Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Fun vacation

Very nice hotel, lots to see and do. Give it 3 stars as the buffet restaurants were not the cleanest. Lots of dishes and utensils had old food stuck to it. Night time shows and entertainment were very fun and well designed.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Resort

This is a wonderfully relaxing resort that fulfilled all of our expectations. Our check in was quick and we were in our room within minutes of arriving. We travelled with Air Transat Preferred club and really appreciated the extras that came with this package. There was a fruit plate and bottle of rum in the room upon arrival and the mini bar was always fully stocked. We really never lacked for anything. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food at the main buffet had lots of selection and we  [... read more]enjoyed our meals very much. We especially enjoyed the two a la cartes we went to which were The Oriental and The Steakhouse. The grounds at this resort are so pretty and very well maintained. The staff are always cleaning and keeping everything as spotless as possible. The beach is absolutely beautiful and if even a little seaweed came onto the beach it was immediately cleaned up. As with many resorts there are vendors who will attempt to try to sell their products but they were always respectful and took no for an answer. What we enjoyed the most about this resort was the friendliness of all the staff. From the waiters, to the maids and also the grounds cleaning staff we were always greeted with a smile and hello. Everyone was so helpful and went out of their way to make our stay relaxing. We look toward to our next visit to this resort.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great family resort! Something for everyone

The hotel itself was great! The service was average. Grounds were clean! Food was great! No one got sick! Love all the animals everywhere! Wish room service was included. The Excaret park is a must-see. Definitely recommended getting an unlimited pass. Too much to do there. Need at least three days to see it all!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Don't go there!

Not a place we would go to again! The food was typical for Cuba, not a big variety, but pretty good really. Rooms were kept clean, but had gaping space under and around the door so bugs and frogs and geko's could come in,( we placed a towel across the bottom each night) the air conditioner didn't work very well, most days there was no water for showering and if there was, it was too hot to use! 1 bottle of water was all you got for the week in your fridge and we had to ask for that. There after, [... read more] it needed to be filled at the bar, if they had water that day. 1 of the pools was closed most of the week for some maintainence , the other was dirty.The staff though, was very friendly and tried to be helpful . The beach was lovely, although very shallow water for a long long way out. I didn't like that there were no sun shelters on the beach. We've been to Cuba 8 times in the past few years, we love it, but this was our worst experience so far

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Amazing!

Everything was beautiful...very boutique atmosphere..LOVED it. Everything was perfect and exactly what we expect form a 5 plus star resort. The rooms were comfy and clean, the food was simply to die for...we have been unable to match the food anywhere else! GO!

Allegro Cozumel: Occidental Allegro Cozumel Mexico

Actual hotel and lobby very clean but room was very uncomfortable. Beds were hard as a rock. Showers did not have consistent hot water. Also the room was very small. Beach was very wavy. Hard to swim and sand was very coarse.

Starfish Montehabana: complete let down

only thing nice were the friendly staff and the cuteness of the apartment but things were falling apart. this was our first time to Cuba and the nexus tour guide who was suppose to meet us at the next hotel at 1:30 PM the next day after our arrival was a no show which did not help our stay all that much as most of the staff could not speak a word of English. and the local free bus into Havana did not work most of the week.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great!!!

The hotel was wonderful. Food was excellent!!! Would definitely go back. Beach was beautiful but could use more sitting. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Occidental Grand was super clean and lots of activities to enjoy.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Major explosion on site

The hotel was nice the grounds are well-kept. Wild life was cool to see and snorkeling in the inlet was awesome the explosion in the swim club wasn't so cool first night we got there. explosion blew apart the building and blew out the windows on all three floors of two units. Happened at 6:00 am so no one was hurt. Didn't sleep good for the remaining days there.

