Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Poor Management and customer service

We travel to Cuba frequently and our recent trip was the worst experience we ever had. Resort was rated to be 5 Star but it's not. First thing we experienced after checking in and heading to our room was broken and missing floor tiles in the hallways and even in the elevators through the resort. Linen in the room had moldy smell. When we go to Cuba we keep our mind open when it comes to food but never experienced cockroaches running around on the food in buffet restaurant. Third day at the resor [... read more]t around noon I slipped on the wet floor and fell. This resulted in an injury on my forehead and eyebrow I was bleeding really bad. After dressing my wound a little bit the staff got us in a cab and told us to go to the clinic. No one from the resort bother to ride with us to the clinic. My wife was really panicking and luckily these was a very nice couple from Toronto that we had met earlier, they offered to come with us. Doctors and staff at the clinic were very nice they took care of me right away. After getting around ten stitches we came back to the resort. A couple of days later my stitches start bleeding badly early in the morning. We went to the reception and we were told to take a cab to the clinic. The Resort should have looked after their guests better especially when they got injured at their facility. Surprisingly a Five Star resort did not have customer service any better than 2 Star. Long story short it was the worst trip ever to Cuba.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Overall, an average experience

Upon our arrival, we checked in and were promptly greeted by our Concierge, Oscar, who took us on a brief tour of the grounds before arriving at our Oceanview Junior Suite. The room presented well enough at first, but closer inspection revealed many failings. Our balcony door showed obvious signs of previous forced entry, and did not seal properly, allowing noice to penetrate our room that had been selected specifically for its remote location as an anticipated quiet retreat. 30 yards from our b [... read more]alcony, rather than a lovely ocean view, we were disappointed to find the exclusive, members only, open air lounge, complete with bright spot lights that were never turned off through our entire stay, and a large PA system that ruined any chance of peace as the speakers blared music from which there could be no escape. Additionally, the shower failed to drain properly, the climate controls were cracked and faulty, the electrical was a bit of a mystery, and the beds/pillows were substandard. Given the star rating, we certainly expected better. The real highlight of this trip was the food – plentiful, and great quality. It was a seafood lovers dream. Both food and drink are worthy of the star rating. Unfortunately, the troop responsible for our entertainment were average at best. The investment in show planning was obvious, but the talent just wasn't there. In particular, when it came to our New Year's Eve show, we expected something special, yet we found ourselves watching the same group of semi-capable performers attempting to run through a montage of rock music, most of which they were simply not able to accurately perform. As a musician, their lack of skill was obvious to me, but it was equally obvious to others, and the audience response was apathetic. Entertainment through the day was limited, but suited my desire for a more self-directed experience. The service at the resort varied widely. Our Concierge provided excellent service but was spread thin. Others ranged from enthusiastic to apathetic, and service was often delayed due to staff that seemed to be indifferent to the needs of guests. The grounds of the resort were very well kept and beautiful. The efforts to meet with eco-friendly objectives were admirable, particularly the elimination of straws and plastic bottles. Filtered water stations and refillable glass bottles replace plastic – a brilliant idea! Unfortunately, the resort is somewhat limited in size and scope, limiting options for a la carte dining (which was all good), shops, or the variety of hang-out/lounging locations. The beach was adequate, but not one of the better ones I've experienced, leading the vast majority of guests to spend their leisure time at the pool, complete with broken-down jacuzzi that showed no indication of being repaired any time soon. Overall, this resort was average, despite the great quality food, and not deserving of a 4.5 star rating. I would definitely not recommend this resort to others, and would not return.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great resort and amazing staff

Great hotel with lots to do and wide selection of restaurants to choose from. Location is within 30 minutes from the cancun airport which is convenient. The beach was crowded but very nice and the pools were amazing definitely the best of the various resorts we’ve visited. The resort staff was incredible especially the entertainment team who always had lots going and and did a great job interacting with people. The shows were top notch especially the New Year’s Eve show and after party.  [... read more] The resort is large but never felt busy (except the beach) even though it apparently full. Only 2 areas for improvement were the rooms are a little dated and not as nice as other places we’ve been and the the Paraiso beach doesn’t give you access to other resorts for drinks and food (we didn’t know this going there but likely this was our fault for not reading up on the resort because everyone else seemed to understand and accept this). This wasn’t a major issue since there was lots to do at our resort but if your thinking to venture over to the lindo or maya resort this may be something to consider. Would definitely return to to this hotel.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good value for money

