The resort is pretty nice, the grounds are beautiful. Lots of cool animals. We paid to upgrade our room which was a nice room but the toilet didn't flush properly. The upgraded room came with wifi and a safe! Down side was the buffet was awful, the only decent meal was breakfast. There was a lot of families there, it's not a place for people who want to party.
Everyone is pretty much in bed by 10:30, sky bar is pretty lame and the disco is even more lame, also empty! The lazy river was pretty[... read more] cool though. Overall I would rate this resort a 3... it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great.

Beautiful scenery and wildlife
My husband and I really enjoyed the wildlife, rio lento (lazy river) and the ocean. The downfall is everything is spread out so lots of walking, although they do have shuttles. The buffet food wasn't the greatest either.

Great resort!
The resort was very good for an all inclusive compared to resorts in Cuba and Jamaica that I have been to. The food was very good, tasty and the specialty restaurants were a nice break from the buffet. The Brazilian restaurant was our favourite. For breakfast or lunch there were plenty of options. You can get lunch at the beach barbecue, main buffet, or the pool restaurants. The resort has 2 sister hotels, we were in the Mayan Beach, and could easily have breakfast and lunch near the pool ar[... read more]ea without walking to the main buffet. Resort is large, lots of walking but good shuttle service. The beach...you NEED WATER SHOES.. we chose the resort for the off beach snorkeling, and it is very rocky as expected. With water shoes there is no problem. We saw the turtles off the beach, even just looking in from the shore. Some fish. In June, Mexico is hot, very humid and hot hot. Water very warm. Loved the skybar, sitting out in the evening. Lots of pools and choices to swim. Rooms are very large...BEWARE...bathroom is open to the main room, so no privacy. Loved having a concierge sitting at each of the buildings who can help with any thing. Saw monkeys and lots of iguanas all over the resort. Very eco friendly resort. Oh, they try to sell you time share....they offer you freebies and then say you need to attend a 2 hour tour of their new hotel. They ask you every day.

Mediocre resort
Didn't find staff friendly.. definitely our least favourite resort that we have been to. The only positive thing we liked was the beach, which was beautiful. Food was below average and the drinks weren't good.

An Unbelieavable Resort With Something For Everyone!
Let me begin by saying that we received communication from 2 tripcentral reps while planning this vacation. Sarah Drain and Diane Newick were both wonderful and answered all questions promptly. Thanks ladies!!!!
We just returned from seven days at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. What a fabulous adventure this was!!!!! The hotel is beautiful and huge!!!! We loved that quality about it because we are walkers and walked everywhere to try to burn some of the fabulous food the buffets provided. There [... read more]are huge golf carts that jet around the property and shuttle stops if you'd rather catch a ride everywhere. Plenty of drivers offered us a ride concerned that we were missed.
This resort had a daily schedule of activities guests could partake in every day. Dancing, Spanish lessons, air gun shooting, and archery. We did a few of the activities and I know that lots of other resorts have schedules, they tend to be a little unreliable. We couldn't believe how structured the schedule was. Staff was always on time and gracious. There's an ice cream shop and a coffee shop you can frequent as well.
If you are a 'beach chair' person. (We aren't generally) This time of year was a great time to travel because the hotel had enough traffic to keep all the a la carte restaurants open and activities going, BUT you could still get a chair on the beach or by the pool without any difficulty. This property also has SEVERAL pools from the party scene to very quiet. You will find your vibe very quickly. Snorkeling was great right off the beach.
This hotel is situated in a jungle area and there are nature paths you can follow around that were wonderful. They even have bike tours that take about 40 minutes. Tons of Iguanas and Coati's (Mexican racoon that is adorable) birds, a few cats are around but not many. The butterflies are amazing and we didn't have much trouble with mosquitoes at night. They are very environmentally conscious and do their best to maintain the eco system so if you think that taking a picture of an iguana eating french fries would be hilarious, don't do it. They work very hard to integrate humanity with nature, don't be one of the jerks that wrecks that balance.
The food was wonderful and the buffets offered enough daily variety that it was difficult to tire of anything. The a la cartes were good. Have the beef tenderloin at the Steakhouse. It was amazing! The drinks and the bartenders serving them were all great. I cannot stress this enough. Not one staff member at this resort has their hand out for a tip. We actively tipped all week 20 pesos to a bartender or buffet server and 40 pesos to the a la carte servers. 20 Pesos costs us about $1.63. We spent under $100 on tipping. TIP YOUR SERVERS!!!!! The staff is wonderful at this hotel and will treat you well all week but they work hard long days. Tip them, they deserve it.
Our room was wonderful and huge!!! We traveled as a couple but this Junior Suite that we had could comfortable sleep a family of 4. It was clean with a beer, soda, and coffee stocked bar. Tip these people too!!!! We left 20 pesos for EACH for housekeeping and the fridge person. There's also a concierge at the ground level floor of each building if you need anything at all. We had Mario and he was wonderful. This allows you to ask all the questions you'd like without having to spend a lot of time walking or calling to the front desk. I do suggest reading the guide provide in your room. It will clear up any and all questions you might have.
We loved Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. We are hoping to go again next year at the same time and bring my stepdaughter along who is 13. She'd love the place too I am certain. We also chit-chatted with several guests who have been back again and again. We hope to be those people as well!!!!!

