Fantastic Return

This was our second trip to this resort, and i think we will be going back again. The people are the ones who make this resort so fantastic! While there a lot of construction was taking place however the staff did there best to make us feel very much at home.

This place was amazing !!

All the staff were wonderful. The beach and pool areas were great. Lots of available lounges. The food...was the best I've had in Cuba. So many choices and very tasty. The room was clean and very comfortable

Excellent vacation.

The hotel is very nice. The beach and surrounding buildings were perfect. The staff was very professionnal and nice. I really appreciated all the friendliness. They were always available to help us. We room was very clean and the food was great.

Disappointed

Resort and rooms even though renovated and under renovations is still run down. The majority of staff are unhappy anout something and are not outgoing or friendly. Not my job mentality. Food is poor even for Cuba standards, or non existant. Even fresh prep stations run out of chicken and fish and ham daily. Beer gardens 24 hr service ran out of beer. In reno area rooms still leaked during rain and no water no flush for toilet Air not cooling. will never return to this resort or cayo coco

Not bad!

We have to request for another room due to TV not working, washroom light is flickering and AC isn't working. Food is typical Cuban-not bad though they didn't have ketchup during our stay. The beach is awesome and the staff is courteous.

Great Time !

Hola: My girlfriend and I just did a short 4 day long weekend trip into Hotel Playa Coco. As returning guests we were treated excellent. The staff were more than friendly and accommodating. The Customer Service Manager, Aracely took really good care of us and was always a pleasure to talk to. The bartenders were great, always lots to drink. They are doing renovations in different areas of the resort, which some people complain about, but I think its great that they continue to improve the resort. We are the ones that will gain in the end. I myself don't have an issue with the food, just pick and choose what you like. Try something if you don't like it, try something else. You won't go hungry. The beaches and pools are just beautiful, it is what we come there for as well as the people. I love it here in Cayo Coco. We will go back again. Thank you to the Hotel Playa Coco and all the staff. Average Resort

I have been too many resorts and I would say the food and restaurants would rate at a 4 star. The front lobby was very nice and clean but beyond the lobby and restaurants it needed a little TLC. Pool was never too clean, but wasn't too important as I spent my time at the beach. Our room was average, but the air conditioner was not working properly and had asked 3 days in a row to be fixed and never happened. We were eventually moved to another room. Garbage cans were full and we had no where to put our cups other than on the sand. Pool bar closed at 5 and beach bar also at 5. I like to be outside until dusk and there was no where to get a drink other than the lobby bar. Wouldn't go back to this resort.

Horrible property

Checked in on a Friday evening. Looked at three rooms with no air conditioning whatsoever.The scent of mold was over the top on the ground floors viewed..Checked out the next morning! Far removed from anything to explore and or look at.

It's Cuba

Hotel Playa Coco held no major surprises. It is a nice resort, beautiful beach and the food was as expected. They are doing renovations through out the resort and some badly needed updates are being done. However, demand vs. supply is a constant issue in Cuba and there is not always enough to supply to meet the demand. A wise traveller would bring essentials with them, toilet paper, band aids, creams etc...don't count on the hotel store to stock these items. They carry very little in way of esse [... read more]ntial items. The staff are wonderful and try very hard. They are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and we had no issues with the services provided. Being on the Cayo, excursions are necessary to leave the resort area. Bring bug spray...even though they sprayed (fogged) 3x a daythe sand fleas and mosquitoes are out in full force. You can't escape them. I would go back to Hotel Playa Coco as it is a decent resort for the money.

Ok

This is my 4th time to Cuba and my 5th time booking with Trip Central. As my departure neared, the reviews for this hotel seemed to be getting worse and worse. I tried to switch hotels the week prior however it was going to cost me another $600. So, with an open mind and very low expectations I went with this hotel. I booked with Air Transit and have no complaints with the flight. Now for the hotel. It is one of the oldest resorts on the island and you can tell. The lobby is quaint but had appro [... read more]ximately 10 tables to sit at. If you didn't get a table, there was no where to sit. There was little to no entertainment in the lobby and not a place where you could mingle and people watch. My room was in the yellow building with an oceanview which was gorgeous if you could look past the rubble from a demolition of an old building. The room appeared clean, however I have bad allergies and for some reason my allergies went into full blown itchy eyes, and congestion each night at bedtime. I asked the front desk for a new pillow thinking maybe this would help but I was told quickly that that was not going to happen. Also, my toilet did work as long as you didn't put toilet paper in the toilet. Yep, even when you went #2, paper went in the garbage! The food...I am not a big eater or a picky one. I have never had a problem with the food in Cuba but unfortunately I had a hard time at this resort. On the second evening there, I went to the buffet and sat by the window where there were tables for 2. I went up to the small buffet, filled my plate with some rice and cucumbers and sat down only to look at the floor around me covered in dead flies. Not a couple, more like 50-100 all along the floors and window sills. Needless to say, I did not eat at the buffet for the rest of the week, therefore no breakfast for me. I ate at the Beer Garden and the beach grill. Had lots of hamburgers, and ham and cheese sandwiches! One of the saddest things for me tho was the staff. After returning from Cuba I am always quick to say how wonderful the staff are at the hotels. I can't say that about this hotel. Most of the staff seemed bothered? I went up to the beach bar once a day, once! and seem to inconvenience them by asking for a drink. I have no problem tipping, but give me a smile or something. I did not feel welcome here and it is another reason why I would not return. To end my review, I will say that the weather and the beach saved my trip. There were always enough chairs and the beach on the left side was quiet and had no rocks. I walked all the way down to the Pestana and to the end of the tip. Took me 3 hours, but I have to say that the Pestana and the Playa Coco have the best beaches. I will never return to this hotel and sadly I was ready to come home.

