Amazing week

We had a great week at Brisas Guardalavaca. The food was very good, staff was great, the grounds were very clean. The girls who are 3 years old got treated like princess and enjoyed every moment. We recommend this resort to families.

Brisas gets better and better!

This was my second visit to Brisas, was so happy to go back, and will again! The resort is very well maintained and always clean. Having the “boardwalk” right along the edge of the beach makes for very enjoyable strolls when going between the villas and main hotel or to a la carte restaurants. The staff are all very friendly and work so hard. We stayed in the villa section, which is quieter if you want to be away from the “action” of the main pool or lobby. The beach is amazing, we did a [... read more] hobie cat ride, and toured the waters in a pedal boat. The best new addition is the lobby bar upstairs which totally transformed the space to be more warm and inviting! We will definitely return again to Brisas!!

Awesome resort and even better people. Made lots of great new friends from afar and friends for life with people who work at the resort. Always clean and never any issues with service, food, rooms ECT..

Love, love, love Brisas!

We stayed from April 29-May 6 at Brisas. This is my 6th time to Cuba, but first time in Holguin or brisas. Myself, husband, and two sons aged 14 and 11 stayed in the villas. We really enjoyed our stay and one thing I have to say about the resort is how CLEAN it is. Food, entertainment, pools, beaches, staff, villas, everything was wonderful. I give it a solid 4.5/5 We can’t wait to return! Thank you brisas !

Keep a close eye on your luggage! :(

Hotel is lovely, but watch your bags! After checking in, a man (who we later discovered was Service Staff) 'helped' us with one of our suitcases....he then disappeared with it. :( Unfortunately it contained very special jewelry that my daughter had given me for Christmas. :(

Great place

Brisas is a great place to relax and enjoy your vacation. The people are very helpful and kind. They will go out of there way to help you. The rooms are being up dated slowly but all you do is sleep in them anyways as the pool and beach is where you spend most of the day. My 10th time staying there and would go back again tomorrow but I will have to wait till next year. Great Trip

We had our first all inclusive trip about 16 years ago and Brisas Guardalavaca was where we went we loved it so much we returned 9 more times ,had not returned for 10 years this year we decided to go back to Brisas and are so glad we did ,it is a very well kept resort the rooms are in some need of updates but really how much time when you are in such a beautiful country with great weather are you going to spend in your room.But lets face it the reason for going to Cuba is the friendliness of th [... read more]e Cuban people they are always smiling and so willing to help you.It is because of them why people return so many times to Cuba.

Very clean Rooms are being updated and with new balcony doors some beds have been upgraded Drinks are plentiful Food is improving fried chicken was delicious Entertainment Needs a little improvement to get people motivated join in Not enough beach/pool lounges but all in all great place for the money

Awesome resort

I absolutely loved this resort. The people are beyond friendly. The food was great. Had no problems with our room. I can't say enough good things about this resort. I can see why they have so many repeat travellers here. This will definitely be a repeat vacation spot for me.

Great Resort

Great Resort ... Beach and Pools are perfect ... Staff very helpful and friendly .... my only complaint would be the beds are to hard other then that the resort was perfect.... I would go again ... can't wait for next year!

Cozy, friendly resort

Hello. This was a smaller resort with lots to offer. The rooms are average, however the housekeeping service was excellent. My room did have a leak everyday in the washroom. Water wood poor out of the light when taking a shower or the above unit. I just placed and garbage bucket under the leak because I loved the view, the room didn't smell musty which is common in resorts down south, the AC unit was awesome and the beds were ok. We're not in our room much so with all the other great things I [... read more] didn't want to take a chance and room move to another room. The maid did towel art everyday. The beach was great and all none motorized sports were free, paddle boats etc. The food was ok, you definitely shouldn't go hungry. All service was awesome and had good English which is definitely a plus. There is a roof top bar on the fourth floor that was has an amazing view of the area and great to watch the sunset. You could always find and chair to use and no shortage of beach towels.

What a great time

Brisas Hotel is a very quiet and peaceful hotel, people who work here are friendly,and helpful.I definitely will come again,and I suggest people who like to spend good time and relax vacation, Brisas is a prefect place.

Wonderful resort

This was a great resort lovely staff great food beautiful surroundings Only complaint swim up pool bar in the villas should have no kids allowed. Due to many adults having a good time and having to watch what they say. People always in guard. Would love to go back

Great Holiday

Our 15th trip to Brisas and was excellent again. They make improvements to the hotel yearly and upgrade the hotel rooms. There were many new trainees to the staff to help everyone out. Biggest complaint is that local Cubans use the beach occasionally which is fine but they leave garbage on the beach when they leave. Also they run out of Crystal beer ( the most popular beer Canadians drink ) which upsets some people. Drink rum instead Another great trip for us

Fantastic Trip!

Our first visit to Brisas but won't be our last. We were impressed with the amenities, cleanliness and beautiful surroundings. Never went hungry and we were never bored. I see why so many people have repeat visits.

