Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing Resort

We just got back from a week at Heavens. I NEVER write reviews but I have to say this was a great vacation. The resort is small, very clean, the room was excellent, the food was good but it was the staff that exceeded all expectations. Jay and Mikeson beside the towel exchange were great. A huge shout out to the animation team especially Aladdin. Also, Hector the Protector on the beach offers great excursions at great prices. We will definitely be back!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Some good, some not so good

The hotel grounds and location are wonderful. Some improvement is needed for the check in process, it was very slow. Also service in the buffet was very slow, need more staff or better training. Red wine was not drinkable.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Not good at all

The resort is bad, and the food is awful. They just want to sell you the time sharing with a new name (Pay over 67000$ and become a Viva club member!) Just don't go to that place. I don't recommend it at all.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Amazing Resort

Very nice adult only resort- beautiful beach, lots of beach chairs and shade- rooms were very comfortable, comfy bed, lots of hot water, A/C , nice balcony We really enjoyed the food at the fusion and seafood restaurants. We used the gym everyday and good equipment and well maintained- yoga and acquafit every day We really loved the layout of this resort as close to ocean and pool and not to big. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Week in the sun

Loved this hotel. Staff were amazing. Food at buffet was typical. Restaurants were good. Rooms were nice and fridge stocked daily. Entertainment was good . Beach was amazing. Loved the dogs and cats roaming the resort. Was upset there was an injured cat but unable to get help from staff. It disappeared so assume they took it away.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: The VH Gran Ventana was a great experience

Our family had a great vacation. The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make you feel at home and welcome. The food was very good, the rooms were very comfortable and clean and the beach and pool atmosphere were perfect. The hotel had great amenities but still felt small and quiet. I can’t say e ouch good things an out this place. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: March 2 wk. vacation

This was our 4th time at the Tangerine. They made a lot of positive renovations since our last visit. It’s a good place for couples and families, a nice pool for all ages, beautiful beach to walk, walking distance to Cabarete. The ocean waves are big, fun for teenagers and adults to body surf. You must keep an eye on kids playing in the ocean. Staff kept close watch on the surf. The buffet was very busy during Spring Break. The food was good. They have 3 restaurants available for dining with r [... read more]eservations. The rooms were comfortable. We walked to Cabarete several times for lunch on the beach or a beverage and shopping. There’s a lot of kite surfers and plenty of places to take lessons. The plus for me was the beach walking, relaxing at the beach and proximity to Cabarete on the beach. I also recommend checking out the Cabarete Coffee Company near the resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good

The resort was a lot smaller than the pictures showed. Also it said adults only and there were a few kids. The food was ok. It was very clean. The serves were kind. The grounds were clean but the plants did not look healthy.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Not a 4 1/2 * Resort

Mini bar only has 1 SMALL bottle of water per person per day. So it’s a mini fridge not a mini bar. We asked for more water but were told NO outright. We ended up buying our water. Very very small resort. Food tasted good but selection was very limited. Desserts were awful. Only 3 kinds of fruits offered. Same ones everyday. Toiletries are a luxury I guess so bring your own. Rooms are spacious but outdated. AC was loud and constantly acting up. Beach was small and full of seaweed so we went to n [... read more]eighbouring resorts and used their beach. A la carte restaurants were good. Service staff were great. Pool needs chlorine and a good clean.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Very nice resort

This resort was very clean. The service staff were friendly and helpful. The activities were interesting. We would like to thank the entertainment staff for their hospitality especially Alladin, Izzy, Valentina and Gaby. They always interacted with us and kept us entertained. Also our maid Natalia she helped us with a clean room and good service. All in all we would return to this resort and recommend it to our friends. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great stay at Viva Heavens

Hotel was way nicer than I expected. Pictures did not do it justice. Room was basic, but hotel staff were great especially the wait staff and entertainment crew. Shout out to Aladdin, Issa and Valentina!! They were wonderful and very talented. Would come back for sure.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Amazing Resort!

The grounds are well kept and beautiful…the rooms were very clean and housekeeping was great! Amazing beach with lots of waves! The food was excellent , lots of variety. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Good first All-Inclusive trip !

