Friendly Resort

The only problem I had was my room was on the 3rd floor which was changed the following day to the 1st floor. The food was average but ate out at many of Cuba's restaurants. Went on the Jeep Safari and that was well worth the money. Met many people from last year and had one big party nightly. Loved it and would return again. I recommend this resort if you like a lively place to vacation.

Nice resort

I was at this resort from April 02 to April 6, 2018. I arrived around 10pm and was given a room that had no telephone, smelled terrible of mold and lights by the night table were out. A/C was very loud and very cold. Had to get out of bed to turn it off due to being too cold and back on for getting too hot and room was becoming unbearable to breath. Resort is very big, didn’t get to see it all. The beach was nice, pool clean and water warm. Food was good. This resort open in 1931 to government officials until tourist were allowed to stay in 1981, I think. Everyone was very friendly, this was my 11th time in Varadero, Cuba and first time experience with a bad room that I had to change. Overall I enjoyed it.

Wonderful resort

Pools are clean and atmosphere is positive. Only draw back was line up go buffet and running out of dishes and glasses but the grill by the 24 hour bar is fantastic. Entertainment okay but foam pool party was fun. Rooms could use some upgrade but its cuba

Good intro

I thought the hotel was fine. My son and I wanted a quick 4 day trip and had never been to Cuba. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was over all clean and lived up to my expectations. We did not buy a 5 star so I did not expect one. The beach was very nice, white sands and lots of chairs. The food was what I expected however I would recommend you bri g your own spices and such as my son found the food bland. Fantastic Experience

My friend and I stayed at the resort for a week and I personally thought it was fantastic. Depending on which part of the resort you stay at, it is either 30 seconds from the beach or 2 minutes. I am more of a beach person, but we did stick our feet in the pool a couple times and it was a nice temperature and decent size. There are a lot of bars, which all provide you with fresh drinking water. At the first night of your stay you get a bottle of water, which you can then fill up whenever you [... read more] like...or just bring a 1L cup like we did which you can fill with either alcohol or water...or have both at the same time. There is always someone at the front desk, and the staff was extremely friendly during our stay. The only thing that was not as great, contrary to all the other people we heard ravaging about it, were the restaurants. We both preferred the buffet over the two that were available during our stay. Though, the staff was considerably more friendly and efficient by the buffet. The location is also perfect, not too far away from the airport so you don't have to leave 6 hours earlier. Speaking of location there is also a double decker bus, which will take you to the next little village where you can buy little merchandise and things to bring home. All in all, I absolutely loved my experience at Club Kawama and it was heartbreaking for me to leave. This is definitely a resort that I would recommend and would come back to every time if possible.

Good and Affordable resort

Our room was very hot regardless of the air conditioner being on all day. In this regard, if you don't stay so much at the resort, you will be completely be fine. I am not a picky person. Just need a bed to sleep on. Nice resort overall.

Kawama Hotel

We have been to this hotel many times. This time however the food was absolutely terrible. The staff with the exception of the guy that was cooking at the grill in the buffet, were great as usual. I had the misfortune of cutting my foot on a broken tile in the pool. I went to the medical office and the staff had no experience in treating my cut. My wife had to take over and bandage my foot. However I would return because the staff and other guests were very nice to be around.

Club Kawama

My husband and I just got back from Cuba last week. We had a great time. The food was decent. It had some flavour!! The room had some mold due to the hurricane but they moved us as soon as we brought it to their attention. There was entertainment every afternoon and evenings. The pools were clean and the drinks were yummy!! I would definitely go back. It's a 3 plus star and you get what you expect. Worth noting is go to Kiki's bar and grill. The grounds were beautiful

The resort was dated rooms were not very clean awful smell in the room towels in room were not clean never changed the sheets floors were not cleaned very noisy staff at main desk were not very helpful

Lovely Resort

The resort was beautiful, our room overlooked the pool and had a beautiful belcony, we could sit there and watch the nightly entertainment and see everything that was going on. The food was good. The resort is an older resort, but had so much character, with the court yard and all of the stone work.