Not the vacation we had hoped for or worth what we paid. Disappointed Honeymooners.
The resort had its pros, but the cons outweighed them by far. First of all, we did extensive research on the resort before purchasing our package as this was a very special trip for us being our honeymoon. Both of us had been to Mayan Riviera in the past and knew exactly what we should expect while visiting. Overall, we are just disappointed in what we got for what we paid. The resort is no where close to a 5 star but has the potential to be one.
Pros:
- Room was amazing, it was big with lot[... read more]s of room and very clean! The room was looked after and cleaned every single morning (fresh towels, towel art, beds mad, bathroom cleaned, fridge stocked, etc). Cozy and comfortable beds!
- Breakfast was the best meal of the day, although the waiters seem understaffed as I had to get my own cup of hot tea more than half of the trip after waiting for over 15 minutes after asking a waiter for one. I understand maybe not getting this served during lunch or dinner but for breakfast I would have higher expectations. The food was delicious, all of the fruit was fresh and there was always a lot to go around. Lots of variety and very comforting food.
- The Spa, this was an extra expense so I can't consider it something that you would experience if you just got a basic package but honestly so worth the money! The spa is like no experience we have ever had, it is set apart from the resort in the jungle atmosphere, very clean and relaxing and everyone was professional and accommodating!
- Coffee Shop, this place was awesome! The girls were very friendly and did an excellent job taking care of visitors. The drinks were delicious and always fresh.
- The grounds were for the most part very clean and the landscaping was beautiful. Very well taken care of and always people working hard to keep it in top shape.
- Shuttle service is pretty good! They will take you wherever you want to go!
- Our main air transat rep was great (he's from France) but the other guy working was really unprofessional and impatient with guests.
Cons:
- We arrived at 1pm local time, check-in was not until 3pm local time so we were forced to walk around while our luggage was unattended in the parking lot as they would not let us bring it with us. This was extremely inconvenient as we had medications that we required to take as were both sick at the time. On top of this, they didn't even had the room ready until the very last second that we were allowed to check in. The attendant was still cleaning the room as we arrived (keep in mind every morning we were there our room was cleaned between 8-9am). This was not a good start to our trip after such long travel hours. Check out for most flights are typically in the morning, so our room should have been available. They did try to move us to ocean view for a price because they appeared to be a little over booked.
- Lunch and dinner were not great. The food was presented well but the quality was not like other resorts. The food is very mediocre, there is nothing special about it at all. We have had better food at other resorts in Mexico of less status. We were only allowed 3 alacartes so it was hard to find variety in our meals. Sometimes we didn't want to eat dinner because of the food quality. We ordered room service on second last evening and my husband got sick immediately after ruining our last day at the resort. We tried to buy extra alacartes but they would not let us as they said the alacartes were completely booked, every evening we walked by them and they were typically half empty. Huge disappointment.
- Staff were not overly friendly or courteous, they did not really go above and beyond for anyone. The waiters/waitresses were not great, again, they really had an issue getting us a beverage with our meal. There were maybe three nice waiters that we encountered. They seem understaffed for the quantity of guests during meals. Saying that, the Spa staff were incredible and helpful! The supervisor was great at the front desk as well. Bar staff were not friendly.
- This resort should be advertised as a family resort, we spotted maybe a handful of single couples but the resort was mainly children and young families. This would have been okay had there been somewhere that was allocated to adults but this was not the case. There were no rules that kept kids from disrupting other guests, an example, the lazy river was constantly being disrupted by kids either knocking your tubes or just disrespecting the area.
- Akumal beach is now closed to all tourism and site seeing as previous tourists have disrupted the turtles and other wildlife. This is not the resorts fault in anyway but worth mentioning as we had planned on experiencing this once in a lifetime opportunity. You can now pay for a $70 US excursion with $10 tax on top to possibly see turtles in another location. We did not see any turtles :(
- The beach is very rough, a lot of rocks and coral. You have to swim very far out to snorkel, there are a few fish close to shore but the waters are very so we did not feel comfortable going out too far. Would have been nice to take out a paddle boat or kayak to get to a good snorkelling location but there never seemed to be anyone working the desk on the beach and it was not advertised.
Honestly, we came home very relaxed but we are disappointed with our experience. For the price we paid, we would not go to this resort again. The resort needs to focus on better serving a large amount of people with the staff that they have, we really felt that our money was not well spent and we were dismissed. We are not that fussy when it comes to travelling as we travel all the time but this would be by far our worst experience with an all inclusive.

