Excellence Punta Cana: Excellent Vacation At Excellence Punta Cana

Staff was very friendly, resort service excellent and grounds impeccable. Swim out rooms are not really swim out rooms in most of the resort. Our swim up was a swim close to the pool/on the same floor as the pool... but not a true swim up. Even with that misleading room information we enjoyed our trip and found that the resort had an amazing beach, great pools and good food.

Excellence Oyster Bay: Awesome Resort

This adults only resort is very private as it is situated at the end of a somewhat long peninsula with separate service and guest entrances to it from nearby Coopers Pen. Nobody was at or came around the resort to pressure sell time shares, souvenirs, goods, etc. Good selection of restaurants and apart from the Teppanyaki, no reservations are needed. In general, the food was plentiful and good but a bit of inconsistency with taste at any given restaurant (one night less than desirable and then a [... read more]nother night the same meal awesome). Service at the two restaurants on either side of the upper pool was consistently slow- the other restaurants had good service. The main pool is very close to the beach and sitting on the pool deck provides an awesome view of the sea. No limit on beach towels- grab them near the pool and once done return the used ones into nearby collection bins. Beach is narrow and fairly long and makes for a nice walk along its entire length as is goes around the peninsula tip and ends at the Mangrove. Very hot with the sun being super intense. Sunscreen is an absolute must! Breezy or windy every day which was nice to reduce the effect of the heat. All Staff were friendly and when asked, were always "excellent"! Daily entertainment in/around the pool was varied and good. Fat-Bike rides for a short tour into Coopers Pen are available once a day in the morning. The Entertainment team was fabulous and connected extremely well with the guests. Evening shows were very good and the venue for them is all inside and allowed for a good view of the performances. Some sound issues with annoying feedback and mics not working occurred from time to time. Was here for two weeks and my wife and I enjoyed it very much.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellence Punta Cana

In the past I visited many resorts situated in Caribbean, Cancune (Mexico). Excellence resort is very good. I like Excellence Punta Cana. Though it is little more expensive, but it deserves. Beach and pool area are very scenic.It was my second visit. This time I was not very happy about their room cleaning service. It would be good if hotel provide also buffet service in the evening. In conclusion, the Excellence Punta Cana is very good resort especially for seniors.

Excellence El Carmen: Lovely!

Excellence El Carmen is a very well maintained resort with beautiful grounds and very friendly and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a junior swim up suite which was quite nice but if we were to return we would look at booking an ocean front suite away from the entertainment as we found it quite loud in our room at night. Excellence El Carmen: A beautiful location

The hotel is new and modern, a little sterile in its appearance. The rooms and swim up pool are gorgeous, although the hallways are noisy and walls thin to sounds nearby. Staff need to speak quietly in the hallways early in the morning. Their carts need rubber wheels. The meals were good, but not as good as the Excellence in Mujeres Mexico. Excellence Playa Mujeres: Reliable resort for fussy travelers

This was our 3rd stay at an Excellence resort (twice at Playa Mujeres/ once at riviera maya). We have been to the Cancun region about 40 times and have stayed at an array of 5 star resorts. We have rarely returned to a resort so for us to return to the Excellence tells you everything. We prefer the playa Mujeres location- better beach, service, quality of food and newer. Overall, we were most impressed with the service. Typically service tends to diminish over time at resorts rather than improve [... read more] so we were pleasantly surprised to experience a marked improvement in this area from one visit to another (and it was already very good). The service from absolutely everyone (except one waiter at the Italian restaurant) at the resort was superb (and I don’t say that lightly). Our favourite restaurant was the French and we found ourselves returning every second night of a 9 night stay. The service is first class. Lobster House is lovely for an outdoor dinner given its proximity to the beach. The only disappointment was not being able to dine outside at the Italian restaurant. During the day, the indoor space is used for the buffet breakfast and is quite lifeless in the evening with no ambiance whatsoever and the food is not great. There is also a big step down in service at this restaurant. If one likes group themed dinners, this resort does a great job of putting on entertaining dinner events (note to corporate travel organizers: particularly good for corporate employee events- we hosted 60 people a few years ago and the employees loved these themed evenings). The no reservation policy for restaurants also works well. The coffee shop is terrific and is a saviour for coffee/tea addicts with good snacks and ice cream. Evening entertainment is decent. The Il Divo night was my favourite. The Michael Jackson show should be retired. Finally, I need to note the superb service of our concierge Daniel. My husband had to leave at 9am for his flight and my pick up was at 4 pm. The concierge was kind enough to give me an extra late check out at no charge. This was astounding and because of this consideration, we will be booking another vacation at the Excellence. Final suggestion: for people who like to order wine (as we do), it was somewhat prohibitive with prices ranging from $80-$130 canadian for a decent bottle. The mark up on wine is excessive. If there were more reasonable wines or prices, more guests would order bottles. We noticed that almost everyone was drinking the house wine. The main bar has great martinis made by passionate bartenders. The beach is terrific for long walks as not crowded at all (and no disturbances with locals selling stuff)- very safe to leave your things on the beach chairs unattended for hours at a time. A very relaxing holiday.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Beautiful place-poor front desk service

