Rex St Lucian: Wonderful resort

The hotel is just the right size if you're going for relaxation. The food was a single buffet but that's all you needed. The food was great. The food was always covered, which I really appreciated. No one touching it with their dirty hands or sneezing on things. The beach was great. We walked it every day. Oh and the pool was nice and warm from the sun, but the hot tub was ICE cold because it was in the shade:)...The entertainment was fun, especially country singer and the people that stuck flam [... read more]es in their mouth...OMG...I have nothing but praise for the hotel.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Good Value Hotel

This hotel was what I expected for the price and the fact that it was listed as a 3 star. The beach was good and the same beach shared with the Sandles Resort right next door. Very windy when we were there so snorkelling wasn't an option as the water had no visibility. As previous reviews said the staff were wonderful and the food was good. The hotel is run down and does need many repairs. Any complaints we did have, ie: no hot water, were addressed immediately.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Rex Resorts - Halcyon Cove

Very poorly managed. Staff are not friendly, no smiles, no how are you etc... I met only 2 of the staff that were friendly. Rooms are old but clean. Food was good. The a la carte restaurant is not worth it as you have to pay for 80% of what is on the menu. The beach was nice but small, lots of sand fleas and only one small pool. Came back with bites all over my legs. Heard that they are being bought out by Sandals. It needs an upgrade bad.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Very beautiful beach.

The staff was very freindly, and helpful. The hotel was clean. Enjoyed their home made soups very much. We had wonderful weather. Enjoyed our day trip of Granenda. Learning about the spices was fun. Seeing the rum factory was very interesting .

Rex St Lucian: Great location

Situated on a lovely beach ,walking distance to shops , Banks & restaurants . We had beach front room which was spacious and clean. Lovely balcony view! Food was ok . Plenty of variety during our 7 day stay .Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Great place for non smokers . Easy to take local bus to Castries for market . Also close to pigeon island, gros islet friday night street party and rainforest adventures .

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great family vacation

Hotel a little runned down but very clean. Great staff (reception, server, bar, cleaning, etc). Great location on the end of the bay. Quiet area and good for babies, small kids and elderly. Food was fresh and good.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

That's resort look very nice, service was excelent, beach looking good, food not to bad, room was clean, people of the resort very freandly. We love night show. I will recommended this resort to others persons.

Rex St Lucian: Great resort and location!

The location of this hotel is the best on the beach!!!! Beach one of the best on the island!!!! Check in is quick and smooth- rum punch while you wait. Hotel- is in need of a refurbishment/ face lift- but this does not take away from the house keeping staff who clean daily and replace all linens! Or just stay on hotel property under the shade of a palm tree or palapas. Pool is small, but clean and always busy. Dining in restaurant over the sea makes for a spectacular view!! Food is tasty and plentiful- though not a huge selection- no one goes hungry. Lots of local dishes and produce! At times, the lines for the hot grill get conjested- wait- you are on vacation- so all is not lost- the line subsides and you get your made to order dish :) Entertainment at night was quite good- and the audience really seemed to respond- never dull- but always over in good time - so you could always get a good nights sleep. Staff are friendly- and the longer you are there and make the effort- they really open up and acknowledge you. Even the local residents are friendly and love to chat and make conversation. The people of the island are so friendly- it is a great experience to just walk freely into town and feel welcome! There are several banks and lots of stores to visit. A wonderful marina- with many friendly faces. Local folk inviting you to ' hear them play'. NOTE- buy your local goods from the supermarkets NOT the airport- prices are much cheaper and in EC $$ vs American $$. All in all, the value is truly amazing- beach- one of the nicest- view- spectacular- food- tasty- people- friendly!!!

Rex St Lucian: Awesome beach

While our stay at the Rex Saint Lucian was great, the resort itself is very old and dated and in need of a facelift, which I believe is going to be done. The food was amazing and I am a very picky eater. I didn't really care for the al la cart restaurant but again I'm a picky eater. The beach is the best beach we have ever been too. Lots of scenery with the boats out in the bay. The booze left lots to be desired so we went out and bought our own which says it all. The nightly entertainment was v [... read more]ery lame. The pool was a joke and you could never get a chair there so we spent everyday at the beach, which is something we have never done before but again the beach was awesome. Overall we made the best of it all. I would definitely go back to Saint Lucia but not to this resort.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Rex Resorts- Rex Grenadian

The resort was on a beautiful ocean front piece of property that is well maintained. The rooms were kept very clean at all times. The meals were quite tasty as the local produce of the island is used.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Lovely setting

The hotel is situated on a nice piece of property. The beach is pretty with lots of shade. The rooms are basic but clean and adequate. My husband found the beds very uncomfortable....very hard. We had a beachfront ground floor room, ideal for beach access. The drinks were very tasty, but the food became boring and predictable. We enjoyed breakfast but lunch and dinner were nothing to look forward to. The a la carte was better in our opinion. This is a quiet hotel, so we relaxed and did a lot of  [... read more]reading.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great bang for your buck!

