Beautiful, Relaxing and Fun Resort

This was a very relaxing resort. Loved the room, the adult only pool, the beach, the food, the shows, the snack bar, the bartenders and all of the service staff. Enjoyed all of it and had an amazing time!

Totalling uncaring

I asked for a quote for a two-week extension and was quoted 1330 US dollars. I wanted to pay it then and there but they said I have to wait until the last day of my current stay. When that date arrived I went to pay and found that the price had doubled. Nothing I could do or say would dissuade them from changing their mind. Also originally I asked if I would stay in the same room and she had said yes but that evening I got a call and was told I would have to move. There was absolutely no c [... read more]onsideration for the client. If anyone ever asks me for a recommendation for stay at the Decameron I would tell them to never never go there.

OK Resort

Overall, an ok resort. Nothing special. Was somewhat disappointed with the room. No kleenex tissue, no coffee maker, no cream rinse, no fridge, you had to pay daily for the safe. I would not classify this as a 4 star hotel, but a 3 1/2. Beach was beautiful. Grounds beautiful.Way TOO MANY vendors on the beach bugging you every 30 seconds literally. Beach chairs hard as rock. You had to buy an air mattress in order to sit on them for more than a half hour. The food was ok. The ala cartes not authe [... read more]ntic in the least. They could put in more effort in the kitchen to make them so. No visible precautions taken for covid 19. Also Do Not Disturb sign on the door, but the maid ignored it and came in anyway and cleaned twice. That was quite disturbing. I had to tell her directly not to enter when she saw the sign. 1/2 of the wait staff seemed happy to be doing their job, but the other 1/2 seemed miserable. Of course we tipped, but didn't feel we had to. Afterall, we are Canadians. Booking ala cartes was not fun either. You waste about 2 hours of your day every second day. You have to line up (sitting on chairs) at about 7.15 am. They don't start booking until 8.30 sharp! Then you wait your turn. They have 1-3 bookers and about 70 on average trying to book a restaurant for either that night or the following. No shortage of T.P., so that's good. Wifi only in the lobby or lobby bar. Not good. Specialty coffee was only at lobby bar, or ala cartes. Not in buffet dining rooms.

Was a little disappointed

Clean resort. Food decent. Most staff friendly. Had an issue with checkin (Which was resolved but not totally and my request given three months prior) as well I had an issue with the head of the Italian restaurant when he would not replace a sour bottle of wine I purchased and I still had to pay for it. That was super disappointing.

DeCameron Complex in Buceria Mexico [

A large complex with many buildings and manypools etc. The accomodation is very good - king bed; very well maintained and cleaned etc. The place is set on a beautiful, long beach strip with seemingly unlimited chairs and umbrellas and pullapas. The beach itself stretches for kilometres in both directions allowing for almost unlimited beach walking. The Complex has 5 Restaurants, 2 large dining rooms. The food is excellent. The town of Bucerias has numerous shops. There are many tours available that are good.