We arrived at the hotel and were informed the swim up suite we had booked was not available. We were provided an “upgrade” to a regular room. We were told we would be moved the next day. Despite our strong negative reaction, the front desk person just shrugged. Management was not informed until we had a major melt down after waiting in our room the next day for 3hours, no information was provided. We continually had to call the front desk and speak to a new person, each time we were told 20  [... read more]minutes. Then, we’d have to call them back... it was very frustrating and was a very negative start. They eventually had a manager speak to us and provided a 25 minute massage. Sorry, but it was not enough. The rest of our holiday was good. The food was just ok, very salty. Staff were very nice.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: The Excellence really is excellent,

On our 4th visit to the Excellence Cancun, we discovered this resort has actually become even better. As always, the staff really does make the difference and we cannot say enough good about each and every one of them.

Excellence Punta Cana: Pure heaven

Everything about this place is amazing from food, accommodations, staff, drinks , service, entertainment, beach, pools and activities. This was our second trip here and it was better than last year. We’ve been to the two other Excellence resorts in Mexico several times but we like the layout , beach and pools much better here. There’s always a daybed or lounge chair available at pool or beach. If you want quiet relaxation with top notch staff and service you won’t be disappointed.

Excellence Punta Cana: Fantastic resort

Fantastic place, great food, service and beautifully kept resort. Very friendly staff. Rooms were very nice and plenty of choses for food. The beaches were very clean and well kept. Best place to stay for sure

Excellence Punta Cana: Awesome resort and people

The #1 resort that we have been to for quisine and service. The most remarkable food. Jensen, our server in Chez Isabelle restaurant was the best server ever. So funny and so efficient. Anna who serves during the entertainment, very attentive. Really nice. Very clean and well maintained resort. They pay attention to everyone. W [... read more]e never had deep tissue massages like that before. Even in Canada. The beach is so wonderful, close to the pool, never had to worry about saving loungers. Excellence Playa Mujeres: Best Resort Ever

Having traveled to many destinations and been at many resorts, I can tell you this is the best ever all-inclusive. The food is amazing (and I am very picky), the entertainment extraordinary, the staff fantastic and always happy (sincerely happy)! I cannot tell you how wonderful this experience was.....I cannot express in words the wonderful experience this experience was!

Excellence Punta Cana: Fantastic beach, very comfortable.

The vacation was overall very good to great. Though the surf was a bit rough for swimming, it was mesmerizing to just sit and watch the waves roll in. You can swim if you walk up the beach to the right, where it is more calm. Room was fine, but if I was a hotel room/bathroom designer, I would make several changes. The food was mostly excellent. If we go back, I woukdn’t pay for the Club upgrade because Magna was our least favorite restaurant, and the Club reserved section of the beach was not better than the non-reserved areas and there were more concierge folks at the front desk than at the Club concierge, and the rooms, service and access to the other restaurants was the same.

Excellence El Carmen: Still a great resort

Second time for us One of the better resorts we’ve been to and have been to many 5star resorts all over. Great food and lots of choices Beautiful and modern Resort The staff is pretty amazing whether in restaurants , buffet beach bar or entertainment staff Keep it up!!!

Excellence Oyster Bay: Top Notch - Great Resort!