First Trip to Mexico
This was our first trip to Mexico. No expectations, but after having read many reviews and doing some research, we were anticipating a wonderful holiday at a 5-star resort.
Check-in was very disorganized - we were booked into the Riviera Maya side, but were dropped off at the Mayan Beach lobby, which was not a problem, but then we (not the staff) were sent back and forth between the lobbies trying to arrange the keys (and with automated key cards, I don't understand how this was even an issu[... read more]e). Our room wasn't ready until 3 pm - again, not an issue. We spent the time having lunch and exploring the grounds.
Once our room was ready, we were transported by shuttle, and the driver made it very obvious he wanted a tip as he waited for several minutes after depositing us and our luggage into the room. Not very subtle.
HUGE rooms! Having stayed at several other all-inclusives down south, we were amazed at how big the room was! Lots of space and very clean (our housekeepers were fantastic).
The (over?) abundance of food was incredible. We couldn't believe how much food there was, at all hours The main buffets served almost anything you could think of, and the themed nights were charmingly presented (including decorations and waitstaff in costume). No complaints. We went to 2 a la cartes (the steakhouse and the Japanese); both were recommended to us and both were delicious.
The main pool (Riviera Maya side) was always busy and, in my opinion, too full of kids. Yes, I realize this is a family resort, but there is a dedicated kid zone (complete with pool and playhouse), so I was confused as to why so many activities were kid-oriented at the main pool. We have been to resorts where there is no dedicated kid zone, so it makes sense that the main pools are filled with kids, but this resort has such an area. The entertainment staff were enthusiastic, especially with the kids, but not in the in-your-face obnoxious way, which was appreciated. The lazy river was also a nice little change.
The nightly entertainment was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed every night (we did not stay for the one night that brought 4 couples on stage) and were very impressed by the sets and costumes. We heard from others who had been to this resort before that they have been performing the same shows for the past 8 years, so perhaps the choreography could be a bit better, but overall very good.
In general, the staff were friendly and polite, but they did not go out of their way to be sociable.
Our only real complaint was with the concierge. Not necessarily with the two that we dealt with specifically, but how our evaluation was dealt with. Both Natalia and Ruben were extremely polite, friendly, and helpful. After booking our a la cartes and chatting with them on several other occasions, they asked us to fill out an evaluation for them. We agreed, as they had been very nice and helpful. The following day, Natalia approached us (actually, called out to us as we were on our way back to our room from the pool) and asked us if there was a problem. We said no, and asked why. She told us that she and Ruben had been called into the office and "gotten in trouble" because we had rated them so low on the evaluation scale. My first thought was that I had mis-read the scale and accidentally reversed the numbers. But she continued, saying that because we did not give them a perfect score, they were now at the bottom of the rating our of all the concierges. She asked that if there was no problem, if we could please re-rate them and give them a perfect score. As the scale was only 1-4, it was not a fair rating system anyway. She told us that if there we no problems, we should give them a score of 4. If there was a problem, to let them know and they would fix it. We were shocked for several reasons: 1) We could not believe that we had been approached by her about this, 2) We could not believe she was actually TELLING us to give them a perfect score, and 3) We believed we gave a fair rating. Never in all of our trips down south had something like this ever happened. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Evaluations are personal and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. A 1-4 scale is hardly indicative of rating performance, but if the concierges are going to "get in trouble" over not getting a 4 out of 4, the scale should simply be a "Good" or "Bad". Ridiculous.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but with the number of other resorts in the area, probably would not stay here again.

