Big does always mean better

Beautiful large resort however because of its size the food was often cold or overcooked. The rooms are nice however it took at least 20 minutes for hot water. The night shows started at 10 pm and were not very entertaining.. The beach was very narrow with lots of rocks and seaweed. Over all I have been to much better places.

A week in paradise!

Our room was bright, clean and spacious. Toilet was a bit leaky so our bathroom floor was always wet. Our bar fridge was stocked every day with beer and soft drinks. Our villa was close to dining, pools and beach. Beach is a bit rocky, so not the best for long walks. Always lots of chairs available - beach and poolside. Good selection at buffet, great drinks. Good variety of a la carte restaurants. Entertainment at night was enjoyable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Awesome Resort!!

‎2/‎9/‎2018 I traveled to Mexico on a nine day get away. I vacation outside of Canada annually .The trip was shared with my husband, adult daughter and her partner. Two rooms on the third floor of Villa 19 in the gated resort of The Grand Bahai Principe Tulum. Villa was located in a gorgeous setting. Both day and night wild life could be seen, loved it.The room is in its original style with fresh paint. Original furniture has been re-invented and looks good. Comfortable Bed. Excellent towels, Linens and pillows, they were all fresh, clean and very inviiting. Great tv with good reception. Mary our assigned Cleaning staff member ensured our room was spotless on a daily basis. Food was very good. Always enjoyed our meals. Pools were beautiful, beach was great, beach has rocks and coral, bring water shoes and this is enjoyable as you get to see all the fish that are near these areas. This area is particularly calm and quiet. Location lends itself to so many attractions as there are many very close by.to name a few less than 10km away Jungle Place,Cenote Santa Cruz,Dolphinaris,Akumal Beach,Turtle Snorkle,Xel-ha, Monkey Sanctuary,XCachel,Golf Club,Akumal Bay,Half Moon Bay, Mexicarte Shopping,Budha Gardens, etc. At the entrance all transportation and luggage is handled. There is a taxi price list for your viewing. This area will call your taxi for you. Many taxis fit 4, the driver plus 3. A bigger car was requested for our group of 4. Same price. I was welcomed as an appreciated guest by all staff members that I came in contact with, they were kind, courteous, and willing and equiped to handle any request. Photos of restort are true to actual;. What photos cannot capture is the friendly atmosphere created by the entertainment, the guests and staff interacting and how it nourishes your very stay. This huge resort is divided and each resort has its own specialty. Tulum offered us the pleasing view of dolphins onsite. The resort offers everything, one could have a long visit and never need to leave the property.To name a few Casino, Pharmacy, Shopping, Performance Theatre, Coffee Station, Meals, Ala Carte Restaurants, Beach Bar, Pools etc. Everything they promise is onsite. My family of four enjoyed the happy people (both staff and guests)everywhere. 2019 is our next target visit.

Amaizing resort!

We’ve been in this resort the second time and we are satisfied with service, quality of food and ground activities. Here comfortable for any age. Staff is very friendly and willing to solve any problems which may happened. So, we were happy with our 14th days vacation.

Great service

Hotel was great. Very large! Bev did a great job at accommodating everyone in our group! Thanks for everything! It would be great to have more reservation options as we only got three. This would great!

Pure paradise

There was not one thing that I can say was bad about the resort. I was totally impressed with everything from the rooms staff and entertainment. Also the food , I am a chef and I can honestly say that the food was amazing. We went to most of the restaurants and the best food at all of them. I am going back and bringing my kids this time.

Fantastic time

Resort is big but luckily there are trollies to get you around. Beautifully kept grounds lots of palm trees and flowers and wild life around. Great workers very friendly. Beach is beautiful we set up camp there everyday. Nice long walks on the beach lots of sea shells to find and coral

FANTASTIC!

Food was great. Lots of variety. The beaches and water were stellar. The grounds were stunning. Animals all over the place. The whole place was very alive. A long way from the airport and any towns but we will be going back.

Best Bahia Resort I've visited

I've been to several Bahia resorts around the Carribean and this one was the best thus far. The food was great, the grounds were clean, the rooms were well kept and clean, and the service was top notch.

