Great Resorts, lots to do!

The resort was great, rooms are large so great for a family of 4 with small kids or older kids. Beach on grand side was amazing. The water was so clear even when you were far out. Tons of activities for kids and adults. The kids loved the splash pad. It was great for small and older kids. The pool has a section that is great for little ones where it is about 1 ft deep. The other part is like a beach walk in so also really good for small kids. The resort did have a lot of stairs so for those with [... read more] strollers, I would recommend a smaller/light stroller. The food was amazing. My only real complaint was that the restaurants only have beer and wine for alcoholic beverages. We learned quick to bring other drinks with us if that’s what we wanted! All in all a great resort. We went with the kids but I think it would be just as good for an adults only trip. There are a ton of shops for souvenirs, I’ve never seen that many shops on a resort! They also have a disco plus a separate karaoke bar!

Was not the same as 4 yrs ago

I travelled to this resort 4 yrs ago with my husband and it was terrific. This time I travelled with my 18 yr old son for a break from school. We asked for a room with two beds. We did not get that request and when we asked to change rooms they showed us room that faced another building. When I mean facing another building I mean 5 feet away. It’s great cause your close to the beach but your facing the kiddie area so screaming begins in the morning then and night the disco is just down the street so you get drunks screaming until 2am. So we did not get much sleep. The resort food was good so 4 stars for food. Maid service was not great. Since we did not have two beds my son slept on the couch so I gave him my blanket and a pillow. I asked the maid could she pls bring me a blanket. It was not until two days till she stated she could find one. My experience I would rate 3out of 5. Food was good room was nice

HORRIBLE 3RD AND 4TH STAY !! LAST 2 OUT OF 4 VISITS DISGUSTING

From having to kill cochroaches in our room, to the tubs not working to the very loud screech every time we flushed our toilet to the filthy dirty halls with extremely badly soiled carpets throughout to dirty dishes being left on hall tables directly outside our room for 4 days at a time to drywall/plaster in the stairs we used multiple times every single day not being cleaned up until our 8th day was unacceptable. The first couple times the issues were handled/fixed immediately with great results. But the last 2 times not even close to our first couple experiences here. We go to Jamaica every year for our anniversary, this was our 25th anniversary. We arrived to a room that was just freshly used, bathroom not cleaned, the towels all used and wet, the bed soiled, the fridge completely empty. We immediately went back to the front desk and waited for what seemed an hr for a new room. This time we were taken to another building and the view was beautiful but the room was awful. We requested soooo many times for a room change and were told to report to the front desk after breakfast one morning for our new room keys and info, when we returned we were told they didn't have any notes with anything we mentioned. Feb. 14th our 25th anniversary, we go to get in the jacuzzi tub and it doesn't work in fact it starts spitting out gross grey water out of the button so we had to get right out of the tub. Last year the wires caught on fire and filled our room with a terrible smell and smoke, we had to go out on the balcony and wait for our room to clear. From our first visit to this visit the vacations have been night and day, 100 % complete opposites. To save and spend $10,000.00 at this resort is soooooo sad and disappointing and a complete rip off. After this visit I would only have negative things to say about this resort. Not to mention when we left last visit we left an entire suitcase filled with things for a local person that hung out on the beach. He never received our suitcase. The person, the resort employee, whom is still there NEVER gave our gift to this person. The employees that are selling time share or whatever they're doing are relentless and don't leave you alone, from the second you get there, it's unbelievable actually. Every time you leave your room they're at you trying to get you to have a meeting with them to sell you something, (guessing time share). Not to mention how rude they become when you stick with your "no thank you". The staff were told how important this vacation was to us and never even made an effort to make it special even though we were told they would. I'm sure there are many other things I can say but I'm sure you get the jest. If you want to waste10 GRAND of your hard earned money to stay in a room with cochroaches you have to keep killing, tubs that clearly don't work, toilets that are broken, and staff that 100% lie to your face and really don't care about your stay at all then this is the place for you ! We finally realized after multiple attempts going to the front desk to get anything done that staff are clearly told to lie to you just to get you to walk away from that counter, I have no other explanation for this other then that. As it was many different people we spoke with and each one said that they would make notes and not 1 single one of them did. Jamaica is such a beautiful place, don't waste your money on this place.

Beautiful Resort, Beautiful People

The resort was more than we hoped for based on some very negative reviews. Wonderful views. Huge rooms. Food was good - a lot of variety. Staff were very friendly always smiling and helpful. Grounds and buildings were continually being cleaned and manicured by staff. There were two small beaches....sufficient for our needs, but, I am not sure if beach lovers would be completely happy since they weren't very big. They do have plenty of lounge chairs - best to arrive and claim before eight to g [... read more]et the ideal spots. There are a lot of stairs to climb which was to our liking. To be aware of: 1. BEWARE OF AIRPORT SCAMS - A man wearing the same uniform as our shuttle driver loaded all of our luggage on a trolley and would not let us take our own bags in spite of people asking to take their own bags. He told everyone not to touch them. He then forced our busload of people to follow him into the airport. Upon arrival at the West Jet counter he told us it was time to "Pay Up" He was very aggressive and people were pulling money out of their pockets to pay him. My hubby refused since he had already given the bus driver a tip and believed it was the same man. The man was bordering on abusive. We did NOT pay him. 2. West Jet Reps at hotel were not pleasant or helpful (they appear to be more interested in personal phone calls than helping people)..West Jet Check-In Rep - not friendly- no smile, no eye contact.

Amazing Resort!