Terrible place for the money. They should be ashamed
I am currently staying at the Grand Sirenis with my family room in the 1100's.(more about that later) and thought I would give an honest account of our holiday so far, so anyone thinking of booking a holiday here, seriously considers otherwise.
I have been to Mexico twice before (Playacar Palace & Moon Palace) and have had an amazing experience on each of these occasions. The Grand Sirenis is poor in comparison and certainly is NOT a 5* resort that offers the Mexican experience I am used to.
[... read more]
First and foremost I have found the staff at this hotel to be extremely rude.
Initially, we were given the room on the ground floor . The golf carts ride up and down at all hours, we are seniors and couldn't sleep, and it was awful! The room smelt so damp, it hit us as soon as we walked in. The curtain was hanging off the rail.
Given my previous experience of Mexican hotels, I wish shocked that we had paid over $1600 pp for 21 people , for this holiday and this was the room we received. I then rang reception to confirm that I wanted to change rooms because of the noise and we are almost 90 yrs old.
Whilst the room and the customer service are the worst things I have experienced on this holiday; there are a few additional pointers that I feel would be pertinent to add when reviewing this hotel:
1. At other hotels I have stayed at in Mexico, I have had a well stocked mini bar with a mixture of beers and spirits. At the Grand Sirenis you receive two bottles of beer per day and some soft drinks. The worst beer you ever tasted. If you do not like beer, then you will not be able to have a drink in your room unless you like pop or water.
2. You need to collect towels using a towel card each day. However, after almost a week here, I have seen the towel room open once. This morning I asked whether I could have a fresh towel and the guy simply responded 'no' and walked away. Myself and the queue of people that were also waiting for a towel were flabbergasted at his response and we had to go on sun loungers without towels as a result.
3. The food at the hotel is not good and the 'a la carte' restaurants are shabby. I don't expect gourmet style food, but even the simplest of meals are below par. I ordered a fettuccine pomodoro in the Italian restaurant and the bowl arrived and was half full of water. It wasn't nice at all! Each a la cart restaurant is the same room with the same white walls, with different pictures hung up. The menus are ripped and everything feels as though it needs a lick of paint/upgrade.
4. When you check in you are told that you are able to eat at 3 of the a la cartel restaurants during a week long visit. I'm not sure why this restriction is in place as each time we have eaten at an a la carte, the restaurant was half empty. No one told us that you need to book the a la carte restaurants before 3pm either, so I was less than happy when I went to my concierge at 3.45 one afternoon (you can't book these restaurants by any other means) and was told that this was not possible. I also tried to book the Japanese restaurant and was told that the earliest availability was after I will have left the hotel?!
5. You do not get a safe and wifi included with your room. If you want to get wifi, it costs approximately 700 pesos per week, per device.
6. The beach is disgusting. I'm almost 90 and the beach is very rocky. I could not go in without someone holding me. The rocks were sharp and large dive boats were taking up the only good beach area from 3 pm onwards.
I would honestly urge anyone who is contemplating a holiday at this hotel to look elsewhere as there are far better hotels available. The Grand Sirenis is not a 5* resort, no where near. You will not see the best of Mexico or its wonderful people this resort should be disgusted with the amount of money they charge and the services they provide. No internet, telephone, safe, no beach in my opionion , terrible food and the worst service.