Wonderful and relaxing resort

The hotel is amazingly huge, and has three parts connected. I like this hotel because the workers oin the hotel are friendly. People recognized us because we are Asian, though we are Canadian. We registered to three restaurants, Tequila, Mediterranean and Le gourmet, all had good services. When in the dinner time, the trains(car for inner transportation) were so full, anyway we made it to the restaurant and back to our room. We took almost everyday tours to Chichen Itza, swam in the deepest cenote was a unforgettable experience. We also went to Ek Balan, Tulum, Coba. Unbelievable we didn't see the sunset but we watched a very wonderful show in Coba. I like this hotel very much, i enjoy this trip very much. I of course will recommend to my friends. And I would like to let you know this is a wonderful and enjoyable trip, we really want to tell everybody this is the best hotel you can rely on. I want to say thank you and give a big hug to Ms Cathie Milner of tripcentral, she was so patient and she has done a terrific job to assist us to choose a good hotel and good time to go to Cancun, Mexico. Beautiful resort, but way to many kids

July 16-26/2017 When we arrived we were put in a villa way out by the Dolphin pool. It was a long walk to everything. We asked for a room change since we were repeat customers, then put in Villa 12..... it was awesome!! View of pool and ocean. The pools are very warm this time of year and lots of families enjoying the pool , which made it difficult to have a quiet day. The worst was people .....from the US always trying to hoard in on your umbrella!!! They practically sat right beside you. We  [... read more]had to ask a few times for people to back up. The food was absolutely the best I have ever had at an all inclusive. We did 1 a la carte and it was good. Service in the buffet was top notch due to a wonderful young man named Gama. He lead us to the air conditioned section everyday. The bar service at the main beach was hit and miss, some bar tenders where grouchy and rude. They work very hard having many things to do, but if you can't be nice under pressure get a different job. Would we go back...... only to the adults only section.

Amazing Resort

This was our first trip to Riviera Maya and I was skeptical about this hotel with recent reviews. It exceeded my expectations as staff were amazing. They work so hard and still are smiling and willing to help. They treat children great...always giving high fives or hugs or joking.

Will not go back 😞

Amenities were good, don pablo restaurant was excellent, nice and clean grounds. Plenty to do. Beach was ok, plenty of rocks. We found restaurant, bar and tram employees were nice and friendly. Lobby and front desk and security people either did not care or were downright rude to guests. We spent almost a full day in combined hours trying to fix a mistake they made on booking. Separated a family of 6 into 2 separate villas. Made us pack and unpack and still did not get it right. Big cockroache [... read more]s in our room 2 nights in a row. TV was turning off but front desk did not send anyone even after I asked to replace it. Security guard turned off lights while we were still at diamond lobby without any warning and wont turn them back on so we can gather our stuff without stumbling in the dark. Front desk did not want to send anyone to turn on lights so we had to use our cellphones as flashlights. We did not ask a whole lot or any special treatment. This is the kind of service you will get. We had to make do with our vacation. Should have spent a bit more money to go to a quality resort.

Absolutely amazing!!!

We went for our honeymoon. They upgraded us to an ocean view. A.C. was not working so they happily switched us to another ocean view, they even moved our luggage for us. Amazing service, very clean, great food. I honestly cannot complain. A big shout out to Arcangel our amazing bartender.

Average

Hotel is old. I feel they have to hire more personal. Our room was cleaned after 4PM every night. Beach is very good and safe for children. A lot to do with kids ( dolphins, waterpark on the territory of resort).

Grand Bahia Principe Tulum

...we were there for the 3rd time, so: - first time 20 years ago - great in all - 2012 in need for a make over :pools ,rooms ,public areas furniture - 2017 better , rooms painted , new furniture in lobby , bar , pools cleaner -except the main one....to crowded and water not so clean , grounds well kept , dining - white table cloths spotless all the time , plenty to choose from [... read more] and tasty , yet less then before overall good experience.

Meh

The hotel was nice, however, the worst service I have ever received at an all-inclusive resort, and I have stayed at 2 other Grand Bahia's in other countries. Very unfriendly and rude staff at the restaurants and bars. The food was good, but could not drink a sip of water. It always tasted like soap. The staff at the front desk were a hit or miss. Sometimes, friendly and helpful and other times, completely rude, rushed, and unhelpful.

