Just OK

Great beach - beach huts could use some work. Rooms are tired. Hot water is hit and miss. Restaurants are good; buffet is so so. Staff do their best with what they have to work with. Sat next to a coffee stain in the lobby for 5 days.

Great resort, just needs a little tlc

I would like to first start off with noting that I did enjoy my stay here and would most definitely come back again! Hopefully with a few small improvements (such as the ones I list below) this place can be great once again and function at it's full potential. It's not that far off from doing so either. Now on to my observations which I have also posted on Trip Advisor (along with photos): Room: The room had everything we basically needed. The room was also kept clean by our maid and she always made sure to give us a bottle of water each day along with fresh towels and sheets. We greatly appreciated this! Rooms also have a fridge which we kept our water in and any drinks we bought, but for management’s sake I think it would be nice to consider filling these fridges up with at least a soda or two and put the bottle of waters in them. Just a thought. My only pet peeve with the room would come down to the bathroom. The bathtub in our room easily needs to be replaced as there were some rust spots, and something needs to be done about the hot water. It always seemed like between 5 pm – 7 pm that there was basically no hot water. Now I’m a realist and I understand that this is the time many (if not all people) take a shower to get ready for dinner so I didn’t complain, but I just want management to be aware that something needs to be done about making sure hot water is constantly being provided to all the rooms. Food: Overall when it came to the food me and my partner found more than enough items to snack on and not go hungry during our stay. At breakfast you can find items such as eggs, French toast, crepes and omelets. There also plenty of fruit and juices to eat and drink. You can also have espresso or a cappuccino, but I preferred to get these either at the hotel lobby bar or the 24 hour snack bar (both very close to the buffet). For lunch and dinner you can also try grilled meats (chicken, pork, beef, fish, squid, crab etc.), as well as fried rice made with egg, pasta and pizza. Overall the food was more than enough for the two of us, but this is not the place for someone who wants more then what I described above. If you want a greater selection of food and condiments then you need to go somewhere more Americanized (i.e. Mexico or Dominican Republic). That’s the reality folks. But if you enjoy fresh food and fruits, and can do without the condiments (or don’t mind bringing your own), then you’ll be fine. I always say Cuba is one of the few places still where their food is fresh, gmo free and all that jazz. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts before it changes in my opinion. Beach: Without a doubt the beach in front of the hotel was amazing, and I spent most of my days here with my partner. I couldn’t have asked for more. There are also coral reefs in front of the hotel (about 15 meters away) so if you have your own snorkeling gear then be sure to bring it. You’ll get to see some neat fishes (especially if you bring some chum with you). Pool Areas: There are 2 main pool areas. One basically sits in front of the main building facing towards to the beach (this one has a swim up pool bar), and the second one is off the right side which is known as the quiet pool. I personally didn’t spend any time at the quiet pool, but it looked like a nice area to be in if you would want some peace and relaxation. Entertainment: As previous reviewers have mentioned each night there was a children's program that starts at 8:30 pm. usually some kind of dancing competition. This was then followed by a show for the adults which would start at 9 pm. Out of all the shows we had seen the Michael Jackson one was the best! Definitely make sure to be there when that shows on for that day, you won’t regret it!

Awesome Tryp!

Everything at the Tryp Cayo Coco was very welcoming .The staff was quite helpful and always friendly. The mojitos and cappuccinos were by far the best at the bar! The rooms were tidy as were all of the common areas.

So much fun!

The rooms were older, but kept very clean. The grounds were very beautiful with plenty of gorgeous flowers everywhere. The workers were very friendly and always willing to help in any way. The beach is beyond gorgeous with crystal clear water that was so warm.

Amazing staff!

Rooms where a little outdated but the beaches where beautiful! The staff was very accommodating and helpful when needed. Our overall stay was enjoyable . The pools were also a pleasure but weren't my thing. I prefer the beach.

Amazing Trip!

The beach was beautiful and you could walk both ways a great distance. I loved the quiet pool also. The food was good, especially the pizza, omelet stations. They also had fresh meat that you could choose to cook on the grill. My only complaint was that we had no hot water, but we didn't complain about it.

Old resort

Resort was old and needs renovation work! Service was average, not many activities were available/provided. Food was not the best, not many varieties of food were available. Beach was clean and beautiful, which was probably the best part of the resort!

