Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great value resort

This resort is nice, however not exactly new. The rooms are nice and are clean, but a little dated. The adults only side is very quiet and relaxing. The pools are very nice and the food is pretty good as well. The resort staff are friendly and very accommodating. We asked for a nice room and they delivered with a beautiful view of the ocean at no additional cost. Overall I feel it is a very good value resort. Plenty of restaurant choices. Beautiful beach. We enjoyed staying at the adults only with the option to use the entire resort. There is deffinately more action on the Palace side, however the peace and tranquility on the adults only side is amazing! I would definately recommend this resort.

Occidental Papagayo: Great vacation!!!

Beautiful grounds(well taken care of) great pools (very clean) and the beach was a wonderful Costa Rica beach with great views. High Tide early afternoon a few days when we were there... so we just hopped on over to one of the pools. Food was good, breakfast was similar each morning but a lot of variety and I'm not sure what else could be added, it was all there and yummy! Two little things we think need work over all; towels for the pool and beach- our first day it took us 4 visits to the towel area to get a towel because they didnt know when they would be clean? This was first thing in the morning... maybe purchase more towels? The other would be more shuttles and smaller maybe, like a golf cart? The drivers were very professional and know those narrow roads like the back of their hands... might help them to have more driving staff and smaller vehicles. We've been to Costa Rica twice and we come for the heat, beach and relaxation. We had a very great vacation at Occidental. It's a lovely resort over all and the staff are great!!!

Barcelo Solymar: Deteriorated Resort

The gardens were well maintained but I’m afraid the room was a disappointment to say the least. The only good thing was that the mattress was firm and comfortable. The food was very repetitive and it made me very sick for two whole days enough that I had to go to the clinic. I will not return to this hotel. Also I called reception a couple of times and when the girl on the desk couldn’t understand what I was saying, she simply hung up on me....very rude. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful resort

The grounds are gorgeous at every turn. The food is spectacular and everything I tasted was delicious. The waiters at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants are very detail oriented and really take care of you. I liked the Santa Fe steak house the best, and the Kyoto, Japanese. There is a fair bit of walking as the resort is quite large and it takes a day or two to get your bearings. Pools are well maintained and drink service excellent. I booked 6 months ahead and still did not get the 2 double beds requested. Disappointed but I accepted this. The rooms are showing their age. My sliding patio door was almost impossible to open and close without hurting my hand. I called about 4 times before it was fixed. You need to get a bit upset so they will act on it. The beach was vacant as there is much seaweed. Only 4-5 people in the ocean! No one in the hundreds of beach chairs, a strange sight indeed. But the pools are beautiful and I didn’t mind at all, no one else seemed to either. There are lots of shaded areas by the pools, so no need to get there super early. Staff are great and always helpful. They are hard workers and deserve any tips given. This is a well run resort, IMO, but not for people with mobility issues. i.e. have difficulty walking a lot. You might gain a few pounds however, the desserts are wonderful!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Love love love the resort!

Everything the service, the pools, the beaches, the food. Thank you Tanya for helping us book and making one of my dreams come true! Wouldn’t change anything about this family vacation. We went 7 days and it was the perfect amount of time to come for our first time. We are already planning our next trip to the same resort. This time my brothers family and sisters family will be joining us. I’m hoping to book through Tanya again she was so helpful and easy to work with.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Wonderful resort!

Every aspect of this resort was spectacular. Whether it was the great assortment of food, restaurants, long meandering pools, planned activities, they had it all. We will most definitely recommend this resort to others for a carefree vacation.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Disappointing

So disappointed. I have stayed at several Occidentals, never have I been this disappointed. The front counter people were so rude upon our arrival, hallway to our room, it was so dirty, unsafe looking. In our room, you could see thru into the hallway around the door. Our toilet seat was broken, shortage of towels in our room. We went back to the front counter to report the toilet seat and to get a couple of more towels as there was 3 of us in the room. Sorry, no staff to give you towels to [... read more]night. Maintenance came to fix the toilet seat at 1:00 am. We asked about a snack bar and all they had was hotdogs/hamburgers and no drinks. Needless to say we called our Rep right away. And we moved to another resort the next day.

Allegro Cozumel: Another excellent stay at Hotel Allegro!

Beautiful beach with clean water, white sand and breathtaking views. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Everyone at this hotel (from the front desk staff and bell boys to the cleaning ladies, bartenders and restaurant staff) works extremely hard to ensure that you have a pleasant experience. Dining service is extremely fast and the staff friendly. Options at the buffet are always plentiful and you can find something for everyone. We come to Mexico at least 3 times a year and always choo [... read more]se Hotel Allegro, for all of the reasons above and more. Highly recommend, especially for families with young children.

Barcelo Solymar: Awesome Resort

I enjoyed everything about this resort. The grounds were nicely kept ,the pools were great and my room was huge.I can't complain about the maid service as I didn't ask for much service as I went alone. The buffet had a good variety so you could always find something you liked. Also we had access to Arenas Blancas to use the facilities. Staff weren't pushy but if you needed their help they were willing. I would definitely go back.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Really nice resort

This was a really nice resort. There was a lot to do all the time, The place was clean and the people were very friendly. My room was very comfortable and clean. The food was delicious and you never want for choice. The waiting staff were very efficient, friendly and quick to help you. I did go to the spa and it was wonderful. There is a huge mall ,bowling ally and casino on sit so at night after dinner there is some thing to do. They also have entertainment in the theater every night. [... read more] There is lots of beach to walk to.There are lots of off site excursions to take with very good guides.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing Value

Great Value at that price point. 4-5 Star dining, great new rooms at the Palace and the Adult Pool was great. It was paradise every day, met lots of great people, I was single but it did not matter. It would also be a great family vacation.

