Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great for kids - but resort tries to take advantag
We were there in Februrary - I have 4 kids -they loved it. Friendly staff, great pools and slides. The hotel tried to overcharge us when my husband, who was in a car accident, couldn't come with us the last minute. They wanted to charge us an extra $5000 for the exact same room we reserved 10 months ago if he did not come (even if all 5 of us in the rest of the family still came as planned) , or if another person came in his place. This is the one reason I will not return to this resort. They tr [... read more]
Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Great Resort!
This was our first time staying at this resort. We purchased the Royal club package and upgraded to a studio suite upon arrival. We were treated like royalty. Food, room, entertainment, beach and staff were excellent. A special thanks to Jorge in the beach area. His service was always accompanied with a smile:) If you are looking for a smaller more intimate resort I would suggest the Occidental Grand Nuevo!
Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta: Paradise Village
Excellent hotel, people were wonderful, food was great, can't remember all names of staff but they were all excellent. Enjoyed the beautiful beach and the nice long walks and all the entertainment and theme nights.
Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful resort.
Lovely grounds, maid service was great especially Alma, rooms clean, beach and pool area was great. Always found something to eat.food could have been a lot warmer.lots of activity around pool area all day. Very enjoyable.
Friendly Fun Vallarta: Nice place, staff were very friendly
Smaller all inclusive, lobby and reception recently updated, rooms could use some attention. Staff very helpful and friendly. Some good entertainment, one night was a marachi band in the lobby area, another night was a violinist, both good. Kitchen staff put on a beautiful food display/buffet on beach. Had one odd event: upon arrival, had two bottles of water and a bag of chips in room. next day no water, Asked maid and got some. The next day no water. This is after leaving what we though was a [... read more]
Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Parents beware
The first night I was there l sat outside waiting for my two grandsons to go to sleep, I got bitten with hundreds of mosquito bites. I looked like I had some dread disease on my legs for the entire trip. DO not let them give you a room on the first floor facing the mangrove Swamp. Also, there was a huge building close by that is LOUD LOUD LOUD and smells of diesel. I complained about all of this twice to the main desk. They just shrugged their shoulders and said they were full and could not chan [... read more]
Secrets Aura Cozumel: Secrets aura Cozumel
The room smelt musty. Small bugs everyday all over the bathroom sink. Various areas of the resort smelt like raw sewage. No umbrellas on the beach. The beach was very rocky. The best thing about this resort was the food The Bordeaux was excellent.
Barcelo Huatulco: Second Time Even Better!
Hotel was very nice, food was excellent. All staff were always smiling and worked very hard to please. House keeping staff kept the room very clean and came in at night and turned down our sheets and left chocolates on our beds. Nice touch!
Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Good Quality for the Price
There is alot of walking at this resort. There were shuttles but they were hard find. The buffet was pretty good food and a good selection. The resort was clean. The staff was fabulous. There were alot of people there but it didn't feel crowded and we could always find a chaise at the beach or pool. Our only complaints were that we couldn't get into any a la carte restaurants until 9pm and that was a little late. Also, the bed was not so comfortable. We otherwise had a good time there.
Playacar Palace: The Best
After dozens of years travelling, Playacar Palace has proven to be the best hotel experience my wife and I have encountered. From the room service, to the beach/ pool servers, to the restaurant(s) staff, the grounds and food/ dining our time here was tops!
Crown Paradise Club: good resort for kids
Our kids were 10 and 8 some of the events that they had for the kids were for younger kids, the kids liked that they could get their own specialty drinks. The food was ok at the buffet the a la cart were all delish they were good with our kids. Make sure you book a reservation early or you will get stuck at 830 for dinner.
Riu Cancun: Excellent resort!
This was our first trip to Mexico and we were thrilled with the resort. Everything met/exceeded expectations. Loved the authentic Mexican feel of the resort and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Las Palmas by the Sea: Exactly what we were looking for
After reading some reviews we were prepared to have to compromise with a lot of things. That was unnecessary, the staff are top notch at this resort and while some things are a bit tired looking the character shines through. We were very happy with the value we paid for. I wasn't booking the Ritz so I didn't expect the Ritz. If you do, this is not your place to stay. Lots of options to keep everyone happy here. The location is great and the people were nice. Beds are certainly on the firm side b [... read more]
Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: grand occidental
Everything was perfect-staff, food, drinks, service and the beach. We especially liked the size of the resort with everything so close together. We never encountered a line up nor had to wait on service.
Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Beautiful resort
The reception area is open, breezy and very welcoming. The hallways to the rooms have open windows so you can enjoy the views on the walk to your room - yes, there are elevators between floors. The rooms themselves are wonderful with comfortable beds, a/c and ceiling fans. The cleaning staff keep everything very clean. I have only one small complaint about the bathroom -- the shaving mirror is set for a 6 foot tall male. I'm a 5 foot female with bad eyesight and found it very difficult putting o [... read more]
Hard Rock Hotel Cancun: Rockin' on at the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun!
We picked this resort partly because it was easy to get to Cancun from Hamilton, Ontario. Cancun and hotel both awesome. Did two tours (a zip-line sinkhole tour and a sunset sail) both great. Fabulous vacation!
Secrets Aura Cozumel: Enjoyed people I was with more than the resort!
It was nice but upgrades not worth the money and a la carte restaurants very skimpy on the portion sizes. I would prefer Melia where I went 2years ago in Cozumel and it included golf and for less money.
Blue Bay Club Los Angeles Locos: Fantastic staff!!!
This is the third time we have stayed at this resort and we were treated like kings!! They were there for our every need, they have even improved it since the hurricane and replaced all the mattresses!
Grand Oasis Sens: Find another hotel!
The ONLY reason for 2 stars is the Mexican and Italian restaurant had good food and the hotel grounds are well laid out and very attractive. Also the beach and pool are great- no drink service though- you have to go to the bar to get your own drinks. Those are the only saving graces for this hotel! Service was HORRIBLE! The rooms didn't have blankets ( we literally had to call 3 times) and they charge for Wifi (it's 2016- if you consider yourself a 5 star then wifi should be complimentary). All [... read more]
Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Very much enjoyed our stay here!
This is our third stay stay at an Iberostar resort (also stayed in Punta Cana twice) and it lived up to our high expectations. The staff were beyond excellent, from the concierges in 10 block (Candy and her associates), to the dining staff, and everyone from maids to gardeners was always quick to greet everyone. I have to mention especially the fab animation team -- who work so tirelessly to talk to guests, put on fun activities and participate in the nightly shows as well -- and the outside pat [... read more]