We travel at least twice per winter and must say this newer resort was great. The staff were all very friendly, wanting to make everything perfect. The grounds are very clean. There was little to no wait times at the dinner restaurants. We tried most of them and didn’t find any to complain about. Buffet for breakfast and lunch had enough variety for any one picky. This is the place to go if you want a quick meal. We liked the Italian restaurant at the main pool for pizza lunches if you didn†[... read more]™t want to sit down. They give you a pager/buzzer so you didn’t have to wait and can get it to go. The rooms are nice, pictures are accurate based on the beach house we had. There were absolutely no beach vendors to pressure you to make a purchase. The spa is top notch. One of the best ones yet!! If you are going for a beach, really look at the photos, Excellence section had larger beaches but the maIn area didn’t have much of a beach. Overall, had a great vacation and would recommend it.

Excellence Punta Cana: Truly Excellent Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Excellence Punta Cana. While the room was great and the food good, the staff were the best - very attentive and a real joy to be around. The beach is nice but the water is not calm and there is an undertow. We enjoyed playing in the waves but some may not. The entertainment is better than most we have seen and the entertainment team were engaging but not pushy. Excellence Oyster Bay: Very nice resort with greater potential

We are regulars to the Excellence brand having tried all their places with the exception of this new resort. This is a nicely laid out modern resort. We stayed in the # 4 block overlooking pool and ocean. The room was clean and spacious and well appointed. Minibar service was great once you made it clear your preferences. If you are a beach fan you may be disappointed as the beach is not very long and it's narrow. There is not lots of space to hang in the sand unless you go with the Excellence c [... read more]lub. The pool area provided lots of options for lounging with little need to reserve and it was at 72 percent occupancy during our stay. The food and service was very good with only one instance of slow service in Spice that was rectified. Our favourite restaurants were the Grill, Chez Isabelle and the Lobster House. The bar service was also very good but excellent at the Martini and Ceilo bars. This resort is really a 4.5 star but with time it will be a true 5 star very soon in our opinion.

Excellence El Carmen: Excellent service but

The Excellence El Carmen resort is very nice but misses some of the atmosphere from other Punta Cana resorts we have visited. If you walk out of an early dinner , there is no good place to hang out with music other than one evening with a great electric violin player. It would have been nice to hear some Domenican music after each dinners ... The beach is nice with palm trees meeting the ocean (not as open as Bavaro beach) The food is well prepared and presented but it seems the quality  [... read more]of the food is inferior to other resorts we visited such as Paradisius, Majestic Elegance. We were disappointed that the buffet restaurant is not open for the evenings. My wife has some food sensitivity issues and likes the pick items from the buffet that agree with her diet. It is hit and miss if you order from the "a la carte" restaurants as you don't really know what you will get. This is the only reason we would not return. Every other resorts we have visited keep their buffet open for the evening hours. The food at the buffet is quite nice but this restaurant has no view and feels a bit like an office cafeteria. Like most resorts in Punta Cana, the shows are all the same and no one seems to understand that most people would prefer to hear local music and talent than Michael Jackson imitations. Overall, the service is superior and a good resort if you are looking for a quiet time.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Great Resort!!!!

This was our first all- inclusive vacation and thanks to Lisa for all the time spent helping us decide, we had an unforgettable holiday. The staff was amazing and each time any of them passed,you were greeted with “OLA”. The grounds were beautiful and everything was spotless. Rooms were gorgeous with all the amenities you could ever need. We never had a bad meal the entire week from room service to fine dining! If you wanted beach activities and music during the day or a quiet place on a comfy lounger to read a book or just relax, there was always a spot. Nightly entertainment and 2 special event dinners were excellent. Very easy to book a side trip to Tulum. (Highly recommend) Only complaint heard from anyone there was the coffee in the restaurants. Majority of people went to the Aroma Cafe daily and would bring their coffee to restaurant of choice. Many people we met were repeat patrons of Excellence Riviera or if their first time were already planning on going back. Thanks Trip Central and Lisa for helping us choose Excellence Riviera! We truly were pampered and had a relaxing week.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Awesome Resort

The hotel was clean, inviting and revitalizing. Rooms are clean twice daily so it’s refreshments restock daily. Hotel staffs, from the front desk, hospitality, concierge and room services were respectful and open. We really enjoyed our stay there.
