Secrets Huatulco: Tired Resort

This resort is advertised as 5 star, unfortunately, it doesn't live up to that billing. The weather is Huatulco was great, 90 deg F every day. Therefore the pool and ocean are necessities. There was a black flag every day at the beach, apparently due to crocodiles being in the area, thus making the ocean a "swim at your own risk" deal. The beach sand is very coarse, making footwear necessary. That left the pool. Which I would describe as an embarrasment to the Secrets brand. There w [... read more]ere many tiles missing in the pool, that in itself, not really a big deal, there was mould every where around the pool. This is unacceptable. Tiles are a major fix, but mould is just lack of maimtenance. The Buffet was small, and had more of a caffeteria atmosphere than a resort Buffet. The food was adequate to get you to the next meal. Castaways was good for breakfast, however I went for supper one night, ordered the rib eye steak,medium rare, very hard to cut, even harder to eat. Not good enough. The ambience was good , as were the staff. The French, and Italian restaurant food was passable, however, unlike other Secrets Resorts that I have been to, no atmosphere/ decor , bright lights and again like caffeteria style. Unfortunate. The style and location of the resort is good. It is rumored to be getting renovated this spring ( 2025) that, and a management review would be welcomed. In closing, the weather made the trip for me. The small issues that kept showing up means that I would rate this resort no better than a 4 star. A fellow traveller rated it a 3 star. After renovations, this will be back to a 5 star in my opinion.

Secrets Huatulco has ocean views from all of the rooms, unique designs, Reservations are not required for the alert restaurants, Food was very good, Drinks were mostly well made and the staff are very friendly.

Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: So So Stay at Secrets

This hotel was not as expected from a service or grounds expectation. But the Mexican sun was still enjoyable. The good: - excellent service and higher end drinks at Preferred Club Lounge - pool chairs are very comfortable & towels were great - food at some of the restaurants was excellent (Italian, French, dinner at Rosewater). The Not As Expected: - beach was very short, chair cushions had seen better days, limited shade, lots of sea weed - getting a chair around the pool was nex [... read more]t to impossible unless you wanted to get up at 6am (do not believe otherwise) -service from the start was very uneven, good sometimes, non existent the next (and yes we tipped!) - rooms were showing some wear & daily cleaning was again very uneven (one day they took the tip and walked back out, leaving dirty towels and dishes) - cannot make reservations for dinner, so you could wait up to 1.5 hrs for a table despite being a preferred guest - service in restaurants was again uneven - sometimes you got water, sometimes not, same with timely service and even cutlery - all hit or miss - no main longe area where guests can gather to chat at night on either Secrets or Breathless side It wasn’t a terrible experience, we always found something to eat, and some staff were excellent but overall not the Secrets experience I have had several times in the past.

Secrets Royal Beach: Great Resorr

The hotel is well laid out, it is well maintained, the staff working in all areas are great and go out of their way to assist you. We had some challenges with our first room, and when it was brought forwarded the desk staff ( Eddie) remedied the situation for us. This is our 7th time to a Secrets resort and again we were not disappointed by the food, all restaurants were excellent! You have to be an early bird if you want a pool lounger starting at 6am.

Secrets Royal Beach: Beautiful resort

We truly enjoyed our stay with amazing grounds, beautiful scenery, and loved the options of having a quiet pool which was beautiful and the larger more social pool. Lady was an amazing server always smiling and very attentive. She knew what we wanted and ensured we were taken care of. Lady went above and noyons to help and make our experience amazing. We encountered an issue when we first arrived we were given a room in the “second” building where we found mold, air conditioning didn’t work, fridge didn’t work and excess moisture in the room. We complained and they were able to provide us a change which resulted in a positive situation.

Amazing resort. We have been to many secrets resorts and this is likely our favourite. Food was excellent, rooms/pools were beautiful. Entertainment team was great (incl. Daniela). The preferred club pool on the roof was our favorite. Overall amazing experience; would love to come back

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Good choice

I absolutely love the care and attention to details from the very first minute you get in this hotel. Service is amazing. NO all inclusive bracelet!! It’s my favourite part. And the turndown service ?‍♀️it was beyond amazing. Now, they should inform us that not all restaurants are open every night for dinner. Yes no reservations but LONG LINES AND VERY SLOW SERVICE. Dinner takes more than 2 h. If you are not in line by 17:30 you won’t eat until 8 pm at least. I would like the buffet option for [... read more] dinner as well so you don’t won’t wonder around hungry. Also I found all food very salty!!! And look warm not hot at lunch. That needs to improve. Great coffee options and drinks. 20/20! Air Transat plain are terrible. No personal space. We had major issue with the transfer to the hotel very rude air Transat rep in Mexico, waiting forever to get to the car that was waiting in front of us with no sign and the rep refused to assist, saying that the car is not there. Never had such a problem before. I won’t fly with air Transat again.

