Room to improve

Check in was very slow. Stayed in line for close to 2h. Wifi not free... very desapointed for a 4+ star resort. Ground was beautiful. Room could be renovated. Beach where beautiful but no umbrella, very desapointed. Buffet could be improved but a la carte was amazing. Paided way to much for a 4 days stay.

Great resort

Large updated resort with lots to do. Multiple large pools. Awesome sandy beach. Lots of chairs and trees for shade. Exceptional service in restaurants with multiple options, both casual and formal. Most enjoyable resort. Staff very friendly and professional.

Definitely going back!

This resort is definitely one to revisit. The snorkeling is wonderful. The dive shop is great. We were in the Tulum building of the Beach resort section. It was quiet and peaceful and a short walk to everything we needed.

Excellent resort- Barcelo Maya

Accommodation, services, food, staff and everything about Barcelo was amazing. We had an enjoyable time, will definitely go back and will refer friends and family too. West jet representative did an amazing job helping us to select this resort and we are very happy. We will definitely continue to use Westjet for other travels.

Wonderful~

Everything was great. Great food, rooms clean and well maintained, beach clean, lots of beach chairs and towels, staff very attentive, gardens well groomed and nightly entertainment fun. We attended 3 a la carte restaurants and we were very pleased. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic Resort

This was a fabulous resort. The layout of the resort was beautiful, three hotels within the layout was amazing. It was easy to get from one place to another. The food was excellent, the choice of restaraunts was amazing, the pools were beautiful. I liked that we could go to the quiet adult pool or the larger swim up pool. We ate at 4 of the restaurants and 3 of the 4 were excellent. The Italian, Spanish and Seafood restaraunts were amazing. The food was excellent and the service was great. We didn't like the Mexican restaraunt as much because the music was too loud and the air conditioning was too cold. The buffet restaurant was also good, lots of choice and service was great. We found staff at the hotel very helpful. We didn't get our choice of room when we first arrived but we spoke to the front desk and asked if they could change it. We had asked for 2 beds and to be on the second floor. They were able to accomodate us after we were persistant which was appreciated. There is even snorkeling off the beach. I think this resort has almost everything. The only complaint I have is that wifi is not available unless you pay extra. I think this should be included.

A very pleasant surprise!

The Barcelo Maya Beach Resort is a fabulous place. Many pools, bars, restaurants, and paths to explore. Our 2 year old grandson just had a ball in the children's pools. The staff was very helpful. The grounds are well groomed. The rooms were great. Overall a great experience and we are planning a return in the future.

Good resort

Good hotel food was good service was good a relaxing holiday relaxing time on the beach and pools went to town the last two days love the mall in the resort and the market mini golf didn't think you should have to pay for bowling and the water park the al- carts were very good

Memorable Return to Riviera Maya

After many years a return trip to the Riviera Maya was a memorable vacation. Location of the Beach Maya is great, close enough to Playa, local Cenotes, snorkelling, and ruins such as Tulùm, but separate from the noise of Cancun. White sand beaches, swimming right along the Beach Maya's shore, or plenty of well maintained pools to stay cool. This location is great and offers something for everyone, but was too expansive to be a quiet retreat. With full occupancy exceeding the population of hometown ! Large groups made accommodations noisy. All in all an enjoyable vacation.

Absolutely amazing vacation!

Couldn't have asked for better for our first all-inclusive vacation. Everything was so well organized for the travel. The resort was wonderful and clean. The staff was so friendly. There was so much to do if you wanted to. We'll definitely be back!

Every thing was perfect.

I loved everything about this resort. It was the perfect vacation. The beach was fantastic, the grounds were spotless, and the food superb. The employees were incredibly friendly. The gym was well equipped and spotlessly clean.

Wonderful week!

We are fresh from a trip to the Maya Beach Resort and we have nothing but good things to say! The complex itself is huge with many activities to do throughout the day and night. The access to the different hotels was great--we were never bored of the people or surroundings! The buildings and grounds were clean and well maintained--very modern! The food is excellent with lots of choice at the buffets. The staff were mostly all very friendly and accommodating. I suppose the only negative thing we  [... read more]could say is that our bags initially took a while to get to our rooms (so we just went back and grabbed them ourselves), our room did not get cleaned one day (had to go on a fresh towel hunt), and the hot water was out for about 12 hours one day. We are fairly laid back people so for us, this was small potatoes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this resort if you enjoy a more lively scene.

We like the ocean there!

the food and service are OK. there were a few excellent people on staff but not all therefore we did not tip as much as usual. we are not to tip but you do not get the service at the bars or room drinks and food ( chips) unless you do.

Great for kids - but resort tries to take advantag

We were there in Februrary - I have 4 kids -they loved it. Friendly staff, great pools and slides. The hotel tried to overcharge us when my husband, who was in a car accident, couldn't come with us the last minute. They wanted to charge us an extra $5000 for the exact same room we reserved 10 months ago if he did not come (even if all 5 of us in the rest of the family still came as planned) , or if another person came in his place. This is the one reason I will not return to this resort. They tr [... read more]ied to do the same with my mom. It took a real fight. I cancelled the family room altogether, and had to rebook my holiday through a last minute tour operator. This resort tries to take advantage of travelers. We booked almost a year in advance, and wanted the same room - with the same number of travellers in my family - but because ONE person's name changed (meaning my husband could not come, so my nanny came instead) they said I can only have MY room if I paid an additional $5000. Insane. No thank you. Brutal management. Too bad, as it would otherwise be a nice resort. Oh, and 10 people, of 20 got sick - throwing up and diarrhea.

