Amazing !

As experienced travelers to Cuba, we have experienced all kinds of service, from good to down right horrible ! This hotel is simply amazing ! It all starts with the very hands on management group starting with Ernesto and Miguel. They were always out and around the resort talking to guests, getting their feedback and offering any assistance they could. This great service filtered down to all of their staff. It truely feels like your home away from home. For those who like a small resort this is absolutely perfect ! You are only a short walk to the beach, the pool or the main lobby. I could go on and on about the property but go and visit and you will agree with me. As can be confirmed by the number of guests that have been coming back year after year. That should say something !!

Handy and convenient, Not much walking.

Arrived well before noon on April 13/17 and did not have a room until after 4 p.m. Most of the food is either lukewarm or cold unless you want to stand in line while they cook it fresh for you. Had problems with Air in the room 3 nights in a row, woke up in a sweat. Took 3 complaints to finally have it repaired properly. Had cramps and diarrhea after each of 3 different a-la-carte restaurants and still suffering today, April 24/17. We booked a tour of Havana with Sunwing rep. and after wait [... read more]ing over 45 min. for the bus, it arrived at least half an our late and was so packed, we could not get 2 seats together and had to cancel.

A Great Return Trip to Memories Jibacoa April 2017

This was our third time staying at Memories Jibacoa. We had wanted to return because of the great snorkelling just off the beach and we really liked the location of the resort, it is not In a strip of hotels, but more isolated and quiet. We were very pleased with a number of developments at the hotel. The food is much better, especially in the buffet. The Cuban restaurant was the best of the three reservation restaurants. We received two calls during our stay ask if our room was okay or if there was anything that could be done to make our stay better. When we arrived, our Oceanview room was spotless. The furniture is getting a bit dated, but there are new towels and shower curtains, which were very nice. The air conditioner in our room sounded like a 747 about to take off and we asked if could be fixed and it was that same day. The hotel has also improved the wines it has for sale and the prices are reasonable. The one problem that we had during our stay was the weather. It was very windy for the whole week and that limited the amount of snorkelling we could do.

Great resort

The grounds are well kept and lots of greenery. The resort staff are very friendly and always accommodating. We especially like the balcony for dining just outside the buffet area. The food is good, perhaps a bit more selection for main dishes. The snorkling is phenomenal, when there is no red flag. Beach is good, with lots of new polapas. The rooms are a little dated, but clean. We especially like that it is mainly an over 50's crowd, much quieter and without all the partying.

Nice hotel, small easy to get around rooms basic but clean. Good a la carts, main buffet not so much. Food not always hot, shortages, one person trying to run two stations. Great pool area, really nice beach. Lots of fish to see at the beach or swim out a bit and some really nice deep coral areas.

Another fine vacation at Memories Jibacoa

This was our ninth time to the resort....consistent, quality, relaxing! Beach seems even better than we remembered. Being near those beautiful reefs we had remembered a vast but coarser sand than we were used to at other resorts, but it was much finer this time around, with the addition of new beach loungers and palapas, plenty to go around. This is a small, adults only resort on the beach...exactly the three top "must haves" for us. Usually has an older crowd, another preference for us, so it is a bit tamer than other locations. Still lots to do if you choose to do off-site excursions or participate in the many group activities on the resort. The buildings themselves are now getting a bit tired, and I would like to see more brand name liquors, but other than that, they do a very good job and give you their best. Beautiful area - really liked the resort.

We had a pool view room - second floor - and it was great. Could people-watch, see the stage, and still not far from the beach, etc. We liked the hotel's close proximity to Havana - we went twice! The surrounding area - mountains, etc. were beautiful - it was like being in a word of your own. The resort is not too big and we liked the 18 years+ part. We enjoyed all 3 specialty restaurants. We have stayed at other hotels in Cuba and other islands and I would say the buffet at Memories surpa [... read more]ssed those we stayed at in the past. One small item - when we checked in on arrival, staff directed us to our room using the stairs. When pulling luggage, etc., this is a nuisance, particularly when there are 2 or 3 small stairways going from the lobby to the rooms. Later throughout the week, we found a ramp that made it easier, however, the employee did not advise us of this upon check-in.

Good holiday

Nice resort, quiet,a little tired in need of up dating. Buffet needs more cook staff at busy times. Cooks trying to man 2-3 stations at once. Had to wait 10 minutes for dinner plates and the same for juice glassess at breakfast.