Large resort. Food is good, can be a bit salty, enough variety on a daily basis to find something you like. Nightly shows okay - standard as in other resorts. Staff is friendly and and always ready to serve you - no issues at all. Of course tips are appreciated, but I did not feel they were expected. In talking to the workers, most preferred goods as tips (toiletries, gently used clothing, shoes) since these are hard to come by, even if you have money. Overall, a very good stay!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Below average , not a 4 star hotel at all.

try to be honest while i do my review. overall cleanliness was OK. Beach was great. BUT they try to feed you with minimum veraieties foods and repeatitive cheep stuff. We were sick and tired of the same foods every day and night , low quality big chicken leg n smelly fish... I love Cuba for the beach and I have been to Cuba 7 times so i know how to set my expectation when I go to Cuba but honestly everything about this resort was below average. sun beds r sagging hardly you can find an ok on [... read more]e. drinks are watery and tasteless , even their pina colada doesnt have pineapple juice. Entertainements are very ordinary.... I would give them 2 or 3 star at best

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Coral Iberostar Ensenachos

Amazing rooms,grounds and beach. The service was exceptional! This was our first time at the Coral Level and we will certainly be back. No problems with food...always hot and presentation was appreciated. No issues finding beach chairs or a place at the pool. The staff went out of there way on numerous occasions to make our stay memorable. Looking forward to our next vacation at this resort!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: VERY DISAPPOINTING

Terrible service, no quality Canadian food/alcohol, maid did a great job, room was quite nice, beach was terrible, grounds were badly kept, for a one year old resort, it looked 20 years old, horrible problem with bug bites, all 20 members of our group got badly bitten, a la carte food and service was good, buffet selection never changed and service was non-existent

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: It was ok!

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days and it was ok.I cannot say that it was amazing,but for the price we got we are happy with it.The property is clean (not enough garbage bins outside thou),the staff is friendly.The rooms were always cleaned up very well.The food was not bad but it was too repetative and there are not so many food options for vegetarians or people with food allergies.The hotel itself is 20 years old but it didnt look bad,everything worked well in the room.Beach was nice!My kid w [... read more]as in kid's club and Carolina was amazing. Overall,I would recommend it only if you get a good deal on it.If you are planning to buy with a regular price,I suggest you to consider other options.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very nice resort

We stayed at the Iberostar for 14 days. My husband & I have traveled all over the DR about 25 times. The Iberostar is a very nice resort & and I would definitely return. The service of the staff is excellent and they do not cut corners looking after their customers. Our waiter, Robert was very attentive and brought us coffee & juice as soon as we sat down. The food was very good and well displayed. The restaurants were good and we tried all 3. They have a live band that plays music at the beach most days at lunch time. The beach was nice with many palapas so you didn't have to rush down to save a chair. We spent mornings at the beach and afternoons at the pool. The pool is large and deep enough to actually swim. This pool is probably my favourite when I compare to other resorts. Overall the resort is very well laid out and I liked the easy access for lunch by the pool as well as the bar. In the lobby they have a very nice bar which is right beside the theater for the show. The bartenders were very friendly and efficient looking after customers. It was nice to have the option to sit in the bar area for a drink or walk and sit in the theater for the show. I did use the gym and they had enough equipment to provide a good workout but the area is cramped. I saw the spa, and although I never used it, the area looked very inviting with massage tables, lounge chairs around a private pool. They also had a bird sanctuary for egrets which was pretty lively and nice to check out. A bit smelly but there's alot of birds there! Our room was very comfortable and in a good location in the 6000 block close to the pool and beach. The only downside of my vacation was, I did get ill the second week I was there for 3 days in bed and it took another 2 days to gain my full strength. This could happen anywhere and who knows where I may have picked up germs. Luckily we brought medication with us for diarrhea which likely helped. Despite this set back, I would recommend this resort.

Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun: A small, great 5 star resort!