5th vacation at Brisas

This was our 5th stay at Brisas. It was a family vacation with 19 people in our party. Most of us stayed in the villa section of the resort. Our room # was 8104. Our room was very spacious, the air conditioner worked great, nice terrace over looking a garden and you could walk to the ocean in 3 minutes or go to the villa pool within 1 minute. The villa section has a small store where you can buy toiletries, water, booze, pop, juice packs, Hawaiian Tropic sun screen,diapers, shampoo, flip flops,  [... read more]umbrellas, bathing suits, towels, souveniers , ETC. The rate of exchange was 1.27 ( 100 pesos cost us 127.00 Canadian) The resort is very wheelchair accessible. (every set of stairs had a ramp as well) Our daughters & families stayed in rooms 115 &117 in the hotel. They were ground level. The rooms were not as spacious as our room at the villa. But who is in their room much anyway. (In my opinion the villas is my choice of accommodation) The food is okay. Lots to choose from at the buffet. No one should go hungry. Lots of selection.

Beautiful resort

Very friendly staff to help make our trip a very enjoyable one. Beautiful beaches and alot of seating. The pools were nice also. Rooms were nice and cleaned daily. The resort was very wheel chair friendly whitch was nice to see the only thing i found a tiny problem was the bathrooms were very spread out but all in all very nice place would return

Returning Guest - Still a Happy Vacationer

Brisas Guardalavaca, Cuba ... in a Wheelchair :o) I have had a spinal cord injury for 30 yrs at the C6-C7 level and am a quadriplegic. Four of my limbs have some level of paralysis, I have no ability to walk, and no trunk stability so my balance is shaky to say the least. Therefore, my review of the Brisas will be from a wheelchair users perspective. Holguin Airport - An aisle chair was used to transport me from the airplane to the airport tarmac. Two Cuban gentlemen carried me down the [... read more] airplane stairs. This aisle chairs are new this yr - previous yrs they only had one waist strap to hold me in unlike the one from Halifax where I had both crossover chest straps and a waist strap. Less secure - but we managed without incident. The Cuban airport staff transferred me from the aisle chair to my wheelchair. Did not have my wheelchair as in Holguin it comes out with regular baggage which is on the other side of Customs/Security. I was in an older airport w/c until it came out of the screening baggage area. Customs went by so quick it was like a blur. A Cuban airport staff member wheeled me through to the door set aside for wheelchair users where my Passport and Tourist Visa were viewed. He then pushed me through security where I had a hands on body pat down and took me to the baggage area. After securing my baggage he assisted me and my family to the exit. Without any mobility I cannot access the transfer bus to our resort so a private transfer was prearranged for me by my travel agent. The trip to Brisas was a quick hour. We stayed in the Villa Section. The entrance to the Brisas has an impressive curb but there is wheelchair access via a ramped slope. It is a relatively steep slope so those with little strength - like me - may need assistance. The Reception desk does not have a lowered section but it is manageable. Check in was relatively quick and we were led to our villa room 1107 without delay. ACCESSIBILITY IN THE VILLA - ROOM 1107 Entrance leading in to our room is a bit of a lip - enough that a pop up wheelie was required. It’s the difference between the marble flooring in the villa corridor to the tile in the room itself. The closet is spacious but the bar for hanging clothing is not lowered to a w\c users height. The safe is in the closet as well and was within my reach. The platform that the closet sits on prevents a wheelchair from wheeling in to the closet to get closer to items. The bathroom was large and spacious with a wheel in shower and plastic shower chair in the wheel in shower area. There was also detachable shower head and a spare w/c that could be wheeled in to the shower. WHEELCHAIR ACCESS BETWEEN HOTEL AND VILLA It's a larger resort with the main evening supper Buffet being on the Hotel side but Breakfasts and lunch were available on the Villa side. It's all ramped and one of my family members pushed me to the hotel side without difficulty. There's a walkway from the hotel pool level/buffet area that leads to an elevator so you can access the main lobby and other floors in the hotel. FOOD & DINING All of the A La Cartes were w/c accessible except for the Italian Restaurant at the Hotel which required climbing a flight of stairs. We were permitted 3 a la cartes this yr (4 in the past). Food was great - maybe repetitive for some - but the buffet stir fry and spaghetti stations were a big hit with us. We found Staff very helpful - always monitoring their area and taking dirty plates away/ refiling drink requests. This was our 5th visit to Brisas Guardalavaca so although not 100% w/c accessible it suits my needs and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone with mobility issues

Amazing

Have been to this resort 10 times and have never been disappointed. The hotel is being totally renovated, we were in a renovated room and it was amazing the food as always been good in this hotel always something to tempt your appetite. You can always find loungers whether on the beach or around the pool. It is a short walk to the market that is on each day. Paradise

Excellent hotel. Needs updating. Ceilings leak, we were in two different rooms and the air conditioner worked much better in one of them. Grounds are kept beautiful. The rooms are clean, comfortable bed, nice sheets. Many great bars. No big line ups. Courteous service for the most part. Beach and pools beautiful and kept very clean. Take a calculator when exchanging money and show them you are figuring it out. They will try to cheat you on that. Count your money after you receive it.