Tired and understaffed

I love Cuba and enjoyed this resort. The staff are very friendly, however, VERY overworked. We found that there was always a wait for a table - wandering around a half empty dining room with no tables ready ..... The beach was beautiful and the pool areas great. Most rooms were very old and tired, but; you're in Cuba. They have an issue with mold though, which is not acceptable.

Fabulous cuban adventure!

Tryp cayo coco Resort was fantastic! The food was good. Al la cartes were fabulous! The rooms were clean, the grounds were beautiful and the pools were kept clean . Activities were great! The shows at night were fun . All in all it was a wonderful family vacation.

Best time

love it the staff are like our family we go a few times a year food depends what you like something for all we are always treated like family yes a few tweeks here and there but at the end of the day it is going home

Perfect as always!

Came back Dec 11 and planning to go back to Tryp in February! It was my 5th time in Tryp! Service, food, beach and entertainment is outstanding! Are you looking for a crazy parties? Tryp is the place to go!!!!

Cayo Coco TRYP -

Grounds: Very Clean, well kept. Public washroom: 4/5 Clean overall, owever some stalls were in repair. Rooms: Great Rooms, well kept, clean, great A/C Dining: Food was much better than Varadero. You could always find something. Pizza was great. Breakfast pancake more like a crepe so thumbs up on that, great French toast. I only wish the NIght Club was available more nights. if i wanted dancing or entertainement I had to take the excusriosn to the club or the cave. If I am paying for an all inclu [... read more]sive I should have the option to have the club available at any time, not only Saturday Sunday and Monday. Hard to get a Taxi/Cab at night in Cayo Coco. if you don't take the excustion bus you are essentially stuck on your resort and hope the club is open. THE STAFF: AWESOME, FRIENDLY, KIND, HELPFUL one of the best vacations I've been on.

Beautiful beach very nice people

Went to the Tryp Resort for 1 week in August. The grounds were kept clean the rooms were kept clean, however, the room I was given initially was awful cosmetically speaking. I was actually offended that I paid for a vacation and was given such a room. Once I complained it was changed the next morning. As well there was no one to help us with our luggage and we had to walk far to get to our room that was unacceptable not a good start to a vacation. A couple ladies at the front desk were rude and not helpful not a good impression for reception. It appeared that if you did not speak Spanish you were not treated the same. But the beach was absolutely beautiful.

Great resort

Great resort for the price, large open grounds for nice walks. Check out all the cool birds in the one pond and all the flamingos, take bread to feed them. Staff is very attentive. Pools are very nice, beach water is super, sand all the way out no rocks to walk on. A la carte restaurants were great, oriental was our favourite.

Tryp Cayo Coco

We had friendly and helpful staff. There were great activities for the children to participate in. We went in the slow season, so not all restaurants open, and a smaller variety of food available. limited selection. Bar service was quick. Restaurant service in the premium restaurants was great. The buffet service was great except for the odd server. Just like in Canada.

Not as published by tour operators

Food not served at protocol temperature and beef, chicken, pork meat handling requirements. Not as avertised and how can you market this property at this price point and call it four star. Would you send your family there.

Great Time

The hotel needs a little updating...the grounds are kept very well manicured...the beach is amazing...they need to do something about the water that surrounds the hotel - instead of using the spray for mosquitos everyday, maybe add the water to the waterfall under the lobby and also add a few fountains inside the water to keep it moving which would result in no mosquito breeding grounds...

Fabulous Resort

i thought the grounds were very well maintained,the entertainment was good could put more effort in notifying customers of what's up and coming.The food was very satisfying with clean areas to eat in.the 24 hour bar could be cleaner .The staff for the most part were very friendly and helpful in insuring a pleasant vacation was had by all.

Old resort but staff made the Tryp nonforgettable.

This resort is old. There was no air conditioning for a couple of nights and very little for the rest of my stay. It was very hot and sweaty for sleeping. There are some spots that the resort smells like septic. One spot is in front of a restaurant. This hotel also has a cockroach problem. The beach and the pools were perfect. It was clean and the sand was beautiful. The staff is what made my trip one to remember. They were the best. I feel bad that most of this review is negative but, I am bein [... read more]g honest.

Excellent Trip to Tryp

The resort is wonderful. Clean, well kept, friendly staff. Food is good, rooms are also good, if a bit dated. Would not hesitate to go back. Tipping appears to be necessary to get the best service, but overall wonderful week.
