Beautiful resort!

The staff at Cayacoa were so friendly, there was lots to do, the rooms were spacious and clean. We thought the food was excellent, best Piña Coladas I have ever had! The resort was beautiful and scenic sitting atop the cliff. The elevator down to the beach was a nice feature. Neither the beach nor the pools were ever super crowded. Great resort!

Bahia Principe Clubs and Resorts - Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa The Gran Bahia Principe had a very nice setting, along a very hilly waterfront...there is no elevator in these buildings, which did not bother us, but there were also many stairs to climb, so being physically fit is an advantage. There were a variety of pools and two small ocean fronts to lounge or swim. We asked to be moved to another floor and staff were very helpful locating a third floor room- offering both privacy and lovely view of the little bay and the ocean to our front. The staff were pleasant but not always attentive to guests at the restaurants. We sometimes had to ask servers to bring us beverages, which seemed odd as this should have been something done automatically, in my opinion. And this was in the more attractive featured restaurants. At the main restaurants in the main building, staff were much more prompt in attending to guests. At the cafe, there was a variety of drinks and cocktails offered but not a big selection of coffees. I also wonder why there was an extra charge for premium drinks when we paid so much up front, as this was supposed to be all inclusive. The alcoholic drinks offered, such as scotch tasted inconsistently different and not of the correct quality, I believe. It all depended on who was pouring. J&B and Johnny Walker Red scotch should taste consistently the same, which was not the case as I think the bar tenders were substituting with cheaper blends. The house wines served at restaurants were inconsistent in taste. One place would have a full bodied red and the next place something different. The white, house wines were also inconsistent in taste; sometimes good and other times vinegary. The food was good but lacked variety. We enjoyed grouper every day, but would have appreciated fresh shrimp and scallops and more types of fish. There was Mahi Mahi or Dorado, I think it is called, but that is too bony for my liking. The suckling pig served at New Year’s was wonderful. There was a small gym which I used twice. It was adequate but nothing special. I used one of the exercise balls for stretching and noted that the ball was dirty. I believe staff should be more attentive to cleaning equipment for guests. I noticed some Maintenance issues. I noted that there was a leak in the roof of the gym room. I saw a slow leak, dripping onto the floor near the larger weight machine. In my building, 3200…during a heavy rain I noted that the eavestrough facing the ocean in the right corner of the building facing to your front, when exiting 3200 was also in need of repair. I feel these issues should be addressed for safety as much as anything. The staff at the front desk were always pleasant and accommodating, my compliments to you, your front end and other staff. Everyone was pleasant, from the groundkeepers to housekeeping. We appreciated the shuttle service whether to our building or to town. We liked our stay and will come again. My suggestions are not meant to be total criticisms, but opportunities for improvement. As a friendly suggestion, send your leaders/managers to Mexican 5 star resorts for a week, so that they can see for themselves what a 5 star resort should look like.

Great views

Hotel views and staff are great .The buffet restaurant is small and very repetitive but the food was ok. the seafood restaurant was very good and service was great. we ate at the gourmet twice the food was very good and the service was good and very friendly. The Italian restaurant was very disappointing with a bad selection and terrible service.

Wonderful Resort

Beautiful resort on the top of a cliff. Scenic views from everywhere. Food was great with lots of variety. Beach small but very clean. Rooms average but very clean. Not great for children or the elderly. Many stairs.

Amazing resort and beautiful location

I had a wonderful time at Grand Bahia Príncipe Cayacoa. The scenery was absolutely stunning and they had a variety of excursions available. The food was delicious and the service was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone.

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS

GROUNDS WERE BEAUTIFUL. VERY LUSH. ROOMS LARGE AND KEPT CLEAN. WELL EQUIPED ROOMS AND FRIDGE ALWAYS STOCKED. FOOD WAS OK. STAFF SPOKE LITTLE ENGLISH BUT STILL VERY FRIENDLY. LOTS OF STAIRS BUT SHUTTLE ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

Loved it here!

We loved our vacation here. It was the overall experience that made me give it 5 stars. In spite of reviews of the not the best beach, which is true, I still have to say the overall experience is 5 stars. The room we had was huge and had a view of the water. The beach does get muddy from the current kicking up sand, that's the only negative, but the great food and atmosphere of the entire resort itself made up for it in my opinion. This is our second time in Bahia Principe Cayacoa. We decided to visit this place again because of the amazing scenery. It's scenery will alway be etched in our memory and will make us to visit again in later years. As was in the winter of 2013, all services were excellent. As expected the weather was hot outside in the open to the point we were sweating under shades during day times. We were trying to cool off in the main pool, but the water was very warm that it did not refresh us. It seemed the pool water was not changed in timely manner. Due to small body of water, the whirlpools were even warmer that we thought they were hot in the afternoon. If the pool water was kept cool, guests during summer time would feel quite refreshed from the hot climate. We avoided the pool after the first try and stayed at the beach where water was cooler than the pool. Another reason we chose Cayacoa is that there was no sea weed at the beach. Over all our vacation was excellent in the resort and we decided to visit Cayacoa in the future. Thanks to all the staff who were always eager to serve us.

