Sol Turquesa Beach: Awesome visit

Memories Resort is definitely a memory. It is a beautiful place to enjoy the warm sunshine, and the beautiful countryside of Holguin, Cuba. It isn't perfect by any means, but there are many, many wonderful staff willing to do their best to help make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The food was great - lots of selection, great pasta bar, omelette station, etc... There was lots for the vegetarians as well. There were plenty of locations to get drinks from and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. It was a fantastic vacation. Location was great for a couple of day trips to surrounding areas as well. Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort

It was a nice resort. Clean. Alot of stairs not good for someone with mobility issues. No problems getting chairs at the beach or pool. The food was ok at the buffet (what I expected for cuba). We went to the Italian and Romantic restaurants. They were delicious!! (Better than buffet) Room was nice. The A/C worked great! The staff was lovely. Not much for entertainment in the evenings. Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing

The food wasn’t the best and the wifi sucked but the stay, hospitality, Pools, beach, and everything else was amazing !!!!! This was a family resort so a lot of children. Lobby was always full. Would go back again !

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice place, lots of steps

The grounds are really well kept here, the staff is quite good with our best experience being at the pool bar, beach, and a la cartes. Food comes and goes, some days the snack bar had more selection than others. The room was clean and air conditioning worked great, but they are off to the sides of everything. Be prepared to walk here, nothing is close. It is a large resort with a lot of stairs.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: TRULY A BEAUTIFUL TRIP

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this hotel/trip. Maybe my only complaint is that it was over 30 degrees and sunny EVERY day. What a horrible thing! :) The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and fridge was stalked everyday with beer and pop. Many times people say the food is not very good in Cuba but NOT at this place. Variety and flavor galore. And you can always find something at the buffet. Never found that they ran out of anything. The drinks...WOW! as many as you like and they were never cheap on the shots. The beach...what to say about that....it was spectacular. Turquois green water and soft white sand. Plenty of lounge chairs for everyone. Came home with a lovely tan and well rested. If you have a chance to go, I would highly recommend this place.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good for families

Our visit to Fiesta Americana was our first family all-inclusive vacation. Thre were many positives to the resort - the pools and beach were lovely, and there were many options for places to find food and drinks. It is a very large resort and our building (47) was quite far from everything, but we planned ahead and packed everything we needed for the day. Room: our room was fine, but some nights there were no outdoor lights on the buildings for some reason. The resort also had no water fo [... read more]r about 4-6 hours one of the afternoon/evenings. Activities: The kids especially loved the catamaran and pedal boats on the beach, and the calm shallow water was great for them. We only attended one evening show, the water ballet show, and it was very impressive. We did not use the kids club, it didn't seem as though anyone was ever there. Food: The buffet restaurant has somewhat limited choices but the food does seem fresh and properly kept and stored. The smaller breakfast buffet, which is located in the seafood restaurant but has as many choices as the main buffet, is much calmer and quieter. The omelettes there are awesome. The Italian a la carte has fabulous pizza for lunch, and a great dinner as well, but with 5 courses, the meal takes longer than most kids will have the patience for. We also tried the Asian and Mexican a la carte restaurants and they were also both pretty good. The taco bar is also great for lunch. We tried to go to the snack bar for lunch one day, but they had run out of food. The beach snack bar has lunch as well, but the 'hamburger' was a little suspect. It might have been made out of actual ham? Drinks: There are many bars to get drinks, and lots of options at all of them. The mojitos at the swim up bar closer to the beach are awesome! A few special staff really added to our experience: Cesar, the animacion coordinator, made a particularly great impression on the kids - he always made sure to say hi and see how we were doing. Eduardo, the bartender in the cigar bar, makes amazing pina coladas. Luis on the beach took us on a fantastic catamaran ride. All in all, as far as Cubas resorts go, I think this one was pretty good.

Playa Costa Verde: Delightful first visit to Cuba!

Our first visit to Cuba was wonderful! The pool was clean, the buffet had a reasonable selection to choose from, and the staff was friendly and polite. If we needed anything, our requests were met quickly. We are already planning our next visit and would gladly return to this resort. The rooms are a bit tired/dated, but they are clean and serve their purpose. Be sure to spend some quality time on the beautiful beach - the snorkeling is fantastic!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Memories Holguin: Just Don’t.