Nice and relaxing

If your not one of these people who are picky picky, this is an older resort that is not 100% like the newer ones but has an amazing location , great snorkeling, good food, awesome friendly staff, beautiful beach, great pool. The entertainment was spectacular, the musicians were really great only 250 rooms and adults only, a real slice of heaven, Ray & Linda Bernard

Another Great Stay!

We have been back to Memories Jibicoa five times and are very pleased with the service, cleanliness and accommodation. The recent upgrades to the beach area with the addition of shade and the newer beach lounges were very welcome. We did notice that the beach area was not kept as clean as previous years in that the washed up vegetation and bits of garbage were left several days before removal. Upon arrival to the resort I missed a step leading down into the beach bar and the server was quic [... read more]k to get me ice and check on my wellbeing as were the staff at the buffet that day and the entire week of my stay. I had ño problem getting ice from the beach bar whenever it was needed for the swelling in my knee. Very caring people working at the hotel.

Memories Jibacoa

Taste of Paradise We arrived at Jibacoa at midnight, but didn’t not see what was awaiting us until the next morning. What a site for winterized eyes to see! From our balcony to the left was the blue Caribbean sea and to the right was a large structure to be explored. It didn’t take long before we explored our new vacation site. What a discovery – a swimming pool the size of football field- a stage for entertainment- a games room—shops for souvenirs or spirits- a main dining room steps f [... read more]rom the inviting lobby and bar- the high ceiling gave us a sense space. On the way to the dining room was the activities board which kept us up to date on things to do from 9 to 4:30: Walking club, swimming and aqua fitness, Spanish lessons, dance lessons etc. All yours to choose or ignore. The grounds were so well planned and groomed with many Bougainvillaea bushes in full bloom. The clean and sandy beach was a delight as was the nearby open-air restaurant where we feasted occasionally, the Piano Bar and other restaurants kept us on the go day and night. We were pleased with the size of our room and bathroom. From the first day to the two weeks that followed we were in a dream setting, working out in the gym, snorkeling in the sea, dancing every night to Cuban and Pop and Jazz music. Loved the Aqua show, the Opera and more. All of these events were supported by warm and caring Cubans. Meals offered a range of choices: breakfast menu included croissants with fruit and fabulous omelets created by a six- handed chef who managed to keep three burners going at once. Other meals were presented with much variety such as cheeses, spreads, juices including papaya and yogurt drink just to name a few. Main dishes such as chicken, turkey, ham, and beef stews and even rabbit were served. Veggies as well as soups were plentiful. For dessert the tastiest chocolate ice cream and numerous pastries. We appreciated the many restaurants and were entertained by talented musicians. We were delighted with Memories Jibacoa and hope to return at a future date. Naturally not all was perfect in Paradise. The air condition was too noisy and did not always give cool air (preventing a restful night). The balcony patio doors had no screens (no problem in the daytime, but at night mosquitos were a worry). Screens would help on cool nights and would save on electricity costs. All considered, we came home packed with wonderful Memories of Jibacoa.

Very nice resort ...amazing

The grounds and hotel were very clean. Staff was very friendlyand went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant. The international restaurants were very good. ..............................

Not real bad but very disapointing

Our first room stank of sewage terribly, also a lack of water they didn't relocate us till the second day. ( had to insist strongly) the new room was better but not great, the shower actually worked our departure time was six hours after checkout, NO COURTESY AT ALL............ ten cuc. per hr extra,or just hang around (what a rip) POOR customer service after being forced to sleep in a sewer for two nights food was ok, we really enjoyed the entertainment

Over all a good resort

food good staff fantastic Pool excellent beach not good for swimming or walking. My wife phoned Sun WING to ask about Baggage policy and your people had no idea !! When checking in contrary to your written instructions we were told we could check two bags each as long as the weight was less than the allowed weight,

