Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Loved this resort

This is a superior resort with very good service and delicious food. We especially enjoyed dining in the outside section of one of the buffet dining rooms in the evening. Great friendly service. They also informed guests around the pool by leaving a paper on each chair at night that they cannot install their towels at the crack of dawn to reserve their chairs around the pool for an indefinite period of time. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: amazing time

could not ask for anything else, amazing staff, grounds and also rooms. best family vacation ever! Everyone there went out of the way to make this vacation great. You can tell that the staff really cares about their quests.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beach was great! Terrible room!

After paying a considerably higher than usual amount for a 1 week stay, we expected to have great room, and delicious food, but that was not the case. Hotel payed attention more to the look of the outside rather than taking care of the problems in the rooms. Aside from slipping in the shower and injuring myself pretty badly on our first day, we had to deal with a leaky ceiling right above the toilet. Imagine sitting on the toilet and water dripping on your head (possibly toilet water from the r [... read more]oom above). Hotel attempted to fix the issue but it was not resolved. We did not get anything to make our stay more comfortable. Food was very repetitive and did not have a large variety. I ended up loosing weight rather than gaining. Took a lot of time going from place to place due to the large resort. Resort busses were pretty good on time but again wasted a lot of time going from one place to the next. Beach was absolutely spectacular. There was enough room in the shade and plenty of chairs for everyone. Pool areas were pretty clean and the water was very warm and enjoyable. We had a somewhat relaxing holiday, advise from limping and dripping toilet water. I would not spend the money to go to this resort again. Completely overpriced!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Best food ever, great staff

Accommodation the best, best beach in all of the resorts we attended.We would recommend this resort. The room were very clean, Beach bar was the best, Very nice pools, The night life was assume. The casino was also the best.

Riu Bambu: This was truly an amazing resort!!!!!!

Had an amazing first time trip to the Dominican Republic! The Resort, facilities and food were amazing. The staff were all very friendly. Had a great time and will return again! We got an amazing price from Trip Central as well!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Good Resort for Price

Staff is very friendly. A short ride form the airport, service was a bit slow at poolside bar but just because of traffic. The drinks (once you get them to customize them a bit) were good. Food was decent - enough choice for every meal. Poolside and beachside were great. Nice, relaxing environment. Nightly activities were entertaining.

This will not be my last time to this location ... remote and away from it all just what we were looking for ... NOT a party place but that is just fine with me ... if you want crazy go to Cancun ... thank you Tripcentral

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great value for money!

Overall, the resort was great! My only complaint would be the way the bathroom in the room is setup...no privacy afforded when travelling with friends. Our shower leaked and there was water everywhere when we showered.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice resort

My wife and I were looking to get away for a week together and this was a great place. We stayed on the resort the whole and we're able to decompress and relax. This is a very nice and small resort with beautiful grounds. The beach was great with lots of trees for shade and overall not too busy. Rooms were great and close to everything. The buffet was very good and we were very well taken care of the staff. The food at the a la carte was ok and it was disappointing that people could smoke at the [... read more]ir tables - big turn off and we did not go back to the a la cartes after the first time.

TRS Turquesa: A Little Peice of Paridise

The Royal Suites Turquesa was by far one of the best resorts we have ever been too. We have been to 17 previous resorts. The grounds were well maintained, you can tell why when you see all of the work they put in every day. We only ate at the restaraunts and the food was fantastic, can not comment on the buffets as we did not use them. Great beach and pools. Hotel rooms were very impressive. Maid survice and butlers #1. All staff was helpful.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing resort!

I really enjoyed the villa style rooms it made you feel like you weren't just in a regular hotel. Walking around you can clearly see the grounds are very carefully maintained, grass, plants and trees are all nicely groomed. The food was amazing with a wide variety. I also loved that the beach was extremely close so you could venture away from the pool and attend the beach in mere seconds. I only wish there was music playing poolside that's all.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Marvelous

I have stayed at this hotel before and returned as I know I can rely on the eagerness of the staff at all levels make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The grounds, pools and beach are well kept and clean. The rooms a quite large and comfortable. The main dining is full of variety at all meals and I found it had something to satisfy all appetites. I did try to make it work but after a few days of stress and lack of sleep, I contacted the manager to arrange for another room. She was wonderful and arranged for a new room for me at a very reasonable price and in the area of the hotel I favoured. It made the difference between what could have been a miserable vacation and which instead turned out to be a great trip. I will definitely return again.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Absolutely beautiful resort

