Not a 5 star resort 3.5 at best.Very disappointed.

Grounds were nice.Had a swim up suite which we loved!Food was not very good 2.5 out of 5.Service was very hit and miss 2 out of 5.Room service was terrible.Premiun alchohol not available after 4 days we stayed for 12.Only served local alchohol which i can get at any resort.Overall the swim up suite and the weather saved are vacation.Would not return to this resort.Defitnitly not worth the money.Also air conditioning did not work for first 7 days!

Great Resort!

This was our 5th time at the Ambar and it did not disappoint. We had an amazing time! The grounds are beautiful. The renovated rooms are refreshing and very clean. The food and drinks were great. All the a la cartes were delicious! All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Most days the beach was clear of sargassum, and on the days it wasn’t, they worked tirelessly to keep it clean. Ww will definitely return and recommend.

Amazing Resort

There is absolutley nothing bad i can say about this resort. We had a GREAT trip, The people, resort, food, room were excellent. Food was over the top delicious, Rooms were big and clean, The people were so friendly and easy to understand...I espcecially liked our concierges Edward, he was excellent. Highly recomment this resort and i will definately be back.

Always Excellent

This is about our 10th time to the Grand Bahai Ambar, Punta Cana. I have mobility issues and they always accommodate my requests. The food is excellent with many choices to choose from. The staff is amazing and very friendly and helpful. We will go back again.

Beautiful resort

The hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The buffet was delicious and clean as well. We enjoyed all of the facilities especially the gym! The staff were quick to bring drinks and coffee during meals. Room service was exceptional! We had an issue with the first room in that it was 2 double beds and we were on our honeymoon. They changed our room to a king bed the next day and included champagne and chocolate! We will come back for sure

Beautiful Resort

Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar is a very beautiful resort, the grounds are well cared for, the rooms are clean, modern and large (we had a Deluxe Corner Junior Suite 2nd floor room 61208) it had a partial view of the ocean (that was an awesome surprise we didn't expect), The food was plentiful, hot and delicious there is always something for everyone to eat (the sports bar has very tasty chicken wings for a late night snack and well made Mojitos ). The Coffee Shop was a delight in the morning, the [... read more] pool has entertainment in the afternoon and quieting down around 5ish (especially loved the foam party with the balls ...that was a lot of fun) and the beach is beautiful with lots of palapas. The staff at this resort are very kind, they work very hard to make sure guest are looked after, they were always cleaning from scrubbing the pool area and the swim outs, to cleaning the walkways, washrooms etc.. we had a fantastic week

Wonderful resort!

The resort and staff were top shelf! They made a few changes since we were there about 5 years ago and a huge Kudos goes to their efforts. Try he beach was always clean and finding a spot to tuck away was never an issue. Will definitely be returning!

Vacationed Oct 1 -8 2022

The hotel is amazing, rooms were spacious and clean the beach was absolutely beautiful. The food.....well breakfast and lunch were great, the dinners were not good. For this reason I would not return. They were mostly edible, but not enjoyable. New cooks not really knowing how to cook, portion size - one meal had less than a teaspoon of chicken. Most dinners so over cooked you could barely cut salmon with a knife, you can only imagine how the steak was. Until the Hurricane

Everything was pretty good until Hurricane Fiona. The hotel must have overbooked because we got two double beds instead of the king bed we reserved online, not the end of the world, we pushed the beds together, but not what I paid for at a "luxury resort" The Butler was amazing, Watson made our trip!!! Very helpful, checked in on us, we highly recommend Watson. Unfortunately he was off after the hurricane so we didn't get his help with some of the issues that came up. The Front desk sta [... read more]ff were rude an unhelpful, with the exception of Jesus, everyone else passed everything off to someone else. The food was delicious, the a la carte restaurants were great. When the hurricane came, the communication was really bad, and when we tried to find out what was open etc, the concierge didn't want to help us, she just kept pointing at a piece of paper and staring at her computer. We paid extra for the walk out pool, but after the hurricane the pump had broke so we went 3 days without a pool. Every other pool was up and running in 2 days, and we asked multiple people multiple times. Finally I went to ask for a new room and the front desk attendant told me he had been waiting for me to come to get a new room?!?!?! This is supposed to be a 5 star luxury resort, why am I chasing people down for the services I paid for? We moved rooms and my husband left his charger in the old room, we went back with a hotel staff and the room had already been cleaned and the charger removed, but we were told we had to keep checking back to see if the cleaning attendant came back to work. We checked 3 times, she never returned and they never followed up, or took a note, nothing, it was our responsibility. Again, this is supposed to be a luxury resort. The Air Canada rep Aldo didn't show up for the orientation meeting, and then I had to go back 4 times to find out when our transfer was leaving the last day. Apparently he's between 2 resorts, the Ambar and the Aquamarine, but I only saw him once at the Ambar. The front desk never knew when he was supposed to be there and its not posted anywhere. After the hurricane, he never checked in on us or anything. Didn't show up when the coach was leaving either. I'm torn with my review because I think if the Hurricane didn't happen, we would a have been fine, and of course a Hurricane is no ones fault, and of course the workers at the resort had to go through the same hurricane, so I can totally understand some of the service issues, but this cannot be Bahia Principe's first Hurricane, and they clearly have no procedures in place for communication with guest during this type of event or after.

