Occidental Caribe: First family vacation

We stayed at the Barcelo Punta Cana in May 2014. This was our first family vacation ever so please keep this in mind when you read my review. When we arrived we were checked in quickly went to our room. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Our room (3314) was clean and modern. The grounds were clean and well maintained. There were always staff out cleaning and they were always friendly with us. The wait staff and bar staff were also very friendly. Th [... read more]e Entertainment crew kept us laughing especially mini me. We went to both pools but mostly stuck to the family /quiet pool with the kids. The beach was amazing loved. There were plenty of shady areas to sit under and they were never full. Overall we loved the resort as it wasn't to big was family friendly and clean. The only thing we didn't like was the vendors that are there a few times a week they were very pushy and didn't want to take no for an anwser. Good quality for the price.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Excellent get away

very nice and well kept resort. food was great, service great, weather was great. and entertainment was exceptional. except for the flying bugs in our room every night, we had a great time. bathroom was very clean. beds were a good night sleep.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Outstanding

Everything was as advertised. Grounds were exceptional. pools pristine and waterfront beyond compare. Food selection great variety. Staff very friendly and entertainment very good. Acces to resort a short distance from airport.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great Holiday

This was a great holiday. All the little details were looked after for us. The resort meet all our expectations. Although we decided not to spend the extra money for the adult only section, we were booked into an adult building near the beach. This turned out to be quite quiet and enjoyable. The room was very clean and the staff were most pleasant and accommodating. Although it is a large resort it never seemed crowed, either at mealtime or at the beach. The beach was clean and you could walk fo [... read more]r long distances if you so choose. There was always a wide variety of good food available to suit all ages at the buffets. To get your choice of a-la-cart restaurants you need to book them as soon as possible as they tend to fill up quickly.

Occidental Caribe: B e a u t i f u l

Amazing stay! Perfect location beautiful beach, great food breakfast is the best! Waves are massive but beautiful beach i suggest to do the carribean festival excursion! Amazing! Overall would recommend

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Classy spot

The Ambar was just as lovely as our friends had told us-beautiful beach-opportunity to buy things but no one hassling you to buy anything.Pretty well had to get up early to get a good spot on the beach-luckily our friends are early risers-not us! The food was excellent.Grounds and rooms, washrooms all very clean.Staff courteous, professional.Our room was large and beautifully decorated.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Relaxing vacation

This was a nice resort to just relax. The staff was friendly and attentive. The service was excellent. The restaurants were good but I expected more from a five star resort the beach is beautiful. The snorkeling right off the beach is amazing. No need to off the resort.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Unexpected great resort

We travel every winter to warm places, we have been to Puerto Plata in the past in 6 different hotels and expected a high level of comfort as this is the highest rated hotel in the area.We traveled with 3 other couples who had limited experience with all inclusives but own time shares in several US places, they all raved about the location, rooms, food, entertainment, everything was perfect and the best value for the money. Ancora Private Residence Yacht Club and Marina: Great resort with great staff....but quiet.

Beautiful rooms, lovely grounds. Amazing friendly staff. My kids want to go back to spend time with them! The man made pool is nice, the restaraunts were average only. We had a great price for our stay so i would easily say we had great value. Only negative would be if you were looking for a loud party atmosphere, which we weren't. It was perfect for us.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: not worth the money

grounds were ok,rooms are very sparse ,bathrooms/shower much to small once you are in you can barely turn around,you can totally forget trying to squeeze a second person in.The food is definitely not of 4 star quality in our estimation,so no we would not recommend this property.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: As expected

First impression..... Beautiful grounds. Layout of hotel was decent, easy too be around. Beautiful beach, but many vendors interrupting your day. Food was amazing with the best staff I have seen in a long time. Pool and daily entertainment was ok, get up early and layout your towel if you want a chair to lounge in. Nightly entertainment.... Due to the fact we had a room facing the town and a local bar who played musoc till 4am local time. Guest services was below par, found that if you were not a premium guest your chances of booking tours through them was slim to none. Thank god for an amazing and wonderful travel agent who booked all our excursions for us. Overall it was an above average trip with your normal ups and downs. I would recommend this hotel, and I will return there next year.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Vacation in the land of the sun

Resort was great, staff wonderful, beach was great for snorkelling although surf was rough and had a strong current. I would have liked to have seen lifeguards. Do not forget bug repellent as there were lots of Mosquitos and Sandfleas, I received some nasty bites which required a trip to the resort doctor. I guess the question ,"Would I return to this resort?", my answer.... In a heart beat! We had an awesome vacation, my complaint would be, even though it was 2 weeks, not long enough!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Good value

This resort is for couples who want to just relax and chill. It was exactly what we were looking for a good value. The rooms are large and new. The beach is excellent with lots of cabanas and shade trees. It is part of a huge golf resort that is just being developed and there are miles of roads for runners. The gym however is very small and limited. The best part of the resort is the service - absolutely outstanding. Food is good but not outstanding, but as I say excellent value. Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Great Resort

We visited the Royalton May 31-June 7th with our 20year old granddaughter. We love Punta Cana because of the beautiful beach. Resort was good, staff very friendly and helpful. No reservations required for dinners which is great. All the ala Carte were good as was the buffet. We visited the sister resort Memories Splash for the water park and their pools, we liked the pools at that resort better as it was not as crowded and quiet. We would recommend this resort as a great vacation place

Occidental Punta Cana: very good resort

Occsidental Grand Punta Cana Hotel. Greate location. Private Transat Beach. Lots of chairs. Nice clean resort. Very caring staff. Good food. Very safe resort Great variety of excursions Rooms were large but need some upgrading.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Not as good as 2010

This resort is extremely clean. The food selection was not as good as in 2010 when we spent 2 weeks there in January. One plus about going off season is that during the week we felt like we had the resort to ourselves but missed the fun of being there at peak season. My complaint is that on the week ends there are hundreds of local people. I know this is their country but they eat all the food, cut in line and some of them are down right rude.All in all we had a good time and it is the only reso [... read more]rt that we have gone to more than once and plan on returning. We met a very nice Dominican girl who tends the gift shop and became friends with her and Jenny's Jewellery shopkeeper.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good Time!

The resort was very clean. Grounds well kept. The rooms and beds comfortable. Really nice pool area. The beach was beautiful. A lot of local vendors trying to sell souvenirs but they were very friendly. Food Was good with lots of variety. The main complaint we had was that the staff were not very happy. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great stay

We stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada for 11 days in the beginning of may. It was a very nice stay, the staff are excellent at this resort. The resort is well taking care of, the food was good.I would recommend this resort for price you can't beat it.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Wonderful Vacation!

A beautiful, relaxing, and quiet kid-free zone. Excellent vacation spot, I hope to return in the future. I would have rated 5 stars for service, however when we arrived the resort beach towels were not in our room. It took several days to get them. Many promises were made to have them 'in our room in 10 minutes' that didn't happen. We were glad that we had brought a couple of our own for 'extras'. Otherwise the service was wonderful.

Ocean Sand Golf and Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort....book It Now!

First impression of thIS place is WOW beautiful....We were in unit 7 and the rooms are so comfortable and lovely. It is modern and the A/C worked amazing ? The selection of restaurants was awesome they have them set up in a row like your in a little village. We attended a wedding which was set p lovely and went off witout a hitch. The food is great with loads of selection that it would be impossible to starve!! Unfortunely the only complaint I have is it was cut short cause I slipped and hurt my back adn had to fly home. Money will not be wasted at this resort I assure you.