Needs updating definitely not a 5 STAR maybe a 2 STAR
Hotel is huge. Not good for seniors... way to much time share (members only) events. Golf carts come only every 20 minutes even though all the members only carts are sitting around doing nothing they wouldnt take my 90 year old parents unless you show them money. The members only event says it's 90 minutes and the will give you a massage... BS unless you have your spouse with you they gave ONE spa to everyone in the group and the presentation lasted 2.5 hrs ....unless you complain they don't car[... read more]e.
The main pool was so loud from the entertainers you could hear them at the beach. Which was far. The entertainers were very good but way too loud. Bars at the beach and pool always had line ups with only 1 bartender serving and the rest cleaning or serving the waitresses. They re-use the plastic glasses and do not wash them very good. My daughter in law had lipstick on her cup... thank god we brought bubbas.....
Only 3 Al a carts per week , not worh it. Food is not great and your limited to what you can order. Eg. Japanese.. only one teppanaki chicken ,steak, shrimp.. can't order chicken and shrimp?
No free internet, charge you 10 USD for 30 minutes but don't tell you it has to be all at once... so you get charged even for 10 minutes ? Staff has very limited English.
No free room safe??? Really they want to charge for everything in this place.
OVERALL this is NOT A 5 STAR or all this would be free. Food in the buffet was good and sometimes better than the al a cart . THe beach is very rocky and cannot swim. Then the boats come in at 3 pm every day and take up the ONLY decent beach.
I will NEVER go back to any Sirienis resorts just because of this resort. I wish we'd spent the extra money and went back to MOON PLACE Resort. where all of this was free, internet, safe, resort credit you can use for excursions, unlimited al a carts, great food, golf for free if you want, great beach, every room has an ocean view with NO extra charge, no boats taking up the only beach. Buses that run every 5 minutes, free bus to cancun with no stops to jewelry stores and tequila shops ......NOW that's a 5 star. Very disappointed and it's sad because there was 21 of us that will never go back.

Great vacation
This is a very nice hotel. I love the architecture. The beach is very nice and the pools are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The big negative are the rooms. The rooms are ``fine`` and spacious but they need to be renovated for that hotel standard. The staff was very pro-active and efficient in making sure that everything worked in our room to our satisfaction but to rooms still feel old and ours was very humid and had a very strong smell of moisture.

Dream vacation!
This resort is so much fun! What I really enjoyed was the entertainment. From the sumptuous varied and delicious buffet dinners to the many bars. The dance troupe is excellent. After you get your energy up, Sirenis does not ship you off to a nearby town to dance, all you have to do is go a few steps to the sky bar where a dance band plays at least three times a week. The resort dancers also go up there, something I very much appreciated. We are active people and we love to dance. This was a wond[... read more]erful feature and could make the difference to my choice of resort. The activity pool had bingo, water balloons, and my highlight, a dance party with BUBBLES! So much fun.
Beach, so beautiful. I was a bit disappointed that I could not really see the abundant coral just off the beach sand while snorkeling. It was very windy most days and the corals were all covered with sand. A young girl showed me a 5 foot long eel basking in a tide pool however, which was nice to see. Also the resort is full of wildlife. I love animals and enjoyed the many species of iguanas, two kinds of raccoons, beautiful slim cats, (not neutered! tsk tsk!) squirrels, many kinds of birds, and very exciting, a wild spider monkey band.
The staff is abundant, and work so hard. They were kind and gracious and I tried to tip as often as I could depending on if I had the correct change on me. Perhaps a correct change option in the lobby? I felt the place was spotless and always being painted, and washed and groomed. The gardens are gorgeous and perfectly trimmed and cared for and healthy. As an acreage owner here in Alberta, I really noticed that.
The lobby I found cavernous and quite frankly, ugly. There was a proliferation of the Mayan pyramid shape everywhere, which is a cut off triangle shape. Not my favorite, but hey, art is art, right?
The shuttle service could use some organization as we do like to go to the gym every day and the walk there was 15 minutes in the blazing heat, which is draining for us northerners. I know, we wanted exercise, but we really were thinking of weight training. A shuttle that followed the schedule would be nice. We waited several times for the shuttle at the stop and they did not show up. Plus they were always coming up behind you when you were walking on paths about the resort and we constantly had to jump out of the way.
We greatly enjoyed our dinner at the gorgeously set Mexican restaurant, and the food was excellent as was the Thai restaurant.
The Brazilian restaurant was a let down for us. The meat was served very sparingly, and was often over cooked. I also felt the staff was not very friendly, the only staff on the place I felt that way about.
I also heard from another guest that the resort quality was not consistent. Perhaps there is more staff during high season? Understandable, but could be disappointing. They had come twice in a year and the second time which I will guess was Novemberish was a let down.
Our room was lovely and quiet. The cleaning staff was very respectful. Bedding was adjustable to your comfort quite easily with light quilt and top single thin cover with a sheet. I appreciated that as sometimes all you get is a super hot cover and one sheet. As a middle aged woman, I need layering options in bedding. We had a nice balcony which looked out onto a tree top. No view really, but I did enjoy watching some beautiful gold birds flitter in the branches which also had violet flowers in them. So lovely.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation, Sirenis! You are awesome!

