Melia Costa Rey: Beautiful Resort

A wonderful resort. Staff cannot do enough for the guest, always happy with a smile on their face. Entertainment staff work so hard and long hours. So many repeat guests . Clean beach and easy entry into the ocean. Will be back for sure.

Melia Las Americas: Always a Favourite!

Another fantastic week at Las Americas! We upgraded our experience to the Level this time and it was amazing. Great service, stunning 2 floor room and wonderful extra restaurants to attend. The beach is always amazing and never disappoints. The new outdoor space is spectacular. It's always good to see that they are constantly improving the place. Already looking forward to next year!

Sol Palmeras: The perfect holiday!

We traveled as a group of 12 family and friends. We had the perfect time! The staff are so friendly and amazing servers. Food was fantastic! So many choices of places and good to eat. The beach is breathtaking. The pool is beautiful too. Every person in our group had the best time! Thanks again everybody! We will be back!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort!!

This was our fourth trip to the Melia Cayo Coco and we have never been disappointed. The resort is always clean and in good repair. The staff are great, always smiling and happy to see you. The food is plentiful at the buffet and the meals at the al a carts were awesome!! The beach is beyond amazing!!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Recent Vacation

We were at this property a week after hurricane Melissa. The resort is charming but is in need of certain renovations (nothing to do with the hurricane). Rooms are dated but clean, AC works, hot water readily available and bed was comfortable. The drawers on some of the dressers do not work and the safe is old and can be temperamental. Food was decent, plenty of it but fresh fresh fruit and vegetables were limited. Snack bar had the best coffee. Service was hit or miss, but it was only a w [... read more]eek after the hurricane, so there could have been staffing shortages. Beach is rocky as you first approach, but the further you walk the softer it becomes. We brought water shoes and did not use them. Beach washrooms have no door handles on the inside, making it a challenge to exit. Pools are cleaned every morning and are pristine, however, there is a serious lack of loungers poolside. The loungers are old and some are broken and should be replaced (could have been caused by the hurricane). Pathway lighting could be improved, many do not work making it difficult to navigate at night. Despite the no-smoking signs, people smoke everywhere. In the lobby, at the beach, around the pool and in the pool. Overall it was a pleasant vacation despite a few hiccups, we would probably return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: I had a very enjoyable stay.

Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Any problems were resolved quickly. There was a lack of fresh fruits and vegetables, but I've been to Cuba enough times to know that is to be expected, so it didn't affect my holiday.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: 2nd Visit was every bit as good as the 1st!!

We went with the expectation that it was off season, so there would be less staff, less food, just not quite the same vibe as in April. That couldn't have been farther from the truth. We were on the Royal side, and as usual we were pampered. Food selection at all the a la cartes were great. The Italian alone offered between 7 and 9 choices for your main course, with at least 4 appetizer options, making it our go to choice for dinner. The ground are always so well kept and this trip was no exception. We can't wait to return in April!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort

We spent a great week at the CMC from November 8 to 19. This was our fourth visit to this resort and, like the first three times, everything lived up to our expectations.We introduced this resort this week with friends that are experienced travelers to the Caribbean and they loved it as much as we did. The site is really beautiful, the gardens are well maintained and the hotel is exemplary cleanliness. The buffet food is plentiful, tasty and quite varied. No issues with supply or power issues. the food at all the alacarts was fantastic. We are definitely going to return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Not a 5 Cuban Stars resort!! Way to outdated...not enjoyable.

Very outdated resort that's for sure. Lots of things to update (so old and used that it starts to bother). They might blame it on the latest Melissa storm, but nothing to do with that. We arrived 8 days after the storm, and the few trees that were damaged by the storm were long cleaned by the crew. Here are the things that require immediate attention: 1. Room furniture requires attention. All doors of the cabinets won't close from our room. Extreme old and used furniture. 2. Lots of abandoned  [... read more]gardens and water fountains - (ex. main one by the lounge & buffet stage, all middle fountains, all side walks, plants and vegetation need massive attention). 3. The front lobby area looks depressing. The A la Carte restaurant, located in the lobby, is abandoned, and the left side end pond is abandoned with no water. 4. The main beach area was full of sea vegetation, and only one guy was working to clean it using a small pull-behind basket!! We complained to the lobby, and after 2 days (lost from our vacation), 3 more guys were assigned to help (same technique) 5. The main buffet area needs immediate attention. Since it is not an enclosed area, lots of black birds are present, landing and stealing food from the buffet. Very, very unsanitary.. since we noticed lots of birds' droppings. The crew doesn't seem to be bothered about it. Also, since is an open space and not enclosed, it is very hot and humid. 6. Many of the light fixtures are damaged (especially the concrete enclosure "lamps" by the side of the pathways or poll area) and need immediate attention. 7. The pathway along the ridge by the sea is mostly abandoned. Also, lots of digging (electrical or pipes) and left daily, with lots of garbage from the workers. Empty paper caps, leftover damage removed parts...not a good view, for sure... The list can go on, but I can say that I don't recommend it. It was our first time here for us, and we will never return here.