Food: worst - actually the absolute worst we’ve had in all of Cuba - from top to bottom - not NuCubies: we expected bland, unflavoured Cuban resort offerings, but in this resort, guests daily faceplant the repulsive, the strange and the unexpected: fried, oiled, grisly, unidentifiable... primordial root vegetables, animal organs and byproducts of a Soylent Green worriable nature .. daily - and consistently - crusted brown burgers that are pulsatingly bright red raw just a millimeter unde [... read more]rneath the crust... knarly, gristly, boney knots of lamb, pork goat and possibly apatosaur... mystery organs... “desserts” - shaped and coloured differently, yet tasting exactly the same non-taste. As well as the No’s: no fresh bananas, no milk, no limes, no fresh coffee. Breads: strange husks instead of bread at lunch and supper. This leads to bread hoardings when appearing. No buns - EVER - on burgers or hotdogs in all beach and snack restos. You’ll never get a mojito here.. or a cubata.. or a fresh daiquiri, or a pina colada. Acidic, harsh house wine that forced us to buy better out-Cuba bottle. Room locations: so far from the resort centre we weren’t sure we were still in Cuba. Mobility concerns: you must call for a golf cart cab. So, so many stairs.. please be sure you are either under 70 or genetically enhanced - there are, as counted - 10 steps from beach level to kid pool, 20 more to piss (bar) pool, 50 more to 3rd level pool, 30 more to top level pool, 20 more or ramp steps up to main level area. All kidding aside, this place is seriously a step exercise each day. View: none / absolutely / no rooms will have an ocean view / NONE. Sewage smells everywhere. So many other negative impressions, not many positives. Please:: read slowly and seriously negative reviews, these reviews are accurate. Most importantly: these impressions are from the highest peak season - the Canadian March Break - when services are generally at the best. The absolute only thing positive is the staff here - we never met a staff member who was not polite, professional and engaging. While we would never, ever stay here again, the on-site staff that we had any interaction with - are a true credit to the Cuban character.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Clean, but worn out.

Our first impression was walking down the hall of our block. The ceiling tiles were stained and falling down in the hall and inside the room entrance. The room doors had been painted white over blue so the colour blue was bleeding through and looked terrible. The bathroom had 1970s tile still installed with many corners broken off. The tub had many layers of caulking around it as if no one ever removed the old before installing new. We were on the ground floor an the patio door wouldn't lock [... read more] because the metal opening for the latch was literally worn away from 25 years of use. Curtain rods were falling down and light fixtures were stained and broken. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean which made the week bearable. First night at the buffet was late and it was not good. It was dirty and several roaches were running around the floor. The food was not good at all. The a la carte restaurants made the food situation okay. Pools were nice and the beach was perfect. The grounds and sports facilities were not kept up. Water sports equipment was good and the guides on the catamarans were great. Overall we had a good time but pushing this as a 4 star is a false representation.

Playa Costa Verde: Great relaxing vacation

The hotel is perfect for families, has a good entertainment program and friendly staff. There were no issues with food, the room or the noise level, it was just a bit unfortunate that we did not get access to a room to shower after we checked out and our flight was six hours later.

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquera review, Holguin, Cuba

This was our 6th trip to Cuba but our first fist to Holguin, Playa Paquera. We were impressed with the Lobby and facilities which not only were extensive, but would be a suitable location in the event of poor weather in the off season. Numerous photo ops included various items such as a full size gondola, a train engine out front and a coffee bar in the shape of a train, as well. The piano bar is first rate, as is their Theatre productions, that had surprisingly good talent. Buffet is adequate but freshly prepared eggs and sticking to the fish or chicken is your best best. They also had two pig roasts that had long line ups as a testimonial to the taste. Unlike many of the resorts in Veradero, they have not restricted an excessive area to the VIP section, which often made finding a chair by the pool difficult, in the quest for additional profits. There’s a nice chicken place on the boulevard that had a line up daily. Let’s face it, the beach is not as great in Veradero, so if you are there for the beach, this is not the place for you. That said the beach is nice. We did not overly tip with a daily tip for the cleaning of the room and for our wake up capacino. We also brought baseball caps for the ground crew which was much appreciated. We would recommend the tour to Holguin at the end of your stay which included a trip to the city for some shopping, an included lunch, VIP and advanced check in and a few hours in their all inclusive lounge. There’s a surprising number of British tourists and we were told it was a nine hour flight. We plan on returning next year.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Ok, but have gotten more for less $ in the past

This resort is situated on a beautiful stretch of beach and had the most friendly and accommodating staff. We had a room in the tropical section and it was clean and had everything we needed, the bed was ok but the pillows are very thin. Our biggest issue came with the food, we are not foodies and have always been budget travelers so we are used to mediocre food. We’ve stayed at 2.5 stars for less money with more food choices and better quality food than this. To start not all the restaurants  [... read more]ect. the site says they have to offer are open, and when I say they serve the same stuff every single day I’m not exaggerating. The food served on day one repeated for each day after that, same beef ordered in the al la cart was the same as the buffet but not cut up, right down to the sauce, the soup was beef noodle the entire week and the snack bars had only cheese sandwiches, hamburger and fries. Which is fine but you get sick of it fast. Never any pizza and not one single morsel of chicken anywhere on the resort the whole time :-O (not even in al la carts) it’s always my go too when the stinky fish turns me off.. not this time. We ended up going to the little shopping place next door a few times for better choices when we started to get hangry. I’d likely not come back here again unless I got it for a real cheap price to factor in eating off the resort in order to be content. You don’t realize how important a decent meal is when traveling until you don’t have one.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Decent resort