Had a great time at Grand Bahia Principe Tulum

Myself and 6 of my friends took a trip to Mexico May 10 - May 17 2017 and we had the most amazing time. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum and were very happy with everything! The customer service was amazing they made sure we had everything we needed and If we had an issue it was solved, the rooms were well kept a cleaner came in every day, the mini fridge was always stocked with chips, pop and beer, the food was the best food I've had at an all inclusive and offered a large variety, t [... read more]he beach was amazing if you walked down closer to the reef you could see hundreds of fish, we saw turtles and sting rays right off the beach too which was so cool and spent a lot of our days at the pool, the drinks were always well made and the excursion we went on was a lot of fun. We got to snorkel in fresh water cenotes, zip lined and repelled, were served a nice lunch and we got to see the beach of tulum and the ruins. Our excursion was an extra $130, but very worth it. I would 100% recommend staying at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum, there was always something going on, whether it was a magic show, acrobatics, day time pool activities, on site casino and club and trollys from the Coba to Tulum. Would never return

The 'Meh' 'Not my problem' Resort. I can whole heartedly say - we will never return to Grand Bahia Principe Tulum. This is the worst resort we have ever experienced. There were a few positives, but these were overshadowed by the mass of negatives. This resort is absolutely huge, and the fact they have so many guests - the majority of the staff don't seem to care about the standard of service they give. They have a 'not my problem' kind of attitude. There were a few very polite, smiling  [... read more]staff but overall it was service with a snarl. We attempted to book our a la carte reservations on the day we arrived - we were only able to book 10.30pm reservations for the end of our vacation - nothing else available at all. We were able to secure an earlier reservation at another restaurant but only after speaking with guest services. On a positive note La Gormet restaurant was pretty good. The food in the buffet was mass slop. Often sat out for too long, and not consistent temperatures. Some days we lived off pizza and fries because everything else was flavourless mush. We are not picky eaters and have been to multiple resorts in Mexico - this is the first time we have struggled to find something at a hotel buffet. We were part of a 40 person wedding group, which was specified on booking and confirmed by the bride prior to our arrival - we were on the absolute opposite side of the resort to everyone else. I know close rooms can't be guaranteed but it would have been nice. During the wedding guests were told to be in the lobby for 2.30pm to be transported to the wedding ceremony. At 2.45pm no transport had arrived and when my fiancé asked he was told 'call wedding coordinator not my job'. Our room itself had broken air conditioning. We reported this 3 times and then gave up as nothing was done about it. It made for some uncomfortably hot nights sleep. We also woke up the morning after the wedding to find no running water, and we had one evening with no power in our room. These latter two problems were fixed but not promptly. The night of the wedding we found a room service menu in our room and called for room service. We were told 'is no for your room' and to go to the snack bar. It said nowhere in this menu it was only for certain guests. We went to the snack bar and found scraps of food , we asked the staff if more would be coming out and were ignored. We went back to reception and inquired about paying for room service as at this point we were ravenous - we were told 'no for your room' and when we asked how much it would be to add it on we were told its not possible. When we checked out the manager had a note of our problems on file and said 'we could have added room service to your room no problem' but this was obviously too little too late. We complained about the above on multiple occasions and were told the manager would contact us. On the last day we received a letter telling us to speak with a guest service manager. At this point we just wanted to enjoy the last of our trip. On check out the manager spoke with us, we did get an apology but it was very much brushed off that we didn't speak with them soon enough to rectify the issues - although we did raise the concerns during the week as they happened. By the end of our week we were ready to leave, fed up of almost being run over by golf carts every where we went and generally unhappy looking staff. If you have got this far into reading my review - I will say we still managed to enjoy our trip on the whole, but this resort is far below the standard advertised. Do your research and go elsewhere - there are MUCH better resorts in Mexico.

Anniversary trip!

The resort was clean, staff was for the most part friendly, there is always one or two. Freddie and Armondo at the main lobby bar provided outstanding service, best tequila shots ever! Weather was outstanding, only one day with a brief shower. We enjoyed our stay. The resort is huge, so make sure you are prepared for walking or taking the trolley.