Just to say that all staff were amazing. Great hotel and they gave us an amazing room. The people working there are enjoying their work and were so friendly. Usually we like to try different resort but we're thinking of going back there next February. No complaints. I don't understand people complaining about a crack in the wall or buffet food. It's a resort where there's a lot of people going through during the year. You shouldn't be spending your time looking at paint chip in the wall.  [... read more] The most important is to have a very clean room and a great pool. Thank you to everyone at the Grand Bahia Principe for our amazing stay. Looking forward to next year. Just want to be in the same building and same floor.

Amazing Resort

I had an amazing time loved the resort and the people. Would strongly recommend to others. I liked the food and the accommodations were very nice it was well set up and very organized and all the people were helpful. Loved it

Nice Resort

This was a beautiful resort. The beach was amazing, and there were always lounge chairs available at the beach and around the pool. The food was good. The staff was great. The entertainment was okay, could have been better. Would definately go to this resort again.

Great vacation

The drive to the hotel was long (over an hour) but we would do it again because we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. This hotel is huge but very well laid out with areas for adults, families and kids. Although the hotel was overbooked, it did not seem crowded. There were plenty of chairs around the pool and on the beach, both in the shade and the sun. The beach was sandy and the water clean. The food was very good overall. We found the choice of cocktails somewhat limited. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the entertainment. The weather was fantastic (hot and windy) everyday. We had a great week!

Very good

My opinion. Very good food entertainment, beautiful grounds. Nice guests. Ac a bit warm but a lovely view. Staff in dinning rooms and buffet fantastic. Sunset grill needs a bit refinement but ok. Beach is fun! My only negative comment is that the bartenders could be a little more curtious. Ya mon. All good. Irie mon.

Loved this resort

Food was great, staff amazing and looked after every need. Resort was spotless, only draw back from trip was experience at the airport, from the time we landed until we got to resort was 4 hours and had to pay $5 per beer on the bus while we were waiting for people to get through the automated system. Will definitely make me think twice about going back to Jamaica

Don't expect a 5 star resort but overall good experience

In the main lobby the resort posts 5 stars but the resort itself is not a 5 star. Like many other reviews state the resort is dated and in need of some TLC. Also very close to main highway, lots of noise from air brakes on trucks. We could fill a page with things wrong or broken in our room. The resort actually prevented chair reserving at the pool which was great, but often a struggle at the beach. Kid water park and play area of main pool often closed due to incidents. The cost of the resort represents the lower star level required. It was a good vacation but I would not return to this resort.

Overall a terrific stay!

Good: Decor and layout fabulous and timeless. While the resort is older, it has been designed with great taste.The a la carte dining was great, the buffet had great variety and was good. Activities and music great. Cappuccinos fabulous! Selection of included alcoholic beverages good. Great for family or adult vacations. Loved walking the resort and the beach. Much to see and do each day. Lots of room to have space or be social as desired. Great for families with young children

Hotel tired and worn , dark hallways and rooms ...a lot of stairs everywhere .. staff accommodating but you must dig the information out poor communicators... food quality and selection good .. alacarte restaurants hard to book...buffet management staff very rude ... beach area poor small crowded entertainment scattered pool bar service good did,t help It rained onand off over4 days

Beautiful ❤️

Everything was wonderful. The only criticism I have is bar staff can be bold requesting tips. But everyone else is super friendly!! Our room had a smell that improved with the daily cleaning but was back by the evening

Resort with Character

We visited this resort for our wedding. The resort was accommodating with friendly and helpful employees. The layout of the resort allowed everyone to get comfortable very quickly. The many activities, entertainment and amenities kept things interesting at all times. We enjoyed every minute.

Fun resort - not my style though

We just returned from our 1 week holiday. Overall I had a good experience at this resort. I typically wouldn’t pick a resort this large, I prefer smaller resorts. A few reasons why I didn’t love my stay: I found the staff rude even when I tipped them and went out of my way to be polite, the food was mediocre, I kept hearing how fabulous Jamaican food is but I wasn’t impressed by the overall quality, you can only book 3 al la cartes for an entire week - this is a major down fall. If you’r [... read more]e traveling with a group of more than 2 people, it’s impossible to get into the al la cartes at reasonable meal times, all of our reservations were 9 pm or later. They also messed up our reservation all 3 times so we stood waiting for our table for a while. We tipped our maids however, they didn’t clean our room every day and I continued to ask for water refills while other guests had refills provided daily. The resort is well kept and clean, the pools and beach was very enjoyable. However, I wouldnt return to this resort.

Bahia Principe

We really enjoyed our time at the Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay Jamaica. The staff were friendly, food was good, resort was clean, lots of pool area and chairs. The beach was not as good but this you can't exactly control, was rocky not as sandy as I would have liked. The restaurants were all very good. The shops were nice to for any essentials you may have needed or souvenirs. My only negative would be if you needed something to your room for eg. more towels of coffee then you would wait quite  [... read more]a while. I would go back again!

Best resort I've been too!

The beach is amazing cause you can go snorkeling right off the one beach (there are 2 separate beaches), The food is amazing and the menu changes every night, employees were so friendly and my kids LOVED the pool and kids water park! The only downside is that it's not stroller friendly and the resort is so big that it takes a bit to get to place to place but other then that my family loved it there! Definitely going back!

Beautiful Carribean resort

This resort has beautiful grounds and are clean and safe. The food was delicious at every al la carte restaurant as well as the buffets. I had asked for an extra a la carts dining and they quickly accommodated. The beaches were large and enough space for those that like privacy. The rooms were nice, a little tlc is needed but just minor things like loose shower drains and soap dishes. The staff were fun and energetic, Jamaican flair.

Take this as a grain of salt. Food was great. Beach was fantastic Pool was good. Room was good. Too much noise. Beach slightly rocky but not severe. Workers were very rude and pushy. Visit again....
