Lovely but basic resort

The third time at villasjibacoa. Nice pool and beach. Some rooms are needing repairs but ours was in good shape. The buffet was just average but a la carte restaurant was very good. Some bar tenders were great while some were not good. Overall a very relaxed resort at a reasonable price. Nightly entertainment was better than I had seen in the past. Jibacoa is a great location one hour from Havana.

Good budget resort

good location new mountains and sea. Good enough rooms in the bungalow. Good food diversity. Sometimes shrimps, sometimes dorada fish, one day rabbit. Not enough of fruits and vegetables. No grill outside.

Great resort for the money. Fabulous staff. They make the place.

Very picturesque setting with the mountains behind and the ocean in front. Even though there is more sand than before Hurricane Irma, the Villas Jibacoa is a really good resort for the money. The staff are truly fabulous. They are what makes me want to go back again. The food is as good as any 3 star resort we have been to before. The bungalows are much better than hotel rooms.

Small and quiet

Hotel is older food isn’t great.. but the quietness was a nice change and the ppl are friendly!! If you go Havana is a must!! The old cars and scenery is beautiful. The beach looks like it’s full of coral. I didn’t get a chance to swim:( bad weather! All in all good time!

Great 2nd visit to this amazing property

This is a nice place to visit, relax and enjoy a break from the winters here in Canada. Overall, property is well maintained, our bungalo was very clean, everything worked. Staff are amazing and an asset to this property.

Location, Location, Location

We usually choose a well known resort chain and decided on the Villas Jibacoa spur of the moment after hearing about it from friends. It is a little gem, set on the best beach we have been to with a backdrop of forested hills. There are coral reefs just in the shallows but still accessable areas to safely swim. We are not snorklers but it was a popular past time for many and we did see shoals of fish from a little paddle boat. The sailing is great. The resort is immaculately kept although the accommodations are basic. The beds give a good nights sleep despite first impressions. Mosquitoes are fierce, beware early morning and evening. Used lots of Off and it helped. The staff are incredible even on Cuban standards. I believe it is a locally owned and ran resort and there is a real family feel and welcome. Plenty of food, freshly cooked. We dined off resort twice on recommendtions and enjoyed wonderful meals for 15.00CUC which included transporation and wine. The tower is well worth a visit for dinner at sunset. Very relaxing and quiet vacation.

Lovely,clean, friendly resort!

Once again we had a wonderful time! Super clean rooms, amazing beach and snorkelling right there! Food has improved since our last visit April 2017. I would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a quiet holiday!

Very nice resort

all was good.for what i paid it was an ideal vacation. the resort was clean and well kept. staff was helpful and pleasant beach and pool were nice .iwill recommend this resort and i will go again. .

Great resort for a quiet vacation

This is the second time we have been there this year. The food was better now than in January. They repainted after the hurricane and have added nice little touches. The staff are always friendly and want to make sure you have a great vacation.

We will return

This hotel is a very friendly welcoming resort. The tourists and the workers were both very friendly. The rooms were very clean and when we asked the front desk to repair the phone, it was done immediately.

My Second Home !

I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Despite some damage to foliage, which the gardeners were busy removing and re-planting, the resort is looking great. New planters in front lobby. Food was actually better this time with lots of variety. Rooms very clean. Bungalows 5 thru 10 still closed due to renovations from hurricane Irma. Resort has new manager and you can see the changes already. Hoping to be back in February......

Relaxation at its best!

Villa Jibakoa, tucked in between Havana and Varadero, was just what we were hoping for. Our stay was super relaxing to say the least. This resort is spread out on a meticulously landscaped grounds that makes you feel like you're not trampled upon by other tourists, and yet close enough to all the services needed. From the hotel management, grounds keepers, room service personnel, to the excellent food workers and servers, all staff were super friendly and seemed to enjoy serving the tourist.  [... read more] In fact my wife said that for her this was the best food she has had to date after nine different trips to Cuba. We visit over and over!

This is a resort for the regular person. A resort that offers more than just a vacation, it offers a family. I have visited this resort multiple times and brought friends and family with me! I always have a wonderful time and never leave disappointed. So much fun for so little money!