Awesome resort

this was our first time in Mexico,but not the first time at a Barcelo...but this one at Riviera Maya beach was super clean and the staff was very friendly....food was ok lots of choices we always found something to eat..pools are very nice and clean,the best beach was at the maya beach resort just sand,and if you like snorkeling infront of the tropical and the palace is a good place to go to see lots of fish,stingrays and sea turtles...

Amazing Vacations at Barcelo Maya Beach Resort

My niece (16years old) and I went to Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The Barcelo Maya Beach was a excellent resort, the staff were friendly and always helpful, food was great and the beaches were 5 star, I would definitely be back again and would recommend Barcelo to any one who wants to go to the Mayan Riviera

Relaxing Holiday w/ amazing food/drinks

We just returned from the Barceló Maya Beach. Travelled with 4 adults and a 9 month old. The hotel recently went though major renovations as everything looked new. BOOKED: Krysti Coronios helped us. She was absolutely amazing and went above AND beyond my expectations. Will be calling her again and recommend her service. (Thank you again!!) BEACH: Gorgeous beach. The area is experiencing a MAJOR SEA WEED issue. We were assured the staff cleans this regularly. NOT the case. As the fresh stuff comes in you can see the other older piles that have shriveled up and clearly were lying around for days. Once you get past the first couple of meters the ocean is super clean and nice. So it’s a small inconvenience BUT not a huge problem. Bring water shoes. ROOM: We stuck with a standard room and I am glad we did as there are no ocean views here; just pool views with a sliver of an ocean from a distance. Unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, save you money. The water pressure is amazing, bath tubs are standard with two shower heads and the plumbing works perfectly. The king size bed, in an actual king size (not 2 beds put together). Room equipped with a flat screen TV and a mini fridge with various coke products, nuts and beer (replenished daily. DAY ENTERTAINMENT: Surf riding lessons are available for $15-20 US per hour. Super fun. Your muscles will be hurting the next day. Husband wiped out bad and got whip lash. Be careful but try it. Kayaks, paddle boarding, catamarans are free just need to get a time slot (open until 4:30pm). They have a dolphin pool. Same prices as everywhere else to swim with the dolphins, but you don’t lose a day commuting as the pool is within the Barcelo complex. NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT: There are 2 theaters super close to each other. If you don't like what one has, just walk over to the other. There are 2 clubs. Jaguar and One. Both are huge and had very little people dancing in there, but were super nice. FOOD: Seriously amazing. If you are a huge sea food person, they have a sea food night with full size lobsters and lobster tails - all you can eat. Went to the Mayan many times, never seen this at the buffet. Needless to say, don't book a la carte on sea food night! Tokyo A La Carte = amazing. La Fuente A La Carte = great. Mecico Lindo A La Carte =to die for Steak House A La Carte =ok. For an additional $20 US/person you can use the restaurants at the Palace. Make a reservation at the Brasserie (French restaurant). Won't regret it!! Breakfast and Lunch Buffet were the same every day. Huge selection, but food was just ok. MALL: Yup, they have a huge mall with free wi-fii from 10am-noon. Lots of shops from bikinis, to bath bombs, trinkets and everything else you can think of. They have the same trinkets at the airport, but for ½ the price so purchase here. Best Resort Ever

Wonderful staff! Beautiful beaches, bars, and pools. This resort has all the facilities you will need. Food was pretty good too. Smoking areas are really nice if you are a smoker. I can't really complain about anything except for the doctor at their hospital! She was not very helpful. Also, if you want to buy gifts, the gift shop at the hotel is much cheaper than the street sellers.

Our family vacation to Riviera Maya was a good trip overall. Stayed at Barcelo Maya Beach- fantastic staff from reception to everyone we encountered! Everyone tried their best, thank you all! This is a fantastic excursion, I booked it directly with the park! Spanish was great - especially with the Spanish coffee demonstration for us! French- fantastic Italian- not impressed at all Japanese- very entertaining and good food The grounds are very well kept, resort collection is huge, and makes for a good walk to burn all the calories! however there is no sense of connection to the place or people. Food: much variety, good quality however we were not impressed with the deserts! Beach: even though the beach front of the Beach Resort is the best, at the time of our visit the beach was unsettled with lots of seaweed and a mushy and smelly ocean front (for a few 1-2 meters in) once in it was clear and more pleasant. Other: Coupons: We did not see the value in them at all! Mosquitos: a real problem so make sure to have mosquito repellants with you. Mall - over rated and expensive, the Mexican mall further down is much more authentic and offers better deals. overall at the time of our visit we felt this resort had a great potential of being a 5star but felt it was 3.5 at best due to room accommodations and lack of entertainment.

Amazing resort!

This resort was absolutley beautiful! It was about an hour drive from the Cancer airport, but we'll worth it! From the minute we checked in the staff was so nice, always asking if we needed anything. The resort I'd absolutley stunning, the staff is constantly cleaning the place, there is never apiece of trash on the ground or a piece of grass uncut!