Very small resort but that was perfect for our family. The wind is amazing because it was so hot when we were there so it made it nice to do things. Locals are extremely friendly and felt safe leaving the resort. Our room was clean but in a bad location - above the kitchen so it smelt not so good. If you get room 3309 or 3308 - ask for a new room. Overall for our first trip it was a good beginner vacation. I would give it 3.5/5. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Overall Nice Resort But Needs Some Attention to Details

Grounds are very pretty and well-maintained. Pleasantly surprised and pleased that there were no bugs considering all the lush vegetation surrounding the grounds. Pool area is lovely, clean and close to everything. It's a smaller resort, so most of the restaurants, buffet, cafe and main bar are within walking distance of rooms, lobby and pool. The beach was also really nice. There were very few vendors so there was not a constant barrage of people trying to sell. Also convenient is that there is a shopping plaza about 3 mins away, walking. You can get souvenirs, beach wear, little snacks, extra drinks, water in the little shops. Entertainment team was really good - they tried very hard to get participants to join the games. There were some very nice activities throughout the week: Canadian Day, International Women's Day, Coconut Water Day - different treats and drinks offered. Some improvements required: Dining The food at the buffet was, for the most part, very good, although sometimes repetitive, especially breakfast. One has to remember that these islands don't always receive or grow a large variety of products, so the repetition makes sense. They get creative with what they have. We suggest more variety in spreads though. For breakfast, the only spread for toast is butter. There should be some jam, peanut butter, honey, anything other than plain butter. On a positive note, the buffet restaurant was also open 11pm - 7am for snacks. This is a great idea because the shows end pretty late and one is often ready for a little snack before bed. There are only 4 specialty restaurants. We went to the Dominican and Mexican ones and were not really impressed. We cancelled our reservation for the fusion blend one and stuck to the buffet, where the food was much better with more choices. The snack/lunch restaurant by the beach was large but didn't have as much selection. The choices offered were still good though. Water The hotel provides 3 small bottles of water daily. Considering the tap water is not drinkable, 3 little bottles is nothing when you have to brush your teeth, rinse, wash retainers, etc. And this is for 2 people. Definitely not enough water for more than 2. We had to ask for an extra bottle every night. Eventually, on the 3rd day, we bought a large bottle of water at the shopping plaza which allowed us enough to take care of our necessities much better. Definitely need to improve this situation, because you don't want to ingest even a little bit of the tap water. Pool Area Pool lounge chairs are so-so. The cushions slip down when you're just sitting on the chairs. This was really annoying!! Hotel should really look at replacing these. Beds/Pillows Beds are comfortable, but the pillows are HORRIBLE!. May as well not have any as they flatten to pancakes. Our necks were quite sore by the end of the week. Entertainment Although the entertainment was very good, there were often delays getting started. We missed the last night's show that was supposed to start at 9:45. It was 10:15 and nothing had yet started and we needed to get up early for our flight, so we left. It seems that 9:45 is a suggestion; show starts closer to 10. This makes for an extremely long day in the heat for the animation team; this is very unfair and almost abusive. The whole "animation team" policy needs to be reviewed. Perhaps have one team for part of the day and another team for the latter part of the day. No one should have to work a 14-15 hr day every day (apparently, they get a day off every 15 days). Not acceptable. Cleanliness of Rooms Overall, our room was done fairly well every day, however the shower was definitely not cleaned because we saw the same things in the same spot on the shower floor every day all week. We also had to leave a note for the attendant to refill the however soap dispenser mid-stay, meaning she wasn't checking regularly. Transportation To/From Airport The drive/driver, promptness were fine, however the little bus is downright awful. There is a narrow aisle in the middle which hardly fits a small child to get through. All the adults had issues getting to a seat using this aisle. Then every other seat had a huge bump on the floor, so not only was it challenging to get to a seat in the narrow aisle, but it was impossible to sit comfortably in all the seats with these bumps. Surely, something more comfortable could be offered.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!

The bad outweighs the good, it all started upon arrival at the front desk, the room was not ready so they said go get a drink at the bar, big line up. Then we tried to get beach towels to go for a swim, no beach towels, after complaining to many people 2 towels magically appeared . The room if finally ready @ 5pm , the room was nice i opened the mini fridge it was EMPTY. Went back to see why, bottom line is NO drinks get put in the fridge the entire stay !!! The entire week i met 4 english spe [... read more]aking people, this resort is Italian owned , 70 % were from Argentina and 30 % from Italy, NO Americans , NO Canadians, i met 1 man from Edmonton . The beach was nice, the water was clear, No drinks on the beach, no service. The mixed drinks were horrible and the bartenders did not know how to make many drinks. The beer was the crappy watered down draft, only in the a la carte restaurants could you get beer from a bottle. Avoid the Club Viva, its a scam, basically its a time share. Some of the workers were like zombies, especially in the La Rocca restaurant at breakfast, coffee was very slow to arrive so we had to help ourselves. To top it all off they encourage cell phone use, they put all apps on your phone so people walking around like zombies staring at their phones not watching where they are walking. I told them NO cell phone use for me ! There was NO real hotel manager visible to talk and complain to. It's the management and ownership being the problem ! Half way through i got sick from the food, i believe it was from breakfast as my travel partner did not get sick as i ate something different that day. It was clearly from bacteria , massive diarrhea , body aches and had to spend 1 day in the room to recover, i missed my snorkeling excursion because of that. Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Spend your money and time elsewhere

