Amazing Resort

The place was beautiful plus weather was amazing would go back again .Food was awesome also . Very nice pools also .Rooms were wonderful maid service was great. Entertainment was awesome . Cant say enough it was the best vacation ever .

Great Resort

Resort is very well maintained, clean. No issues with our room. Great food. Awesome entertainment staff. This resort does have a lot of stairs, so not for anyone with mobility issues. There are shuttles always running.

Beautiful landscaped resort

Arriving at the resort the lobby was beautiful, bright and clean. Check in with the front desk staff was a bit confusing, they didn't seem to be well trained in hotel reception. We were suprise to be charged $20.00 for the use of our room safe and to be told if we loose our all inclusive bracelet there would be a charge of $200.00 for replacement. Our room was nicely decorated and clean with a lovely balcony overlooking mature palms. All the pools and grounds were beautiful. Food was just okay b [... read more]ut the servers in most of thre restaurants were polite and attentive. The beach was a bit short and the ocean had a lot of seaweed, but still beautiful. We had a wonderful week relaxing in the sun but we will choose another resort next holiday in the D.R..

Good resort for the price

The resort was beautiful but very big and a lot of stairs. There wasn’t much of a beach. We like the pool so it didn’t bother us. The standard rooms are ok. Clean. The only issue was sometimes we didn’t have hot water and ac quit working. They were fast to fix. Upgrade if you can. If your not picky and don’t mind making a quick call. Then it’s fine.

Good for the Price

The grounds and food were great! The location is very nice and beach is wonderful. Very safe and nice place to visit. My negatives are the bed was rock hard - honestly, the beach furniture was 100% better, and the pools and pool bars all close early...lots of night life, not alot of evening life. It is a "timeshare" location, so some areas are much nicer than others, and they will push you for a tour and to buy.

Great resort

I really enjoyed my time at Cofresi. The pools were clean, there was a ton of space available. I went with my husband and two year old daughter. The people there were very accommodating of my young daughter. My only issue was that I had booked the VIP access. Turns out that only gives you access to the VIP beach. This is the only VIP access. This does not include the VIP restaurants. That is for VIP MEMBERS OR SHAREHOLDERS only. I wish that was made clear before. Also I thought that being VIP wo [... read more]uld get wifi in the room but wifi is only available at the VIP beach. Other than that it was a great place. Most likely will stay at more lifestyle holidays resorts in other countries.

Cofresi Palm Beach Resort Puerto Plata

Number 1: If you have mobility issues this place is not for you. It is a giant maze with many many stairs to climb to get anywhere. While the room was clean and quaint the a/c unit was so load you could barely have a conversation while it is running. We were without hot water one evening and without hydro briefly. Only eat what is cooked and prepared in front of you. The reception desk were very impersonal. The only 2 genuine people were our cleaning lady Maura and another large lady who worked at the main bar. Otherwise most were not enthusiastic unless you flash cash. Booking al a carte was so frustrating we just stuck with buffet things we know to be safe to eat. We kept being told come back at such and such a time to book dinners. Not accommodating AT ALL. If you are not a time share member be prepared to be treated second rate. 2 tiered system going on here. The beach is small and water rough most days. The same people took the premium canopy beds EVERY DAY! Beer fridge stocked only once with 2 beer. Ridiculous when this is all inclusive resort. Premium alcohol only available for time share . Even ginger-ale could not be found. Didn't take on any tours as have been to Puerto Plata before and too sick to take in the entertainment what ever that may have been. Most disappointing trip. No wifi available unless you pay an extra fee of 80.00 for the week. Not even available in lobby. CRAZY! Had Options Plus was to include priority baggage handling. Arriving back at Pearson was a night mare. When luggage finally arrived and definitely not priory they were filthy and damaged.Customs was a nite mare. Maybe think of flying out of Hamilton in future. Definitely would not recommend this place.

Mostly good, some bad!

I’ll start with the good, this resort is HUGE, so you can always find a restaurant and pool that aren’t too busy. The food was excellent except for the breakfast. The staff are friendly and not pushy when it comes to selling you time shares or spa deals. There’s lots of cats and puppies, which is a bonus in my books lol, the pools were a good temperature, the rooms were very clean, as was the rest of the resort. The bad was that because of the resorts size, there’s a lot of walking, whi [... read more]ch really isn’t that bad unless you have mobility issues, and there are shuttles available as well for most areas. But there was a lot of stairs, if you chose not to use the shuttles, it’s 10+ sets of stairs just to get from the beach to the main restaurant. The breakfast wasn’t great, there’s no bacon, or any kind of breakfast meat that looked edible, there were omelettes and stuff but I don’t eat eggs so I stuck with pancakes and fruit for the most part, some times there was syrup sometimes there wasn’t. Our room was right on the corner of the busiest road on the resort, starting at 5am the workers were zipping around on their scooters and golf carts to start their shifts and the noise didn’t stop until midnight, I would have been awake for a week straight if it weren’t for my ear plugs, so either ask for a quiet room or pack ear plugs (or both because there were lots of partiers too) because it’s ridiculously loud. Our shower was only hot at weird times of the day, definitely not in the morning or in the evening, I had to take cold showers multiple times until i figured out i had to shower in the day, when i should have been relaxing in the sun. We also found some things hard to find, like a small snack canteen with burgers and fries that runs from 12-5 everyday, inside of another restaurant (right by the beach pool) but the restaurant still looks closed when the canteen is open so it took us a few days to find it, and it was never busy so i’m assuming a lot of people didn’t know it was there. The whole resort is so big it takes a few days to figure out where everything is, but all in all it’s very nice, and once we figured out the quarks we were happy with our stay. (other than our room location, and cold showers)