First Time Here

Traveled to the Royal Decameron the last week in February for the first time. We have been in Puerto Vallarta many times but this was our first visit to the Decameron. The resort is about 15 - 20 mins from the airport but can be longer if your transfer bus has to drop off at other resorts. We took almost an hour to get to our resort as we went into Neuvo Vallarta to drop off. We took a taxi to return to the airport and it only took 15 mins, with a cost of 240 pesos. It is a lovely resort, [... read more] with multi colored buildings which gives it an authentic Mexican feel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everywhere in the resort is clean and well maintained, actually I don't think I have ever been in a cleaner resort in Mexico. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is plentiful and fresh and well prepared, from the breakfast buffet to the Specialty restaurants. Our favorite was the PIccolo (Mediterranean style, but mostly Italian). There are 5 Specialty restaurants. You can book the restaurants every night of your stay, but can only book 2 at a time. Booking is every morning at 8:30(the brochure we were given said 8 but the Guest Services staff does not get there till 8:30. People begin lining up as early as 6:30, once the process begins it is very quick. The beach is very nice, able to walk a long way in either direction. There are many lounge chairs and palapas along the beach. Suggest you bring a blow up float mattress (from the dollarstore is fine) to put on the lounge chairs as they are the hard white plastic chairs. The air mattresses are also sold at the gift shop in the lobbies. There are 5 pools, 2 are in an adult section or quiet section of the resort, Block 5 and 6. We stayed in Block 5 which was very quiet and peaceful, In the evening you could hear the show at the theater but you can hear that through the whole resort, it ends around 10:30 pm and once your balcony door is closed it is not a problem Not all the buildings have elevators (3 and 4 story buildings), so if you have mobility issues make sure to request a building with an elevator. There are no fridges in the rooms, but I believe you can request one. The rooms are locked with a traditional key that is put on a lanyard, be careful not to loose your key as you will be charged for a replacement, but also the key has your room number etched into it, so if found someone could enter your room. There are safes in the rooms, however it also is locked with a key, that you purchase for 50 pesos a day. There are spa treatments available, we had a massage on the beach which was lovely. They run specials everyday, on Tuesday a 50 minute massage was $20 US I would recommend this resort but if I had younger children with me I am not sure that they would be entertained, there is an activities pool but not really a children's section or play areas.

Authentic Mexican Brightly Coloured Resort in Great Location!

Royal Decameron Resort Complex Review We always enjoy staying at the Royal Decameron Complex as we love the authentic Mexican feel with bright colours and artwork! This was our 5th time to this resort from February 21-28, 2020 and this time was for a wedding – per my suggestion of this resort! A group of 34 of us! Location: The reason for choosing this resort was the bright coloured building (not white and modern looking), location and free form pools with some shade. The ability t [... read more]o walk just 14 minutes to the markets or 6 minutes up the hill to highway 200 to catch the collectivo or buses to surrounding towns makes this an ideal location. A suggestion for improvement: As the cobblestone is very difficult to walk on, and the sidewalks are uneven, it would be great if there was a sidewalk along the property to connect with the one further up the hill. Pool & Beach Area: Fabulous beach where you can walk for miles in both directions. Beautiful pools – especially the larger one in block 6. Additional palapas and umbrellas would be beneficial as even though we want the sun, the direct sunlight all day can prove to be too much for some of us. Another area that is of obvious concern is the uncomfortable loungers. It is a shame that one has to go out and purchase an air mattress for the loungers just to be comfortable. Check In: Excellent with quick service provided. The biggest area of improvement would be supplying the safe key at this time (and include the charge in the price of the package). We went to the area where we had to purchase the safe key and pay a daily fee - twice. The first night they were not ready for us as our information was still being entered into the system and the next day the system was down. How does this provide us with comfort knowing our valuables are safe??? Rooms: Beautiful room in block 6. Appreciated the complimentary soaps/shampoo/body wash and hair dryer. Our maid was fantastic – very friendly and quickly resolved any needs we had. Improvement ideas: Supply face cloths, additional hangers and perhaps more than 2 bottles of water daily. We each used 1 bottle for brushing our teeth morning and evening so that left no water just to drink. Perhaps 4 bottles per double occupancy room would be more appropriate. Also, an ice machine in each block would be appreciated. Unfortunately, the bedside lighting is not condusive to reading as it is not bright enough (especially for those of us who wear glasses or eyes are aging). Above bed lighting would be appreciated. Restaurants: This trip we enjoyed the buffets. We did not try to book into the a la cartes because we were never up early enough to get on the list. We loved that guacamole is now served! Also loved the crepes, although they were served in the evening. We would love to see them as a breakfast option with the addition of pineapple jam. Of course, the omelette station was fantastic. Was not so fond of the majority of the desserts with the exception of the ice cream! Perhaps coconut and pineapple muffins or mini cheese cakes that are sold in the area could be added to the line-up. Other fantastic additions would be: a specialty meat station – fresh fish, roast beef or turkey, stir fry station – with choice of meat / tofu / vegetables and sauce; vegen / gluten free / and keto stations. Drinks: Loved that watermelon juice that was offered many times in the buffet. Almost all of the drinks were too sweet – especially the non-alcoholic pina coladas. We actually went into town just to have some. They are not creamy at all – just super sweet! This has not changed in all my times staying at this resort and it would be a great improvement! Evening Shows: I enjoyed the nightly shows, but having been to this resort many times was disappointed that they have not been updated. Having said that, I did miss Grease as it was not in the line-up. The nightly show in the ampi-theatre at 9:30 is too late – not only for those who wish to bring their children, but for those of us who have had a wonderful long day enjoying the sunshine. Perhaps an 8:30 start would be more appropriate, with the entertainment by pool 1 starting earlier as well. I was surprised to see that dry ice is still being used both on the stage and in the disco. It makes it very difficult for those who suffer from asthma or other health issues to stay and enjoy the show. The disco does not start until 10:30 and consists of extremely loud music videos (with no option to change the style of music). Unfortunately, it is too loud to even carry on a group conversation. As a large percentage of the clientele are older, it would be beneficial if they started earlier, turned down the volume, had a variety of styles of music and offered dance lessons such as salsa, cumbia or buchata. Wedding: Great venue which exceeded the bride’s expectations! She said the person organizing the event was awesome! The ceremony location on the beach was beautiful. The wedding started at 4:00 (so sun would not be too intense). Following this, the reception was in front of the Tropical Buffet. The food, bar service and mic system to play our own music made it a night to remember. The most fun was dancing on the grass! Would highly recommend it. Overall, we loved this resort and will continue to return, but it would be great to see the improvement suggestions.