Not recommended ... only a 3 star!
We travelled to this resort with Westjet Vacations Feb.4-11th. We had a direct flight out of Victoria there and back which went well, no delays. We easily found our transport to the hotel, again with no delays.
The Grand Sirenis resort is a large "modern architecture" looking resort. It was very clean. Check in was smooth and they accommodated our request for an upper floor room as we are always worried about creatures or bugs getting into our room if on the first floor.
ROOMS: We had [... read more]two standard rooms with two double beds in each room. There is an awkward large "frosted glass" wall between the bathroom and bedroom area which leaves no privacy for sound, sight or smell, haha! It seemed odd to us. The beds were the most UNCOMFORTABLE beds we have ever slept in in any hotel anywhere! The small couch was extremely uncomfortable to relax on and needs replacing badly. Basically all the furniture in these rooms are extremely uncomfortable and not up to any 5 star standard they claim this hotel to be. Our biggest priority on a vacation is being able to rest and relax and this was not possible in these rooms. We are not partiers so unless you're completely drunk and able to pass out anywhere these beds were the worst thing to endure for a week. We were very upset having paid the kind of money that we did. If you were a family with young kids having to be in bed early and you're stuck in this room while baby sleeps, it would be a long night! When a complaint was made to the hotel we were offered another room which basically had the same old bed (king size) and the frosted glass wall between bathroom and shower was completely missing which was totally weird! We said no we will just stay where we are, again being upset we paid the amount we did for a 2 or 3 star at best room. We also found a couple cockroaches in our room, I think because the resort is basically in the jungle hard to avoid all the bugs, but yuck!
POOLS: we stayed in building Akam which was right across from a great pool which also has an all day snack bar which worked well for breakfast and lunch (more on food following this). There were always more than enough pool loungers and room in the pool for everyone. The animation team seemed to do a great job keeping people and kids entertained with games and pool aerobics if you chose to join in. My husband and adult sons enjoyed the pool bar and everyone working there including their favourite bartender Carlos went out of their way to make everyone happy. There is a relaxation pool near the beach but we didn't go there as our sons were happy at the pool near our rooms. They checked out the other activity pool also and it seemed just as fun and similar to the one close to us.
BEACH: we were looking forward to doing some snorkelling on the beach. The entire time we were there it was so windy it was almost uncomfortable to sit on the beach because of wind/sand blowing etc and we couldn't see anything when we tried to snorkel. I brought my own gear. Some people were out there snorkelling but I'm not sure if anyone saw anything although some said there is a turtle out in the bay. I had no success any time I tried. There seemed to always be beach loungers whenever you wanted to go there. We ended up parking ourselves and the pool and just walking to swim in ocean periodically which worked well.
RESTAURANTS/FOOD: honestly we were really disappointed with the food. It was very bland and not very appetizing at all. The meats were often dry and any other stuff was mushy/sloppy. We had 3 a la cartes - Steakhouse was probably the worst meal we had there all week, including the buffet food. We watched them take meat out of packages (like wiener packages!). My husbands steak was a "white colour" and he said it was hands down the worst steak he has ever had. Italian was probably the second worst meal we had there. It was honestly the same soggy bland pasta you can get at the buffet. Don't even waste your time going there. The Japanese was truly an amazing meal. They put on a great show and cooked really fresh delicious food in front of us which was so nice. The buffet and snack bar foods are really not good at all. There is always tons of food but it probably won't be enjoyable. Every single person working at these places is working very hard to try and keep up with the number of people they have. Honestly they should probably have more staff and focus more on great flavour. The food was definitely NOT up to a 5 star standard and trust me we are not fussy eaters. It was enough to keep us alive but not enough to want us coming back for more.
DRINKS/LOUNGES/BARS: I am not a drinker, but according to the rest of the family they did not have premium alcohol and most of their drinks didn't taste very good. It was "ok" but not 5 star. There were always lots of bartenders and servers going around asking if you want a drink. The two main lobbies were nice and breezy, but the furniture is all extremely uncomfortable. They should really focus more on making sure their guests have a relaxing and comfortable vacation than keeping up with modern furniture that you can barely sit on. My family enjoyed the sky bar lounge at night with the live music but again seriously uncomfortable seating. NOT RELAXING!
You have to pay for wifi at this resort which was about $40 CAD per device! We also had to pay to use the safe in the room for the week! Seriously?? Get with the program Grand Sirenis! These are services your need to provide all inclusive or you will not get return customers.
Overall we do not recommend this resort because of the terrible beds/furniture and the terrible food. It was not the relaxing enjoyable vacation we were looking forward to. We have stayed at many other resorts in Mexico which we would recommend before this one including Palladium, Occidental, Dreams, Barcelo and even the Bahia. Save your money and try one of the other places. Or save your money and go to a 3 star and get the same as Grand Sirenis. We had much better vacations at other resorts with better facilities and food.

