Enjoyed our stay

There are a few things worth mentioning if you are thinking of staying at this resort. First, be prepared for representatives of the resort to CONSTANTLY bombard you with wanting you to listen to a presentation. They tell you it will take 1 hour....3 hours later we left. Secondly, smoking is very prevalent at this resort and we are non smokers. Our room smelled like smoke which I think was also being pumped in by the air conditioning fan from other rooms. Thirdly, there are these very tiny tiny  [... read more]bugs that crawled on everything. Otherwise, our stay was nice and we enjoyed it. The service was good and the food was excellent!

Super Resort

Resort was great, weather was perfect and unlike some resorts we have been to the guests were super friendly and staff as well! What was really impressive was the need to tip everytime you turned around WASNT there! We tipped anyways, but not under pressure :) The short drive to airport was great

Had a wonderful time

we stayed at the catalonia from jan 26-feb 2 had a great time from start to finish. Honestly for the price you can't go wrong free wifi, free safe and free golf you only pay 45 for one person to rent a cart but they will charge you double if there are two of you playing witch i think is a little rediculous but still not too bad. The resort is a bit big and there are not may golf carts to give you a ride around the grounds but i am sure if you called the front desk they would be happy so send someone to give you a ride to anywhere you want to go,i personally loved walking around the resort. The food was not bad at all i thought with all the bad reviews the food would suck but there was enough to choose from you will not go hungry, i thought the slow roasted chicken and the pizza was fabulous. We tried three alacarts The rodeo served hamburgers,steak a western atmosphere was very tasty we both had a strip loin very good a little tough tho they only give you a butter knife to cut, second alacart was the japanese very good also we both had the beef very tasty although the chicken looked good to, and lastly we went to yucca more of a carribean feel very good, we both had the jerk chicken small portions but you will be stuffed when you leave because you can order two or three(appetizeres) of what ever you want for instance we ordered 4 coconut shrimp sooooooooooooo good and i dont like coconut it only comes with 5 on plate with some yummy lemon dipping sauce you will enjoy it not only because it was very good but also it is the only time you are going to see seafood in the whole resort besides calamari. You have an option to order a lobster dinner at $30us pp but we didn't . The drinks were never ending goodness of whatever you want but be careful they will knock you on your butt at the end of the night lol. Always people walking around cleaning the resort the grounds nicely manicured,rooms cleaned you can't go wrong the beach has a lot of seaweed but they do there best to keep it clean we are not beach people so that didn't bother us. All in all if you go you will meet some wonderful people and have a great time. Also i must say the staff are very nice if you tip or not. I would go back with no hesitation .

Nice Resort

The resort itself was very nice and clean. My only negative comments would be around service. Service does not cost anything to provide and although there were definitely exceptions, the staff just did not go out of their way to provide that special vacation service. There was no room service and the only food available once the restaurants closed was pizza and hot dogs(I believe until 2AM). There was no drink service at the pool or beach so we always had to go to the bar to get our own....no bi [... read more]g deal of course but service would have been nice. The staff trying to sell you tours got a bit annoying although the service they provided would have been nice to have in the restaurants..that is where we noticed it lacked the most. Shout out to Spagetti and the entertainment team who were fabulous to our group aged from 12-73! Wished there were more entertainment at night but what they did provide was great. Also, the resort needs to get better at communicating activities. We never knew what was happening day to day until it was happening which made it difficult to plan a day.

Amazing Resort and Friendly Staff

I am Celiac and managed very well with the Chefs in the Buffet most of the time. The Rodeo was a bit more challenging but we finally got a person who understood. Japanese Restaurant was excellent . The Reception seemed understaffed when we arrived at midnight which seemed very odd since they knew we were coming

Catalonia Two Week Stay Mid November 2014

I have been traveling to the Dominican Republic for the past 18 years as well as having spent extended periods of time working on the island. I read many interesting reviews of resorts that I have frequented here and get very upset with the negativity people inherently convey to the general public.This is a very well managed large resort, the rooms are a bit dated but satisfactory, the food is good with a nice variety.The grounds, beach and pool area are wonderful with the added bonus of great g [... read more]olf on the property and nearby. I feel for the price this resort meets all required objectives of a great holiday experience.

Great Family resort!!

My family and I had an amazing time. We had absolutely no complaints about the room, dinning areas and the food was great. Our only complaints would be the time share guys are very aggressive and because we had two young kids, the lack of shade on the beach was a challenge at times but manageable.

Terrible Resort

Upon arrival at the main entrance there was no welcome. We went to reception where we checked in. Very hard time understanding representative who could not speak very good English. Food was not good. Half the food stations were not operating in buffet all week. Customer service did not seem to care about problems.

This hotel is well worth the dollsrs spent

Rooms are clean and brightly lit grounds are kept well and groomed daily. The restaurants and buffet I'd quite good. I wld recommend the Japanese. And the Mexican. All of the restaurant. Provide a variety of foods for every ones taste

A Good Vacation Resort

We stayed at the resort for the entire time and did not take part in any excursions. We were really looking for some rest and relaxation after a long winter and found it on the beach. Everything was as we expected. The service was very good.

Accommodating

Pool, beach and restaurants were excellent. The staff was very accommodating, we were meeting another couple at this resort that flew in from another city and the resort managed to put the rooms close together, not all resorts will manage to accomplish this. Also when the other couple arrived one of them required a wheelchair which the resort provided.

Absolutely beautiful resort

We loved this resort. The room was extremely nice and the junior suite was large. The food was outstanding the the specialty restaurants were superb. The beach was very nice but we did not enjoy having to compete for a lounge chair on the beach and it would be good if the resort would simply buy some more chairs for their guests. The pools were very nice and clean. Staff were friendly but seemed tired, so there weren't as many smiles as you might expect. We always had excellent service however,  [... read more]particularly from the specialty restaurants which are on a punch card system - so you don't have to book a table the day before. Staff are a bit too aggressive to get you to attend their "membership" meeting. Grounds are beautiful and well cared for. Entertainment was very good. Service at the bars and buffet restaurants was very good. I would recommend this resort.

Great Stay.

Rooms were clean, centrally located, beach was good. Some sea grass, but that is expected. Good bar service, and the food was also good, and plentiful. Definately lots to do in the way of activities. Overall a good resort.

Beautiful resort

This was a wonderful trip great service. Food. The resort was very clean and well maintained. We would absolutely plan another visit. I have nothing negative to say. We have told friends about this resort and Ky coworker has already visited. She also enjoyed her stay.

Perfect Holiday

Amazing beach, food was great, drinks were yummy too. I had a blast, this was the only resort I've been to twice and I would still go again. The disco is great, entertainment staff is fun, you have to try this resort

Just okay

Overall it was an okay resort. We arrived late at night (11:00) and didn't have anyone to greet us. We went with another couple and asked to be in the same villa however they were unable to accommodate us. The next day they were able to move our friends into a villa across the path. The rooms were pretty nice. We stayed on the family side and I'm honestly happy I didn't spend the extra money to stay on the adults only side as they didn't have many extra perks. I found that rec staff were not ver [... read more]y enthusiastic about getting us to join in on games. I will say that the bar staff was amazing. I will miss Maria. The pool was nice and large and had a swim up bar. The restaurants were not that great. The best one was probably the Italian one. The beach was pretty and was always clean. I really enjoyed all the wild life that was on the resort. Next time I think I will go somewhere else
