Gran Muthu Imperial: Not the best experience!
The overall experience was below poor. We usually make the best of our Cuba vacations, however this was the most challenging time we’ve ever had. We don’t go to Cuba for the food, but to have to eat all meals at the snack bar, with close to no food, flies and birds landing on your food, food was always cold, it’s not acceptable and I’m pretty sure it does not meet any health requirements.
This hotel has no beach, so you have to walk to the next door hotel through uncut and unmanicured g[... read more]rounds. The pools are great however the water looks dirty. The rooms are nicely done as the resort is newer. We would not return to this resort and definitely would not recommend to any of my family and friends.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Another fun, sunny Cuba vacation
Beach, pool, bars are great. Food is regular Cuba resort minus the free lobster. My other 7 Cuba resorts have at least 2 lobster dinner. It seems there was no attempt to control bugs such as the many flies in the buffet area and sand fleas which are hard to detect.
The resort is subpar for an Iberostar. there was a lack of maintenance such as sliding doors which do not lock, safe with no battery, the toilet design (brand) is bad, and maintenance of the toilet is badly needed.
The room its[... read more]elf is quite spacious and nice.
There is no disco but the nightly entertainment was quite good.

Melia Costa Rey: Average resort
There was no water one full day, just an average hotel. Not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend. Food was just average. Will try another hotel if we decide another trip. Luckily only 3 days we spent.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Hotel is struggling
Hotel service in general is struggling. We had several issues however we made the best of it.
1. Room towels were limited. We had to speak to management to get some and when we finally did, they were not replaced everyday.
2. Beach towels, same as above however these were not replaced the entire trip.
3. We had 2 rooms 318, 319. Both rooms had the following issuses.
A. Shower heads did not have cold water. When you switch on the cold water, nothing came out and hot water basically trickled[... read more] out. We needed to bath kids using a glass, we would fill water from the fauset and carry it over to shower to rinse. We complained and on the 4th day, we finally moved into other rooms which had running water coming out of the shower head.
4. Phones and room safes do not work.
5. We believe we had some sort of bed bug in the first two rooms. Bites all over legs.
6. If you like beaches, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT. I cannot stress enough how this beach is not your typical sandy Cuba beach. There is no sand ANYWHERE, Just rocks where theyve built an elevated walk way. If you want beach, this is not the place for you.
7. Main pool was green when we arrived. They unfortunately did not have chlorine and cleaning Agents until day 3.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Ruined vacation
I went to this resort about 10 years ago and service and food was excellent. That's why I decided to comeback again to experience it. Unfortunately, level of servece and comfort went down so I would rate it 2 star resort - toilet was not working upon arrival, no restocking drinks in a room (diamond club) unless you complaine to front office every day, no plastic cups in bars on a beach so no drinks, spanish speaking (locals) serviced first, food in a la carte the same as in buffet, flies on fo[... read more]od, internet had constant issues and restricted and not unlimited, etc, etc, etc
I talked to several families on a beach and they experienced the same issues...
Cuba and beaches are good just not in this resort.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Disappointing
Let me start off by saying the staff was wonderful at the Buffet and beach bar. The room was a good size but could not open the screen or patio door half a roll of toilet paper one bar of soap in seven days my towels were never changed in my hotel room. I got my beach towels changed only one day. If you enjoy long walks on the beach don’t bother staying at this hotel because you cannot walk on the beach you enter the water from a pier. The staff work so hard the problem is management. I would [... read more]not recommend this hotel

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: This is a very poorly run hotel
I have never written a review
on a hotel except for this hotel.
We just returned from a ladies week away.
Save your money or choose another hotel.
Hotel rating given is a one star at the very best. We believe that the higher star reviews have some how been paid for from an inside source.
Issues: poorly set up check in process, no air conditioning in the buffet, flies landing on the prepared food, some of the staff seemed very, very unhappy and not easily approachable.
We saw time ov[... read more]er time that Spanish speaking people were served before the Ontario ladies.
The rooms: Upon check in, one of my friends was placed into another building. My other friend found someone else’s hair on her floor. I had bugs jumping on me. My pillows smelled like vomit. The balcony door could not be opened.
My electricity in my room kept on shutting off.
They actually ran out of toilet paper.
Many other shortages. No diet pop only Coke, Sprite and Orange. If you are diabetic, good luck!
They refused to hand out plastic bottles. but they gave you one bottle of their purified water, per day.
Pool: Main pool turned green and they did not correct the problem for more than two days. Beach towel service was almost non existent.
During our week I could only exchange my towel once, as they stated they had no clean towels.
Walkways at night had little to no light. Very dangerous to walk our friend to her building.
Beach: Athough they built a nice pier, the steps to get into the ocean were very green and slimy making it very dangerous to get in and out.
Why would the staff not clean the steps??
Shame on Iberostar for not properly maintaining this property!
Shame on Iberostar for making our time in Cuba horrific.