Occidental Punta Cana: nice resort less of a partyy

I'd say overall I had a pretty fantastic time the spa was pretty good less activity during the day tho aka little competitions and stuff but the resort was really nice recommend for a quieter vacation

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort

This was a clean resort, the food was really good and the restaurants a la carte was excellent (but when they say the dress code for men are long pants, they should stick to that; no short). Nice big pool with hot tubs .Staff is really nice. The only thing for us was that there was no beach.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Beach was beautiful

We stayed in the main hotel. It is pretty run down needs some major tlc. Our air conditioning did work and we had hot water the whole time. Which apparently has been an issue with other travelers. The buffet was ok. You could always find something to eat. The snack bars offered hot dogs/ hamburgers/ fries. They said they offered pizza but the three times we asked for it they said they were out. The week we stayed apparently was their local march break so the resort was full of locals. We saw two [... read more] shows. The first was ok depiction of the history of how Cuba was founded. The second show was mortifying. My eleven year old was in the audience and one skit depicted a cheating woman with an angry husband, the rest was the staff of the hotel doing a bunch of very confusing actions. They could use a lot more staff to keep the grounds/ pool/ hotel clean. There were always empty cups and cigarette butts all over the pool area and on the beach. The beach club is a hidden gem where the rooms are new and the pool bar is great. Only one a la carte was offered and we were promised 3. The price was very cheap so I knew going there to not expect too much. The resor is shutting down at the end of the season for some much needed renovations. I would not go back unless all of the issues were resolved.

Allegro Cozumel: Very Relaxing Resort!

The grounds were really well maintained. The food was good. Bacon for breakfast everyday would have been a plus. We had to ask for it because it was not accessible and most days told no. A bar fridge in the room fully stocked would have made our stay more enjoyable. The water and soda were warm and no beer.

Allegro Playacar: Perfect Location

Great Location, Perfect Beach, good food, Manager was not accomodating at all. Travelling with another relative, put them three buildings away from us, ridiculous!! and I had highly recommended this resort as I had been twice before. will NOT go back now. This trip ruined it for me. People on my bus got the room next to me, why not my relative? Seriously ridiculous, will not be going back. Skipped cleaning my room 2 days, never replenished my mini fridge.

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: Fantastic

The resort was very clean and the staff was unbelievable. It does need a bit of updating, but I would definitely stay there again. The food was fantastic. Lots to see and do. I look forward to returning.

Occidental Punta Cana: good resort

This is a good place. Food was good. Staff was good. The beach was good. The room was clean but is out dated. The lobby was good. I would give this places a solid rating of a three and a half star. I liked it.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Had a fantastic time....

The hotel/resort was beautiful, clean, well maintained and the food was fantastic.. However the resort is huge and there is a possibility that you can get stuck in buildings 11 or 12 which is very far from everything and you might not get a balcony or a view.... Tons of wildlife and a must see without having to go to the Excharet park but that is another wonderful experience in itself!!! If you are looking for a beach this is not your resort but the pools make up for the lack there of... we had  [... read more]a blast and are easy to please and therefor rate this hotel at 4 out of 5....

Allegro Cozumel: Nice property but the food could be better

The hotel and grounds are clean and well kept. The room had some issues although not worth mentioning. The beach was great although it was really annoying to find most of the lounges reserved with towels before 7am. Quite often nobody showed up to use them until late morning if at all. This is not the fault of the resort, but of our fellow travelers. The pools were nice and kept very clean. The big disappointment was the food. At  [... read more]breakfast I saw someone ask for bacon and it was delivered to their table, but it wasn't offered at the buffet, only hot dogs. Breakfast usually looked like the night before's left overs and usually cold. The Asian and Mexican a la carte's were very good. The staff work hard and try to look after everyone's needs but there aren't enough of them.

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: Fabulous Holiday

My husband and I had an amazing vacation in Costa Rica. The resort was fine by our accounts. The grounds were clean and green even at the peak of the dry season. The food was fantastic. The staff were all very friendly. The monkeys at the resort were priceless. The water was beautiful and warm. Our excursions were easy to book. From booking the vacation to getting our flights to coming home again, we never experienced any problems.

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: Not the best!

Although the hotel was nice enough, the staff were not there to serve. The beach was alright but the guys selling the time shares were annoying and approached me everytime I went to the beach. The food was delicious, the drinks sucked! The other huge issue with this resort is the fact that they let the locals in for the weekend on a pass. They filled up the pool, kids swimming in diapers everywhere and everyone at that point catered to the locals and spoke only in Spanish.