A great vacation

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The buffets had variety and changed daily, restaurants served great meals....drinks were tasty. The staff were lovely and friendly and our standard room was nice. Dated, but very clean and had a nice little balcony that overlooked a pool. The resort is very large so we were able to walk around a lot without leaving the property. Beach is rather small compared to what I am used to and very big waves. Would have been fun to have a bogie board!

Decent 4 star resort

Pros: good beach outstanding personnel cleanliness both inside and outside the rooms hilly area (stairs can be a challenge) well maintained landscape location not too far from airport several very good "a la carte" restaurants (Indian, Italian, Indochine,...) NOT Impressed!!!! May never return!

Where do we start? NO HOT WATER! (building 204) 10 days was no pleasure! Staff/maintenance did not address. Everybody just shrugged their shoulders??? Cold water shower took about 20 minutes to drain from the tub. You don't stay in long when the water is so cold!! Mold was evident on the bath tub caulking! Not addressed??? Dripping water from the bathroom ceiling....the solution provided was "turn the air conditioner on!" We froze! It would have been appreciated if staff spoke basic English [... read more]!!! Very difficult to communicate with anyone.. A mountain goat would have difficulty traversing the grounds with all of the stairs. We required a cane to assist! Swampy sewage smells were abundant around the complex! Don't put 21 university students in the same complex unless you would like to be woken up at 2 and 3, and 4 AM!!! every night for 5 nights in a row!! A safe for valuables should be included in the inclusive cost price....not $3.00 US a night! The negatives far outweighed the positives at this location!

Great vacation!

Beautiful grounds, nice beach and beautiful pools. The newer, updated rooms are much nicer and cleaner than the older ones. Customer service could be improved. My boyfriend got food poisoning one night so be careful about what buffet food you pick, but overall great trip!

Nice Getaway

The beach has limited space and is dirty at times. The nice areas are mostly reserved for VIP's. The service was very good and the people working at the resort were nice. The rooms were clean. The resort is build on a hillside and there are a lot of stairs to get to the beach if you are staying close to the main lobby. The food was good.

Large and Hilly Resort

Thought the Resort was beautiful , lots of different pools . Both pools and grounds were will maintained. Food at the buffet and the 3 a la carte restaurants that we ate at were excellent. People were very friendly and service was always with a smile. Several previous reviews spoke about people pushing time shares, we were not bothered at all. Would not be good for people who have difficulty walking, or don't like walking. Beach is not great, narrow and about 1/2 mile long.

Friendly resort

The resort is good, very clean and well maintain. There is a lot of pools, restaurants and bars. Everyone can find what he needs - relax and tranquility, or party and fun. The animation is ok. The service is perfect.

Beautiful resort.

Not a resort if you have mobility issues - lots of stairs and hills. Beautiful grounds, Standard rooms are dated but clean - worth booking a junior suite as it is updated and closer to the beach. Friendly staff and food was good. Beautiful long sandy beach for walks and never a problem finding beach chairs. Sunday Welcome Dinner was unbelievable - so much food you didn’t know what to choose. Would recommend this resort and will return.

Great experience

The resort is huge and has lots of hang out areas to choose from to change it up everyday. My fiance and i both loved the food we ate at the two buffets breakfast lunch and dinner. Our room had some minor problems that didnt bother me at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful and i personally had no issues with time share offers. We booked a couple excursions and had a great time.

Great resort

Just got home from a 1 week stay at cofresi. Overall I would give it a 4.5/5. Beach was nice ! Pools were great. The staff was amazing, very friendly. Room was okay, nothing special but it got the job done. The buffet food was okay, the alacartes were delicious. Would highly recommend visiting paridise island for an excursion, it was beautiful and lots of fun. My girlfriend and I would definitely return.

Great Resort

Very nice resort but not suitable for Elderly or disabled very good food lots to do staff very good and plenty of staff did not get bothered by time shares which was good my room was in a bad spot not able to open curtain was right in front of where the time share people pick up there golf carts when we had concerns they were looked after immediately and not Dominican time lol we travelled with 14 in our group surprised by another 28 then the following week another 14 all in all had a great time [... read more] lots of shits and giggles

LOVE this place

I can't express how friendly, helpful and willing to make our experience just so incredible. The food, and service were more than we ever thought could be possible. The general atmosphere of the resort just wrapped around you and made you feel like everyone there was extra special and were to be treated royally. We can't wait to return for another pampering, oh-oh it' s starting to sound like we enjoy being spoiled, well, once in a while it feels really nice to be spoiled.