Gran Muthu Imperial: It was good
My issues were that I had to keep asking for more time to use the wifi.
The food was not even warm some days and I think they were intentionally burning the fries.
I found some decent meals.
Some staff were not friendly.
Gym was not adequate.
They need to renovate some areas.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great Stay !!
I have made many many trips to Cuba over the last 11 years with many of them in the Cayo Coco / Cayo Guillermo area. Having stayed at many of the resorts in Cuba, I would like to say that this was one of the best Cuban experiences yet. My friends and I had the suites 6314 and 6315 that looked directly over the beach with a commanding view of the ocean. The room was very much first rate and worth the price.
The hotel is well done with great services and facilities to keep you well entertain[... read more]ed and comfortable during your stay.
Upon our arrival, Marianne and her colleague, Roxana, were fantastic at reception when we arrived and through out our stay with a very strong interest in making sure that we had the best stay possible. The ladies had a great working relationship with their Manager Rafael Peñaranda. He was very focused on supporting his team to drive the vision of great service and efficient solutions to client needs. Thank you very much for everything.
Around the resort there were many wonderful people doing great things that just made the stay fantastic for all. Yurida made sure our room was impeccable. Beyond cleaning, she would add little touches that made us feel welcomed and at our home away from home. For breakfast and lunches, we always sat in the section that Dainarys was responsible for. She worked so hard in the heat of the summer to make sure she did her best for the clients. She always was warm and welcoming and a model of eloquence. Mary was one of the entertainers. She has a personality that motivated everyone in her pool exercise sessions in the morning and to get people up on stage to sing Karaoke at night. She clearly became the motivation for the fun many people had.
Separately, for those into scuba, Coco Diving has been a go to location for many of my diving trip. The Manager is a man by the name of Noidel. I have known him for many years from when I did my my open water certification to now, as a diving friend and fellow instructor. Noidel. the Instructor staff, and Yail are some of the finest people and professionals I have had the chance to know.
There were many more people that I would like to thank as well, like Lester and Oslaydis from Sunwing, that were just always there and happy to help that just made this trip so memorable. Even after all the trips to Cuba over the years (easily 30 to 40 trips) that I have made, I found this to be one of the most memorable and it is a great reason I would keep going back.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories are special
This is my second time at this resort. Go with an open mind and enjoy what Cuba has to offer. Remember that Cuba does not have access to the supplies most countries have, however they seem to make the best of their situation. Beach is second to none and people are also fantastic. If you are going for variety at the buffet pick a different country. The junior suite is perfect and the resort is very good for walking.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Terrible resort - over stated rating by travel agency
This resort was not somewhere I would recommend anyone to stay. It’s dated, no renovations have been done in a long time. Washroom was dirty in the room, no AC in our room, food was terrible and same dishes every day. Staff was short handed but tried to do their best. The resort had majority locals. They ran out of coffee one day, ran out of beer one day. The 1 and a half pool was not maintained. Even the drinks were poor. While the resort was bad there is much to be said about the poor guidan[... read more]ce by tripcentral, and the standards they claim is a “4†star. This was at best a 2. Stop overselling your resorts by rating them higher than they are. Would not recommend this resort to anyone and would ls say do not use tripcentral rating blindly.