Secrets Wild Orchid: Not a "wow" factor

The people that worked at the resort were mostly friendly. There were no "wow" factor when we got there, especially being over Christmas and New Year. No one new nor did their website know which and what restaurant were open and when. For Christmas and New Year, they wanted you to buy a bottle of wine, which was running at over $200 US to have dinner at one of the 2 open restaurants. The buffet was open for those two evenings, however, the buffet was never open for dinner, only for breakfast [... read more] until 11 am, then lunch started at 12:30. In the meantime, only one other restaurant was open for lunch. However, it was always marked as closed on their QR scanned code. For New Year's eve, there was a special event, however, no one spoke about it and once we found out in the evening, the cost to enter was over $700 US. Outrageous. Towels on chairs to reserve.... people would grab 4 towels for 4 chairs by the pool, then grab another 4 towels for the beach area. Well, the beach area is very small and does not accommodate all the people that are at the 3 resorts. I thought this was a small resort, however, the other 2 would come and take loungers and eat at Secrets Wild Orchid. The beach is rocky. The pool plastic glasses were rewashed by hand in dirty water. The music was played over and over the same tunes. The entertainment was held by the employees. I would have thought for the price this resort was for, the entertainment would have been professional but not. It wasn't what we expected for the price we paid. Someone in their room close to ours had a drome flying over everyone, near the pool and over the beach area. We mentioned it to the hotel and they said it was legit in Jamaica. If you google it, it is not unless of certain rules and regulations. I would rate it 3 stars at best.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Very Disappointing Experience - will not return

Please don't waste your money on this resort . After spending $7500 for 7 days i feel sooo ripped off. Upon check in there was no orientation of any kind - we were left to find everything aside from our room on our own. The ocean was very unfriendly with lots of sharp rocks the entire length of the beach so no wading into the ocean without tripping on slippery rocks /coral. Their "preferred status" is an absolute rip off. It wasn't offered by Trip Central and after reading their reviews and inquiring was told it didn't include much and that it would be cheaper if i inquired upon arrival . This is did to find out it was an additional USD150/room per night which include the use of Dreams, Sunscape and Secrets, an additional restaurant at Secrets, lounge area and a small pool. Nothing worth that kind of money. there were no arm bands to indicate you were preferred and no one really told us what was preferred and what wasn't. So after 3 days of using a swim up bar in one pool ,on our way back to the room from a day at the beach, we were questioned by a young gentlemen about how was our stay , room etc so far . He proceeded to ask our room number and promptly told us to move as we weren't on his preferred list ! I'm sure glad i didn't pay extra for preferred as there was no way to tell who was what and where. The buffet was the worst i have ever see in 25 years of travelling to the Caribbean! At breakfast very little fruit only one kind of meet and if you wanted bacon (which was never out ) you had to ask every morning and they only brought it to you there was never any out on the buffet . The bread was wonder bread, no quality high grain breads ( which i would expect at a 3 star but not at a 5 star that's over $1000/night ?? Choices and selection at every meal on the buffet very small and limited and not 5 star quality . The washrooms accessible from the beach area smelt so much that sewer that they were hard to bare going into I have been many times to all inclusives for NY celebrations but NEVER have i had to pay extra to be a part of the celebrations. The least expensive seats for a buffet dinner and some entertainment were USD 400 per couple and went as high as $1000 per couple for a front row. this was all staged on the beach and the buffet was set out on the beach . The food was decent however after that food sat on the beach from 7pm to approx 10 pm it was packaged up and we found the exact same food , leftovers, on the buffet the next day at lunch and then again at dinner !!! Some of which had been fresh seafood ............. Booze was not premium either which you would expect to find some at a 5 star the entrie resort is very tired - the rooms are ok and you could tell they'd been Reno'd not that long ago but still tired. There was other things but i think you get the idea . Considering all my partner and i wanted to do was take a quiet 7 days on a great beach in a bit of a luxury setting and rest and this is what we got . We made the best of it ............................. the only redeeming thing were the staff - they were polite and would go out of their way to assist you with what ever .. that said they were enough for us to ever consider going back there or to any other secrets for that matter. As a Hyatt owned establishment they should be ashamed of this offering for this kind of money

Lovely resort offering a relaxing getaway. The staff go out of their way to make your stay here an enjoyable experience, starting from the moment you arrive you will be treated wonderfully. Rooms and resort are modern and clean. Food is very good with many choices and options available - staff are very concerned of any food allergies you may have and very polite and welcoming. Coco Cafe was a favorite of ours, offering specialty coffees, snacks, desserts, ice cream, and the service was amaz [... read more]ing. Our butlers were so helpful (Rafa & Stelian) always checking in with us and giving us the details of activities that were available for that day. If you wanted a quiet day or a day filled with activity the choice was yours. I would recommend this resort and will look forward to going there again for our next vacation.