Don’t expect high end accommodations and exquisite food. But you can expect pure Cuban fun! The employees are so attentive and determined to show you real Cuban lifestyle. Laid back afternoons, ping pong tournaments, salsa dancing and poolside activities keep you busy all day long. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boating and wind surfing keeps the boredom at bay. If you just want a fun filled vacation and to share a drink with the locals, this is the place for you!

Wonderful resort to relax !

overall the resort is beautiful which is a 3 star resort and its right on the ocean despite recently hurricane they had there but they did a excellent job cleaning up and reopening the resort to bring back the tourism . staff and employees were all very friendly and helpful ... tours were arranged by air transit representative as being the very knowledgeable ! At the time of being there l had one bad day of rain and most of the time hot and humid beautiful weather ! swimming pool is big and roomy ! lots of patio chairs and huts , pool was very warm !. l recommend for first time visits and for me l certainly will go back again if the prices are reasonable packages and lots of Canadians and Americas as well other countries . my room was clean and roomy and l was facing back to the nature looking at the mountains , room had a few wall paints that needs to be repainted and bathroom needs more water pressure for shower , toilets needs better upgrade , outlets electricity is okay , tv is ok. patio chairs outside of room good to relax .... listening to the birds and watching the folks . on my next trip l will ask for ocean view room . that it .

Nice location

I was in Villas Jibacoa one month after the hurricane Irma, which had caused damage to the resort. The hotel was still recovering. I liked the surrounding nature, the beach wasn’t so good, lots of cutting stones, so entering the water to swim was difficult, only on the 3rd day I found a small place where there were no stones to enter the water. The staff was very nice. The food: sometimes I stayed hungry, sometimes there was something eat, and even it was quite good, especially the local [... read more] fish, or cakes, but the main problem for me were the flies all over the food. Grounds and gardens were clean and nice.

Great beach and reef, just no food!

I'm well travelled to Cuba, 10 plus trips. The resort was nice, great grounds, beach and reef! The room was decent. The problem was there literally was no food. Hardly anything got replenished, barely any fresh fruit, and when there was food the locals who were in the resort ate it pretty fast. We ended up eating at a few small Cuban restaurants outside of the resort which was fab! The location is great to go see Havana.

Villas Jibacoa

was there 10 nights in April, good weather, new pools [2] and deck all redone in 2016, one has walk in steps. Grounds well kept, also well lit at night, as is lobby bar for game/card players. Meals very limited choices all meals,, no variety, same every day at each meal a lot of guests said opened too late for breakfast and lunch, I agree. Clean, quiet, restful.

First, please note that while this hotel is often described as being in Varadero, it is about 1.5 hours away from that main Varadero strip, and about 1.5 hours to Havana. I met several people on this resort who felt they had been misled and were looking for the action and buzz of Varadero. The beach was clean. I recommend bringing rubber swim shoes as much of the frontage is sharp rock. I went for the snorkeling but perhaps I didn't go out far enough as I was disappointed. I saw a lacklus [... read more]ter grey fish, and then a very large barracuda on another day. Yet many other reviewers marvel at the snorkeling so take my observation with a grain of salt. There was a bad storm when we arrived which might have churned up the water. The staff without exception were very kind and helpful though I do speak conversational Spanish which might help. I was somewhat irritated as a sole traveler that when I went on the beach, I would be approached the by security (white shirt/black pants-walkie talkie people) looking for material things. They were the only staff to do so. There is an amazing seafood restaurant off this resort - about a 10 minute walk up the hill. For 15 pesos you have a huge and tasty dinner, far superior to the buffet which is the usual bland fare. This is not a resort for people looking to party, or to take a local bus to see the sights (such as in Varadero). You are at the mercy of paid excursions as the resort is in a remote location. Like myself, most visitors were over 50 or families with children. Some complain that the Cuban locals "take over" the resort. I remember the days when locals weren't permitted on their own beaches nor to speak to tourists, so I found this refreshing. Unlike other Cubans you might encounter off resort, they don't ask you for material things - they are there to enjoy their vacations with family. If you are looking for quiet, to decompress, to swim, to reconnect with a partner, to meditate, or want to try solo travelling for the first time, this IS THE PLACE.

Awsome staff, good food, love the villas, quiet, very clean ,good for hicking, with restaurants outsde the resort in walking distance ,close to SantaCruz where yo can take the bus and go shopping or to the bank where you can use the ATM, I will go back again .