The first day set the tone. We were approached five times in three hours by staff attempting to convince us to attend a one hour meeting to learn about the Viva membership benefits (read : time share) It was as stressful as being on a used car lot with their hard sell tactics. By the fifth approach we were admittedly curt and spent the balance of the trip avoiding them and not making eye contact. It was relentless and not what you hope for when going on vacation to relax. Retreating to our room  [... read more]proved to be worse. It was old and outdated and our wing bordered the public beach beside the resort. We were unable to sit on the ocean view balcony that we paid a premium for because there was the music coming from the pool that blasted (almost) all day that competed with the blaring music coming from the public beach. Bring ear plugs if you like afternoon siestas. Never going back to a Wyndham property if they think this is okay to do to their guests.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellent Service

This was our Second Visit to Viva Heavens and it surpassed our first experience. The resort is small. The service is amazing. All the staff speak English (waiters, bar tenders, reception) and they are always smiling and happy to serve you. The food was much better and more varied this visit. Any small problem (glitchy door lock) was immediately dealt with. The resort is NOT ocean facing but accessed by a short walk along a lush path bordering a lagoon.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Good except for "Viva Club" Reps

We recently returned from a two week vacation at the Viva V Samana by Wyndham. Overall we enjoyed our our stay at the resort and would rate the resort at 4 star. For us we enjoy a quieter environment and this resort suited us perfectly. If you are looking for a lively environment this resort is not for you. Our room was comfortable and situated away from the lobby and the pool area, therefore we seldom had any noise from these areas. The food was ok, 3+. The buffet was repetitive but we were  [... read more]always able to find something. People with special dietary needs might have problems finding a variety. The Fusion al a carte was very good, the international food al a carte was ok at best and we did not try the sea food restaurant. The beach is excellent and a person could walk for a few miles. There is plenty of shade at the beach and we were always able to get chairs in the shade without getting up early to save a chair. There were also no vendors on the beach which was a nice change. The pool is nice, but shaded chairs around the pool are limited. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The animation team were great and tried to keep guests involved with various games and shows. The biggest negative for the resort are the reps trying to sell "Viva Club" memberships, which is basically a timeshare. We were pestered at least seven times from one rep alone and he would not quit until I told him I would contact security because of his harassment. We will probably not return to this resort because we enjoy seeing other places. However If you like a quiet environment this resort might suit you.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Great Resort

Really I have nothing negative to say about this resort it was amazing, clean, fun,staff were very nice, informative etc.... Well situated, food was good, the a la carte restaurants were super, the shows were amazing the talent of their staff for the nite shows were spectacular

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great holiday!

We just returned from the Viva Tangerine and absolutely loved it. We must have been in a renovated room, because I can’t even say the resort or our room was tired or dated. Alfredo checked us in, he was super friendly and helpful, which made checking in a breeze. The entertainment staff are there what seems like all day and night. They play a few games throughout the day, such as darts, dancing lessons and beach volleyball. In the evening, they put on a little show poolside, followed some  [... read more]nights by a full show in the theater. One night a week they do a silent dance party, which was an absolute blast. The food was quite good. A little disappointed in there being no bacon on the breakfast buffet the entire 10 days. The buffet is a little repetitive day to day, but overall, the food was delicious. We went to the Mexican twice, it was absolutely delicious! Try the Sopa Azteca…best tomato soup I’ve eaten in my life. We went to the Italian once, it was just ok. We did not try the Fusion. All the staff bust their butts to get the tables turned around…kudos to the Manager Ruth. The beach is big and beautiful. We had yellow flags 8 of the 10 days. The beach is ideal for kite surfers, and it’s fun to watch them. The other 2 days were red flags. The ocean is great for jumping the waves. If you want to sit and relax in water, you’ll have to use the pool. The pool could have been cleaner. The public washrooms were always clean and well stocked. We never had trouble getting a lounge chair at either the beach or pool. There are plenty of trees to offer shade. We didn’t have any issues with hot water in our rooms. We were in building 22. They only have one bar, but they have 5 or 6 bartenders on at a time…so we never waited more than 5 minutes at the bar. A couple of the days, they opened a small portable bar poolside. Our only comment is that Cabarete is quite far from all excursions. We spent 4 hours (each way!) to do the catamaran excursion, and 2.5 hours (each way) to do the buggy and monkey excursion. Also, they advertise as being 15-20 minutes from the airport, but it’s actually about 45 minutes. All in all, a great resort that we would definitely recommend.