Exactly what we wanted

Resort was very clean,quiet (after 10:30pm). Staff went out of their way to help you.Beach was lovely the first week, lots of snorkeling with the huge reef right there. However the second week there was lots of garbage washing on the beach for three days, perhaps from a cruise ship? Anyway we didn't use the beach then, just the pool. The only complaint that I have is that they did not clean the piles of garbage on the beach for at least 3 days, not good for tourism. If you go to this resort it [... read more] is adults only, upgrade to the diamond club, they will give you a special dinner which includes the best steak and lobster they have, plus live music for dancing and upgraded drinks. You also get your own concierge (Vinny and David ) and Butler service on the beach, best value around, plus special dining at lunch time plus more a large Carter restaurant reservations. Best bang for your dollar. When we return to Cuba, we will be staying there again. 5 Stars from me. Gilles Audette

Beautiful Resort

This resort is very picturesque with the mountains around it and the ocean on the other side. The grounds were very well kept and the staff very friendly. We've been to Cuba about 8 times and this is the first time at this resort. The food was the best we've ever had in Cuba. The beef was so tender both in the buffet and the International restaurant. This is a great place to relax and recharge. Havana is only an hour away so it's a great place to take a tour from. We went with a driver, J [... read more]unior, and an English speaking guide, Giselle. They were perfect - knowledgeable, friendly, funny. You will find many repeat guests at this resort - some have returned 30 times! We didn't upgrade to Diamond Club but friends of ours did and they were very well taken care of. We were taken care of as well but the Diamond Club staff greeted them wherever they saw them and were ready and willing to fulfill any request -eg. booking an a la carte...they mentioned which one they wanted & when & it was booked & confirmed for them. There was no need for them to go into the lobby and book it themselves. This resort seems to be mostly people over 35 although there seems to be plenty for adults of all ages.

Hidden Cuban Jewel

We had a great time! We chose to go to Memories Jibacoa specifically because it is the destination closest to Havana, only a short 45 to 50 minute drive rather than 2 hours from Varadero. We wanted to visit Havana for the first time. Jibacoa is a lush, tropical location situated at the base of large treed hills. The beach is lovely and while it is not the fine, white sand of Varadero, it is still a clean white beach. Hikes in the hills and in the area were available. There is a small market five minutes walking distance from the hotel which had some of the nicest Cuban souvenirs that we had seen. The evening entertainment was superb. There was little problem getting chairs at both the beach and pool. The pool and two hot tubs were very clean and it was nice not to have the loud, pounding music that you sometimes hear poolside at other resorts. There were plenty of daytime activities for those who were interested, as well as fitness classes, boating etc. The resort is smaller, quiet and adults only. The main building is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting outside for most of our meals. As always the staff and service was outstanding and you always feel safe. The rooms and facilities were exceptionally clean. Cuba is not the place for foodies, but the food is plentiful and there is enough variety to please most people. You must expect that things in the rooms are not perfect, as resources are not always available. (This is why I did not give food or rooms 5 stars.) However we felt that the Cubans gave us the best that they had! We took the full day excursion to Havana which culminated in an outdoor show at the Tropicana which we really enjoyed. We have been to Cuba 6 or 7 times and while we like to try different locations, Memories Jibacoa is our favourite so far!

Very relaxing vacation

This was our sixth time at this resort. We really enjoy the small size of this adult resort. The staff is A one. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The food is good for Cuba. The only thing that we were disappointed about is the fact that now they have introduced the wearing of the plastic bracelets. These are just uncomfortable.

Great resort

This all inclusive resort was an ideal location for us. We liked the laid back quiet atmosphere. We were able to take good walks from the resort because of it's location. The food was very good particularly in the main dining area. One of the a la carte restaurants was disapointing but the other 2 were good. One unfortunate thing was we arrived at 5am and did not get our room until 2pm. Since the weather was bad that day we had to hang around and that was dissapointing . Their are several activities which you can take part in such as tennis, yoga Spanish lessons etc so there was lots to do for those who wished.

Absolutely Wonderful

Memories Jibacoa is awesome. The Staff there are wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. The food was great, they had cake and sang HB to our friend and made her Birthday so special. The drink selection could have been a bit more but we did just fine with our Pina Coladas, Grass Hoppers and Spanish coffees. Noesky, the Beach server, was right on us for our drinks and he was Awesome. The Entertainment staff was the Best. The dancers and singers were beautiful. The two best people were Jorge (DJ  [... read more]at the disco) and Jorge the Piano Man. Down to earth, helped us out, made the trip that much better. The resort age group was average 45 plus so we felt a little young but definitely age did not stop the party. It was a fabulous group of people and I will definitely be back to this resort.