Right on the same beach as Sandles, ocean and beach was amazing. Simple and clean older hotel, quiet perfect for R&R. Food was simple, but tasty. Modest variety in food, Engish influence, With tea time between 4-5. I would suggest a snack bar, be added for in between meal times, and one complementary bottle of water in room. I would definitely go back.

We loved our stay at the Rex. This was our second time and I must say they have improved. The new manager has a lot to do with it. We will return. One of the best beach you will ever find. If you like a small resort with no Belles and Whistles look no further

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great Staff...but resort has seen better days

The hotel is set on beautiful beach. The staff are warm and friendly. However the whole place needs some maintenance. The rooms are clean but not well maintained...so the shower leaks, there's no light bulb in the socket...there's wires sticking out of the walls and the whole place needs a paint job. But despite the worn furnishings we enjoyed our stay because the staff was warm and welcoming. The food was great. And the place was clean.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Halcyon Cove by REX - Resort Report from the USA

We have returned from our warm winter week in Antigua. This year we selected the REX – Halcyon Cove Resort for this. It was our third time to this resort. Each time we wonder if there will be a next time for in 2008 it looked like it needed an extreme makeover as well in 2000. The problem is REX offers this get away as a cost cutting savings, thus it doesn’t have the resources to do what the Sandals can do to make it a beautiful looking resort. Including the General Manager – Riaan – that seemed to be everywhere and there never was a task he wasn’t willing to do. We were amazed how all the staff was really engaged in making our stay so pleasant. Part of our visit we give away two pewter pint tankards to the staff at the resort. We place the name of everyone that helps make our stay. Every time a person does something for us I would add their name again and again. On the last evening we place all the names in a hat and have two lucky people receive the pewter pints. It was amazing to see the enthusiasm to have another name added to the vast collection. The lucky winners this year was Tiphany (server) and Dolston (bartender). There was one bartender – Kai that had at least 17 names in the hat but unfortunately her name wasn’t drawn on Saturday evening. The meals were good but needed to have a little more diversity in the offerings. Some examples are more fruit in the morning - pineapple was only available one morning and prunes were only offered twice after my wife had asked. The cheese they offered was not a cheddar but more on the Velveeta style that I hadn’t had since I was a young lad. I could never understand why onions or scallions had to be placed on the salad at lunch and dinner when they had a bowl of them offered in the salad bar as well. It took several days to get our allergy problems resolved and after that the dinners went very well including the barbeque on Saturday evening for both my wife and myself. There was always something we could work around our issues for breakfast and lunch. Our first room had issues with the electricity and we were moved to another one across the resort. That one had the electric outlet available for the UK hair dryer and curling iron my wife had purchased for these resorts. The room was very spacious but had issues with the water being brown (iron) and not very hot. Also I had to have someone return several times to fix the safe, so I could get in it again. The 4 digit code seemed to get lost and cause it to lock until someone came to over ride it. As return REX customers – three times to the Halcyon Cove in Antigua and four times to the REX Grenadian and once to the REX St. Lucian we would think there might be some special thing to acknowledge that we had chose this resort chain for our winter vacations. At some of the REXs there was a variety of ways they thanked use for selecting them. As a place to go and not break the bank, I would recommend it. The valued for the dollars spent is there. Just remember it is like a Red Rood Inn/Holiday Inn that needs some work done not a Hilton or Ritz Carlton.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Get what you pay for

The food was amazing, alcohol not so. Most staff friendly, bartenders acted like we were bothering them. I would say we are good tippers. We stopped tipping after the first day. We don't expect fast service. Just a little respect. We are hard working People. A lot of rooms were empty. The outside lights were turned off. It was dark area heading back to our room. Beautiful views

Well kept grounds, good food, clean rooms. Amazing beach and pools! Friendly staff and lots of activities. I would definitely return. We were there during the Christmas holidays and it was absolutely great!

Resort was clean and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful . Food was excellent they work hard to ensure our experience was a good one. And it was a great experience.we also liked the fact that you could go off the resort unsupervised and do sightseeing or walk around St. John's .its a beautiful island that caters to all tourist and the people are very welcoming .

Pristine grounds, awesome view and landscape. Service inconsistent and sometimes slow. Not all drinks are included in the all inclusive. Limited food choices at the Buffet, but tasty. Staff pleasant and friendly.