Palma Real: For people with experience with 3* cuban hotels

Been at hotel Palma Real from 21 to 28th May 2019. I only gave a 2 stars even though I am an experienced cuban traveler and have used casas particular, 2-3 stars as well as 5 stars hotels and have stayed at Palma Real many times. This particular time, I arrived during the cuban's vacation time. Unfortunatlly for us tourists, it often means, very loud guests, empty buffets, shortage of about everything on the site (bottled water in rooms, choice of drinks, closed restaurants due to lack of f [... read more]ood) poor service and rooms that greatly need clean ups in general. If this is your first time vacationing in Cuba and are looking for the beautiful pictures we see in magazines, I suggest you take another hotel. If you are a seasoned cuban traveler, don't mind basic outfits, going out to eat a few times in town and get a really good deal (less than 650$) this could be for you. *** At this time of the year, book the special restaurants on weekends (advised by the hotel staff), because boatloads of cuban buses arrive daily from friday to monday. Don't get me wrong, I love cubains, but I did save all year for one week of relaxation by the beach. I would appreciate to have more than rice to eat. If it was not for the swarm of cubans invading the buffet, and the basics missing, I would give it a 3 to 4 stars, because of the great pools,and the location (close to calle 62, walking distance to the markets, restaurants and clubs. Otherwise, I had fun like I always do, with other tourists and cubans alike. Must mentionned Canadians were outnumbered by Cubans and Russians, witch made it a bit sad on the beach with cuban and russian music competing on who would be the loudest. PS: Also warning about the shops inside (and I guess outside too) the hotel. They rip off every foreign guests by charging a fortune for anything. 5$ chip, 3$ coka-cola. Here is a tip: REQUEST and INSIST that they use the bar code gun. This one doesn't lie. The price will be exact. If they start punching a hole bunch of number on the cash... it's just to rob you blind. I saved 3 guests 22$ overcharge on just 3 chips and 3 cokes just by telling the cashier to start again with the gun. Sad but true. 2nd PS: Other Canadian Travelers from upscale resort faced the same problems with food and cuban guests. Sadly, many on our plain back home mentioned that they would not come back to cuba for their future vacations because of that. A least we had amazing weather all week long.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: What a Great Vacation!

My Fiance and I traveled to the Barcelo Maya Colonial during the week of May 19th - 26th. We had a great time, the weather was fantastic and all the people at the resort were super friendly. The rooms were a little musky, but you have to expect that in a tropical destination. Book it and enjoy! Cheers

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Nice Resort!

We had a great time in Cuba. The pools were great Close to the ocean. Nice to have access to two resorts. Food was ok. Night life was fun. Rooms were ok. Service was great We would go back to Cuba 🇨🇺

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great stay!

The hotel grounds really felt like paradise with all the palm trees. Even though it was a big resort (not our ideal), everything felt close-by. While the beach was not the greatest (lots of seaweed and rocks) the pools definitely made up for it. Lots of games and entertainment throughout the day and night. The breakfast and lunch buffets were great with plenty to choose from. We recommend making reservations at the restaurants for dinner (buffet was not great for dinner). Barcelo Bavaro Palace: I loved it!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace exceded all my expectations. From the building itself, the quality and good taste of design, the service, the restaurants, beach etc. I was impressed and I am someone who has traveled quite a lot, so I can compare. I am already recommending this resort and I would certainly go back!

Occidental Punta Cana: Great time!

We stayed at the Occidental Punta Cana for 10 days. Hotel is close to airpot- 20min. *Check in & out was so fast! We loved that *Room was huge, clean & great location. I recommend building 23,24,25 if you want closer to ocean. *Beach was BEAUTIFUL! always available lounge chairs- the only downfall is the people on the beach harassing you to take pictures with the parrots.monkeys or to buy something from them. if you say no they will let you be. *Grounds were spectacular & always well kep [... read more]t throughout the day. *Food I would say is a 3/5 .. there was always a variety just most times it became repetitive.. but we didn't complain- it was still above average! *Pools (3 of them)- lovely and always clean! 1 party pool and the other 2 were quiet. *Service- pretty good! anytime you needed something answered, help or whatever it may be someone was there to help guide you. *Vibe- this hotel caters mainly to latins. I could probably count the english speaking people at this resort- many tourists from columbia, chile, costa rica, peru and dominicans themselves (a few locals were there vacationing) Therefore the workers here don't speak the best of english if any at all. *This hotel caters mainly to couples & families. Not many singles if this is what you maybe looking for. Overall hubby & myself had a wonderful time!! We would rate this hotel a 8/10. For the price , location & gorgeous beach-- we hope to return!! =)

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Wow!!!!

From the airport pickup, speedy check-in and wonderful welcome service to the room, restaurants, beach, activities and staff...this was a well-rounded WOW resort. Made my stay worthwhile and fun. I loved it!

Barcelo Maya Palace: The truth and nothing but ...

First of all don't fly Air Canada Rouge. The seats were very uncomfortable. Compared to Air Transat is far superior. I thought when we were booking from agency that they would have first hand knowledge about the resorts condition. Let's say they was so much seaweed it was unbearable to swim and the smell was so awful. I was very disappointed because the conditions where like that for over 4 weeks. We should have been notified before booking. Also we had some issues with the room. Fir [... read more]st of all the phone was broken, the bar fridge wasn't working. No hot shower on two occasions. Also the sinks wouldn't drain and if you turn on the tap the water would spray out of the sink. We saw a bug that looked like a cockroach. The resort failed to tell us how to book for the restuarants. I also had a medical emergency and went to hospital. The resort /management never asked how I was feeling or if I was ok . Just on that premises I would not recommend this resort.