Simple summary... Great, small, quiet adult only resort as a sub resort of the Iberostar Cancun resort. You still have access to all of the amenities of the main resort. Brand new - Opened in Dec 2018. Had room 5112 - spectacular walk around balcony with views of ocean and main resort. No seaweed - lots of small sandbars to swim out to and body surf safely in waves. It was too cool until Xmas Day and then lots of people started using it, socializing more around it, etc.. Soooooo, keep the pool warm! One little gem: in the main resort, second floor, behind the bar, next to the Japanese/Steakouse restaurants, is a Star Prestige (old name for Coral) lounge. Full access to all premium wines, liquor, etc... So when at the main resort, check it out Will be coming back

Hotel Mojito: Perfect time

We had the most amazing family Christmas vacation . Everything was good the food the people the entertainment and the rooms . No complaints . This was our first time in Cuba and I am glad I made the right choice and picked mojito

Iberostar Origin Tainos: A great resort in Veradero .

The hotel was a great stay for me , the staff were very goid at making my stay as enjoyable as pisdible . Plenty to eat at all the resturant s. The pool and beach were my favorite place to spend my day . I would return there later this coming spring for sure !

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: I liked it !

Staff , hotel , beach was great , food for a little repetitive after a couple of days . Restaurants were good , room was awesome . There was a lack / or no lighting several nights which I reported but not much was done . Your were in total darkness from your room to section 28 29 ....overall a grade of 9 I would go back

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Awesome Punta Mita Resort

We stayed at Iberostar Selection Punta Mita resort Dec 13 to 22, 2019. The resort was wonderful with great service, immaculate, and friendly staff. We loved the Japanese restaurant which had a great show by our chef. Staff provide great service at restaurants, pool, and bars. Servers Hugo, Jessy, Andrea, Elvina provided exceptional service. Every night the maid provided turn down service in our room and new towel art on our bed.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Very good value for money

Buffet - 9/10 Restaurants - 5/10 Beach - 7/10 : the only thing we didn't like is a lot of seeweed starting somewhat 10-30 m from the beach Room - 8/10 Cleanness - 9/10 In overall, very good value for money, calm sandy sea, service is good and friendly, rooms are big enough and clean, beach is clean, a lot of beds/umbrellas.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Still a relaxing trip

I have been to this resort a few times already and was quite pleased with my experience in the past. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the Rooms and grounds are generally well kept, the food options are plentiful and the beach is phenomenal. This time things were not as smooth with the trip in general but it did not prevent us from still enjoying our trip. Our flight was delayed 3 hours due to engine problems which I understand it happens. What was frustrating was the fact that I  [... read more]paid $100 more per person for the earlier flight only to arrive at the hotel at 6:30pm instead of 11am. I feel like I got ripped off. Secondly, when checking in a very large tour group was checking in at the same time. No one was able to help us for 45 min (no exaggeration). We were tired and hungry from the delay ( with a toddler ) and all we wanted to do was sit and eat something but we were not allowed to do so until they checked us in so we stood in line waiting for over 45 min. We went to our room and the ac was broken so we called to the desk and they very quickly put us in a new room without question. They handled that very well! Last, something went wrong at the hotel and we only had a clean beach towel the first two days. After that no one in the resort had clean beach towels available to them. We had to re use our existing towels for 5 days straight. At the end of the day, the purpose for our trip was to relax and be beach bums which was exactly what we accomplished!!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Another great vacation

We have stayed at the Iberostar Del Mar numerous times, in fact - we got married there a couple of years ago. Less than 1/2 hour drive from the Cancun airport, which is nice after a flight. Fabulous staff, excellent service and beautiful grounds. The beach is beautiful and plenty of shade options if you cannot tolerate all the sun! :) Looking forward to another return to the hotel. Iberostar Selection Varadero: Excellent vacation!

This was our first trip to Cuba and the decision to go to this resort was based on other reviews. May I say the reviews are right, this resort is clean, beautiful and close to many excursions. The staff are friendly, helpful and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The food, I’m assuming for Cuba is above average because we were very happy with the selection. The Japanese a la carte was WAY too salty and we didn’t enjoy it much but the others were fantastic. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful resort

We loved our stay at this hotel. It's a small resort but the staff and service was amazing! Our room was upstairs in the main lobby, plain jane but ok. Food is alright. There is always something you can find to eat. My favorite is the omelette in the morning but the pancakes are delicious as well. The beach was fantastic!!!! I would definitely return at this resort.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Iberostar Lindo Resort

The resort was lovely. The restaurants were amazing except the food wasn't as hot temperature wise as it should be. The people were amazing and helpful. The pools were terrific and the entertainment was top class. I would definitely go back again.