Sol Caribe Beach: Beautiful resort

We had great stay at Sol Caribe Beach. The resort is located on the most beautiful part of Varadero beach and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were always beach hats available and the loungers are comfortable. Rooms were clean and the entire place is well maintained. The food was okay, mostly repetitive, but we.were always able to find something to satisfy our hunger. Melia Costa Rey: Melia Costa Rey Cayo Coco

I just returned from the most incredible couple of weeks in Cuba, and I had to share my gratitude! A massive thank you to the entire staff at the Meliá Costa Rey in Cayo Coco. From the moment I arrived, I was met with genuine smiles and exceptional service that made my stay truly unforgettable. The level of hospitality was outstanding, and I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into making guests feel so welcome. I want to give a special shout-out to: Levy, Claudia, Jenny, Bibi [... read more], Elaine, Eliania Rosemary, Nelson, Elvis, Yosiel, and Roberto the new GM of the resort, just to name a few for their cheerful service in the [Dining room/Lobby Bar/etc.] every day Most of all, Ronney Fernandez, my hermana for always going the extra mile from the moment I first met him when it was called the Pullman. Over the last 6/7 years Ronney and I have always kept it touch on a regular basis. I've gotten to know his family with open arms. This visit which is now called the Melia Costa Rey was special. It was considered a surprise visit to see Ronney and meet his family in person. Ronney as usual did not disappoint. From the moment he realized that I had arrived at the resort, even though off for a few days, he immediately jumped into his jeep and drove an hour and some to the resort from Moron where he and his family live. Got to spend some time in Moron with Ronney and his family and was welcomed into their home as family. Memories that will last forever ... Beyond the resort, the hospitality from the people of Cuba in general was heartwarming. The warmth, kindness, and spirit I encountered everywhere I went truly made the trip special. Melia Cayo Coco: A True Paradise

This was my third vacation here and I love it more and more every time I travel here. The resort is super Clean and laid out beautifully. Good variety of food at the buffet and 3 a la cartes to dine at as well. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and make you feel at home! The beach is to die for!!! Rooms are very spacious and well equipped with very comfortable beds and pillows. Stocked mini fridge with water, pop and beer daily. I will be returning again for my 4th visit in February!

Melia Las Dunas: Wonderful resort!

This hotel was absolutely amazing the lobby was so beautiful and the staff were also very nice! The food was good many options! The pool and beach were amazing. The rooms were definitely not the best i’ve seen but all you do is sleep on your room anyway so it worked for me! Had a great experience here and I would definitely recommend!