We loved this resort. The room was extremely nice and the junior suite was large. The food was outstanding the the specialty restaurants were superb. The beach was very nice but we did not enjoy having to compete for a lounge chair on the beach and it would be good if the resort would simply buy some more chairs for their guests. The pools were very nice and clean. Staff were friendly but seemed tired, so there weren't as many smiles as you might expect. Staff are a bit too aggressive to get you to attend their "membership" meeting. Grounds are beautiful and well cared for. Entertainment was very good. Riu Merengue: We loved this resort

The grounds were outstanding. The food excellent. The employees very friendly. The beach was beautiful and is very long and roomy. We enjoyed the variety of excursions and the resort offered so many amenities. I would have loved to see more variety for the entertainment side, but the number of pools, bars and restaurants made up for that. I would recommend this resort.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great Resort (List of Pros & Cons)

Overall a great resort. Here is a list of pros & cons: Pros: Great view, Great Service, Good food, Beautifully Decorated Lobby, Interesting & Entertaining afternoon games (darts, bingo, dance, etc.). The best aspect is the beach which allows long walks with great views. Cons: The Merchants are allowed on the beach which can, at times, ruin your relaxation. Other Con is the smell emanating around the river area.

Paradise Playa Dorada: good value for the $

Hotel is very clean. The staff are polite and courteous. Food it standard for all inclusive resorts. They do repeat meals which can get boring but they all do that. We went to the steak restaurant one night, it was nice food ok. The entertainment was always good. U can walk down the road to a small road or take day trips which cost more $. Overall I would go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Incredible 50th Birthday!!

This was the most amazing resort to spend my 50th birthday AND my daughter's 21st birthday, both on New Year's Eve!!! What an incredible party the resort hosted! Fantastic shows, great overall entertainment, fireworks, WOW! Such outstanding memories!!! I HIGHLY recommend this resort!!!!!! The staff is also wonderful and the pool activity coordinators are a blast!!! Thanks for an outstanding trip!

Grand Bavaro Princess: Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort & Spa

Since we preferr the smaller more quaint resorts in Mexico we were sceptical about going to Dominican. Our nephew was getting married which prompted us and 40 guests to travel to Punta Cana . Comments: The resort is huge and is spread out over a large area but nicely laid out.(beautiful grounds!) The main hotel which is older and furthest from the beach.(Not recommended) The majo [... read more]rity of accomodations are 2 storey bungalos (4 units per building) Bungalos are well furnished and comfortable with good beds as well as roomy balconies or patio areas. The grounds are meticulously cared for and manicured with lucious tropical plantings. The staff is amazing (very happy joyous people not looking for tips for service) actually more friendlier than in Mexico! The public washrooms are constantly being cleaned. The beach is exceptional with wide long stretches ...great for long walks Downside,....there is no snorkeling from the beach (boat excursions only but very poor compared to reefs in Mexico) Water is a bit rough with good size waves for body-surfing Food was average as well as drinks.(they tend to overcook the meat...chicken not so bad) Best specialty restaurant was the Tappenyaki (fun nite and excellent stir fry) There are 2 pools....best pool to hang out is the one closest to the beach (never over- crowded and close to lunch time buffet and bars) Transportation around the resort provided by small trams which ran every 15 minutes or so NOTE: Surprisingly the trams were very enjoyable as we drove thru beautiful tropical landscapes enroute to the main lobby or restaurants. Some of the trams would play fun music as you wind thru the beautiful pathways.(kids loved riding the trams!) This resort is very kid friendly (our grand kids were with us) staff would always take time to acknowledge them. NOTE: The only shade on the beach is under a palapa since the palms are very tall with little follage and do not throw much shade. Plenty of beach chairs available but only in sunny areas. Summary: No-one in our party of 40 got sick!(some maybe had a bit too much tequila!) We loved the resort /atmosphere and the staff . Our request to be close to the beach 2nd floor bungalo was honoured.My wife and I believe this was the big factor as we ususlly stay in smaller resorts often seconds away from the beach.My daughter occasionally put her little guy down in our room for afternoon naps instead of riding the tram to her room. We loved our room and its location. The resort was clean and safe. Surprisingly ......we would consider returning to this resort !

The hotel was very clean the service was excellent the food was fabulous our room was very nice. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Maintenance issues

Our room had some maintenance issues, toilet seat broken, light in hallway not working, no plug and insects in the bath, some things were fixed when we asked, some were not. Found some of the staff very helpful, for example when the internet we paid for did not work a staff member let us use his email to contact home. Other staff were surly or rude or ignored us in the restaurant . The pool was wonderful!! The entertainment by the pool at night was lovely, a 3-4 piece band with a singer.