Royal decameron complex

the grounds are very well maintained, the rooms are kept clean and the cleaning staff were excellent. We were there last year and loved it this year not very impressed, a lot of the staff were'nt the same and not to friendly the entertainment crew total different and spoke very little english and the food not great to much mexican I found this time around they catered to the spanish.

A good place

Be here before great location service has gone down, it felt like it gearing for more Latin guest. Many English speaking service personnel gone. Not working there like last year before was told it change ownersit location near many good restaurants will return because of that. Night show gone down a bit.

Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel! Good facilities, pool, oceans and food. Rooms were a bit dated. Staff very friendly. Location great between surfing town and Puerto Vallarta. Mexicans vacation here too.lots of canadians!

Did not want to leave!

Not only was the service amazing but the atmosphere of the resort was unique and welcoming. The colours make everything a tad more fun and everything was always clean! You also learn to appreciate the Mexican culture through the activities and themed nights brought to us by the food and entertainment. Overall an amazing resort.

Perfect family getaway

We loved everything about this resort, staff were very friendly; every area was spotless! Beautiful greenery,lots of loungers always available! Lots of great food! Lots of walking paths and close to Bucerías! We felt very safe everywhere!

This was the 10th time in the PV and Bucerias area and the first for my partner. She almost immediatley felt safe and comfortable and the 14 days were a joy. Enough pools and beach areas that you can find the one most comfortable for you and the food changed daily so you never get bored with the same buffet items. Staff are fun to interact with and Tony especially made us feel welcome for every meal we had in the general buffet.

Awesome resort!

we really enjoy the resort, especially the staff. They are all so friendly and helpful. We have been here before and will return again. The location is in such a beautiful area, with lots to do on and off resort!

Fantastic Stay!