Melia Varadero: Great resort

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and well kept. The view of the ocean from the patio area outside the lounge bar is amazing, It is at a higher elevation. The beach is stunning and you can go out a fair distance without the water being over your head. The two pools are very nice with one being slightly elevated above the other. Julio was very informative about what was going on at the resort and got us set up on the pickleball court. He even filled in when we were a player short. Julio is remarkable, a great sports player and a very good representative and advocate for the Melia Varadero. I was in one of newly renovated rooms. It was extremely clean, the air conditioning worked and the mattress very comfortable. Your wrist ban has a small metal tag with a chip that opens your room door. It also opens and closes your room safe. The breakfast always had plenty of fruit, omelettes, and a variety of pastries, There are some good deli meats and cheeses if you want to make a breakfast sandwich. The serving staff line up and greet you and clap when they open up for the days breakfast. For lunch, I chose to go to the beach bar for a burger or the snack bar for a burger and fries. Dinner also had a very good selection. For Cuba, the food at this resort was better than other Cuban resorts I have been to. There were no shortages, the week I went. You may want to consider the Level which is a higher cost package, having more options. I have been told this and will try it on my next trip to see if it is worth the extra cost. The overall service by all staff was very good, and above all, they were friendly. What sets them apart from other resorts is their response time to deal with issues that can happen. I had a issue with my safe not opening and the repair person was at my room within 15 minutes. When I had a clogged drain the repair person was also within 15 minutes. At other resorts you don't know when they are going to show up ! The only negative thing I can say is from a Health and Safety issue. The entertainment was good but they played the music too loud . This entertainment is located just outside the lounge bar where you can have a drink and watch sports. Some people always think louder is better and get offended if you politely ask them to turn it down. The music was distorted, as it was so loud. Staff would not turn it down when I politely asked. I left as I did not want hearing damage. I was not the only one. Dance and entertainment is important part of Cuban culture and I understand that, but it was also important to many Canadians whom wanted to watch the world series. Perhaps Management at the resort reading this review could consider relocation or at the least turning the volume of music down, so it is not distorted and the music can be appreciated !!!! Management, please take the time to go on line and read about decibel levels to protect the hearing of your employees and customers. Once hearing damage happens it cannot be reversed! You can invest in a decibel meter or use common sense and turn it down! I booked through Monique Kwirant of Trip Central, whom provided exceptional service. Monique even called me to see how my trip was. Monique is very personable and articulate. She was very efficient and a great asset to the Trip Central Team. I have never been to a Melia resort before and they seem to have a higher standard. Management appears to be doing a good job as their employees appeared happy, they provided good service and there was a team concept. It is well maintained! I would suggest you go to this resort as it offers great service and value for your money.

Sol Cayo Coco: Small .. amazing resort

Even though was off season .. with low capacity .. we love it! It’s very cozy-small and works for us .. rooms are large and beds are very comfortable and new ..had an amazing room with breath taking view .. in resort everything is close by .. rooms,pool,teatar ,beach .. clean and well kept .. but mostly.. people (staff) and the beach are exceptional .. welcoming and friendly !! Will be back for sure

Melia Las Americas: Good beach, food, people

Adults only hotel. Middle of Varadero Peninsula. Right at the golf course. Shopping mall near by. Really really good beach. Very clean hotel. Food is solid, been to this hotel several times and the consistent food quality helps our decision to return. Evening entertainment was usually live music and performers. Once or twice a week there was a beach party. Large 900+ square foot suites available in the level section, some with two bathrooms.

Melia Varadero: Amazing resort!

We’ve stayed at Meliá Varadero several times and keep coming back for a reason! The staff are amazing — friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The buffet offers plenty of variety with delicious meats, fish, and sides, and the desserts are to die for — big compliments to the pastry chef! The grill restaurant served the best paella and lobster we’ve ever had. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are renovated, and the atmosphere is simply perfect. Melia Las Americas: If golf is your priority then this is the place to stay!!

Always keep in mind that you are in Cuba and not Mexico, DR or Jamaica. Resorts are limited by government regulations as to what they can import or what they can provide at their resort. Therefore, there are not the varieties of foods, beer and liquors that are available elsewhere. The rooms are tiny and the plumbing is primative. Elevators are extremely tiny (4 adults will fill them) and there are only 2 elevators that are extremely slow. The buffet is adequate. Not a lot of variety but enough  [... read more]to keep even the fussiest eater satisfied. I believe there are only 4 bars at the resort. The Lobby bar (closes at 11pm.), the cafeteria bar is open all the time and the beach and pool bars which open at 9am. The golf course is a 3 minute walk from the resort to the Pro Shop and you can store your clubs there so no need to carry them back and forth. Golf is included in your cost but you must pay $44USD per person for the golf cart which is mandatory. All in all it was great value for the money and a lot better than what I was expecting. I will definitely be going back.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Simply WOW

Everything about the Luna y Mares was AMAZING, Esmeralda Beach and the staff most of all. The buffet was good and well stocked, the bars had many drink options and the "À la carte" restaurants were wonderful (I need the recipe for that cuban bean soup!). The gardens are beautiful and grounds extremely well kept. The rooms are clean and spacious. All in all, even if my luggage was delayed for 5 days (nothing to do with the resort), it was an amazing stay and we will definately be going back.