Amazing Resort

Staff, grounds, rooms and food. All are top level. We've been many times and are never disappointed. Lots of seaweed thus year but can't blame the.resort for the tides. We always get swimup pool rooms.

Would 100% go back!

Very clean resort including food services (buffet, a la carte dining, and bars), rooms, and common areas. Staff was always helpful, spoke good english and knew what they were doing. The app made it so easy to keep track of plans, entertainment schedule, and any other services we needed. Exceeded expectations by far.

Beautiful Reaort

The resort was spectacular. My friends and I had a wonderful time filled with lots of fun activities. My boyfriend who has many food allergies/sensitivities had no problems finding things to eat at both the buffet and the a la carte restaurants. There was sanitizer available throughout the resort, which was really the only COVID protection that was noticeable. There was no air circulation in many of the a la carte restaurants either. Paradise

We just returned from 8 glorious days at the Luxury Ambar, our second home. We travelled June 5th-13th We have been to this resort a minimum of 20+ times and are booked again for November 2022 for 15 days. We keep returning because we absolutely love it. The hotel, the staff, the food, the service, the ambiance, everything is amazing. We have been to several SANDALS Resorts and prefer this resort. We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary and they made it so special for us. The resort is spotlessly clean, They are constantly wiping and sanitizing furniture and the staff wear masks all day long in that heat. They are doing a great job with the covid protocols. I felt safe at the resort. I would strongly suggest this hotel to family and friends all day long!!! Can't wait to go back!

Disappointed

Bahia Principe Ambar

The hotel was amazing, staff extremely friendly. Stephany and Roberto brought a lot of entertainment! I used the gym daily and was impressed by the upkeep and sanitizing. Air Transat deserves a whooping zero. Our rooms weren’t ready, we had to be moved to ones beside each other. We didn’t get seats besides each other on the flight there because the app crashed, waited 3 hours and still unable to talk to someone. Ramon refused to refund my Mom’s ticket after she was throwing up for two days with a migraine. Absolutely ridiculous and lack of compassion for someone who was ill and notified this the day prior. Will not book with air Transat again and will be sharing our terrible experience. Completely disheartening that my 64 year old Mother was refused a refund, makes me feel sick to my stomach that they would take advantage of people like that. Stay away.

Ambar Pool

The hotel staff were very diligent in keeping the resort sanitized but the pool and beach area was a different story. The Ambar pool was very murky and there was a definite sewage odour. We spent 6 of our 7 days at the Aquamarine pool which was crystal clear. The only problem was that we had to walk a fair distance and was not near our room if we needed anything. The rooms were nice and clean. It was definitely not a 5 star hotel. I would give it a 3.5 or 4 at best.

Amazing Resort

Swim up rooms are fantastic! The beach is beautiful. The food, restaurant choices are great. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The coffee cafe is an added bonus for those who love their morning coffee or latte! So clean! Beautiful gardens.

Not a “luxury” resort

Resort is close to the pool and beach, rooms and public areas/washrooms are clean. Food at the a la cartes we were able to get in to was good. Other than that could not book a la carte restaurants we wanted as a lot were already fully booked when we got there. Not enough staff at both pool and lobby bars. Despite their signs to the contrary, lounge chairs were “reserved” by guests. Staff did nothing about it. Got eaten alive by something at the beach. No spraying for pests. Entertainment in  [... read more]lobby was mediocre. Despite 2 days of rain, no umbrellas available. Staff would not deliver a bottle of house wine to our room. We were told to go get it by the glass at the bar. Not 5* luxury service by any stretch! Would not go back.

Amazing Place

The Grounds are Beautiful the staff do an Amazing job keeping it looking Great Hotel was Very Nice Room was Clean Very Comfortable, Cleaning Staff did A Great job every Day fresh Towels we requested lots of water we never had a problem. Bar fridge was stocked up every Day Can’t wait too go Back

Great time at Ambar

We are repeat guests at Ambar, first time back since covid. Many new staff since last visit. Other than some issues at check in we enjoyed our vacation. Good friendly service especially in the restaurants MEAT, Limbo, Portofino a-la-cartes and at the buffet. Pablo, Frailin, Ricky provided great service.