Un Bijou

Amazing beach, food variety exceeded our expectations. Great value for the money. We will definitely go back to this resort. It perfectly corresponds to our needs. The rooms were a bit outdated but clean.

Nice beach

We had a good time. The food was repetitive on the buffet. On going renovations our room was nice. Most staff very friendly. Yenny with customer service was awesome. The pool was a bit chilly but nice. The beach was beautiful.

Resort on the rise..

We have been to this resort before...They treated us wonderfully as returning guests, a little disappointed that the beach resuarent was destroyed in a storm but hey, Mother Nature is cruel sometimes. We were told that they are rebuilding and hope when we return they have it complete. Was also a little disappointed they took the disco out, we would have enjoyed an evening or two there. I have walked the entire beach and it is definitely the best section of beach. The staff is always nice and friendly and seem to enjoy working there. Was very pleased with Jean at St. Laurent location ( as always). We are going next year with a few friends ..here's hoping they enjoy it as much as we do .

Playa coco

the buffet was ok there was more pork then beef I did not like this at all. the entertainment was amazing shows during the day at the pool and beach and night entertainment the rooms were cleaned daily staff very friendly.

Wonderful vacation

We did have some bumps with our rooms, I was travelling with 3 other ladies. I did find the staff exceptional throughout, especially the entertainment staff. They were full of life and always found ways to get people involved. The rooms are huge and the biggest I have been in. Lots of variety at the buffet for all breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Good resort!

and night. Disadvantages: a lot of mosquitos,the toilet in the room did not flush on their own, we used a bucket of water constantly. Bead sheets changed only once a week and were not fresh, have many holes.We did not have receipts in the local bank when exchange of money.

Friendly staff

The staff was very friendly. I went with my five daughters ages 19 17 17 8 and 8. Although there was no kids club open the younger ones had plenty of fun in the ocean and pools. The entertainment staff was fairly good although some of the activities were a little difficult for them to get people involved. The nightly entertainment was ok. They did have 1/2 hr for the little ones witch they did really enjoy. The later entertainer was ok. The beach was fairly rocky and hard to get into unless you walked down the beach closer to memories resort which wasn't really that far. We had 2 adjoining rooms that we couldn't open till 1/2 way through the trip and only 1 working toilet between the 2 rooms which never got fixed. The food was ok. Not a lot of variety but saying that no one went hungry. Pasta bar was a favourite at the buffet and the pool grill hamburger and fries were frequented often by my girls. All in all it was a good vacation. Remember that Cuba is not as high end as some other places and you will enjoy your stay.

Good First Visit

We found the Hotel Playa Coco very good. The beach is excellent with clean sand, lots of chairs and shade, clear, warm, calm water. The renovated rooms are nice and we were very comfortable. Food was good and the service is fast and friendly.

Crazy good value for what we paid

Hi! We were at Hotel Playa Coco from Dec 2-13th, 2015. Overall it is really great value for what we paid. The staff made the holiday, with going above and beyond the call of duty. They quickly remembered our drink choice, seating preference and more. The beach was very clean, lots of seating and not overly crowded. The food was good, we could always find fresh cooked to our liking and lots of fresh salads. We don't typically go back to the same resorts a 2nd time, but would consider going to this one, just for the staff!!

Wonderful Expierence

This is a smaller resort and thus more intimate. Everything is walking distance and there is alot of construction going on. We all loved the resort and will return. Beer Garden was nice feature but is being renovated now, ice cream parlour was also pretty neat. Two pools were good but beach was rocky at the beginning. Overall friendly staff and they were helpful. Piano Bar was the best. Food was adequate for Cuba, they tried hard. Rooms were basic but good.