Review of Playa Paraiso - Cayo Coco Beach Resort
Reviewed 1 week ago via mobile
Back again, including my June trip when I celebrated my birthday here. The June and this August trips both suffered from similar problems that plague the rest of Cuba. Shortages are a fact of life in Cuba that also impact clients at the resorts. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful beach
We go to Cuba just for the beaches and this beach was amazing - crystal clear water and white sand with a sand bar in the water and a long stretch of beach to take nice walks. The buildings are older, the rooms are clean, but very basic. The pressure in the shower is not good and only a small amount of water trickles out. The staff are absolutely amazing and couldn't do enough for us. The food is typical Cuba; they run out of things like beer, mint, coffee, no pizza in the snack bar etc, but we [... read more]don't go to Cuba for the food. We could always find something to eat though. We would go back to this hotel for the beautiful beach and not for a luxury vacation.

Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow
We arrived and had no one greet us or assist with our bags. No one was at the check in and we had to go looking for someone which took half a hour to get someone. Upon arrival at our room our bed covers were covered with pooh i kid you not we took photos . They did eventually come and change the covers and it seemed like we were putting them out of their way to do so. We been to Cuba 10 times so we know what to expect . Rainbow redefined the term inedible food. Morning breakfast consisted or the[... read more] omelette station with choice of egg chees and chives other breakfast option were beans and hot dogs and that’s it. I understand limited choices but that ridiculous. Lunch consisted of grilled cheese hot dogs no hamburger they ran out and fries . Sit down was a chicken leg that was bleeding on the plate you got the same option for dinnerThe next night we went to the Indian where they served up mullet which again was disgusting 🤢. That was all the food options they had. They had no fish as Kitty the customer service rep said all of Cuba is under a fishing ban and no resorts have any fish and resorts are also rationed for food and beverages which they claimed as to why they have to limit guests what they can eat. As far as beverages they had no soda water orange juice tequila sparkling wine and most mixes to make drinks .so you drink wine or beer. They could even make a mojito. many guest said they were starving you can only eat so much pasta and french fries Half way through the trip we transfer to Melia Cayo Coco. The resort manager refused to speak to us and handed the staff member a waiver for us to sign when leaving not to talk about the issues. . We refused .When we arrived at the Melia they had unlimited choices of food No fish ban at this resort or food restrictions like at the Rainbow. night and day difference between food beverages and service. Rainbow did. us in a bunch of people one day for a photo shoot with food and fun that never happened for the paying guests . I truly take the great reviews you see with a grain of salt .Rainbow is a 3 star at best and very over priced . Melia Cayo Coco is a 6 star in comparison .

Melia Cayo Coco: Highly Recommend!
My girlfriend and I have both been to Cuba multiple times before, but we would highly recommend Cayo Coco and this resort to anyone thinking of taking the trip.
The beach was beautiful, white sand and tons of shade and chairs for everyone. It was fairly windy on the beach, but it was very hot during our one week stay so we welcomed the wind to keep us cool. The beach water was warm, but very refreshing as well. There was beach entertainment in the morning (bocce, volleyball, dancing lesson[... read more]s etc.) to keep us busy, then the entertainment moved to the pool in the afternoon which allowed for some time to relax. They had kayaks and paddle boats you can rent out as well. On one of our last days a resort worker offered to take us out snorkeling at a reef about 100 meters off the shore which was definitely a highlight of our trip.
The service was great plus the staff were all incredibly friendly and could speak English. The bartenders, waiters/waitresses, entertainers, and front desk staff were always willing to help and are very friendly.
The food was very good for a Cuban resort, especially in this post covid period. It is missing some of the brand names products we would normally get from the U.S. (ketchup etc.), but it did not make a big difference to us. We had heard from travelers to other resorts that there were shortages of foods and alcohol to many of the resorts in Cuba, but Melia Cayo Coco seemed to have no shortages at all. A variety of freshly cooked food at the buffet and fancier meals at the al a cartes kept us more than satisfied.
Our room was decent, but definitely not a highlight of the trip. We got the base level room and while it was nothing special, there were no major issues other than an air conditioning leak on our first day (which was fixed within 15 minutes of us reporting it to the front desk and the issue never happened again).
The resort itself was small which makes getting around everywhere a lot faster. There was evening entertainment which included dance shows and some excellent live music which was always a nice way to end the night.
Overall I would highly recommend this resort, especially to those looking for something smaller and quieter designed for relaxation. However, if you are looking for a resort with a younger crowd and a lot of partying, this may not be the best resort for you.