I was happy to spent a week with my husband! Nice people, Nice room, great food! I would recommence this hotel. The beach is calm and beautiful There is a lot of stairs and the service for the shuttle is not convenient...

Good value

clean good food friendly people nice resort for a family or singles or even a couple to visit like the other bahia princepe resorts however a little bit older hard working personel always attentive doctor on site and pharmacy near by over all a great experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely Resort--however food is not very good.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The only draw back was the fact that the food was not very good. Most of the food served at the buffet was cold, especially the food at the buffet restaurant at the swimming pool. If the quality of the food improved I would return to the resort. This is the second Bahia Principe resort I have stay in and to be honest I will not stay in this chain again. EXCELLENT RESORT.

We have been to the Dominican many times, and this by far is the best. We had a few minor issues..a few times our room key needed to be reprogrammed...we stayed in one of the villas and if our card didn't work there was no phone on the outside to call the front desk, so my husband would have to walk back to the hotel to get our room card reprogrammed. Great place to relax!

The resort was great, worthwhile going over to Bacardi Island, absolutely beautiful! If you take a water taxi from the scuba shack on the beach be prepared to get wet, really wet! Alex on the animation crew is a lot of fun! Make sure you check out the pools at the garden rooms, it is open to everyone at the resort, not many people seem to know this because the gate has security guard at it, they think it is not part of the resort.

Grounds kept nice, hotel clean, but we had cockroaches in our room, we expected robes and slippers and a bottle of rum did not get any, television stations were more in Spanish and we had to pay for safe have never had to do this before, and no room service, only for Privilege we were told, would not go back to this resort but would maybe try another one on the same island. As well when talking to other people they did not pay as much as we did, if you want a beach is not a good one for this not [... read more] for walking anyway, punta cana better for beaches there, and would have liked more restaurants. We made reservations for one of the restaurants and we got locked out of our room, we had to call for service and my family went on to restaurant and we told them we would follow, apparently the people told them if we were not there in ten mins we would be locked out, did not appreciate this when it was not even our fault, sorry but was not really happy about this place, next time I will go back to adults only, when you work very hard all year and to be disappointed with it, and as well no internet, one hour a day by the time you got signed in was not much, have never had this before as well.

Nice resort

rooms were ok, had cockroaches everynight in our room, got a electric shock from a light that but a burn on my thumb, went to a fine dinner people we were with key would not work in room had to wait for maintance to come, got to resturant told us if they were not there in 10 mins they would not be allowed in and would not serve us drink, internet was not good, staff at pool and shows were awsome, we were not allowed to get room service, and we were told a bathrobe, slippers and free rum would be [... read more] in our room never got that.

,Like I said, this place is worthwhile returning.The time flew by. The view exceptional. Shuttles for the mobile challengedThe service exceptional and the staff very polite. The place was exceptionally clean. Samana itself has a lot to see.

Beautiful View

First time to Samana and the views were very beautiful from hotel over looking the ocean. The resort is on a cliff so you need to take elevator to beach... Beach was not that big and like most other resorts, had to get there early to 'reserve' chairs. ( oh I forgot you can't reserve...ya right! ) There is also another beach on the other side of the resort, but the water looked kind of muddy from the waves. Lots of stairs to get around resort, so if you have health problems where that might affec [... read more]t you, might want to consider another resort. Food at buffett was not always the hottest, but you could always find something good to eat. We only went to one of the 3 restaurants...La Orquidea and it was very good...we were surprised at how good the beef was. We were surprised at some of the staff not speaking english, considering that many people that travel there are from Canada or US. Really was not a problem and actually had some fun conversing. Not sure if we would go back, not because of the staff or food, and even though the views are amazing, the beach just didn't cut it for us.

Absolutely fantastic Resort!!

The hotel was wonderful, the rooms were extremely clean!!The grounds were beautiful, the staff were friendly and a lot of fun!!!!!!!!The food was awesome. Our group will definitely be returning!!!!!!!

Fantastic trip

This was absolutely amazing from the time we arrived til we left. Food people and guests were all happy and very pleasant. Entertainment was good and the resort was beautiful.we would go back again.!the entertainers were fantastic. We did two excursions and the dominican is a beautiful place. Mountains everywhere. Scenery is beautiful

Did not want it to end.......

The hotel was clean, friendly easy to get around. The food was exceptional always something new to try. Staff were all friendly. Entertainment Group was the best group ever, they kept everyone laughing and having a great time. We would go back to that resort in a heart beat and are looking at when we can go back : )