Beautiful resort in Akumal!
We recently staying at the Grand Sirenis with myself husband and 2 daughters (age 10 and 13) I loved the rooms, was looking forward to the jetted tub but did not fill properly but by the time we got someone to look at it we would have been gone. We were in Acat building on the top floor which was nice. Quiet at night. We loved the beach no through traffic. So just us guests. The grounds are huge and beautiful and best part was a 5 min cab ride to Akumal. We did not book any a la carte meals as i[... read more]t meant talking to our concierge and they were quite pushy on the timeshare. Wasn't a priority anyway and we like to eat whenever. Check in was a typical Mexican upgrade and playing shuffle with rooms but in the end we were happy with our room and declined the upgrade. We were charged for internet which we knew ahead of time no prob and did not use the safe and had no problems. I would highly recommend this hotel it has it all and the location cant be beat for eco tourism opportunities. I don't know if well return as we like to try a different resort each time.

Great Vacation
Last year we stayed at the resort next door....The Grand Palladium. Although we had a great time last year, we found The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya to be better. Our rooms were within a 5 minute walk of beaches, pool, restaurants, lazy river, coffee shop, bar, etc.
The staff were excellent. Attentive and remembered our standard orders. Although tipping wasn't required at this inclusive we wanted to as they were so wonderful. The coffee shop was great and for us coffee drinkers offered supe[... read more]rior coffee to the restaurants. Our only complaint would be that it didn't open until 8am.
The snorkeling right off the beach was great. We saw turtles, parrot fish, blue angel fish, just to name a few.
The resort was well kept from landscaping to beach front to rooms...well done.
They had a lovely bar on top of the a la carte restaurants that offered live music before and after entertainment.
We had no problem getting into a la carte restuarants even with requesting a table for 12.
The only things we did not enjoy was the nightly entertainment, last years resort was much better and the buffet. There was not alot of variety and after 10 days we were ready to go home to our own food.
Overall though we enjoyed The Grand Sirenis better.

Great family vacation!
Clean spacious rooms. Beautiful location. Gorgeous white sand beaches. Friendly and courteous staff. What more could you want?! Loved the cove with the coral reefs. Great opportunity for snorkeling right on the property. The pools with the dolphins was a nice plus for the kids.

Amazing Resort!
Grand Sirenis was a gorgeous resort. Lots of food choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner and theme nights were a treat! The fresh fruit was so tasty, especially the watermelon and bananas. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Lots of activities throughout the day with a great animation team. Overall, our experience was amazing. We were so happy . The staff makes this place so much better.

A Top Notch Resort
Everything at the Grand Sirenis is excellent. The food, drinks, nightly entertainment, accommodations were 5 star! The pools are spotless. Golf carts whisk you around the resort if you are tired of walking. The staff is so attentive and accommodating. Many water sports are available. Massages in the beach house are available. You can swim with the Dolphins if you choose to. There are activities for everyone!