Secrets Vallarta Bay: Great food, great service

My wife, my 20 something daughter, her boyfriend and I stayed at secrets the week before Christmas 2024. The service was great at the market cafe and all of the specialty restaurants. The food was also terrific. Our room and the hotel was clean and I felt the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. I did encounter some guests that were not as pleased as us, but I find staff is great if you treat them with respect and appreciation.

Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres: A-1 Resort

This was a beautiful resort with great staff, great food, clean and modern all in the middle of tropical trees and a beautiful ocean. The quality of the food was amazing entertainment was great as well. Was always something to do see or eat and lots of places to relax.

Secrets Huatulco: Huatulco

plants and birds are beautiful, can not beat the weather and location . The time share people are unsavory . Drinks and food were great, this is our 4th trip here. will come again for the location and locals.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Excellente!

I just returned from a week at Secrets Tides. I watched so many videos, scoured the FB group, and read so many reviews that by the time I arrived I was already so familiar with the place! The resort is beautiful, and very well laid out. I stayed for one week in a Preferred Club Swim Up which was perfect. I love the option to spend time at the pools and meet new people or enjoy some alone time at my swim-up whenever I want. Hedral was my butler, and he was great! He is super courteous and makes [... read more] sure you have whatever you need to make your stay enjoyable. If you need anything, just ask. The animation team is awesome! Shout out to Skinny Girl; she is super fun! Robely at the Preferred Club check-in and lounges will always greet you with a welcoming smile. When the staff asks, “how are you today”, they truly care! Miguel and Sujeidy at the Reef building Preferred Club lounge are awesome. The 3 pools are fabulous. There’s the main pool, the quiet pool (near the Manatees bar) and the Preferred pool. The preferred pool was crazy busy most days. The towel game here is real. Another advantage to having a swim-up! Having said that, the quiet pool was great – beautiful, peaceful and lots of lounge chair availability. The food is good. Michelin star? No. But does anyone go to a tropical All-Inclusive for the food? You will not go hungry and there are a variety of options at all restaurants. If you’re not happy with your food selection, order something else. So much discussion about whether the preferred club is worth it, and I truly believe it’s simply personal preference. I always opt for it because it’s my preference. However, if you are on the fence about spending the extra money, I say this: if you have never done it, I don’t think you will miss it. The non-preferred pools are gorgeous. The non-preferred swim-up rooms look spectacular. The Rendezvous lobby bar is fab and always buzzing with a great vibe. The breakfast and lunch options at the Market Café buffet are plentiful. If an additional restaurant option for breakfast and lunch, upgraded alcohol and a room closer to the ocean are priorities, then you will want to book Preferred Club. If those are not deal breakers, I honestly don’t think you’ll miss out. I believe that once you book preferred, you may not go back – but, again, that is just my opinion. Overall, I had a wonderful trip and recommend this resort.

Secrets Huatulco: Great December Holiday

We stayed for 2 weeks and we had a 1 bedroom swim out suite .We had a wonderful time. The food was really good. It has really improved. The grounds were well manicured and our swim out pool was cleaned every day. The bars and bar staff were excellent. They had many evening buffets and shows with a meal. There was always something to do. The spa was great. We will be going back again next year!

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Excellent resort

The food was great. Lots of restaurants and you didn't need to make reservations. Check-in was super quick. Everything is new and clean. Very safe. Beach was awesome. I would highly recommend. Gym was well equipped. The quiet pool was just that - quiet. There are ceiling speakers in the room so you can play your own music. They thought of everything. It is about 50 minutes from the airport.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: PERFECTION

You truly get what you pay for here. Some may find the price expensive but I promise you it’s worth it. If you find “ a deal”, it’s because there’s a problem with the report, PERIOD. Secrets Tides is brand new, luxurious, clean and incredibly beautiful. ALL staff are absolutely genuine in every single interaction. I will return here because nothing else could compare. HIGHLY recommend a swim up suite.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Good First Time at Adults Only

The hotel was nice, rooms were well decorated. Did not like the sales pitch upon arrival AT ALL, the mismatched scents in the bath (differing products) and getting food poisoning on last day from steakhouse. The grounds were beautiful. Staff were very friendly. Very confusing as this is supposed to be no-tip but most guests seemed to be tipping for better service. His attentive communication throughout the day was perfect for us, though those who prefer more face-to-face interaction should let their butler know their preference. The resort’s attention to detail extended to the cleanliness and condition of all amenities, from the preferred bathrooms with hand towels to the general maintenance of the property. The entertainment, though we often missed the shows due to late dinners, seemed spectacular from what we observed. Housekeeping deserves special mention for their meticulous attention to our room, tidying up and preparing our bed every evening—an extra touch that truly enhanced our stay. The only downside of our trip was the encounter with UBV, which we advise fellow travelers to avoid. The time-consuming presentation and subsequent loss of $600 USD were the only blemishes on an otherwise perfect vacation. Despite this minor hiccup, Secrets Tides Punta Cana Resort delivered an exceptional experience that we are eager to repeat. The combination of beautiful surroundings, outstanding service, and luxurious amenities make this a destination we highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.