Hotel KAWAMA

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful. Kawama is the oldest hotel in the area. The reception of the staff was superb. The attention and welcome given to the returnees excellent. I am happy to know that there was a representative from Quebec to assist the visitors with their needs and act as a liaison between the guest and the hotel. The food was good the pool parties and daily activities were pleasant. I am looking for a return trip in the near future. The cleanliness of the facilities were acce [... read more]ptable. I have drawback and it's related to the guest who feeds the animals that come around.

Charming

At first sight I was a little disappointed because this resort is very old and quite large compared to what we experienced last year. After adjusting my expectations I began to see the beauty of the stone walls and archways. The food was decent although I seem to experience some stomach issues after a few days ( same thing last year..different resort). The staff was friendly. Another good vacation

This is a great budget vacation spot. Rooms are usually pretty good. Grounds are well kept, pools and beaches are excellent. And the food is overall pretty decent but I’m not picky. Good stay for the price.

Not good

The beach full of sand fleas and mosquitoes got lots of bites scratching for weeks all over my body . Beach was still beautiful. The hotel room had a broken air conditioning machine and had flooding floors they only fixed the plumbing was unbearable heat to sleep in. One of the staff was a cook and said they were sick I ate the food from snack bar he made and got sick vomit and diarrhea a whole day wasted !

Unfortunately not the same

Unfortunately this place is changing. Being a returning guest you can see it first hand. The people are not as friendly as they have been prior. Guests are not taken care of as they use to be. Same typical issues are not being addressed ie toilet paper, "no sorry" Im sad to say after this trip I can not say I will be a returning guest again. I have brought numerous people with me on each occassion i visited, bring many new people. Sad it has come to this

ROOMS ARE DATED BUT CLEAN IT IS A OLDER RESORT GROUNDS ARE WELL KEPT STAFF HELPFULL AND THE BEACH IS THE BEST PART CLEAN AND BLUE WATER ..CLOSE TO VARADARO 10 PESO CAR RIDE SAFE PLACE TO WANDER AROUND. CLUB FOR CUBA THE FOOD AT THIS RESORT WAS VERY GOOD... ISNT A TIME I CAN SAY THAT AS THIS IS MY 4 TRIP TO CUBA

A resort that never let's us down.

Club Kawama is the oldest resort in varadaro...the architecture of some of the buildings is amazing..the pools are big and clean. The food is typically Cuban. There is not a great variety but you will always find something good to eat..the special attribute of Kawama is the staff...always helpful and always a big smile. This was our fourth trip to Kawama. It is our comfort zone..very safe. Will be going for a lot of years to come.

Club Kawama

l am second time in the same building and same room 4127 . On that area I miss coffee bar who was have same food, and fruits that time was papayas. Wary often I take breakfasts and launch......9 too 17 is good time for that side coffee bar with some snakes or barbecue. Buffett restaurants will be best idea for breakfast and lunch. I wish to stay one or two months..????? Thanks

Get what you pay for

If you need a place to stay for cheap, go here but don’t expect much. The food in buffet was not very good and couldn’t stand eating the same few things past the third day. Rooms are very basic. Heard many people having problems with shower. The pillows are barely an inch thick so bring your own, we had to fold ours in half to avoid neck problems. You have to ask to turn on aircon and you woke up shaking cold or when it’s off, drenched in sweat. Not much happening around hotel expect for o [... read more]ne nightly show. We were roomed at the end of hotel lot and had to walk ten minutes back up to main area for food, drink etc. As nothing was open by us. The wifi was out for 3/4 days of our 7 day trip so have remaining of my wifi card to maid when we left, and the lights kept shutting off on our last day. Nobody shows you around or tells you where to go for the “restaurant” reservations on site. Don’t have much good things to say about this resort other than pretty nice employees.

Viva Cuba

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. People were very friendly and clean. The service I received was excellent. The grounds and pool area were very clean. Overall the hotel was great. I would definitely go back