My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights and it was amazing! This was our first time in the Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico. We flew with Air Transat both ways which was a breeze! The package booked through Tripcentral was both easy and convenient thanks to Rachel Guindon who made it all happen. She was there to answer all of my questions very thoroughly and chose perfect flight times for us. Thank you! We had to wait a couple of hours before checking in since we were there before the time but the Decameron staff held onto our bags for us while we used the time to eat. The staff actually upgraded our room to one with 1 king bed on a top floor by the adult only pool. We were so thankful for this. The service here is incredible by the way. They always had smiles on their faces, willing to help and were super efficient. Special shoutout to Leo, Vidal, and Yair for your great service. Also to our housekeeper (so sorry I forgot her name but she was our housekeeper from feb 8-15th room 5424) And to Samantha & Ignacio (On site air transat reps) who helped us choose the perfect excursions and were super educated and hilarious! The beach gets packed earlier in the day so finding side by side chairs in the shade can get tough but people on the beach were super friendly and made room for us when they saw us searching for a place. There are quite the number of iguanas around the resort. Do not pet them or feed them. They’re super cute and harmless though! Let them do their thang. On our second day there we saw fireworks at the resort which we loved and another day we celebrated Mexican Fiesta day throughout the complex. Every restaurant and bar had something special going on one even had a Mariachi band! The food was okay to be honest we didn’t expect 5 star meals as this is not a 5 star resort but LOTS of options for everybody! The best buffet is the one by building 4 pool close to the beach bar. They have the most options including pizza and create your own pasta. The snack bars are great too. Burgers are there are good. They always have chips and guac so if you’re on the hunt for that then go here. Overall we loved this trip. The weather and wonderful staff made us wish we were still there. We will be back for sure. TIPS: -Stay in block 4 or 5 for quieter adult pool & bars. Also close to a nice snack bar , theatre, disco and local shops & towel exchange. -Must wake up early as the staff start booking reservations for a la cart restaurants at 8:30. First come first serve . We went to Rodizio, Piccolo and Jap Jap. The Italian Piccolo one has the best tasting food. -Just down the road (toward the disco and theatre) is a convenience store which has snacks, and cigarettes for cheaper than the resort and better selection. - If your package includes a city tour DO IT! You will get to go to some cool places including a few local shops, flea market in downtown Vallarta, a beautiful church and an authentic tequila experience in the mountains. -If you think you’ll be leaving the resort or buying literally anything while you’re there , have lots of pesos. The hotels exchange rate isnt terrible but might as well exchange money before you leave. When we went to Cancun we found that there was more chances to use USD but not here. Pesos is the way to go. - If you’re looking for a party resort, this is not the place for you. We found a lot of the other vacationers were more senior who enjoyed fun but mostly relaxation. Perfect for us but not everyone. -The gift shop charges 10 pesos for plastic bags (good for them) so bring your own if you need them. -The room safe also costs about 30 pesos a day and phone calls even local ones aren’t free. You can see the cashier (also is the one who does currency exchange) to set this up. -Go to the buffet when it first opens or after 8 pm if you’re looking to avoid the line ups and busy times. -Check out the daily theatre shows at 9:30PM everyday! They’re great! - WiFi in common areas only not in the rooms.

Home Away From Home

Although this resort is older, it is so clean , with beautiful grounds, hardworking staff, and a great beach. Total relaxation is here! Nightly shows are excellent. The number of repeat guests is amazing - a true testament for this resort.

SECOND TIME HERE

Second year here, good value . Spent 2 weeks here . Food gets boring after a week but you can go into Busaria and eat .First room in block 6 really smelt musty so we moved to block 2. This room was a little better but hot water was in low supply. The ala cart restaurants were much better than last year but a real pain to get a reservation .Nice to be able to just walk off the resort and go to Buseria or cab it to Puerto Valarta.Just remember this is probably a 3.5 star resort. Superb resort

the grounds are perfectly groomed, I never had a bad meal but only ate at 1 a la carte, the pools were wonderful but I found the adult pool a little cool, staff were very friendly and helpful, Oscar went out of his way to make holiday special

Repeat Visitors are Loyal

We both are impressed with the complex where the clients come for more vacation and will come again the next time. Staff is helpful and good at what they do. Our room was just right for us, quiet and located at the back in Block 5. The elderly have to use the elevator if they aren't on the main floor. Watching the removal of palm leaves and that the coconuts were cut off before any danger showed. We took two separate days to visit the Botanical Gardens, and San Sebastien where if you wish to use credit or debit cards, they don't have the setup for it. Take pesos only, even before USD. This town was built in the 1800s, and is on several hills, so bring comfortable shoes. They remain old fashioned. And leaving a cold climate made us feel free to discard the gloves, jackets, and caps and watch the waves, which was relaxing. Loved it!
