others had to do without (as we had previously experienced on resorts in other countries and on cruises). The resort is across the street and a nice 5 minute walk away from the beach. We liked that there was often a driven motorized cart to take us to and from the beach if we didn't feel like walking. We were also permitted to use another Riu beach club for lunches - very convenient on days when we would spend time on the beach.
We didn't use the pools on our resort, as we preferred the beach.
Excursions were well-organized and went above and beyond our expectations. The tour guides were very friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, spoke English well.
I would have liked to have had more spa services (like facials, makeup application, hair cutting/styling, as well as products to purchase), at our resort. These services were available at another resort but not convenient to access.
On our last day and after checking out, we were able to go for a swim and then we were allowed to use the resort's showers, which were stocked with clean towels and hair dryer. We were so pleased with this. This had been a problem for us on a previous vacation in another country.
Overall, we had a wonderful vacation at this resort!

Las Brisas Huatulco: BEAUTIFUL RESORT, return a must!
First off, we must mention the amazing staff at Las Brisas, Huatulco, Mexico: poolside, the most friendly and attentive Lucilia. Always there each day with a smile and sincere kind words. Our breakfast experience location (which doubled as the Mexican a la carte), was beach side and had a million dollar view, and each morning there was made all the more enjoyable and pleasant by Roberto. Also, we must mention Abad, Leonardo and Mario at the Mediterraneo. Great service and great food. Then, there[... read more] is the efficient and friendly service of Tirso and Alberto at La Pergola a la carte restaurant. We must thank all the waiters that served so well and quickly on the beach to quench the thirst of their guests.
Our room was very nice, updated and kept so clean and in order by our wonderful maid. We had quick and wonderful service by the car drivers. A call from our room through the front desk to get a car took NO time at all. Believe us, it would of been a hike without the use of 24/7 car service. Speedy, efficient, friendly and respectful attention from these drivers.
The resort is built in the natural landscape and the views from these peaks are incredible! Moreover, the ride from the airport to the resort is short so starting your vacation in a beautiful spot in this world is a plus. This was our second time in Huatulco but first time at this resort. We look forward to returning for many reasons: location, weather, hospitality and most all for the respectful efficient service. It was five star.

Dreams Huatulco: Very Nice Resort
We had requested 4 rooms (3 with King beds). When we arrived, we received only one room with a King bed. But we decided against asking for a change as our rooms were all close together and close to the pool. I don't think the resort was full and we had no issues with getting chairs by the pool and only one evening were not able to be seated 8 together at dinner.
I liked the fact that the staff is friendly and efficient but very "hands off". We were not harassed to have photos taken, to purchase [... read more]anything, to play games, etc.
The resort was super clean and the bed comfortable and air conditioning great. The mini bar was stacked daily. I liked the size of the resort - young and old can be comfortable there.
There isn't much of a beach for walking (which we knew) and town is a $5 US trip - not a nice walk - about 5k highway.
The food was okay. I personally found it generally very salty and the usual watered down, sugary drinks. But there was lots of variety and everyone could be content. Perhaps because the resort wasn't full, the buffet wasn't turned over often and I found the food on it to be consistently cold. Not much to be done about that I guess.
All in all, a very pleasant place to hang out for a week. The teenagers with us took advantage of the kayaking and bicycle tour.