First night there our toilet broke , they tried fixing it but it still leaked the entire week we were there. I must say they had lots of issues while we were there but staff was very friendly. It is a nice resort but it is definitely getting run down. By fourth day definitely had trouble with walking up and down all the stairs there. Brisas Guardalavaca: Brisas

This is a great resort. Not fancy but it has good restaurants, you won’t go hungry there is enough choice to find something you like. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You don’t have to tip them to get good service. The beach is clean and you don’t get harassed. The rooms are decent, clean and out belongs are never touched.

Brisas Covarrubias: Wonderfull resort

I paid 1,000 Canadian for 1 week and it was worth every penny. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is startimg to show it's age but everything was always clean, neat and tidy. The beach is amazing. If you like a bloody mary Julio makes an amazing one. I enjoyed seeing the Cuban families especially the children who where guests at the resort. They were always friendly and polite. The only down side is the distance from the airport to the resort over 2 hours.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another great stay!

This was my third time at this hotel and won't be my last. Gorgeous beaches and resort is nice too if you view it through the idea "I'm in Cuba." Grounds were clean, room was clean, and had hot water. It is not for people looking to be entertained. This is a resort to relax at. There are parties available on and around the resort but nothing extravagant. Buffet food was ok. Saw a lot of the same things everyday but I ate and was full. Went to one a la carte, I wasn't impressed and didnt try an [... read more]other. Staff was mostly friendly. They warm up to you as they see you more often. I stayed in a tropical room. Was close to everything. They had even given us an extra bed without asking. Tropical room was a bit rough but air worked and slept great. Can't wait for next holiday.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Memories Holguin

buffet was bad. sometimes no bread, no bacon, no eggs. One type of cheese, same boring pasta every time, limited fresh fruit. Sports bar seldom had food they were supposed to have. Beach snack shack had one guy cooking, gathering dishes, cleaning. just steady supply of gross burger patties and hot dogs....no buns. Had a nice piece of plastic in a burger one day. a la carte dinners were fine. Front desk service frustrating. Under staffed, language barrier. Beach was kept clean in populated areas but walk any further and it looked like that's where they threw all their garbage. Rooms were clean. Had to keep asking for toilet paper. Had fun because of the group we were with, but would not go back.

Playa Costa Verde: Great resort

Rooms: we stayed in 4612 room which is a ground level. The rooms are nice and big, has fridge that gets filled with a big thing of water and two pops everyday. The beds are decent to sleep on and there is extra blankets in the closet. My only complaint about the rooms are the bathrooms. They were clean and doable but we always found our room smelling like fresh stool no matter if it wasn’t even used. Water was hot and pressure was great in the shower. There is one plug by the sink that is 110v outlet but we found it didn’t work. No plug in the room would work my straightener. There is a hair dyer there that works decently but takes time. Pool: the pool is where we spent most of our time as it was the most convenient and you could always find some shade. The swim up bar was great and easy to get a drink. Sometimes they had people walking around taking drink orders too. There is always entertainment by the pool like games, dancing, fashion shows etc. Victor was amazing and made sure we got involved with activities! Beach: We only spent about two day on the beach. It was so hard to find shade even if you went at 8 am! We found it to be too much just in the sun. There is lots of rocks when you first get in the water but once you get past that it’s sandy. Apparently they had a storm come through and mess up their beach a bit. There is volleyball and some activities by the beach. There is a bar right on the beach to the left but still a little bit of a walk depending where you sit. There is a nice restaurant by where you exchange your towels and the chicken is sooo good! Highly recommend it! Food: I’m a picky eater and struggled to find food. There is a 24/hr snack bar that has hot dogs and French fries which I lived off of. It’s typical Cuba food. Most people got pasta and meat for dinner. Breakfast there was usually eggs, hasbrowns, toast, fruit, crapes but no waffles or French toast or anything. The a la cartes were soooo good!!! Drinks: typical Cuba selection I found. During the day usually liquor and slushy drinks and night was screwdrivers. They arnt the best at making shots but not horrible. There are vendors in the lobby to buy things but also a market across the road to shop. This resort is about an hour from the airport but goes by pretty fast.

the hotel grounds were kept to perfection. flowers every where and very clean no trash. the food at the buffet was better than Ok. the food in the la a carte restruants was very good. the staff was friendly and helpful. the beaches and pools area very clean also. I was blown away by the value as per cost.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice!

Clean resort with very conscientious and friendly staff. Food was decent for Cuba. Beach was beautiful. Drinks were very average. Airport to resort was 1.5 hours. Our room overlooked the pool and could see the ocean as well. Our maid service was very good.
