Great place to stay!!!!!!!

We love this hotel - our third time staying here. Everything is so clean and meticulous. Staff friendly and attentive and very caring. Great selection in the Buffet with different specialty nights. The pool, grounds and beach are beautiful. We highly recommend this hotel as a great getaway!!!!!

Nice and clean, staff very friendly,food very good, beach beautifull, water a bit rough!

The only things I can complain about this resort is it's very noisy, not only a in the hotel itself but around the pools. The music is far too loud, there should be a pool for kids only! They don't observe any dress codes at all in the dining areas for dinner! Then there is the "band on the beach"!?!?!?! Every day about 3.00pm till late in the evening you hear what sounds like a grade seven band practising for the first time! Love this resort

This was our third stay at this resort. It is tall and compact as opposed to spread out. Everything that you want or need is near. It is also wheelchair accessible. The food is good with lots of selection and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The elevators are slow but it is a 20 plus floor building so they are very busy. This was the first time that we have had to wait for our room to be ready. We arrived at the resort at 1 pm and did not get access to our room until shortly after 3 pm. [... read more] We went for lunch then sat in the lobby for a while. We were disappointed with this as the other 2 times our rooms were ready when we arrived. There was one day out of the 7 that we felt that our room was not cleaned to the excellent standard of the other 6 days. The staff works very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Everyone smiles and are very pleasant to you. One word of caution, if you wear progressive lens eyeglasses, when going down the stairs between the lobby and the lower lobby watch the last step. It blends right in with the floor so it is very difficult to see that there is another step. Overall, this is a great resort that we will likely return to.

Great vacation in Mazatlan Mexico with perfect weather to boot!

Hotel beds not too comfortable, but maids meticulous about cleaning and I am a clean freak! The pools and beach were all fabulous. Miles of beaches! Never a problem finding lounge chairs. Lots of activities and extremely friendly staff( not just looking for tips). Food good, but not 5 star quality. Overall a good value! Great vacation!

we love emerald bay the staff are super.food is good beach is great.roons are realy clean.what more could you ask for other than a different air line SUNWING SUCKS the airport is small to start with but you get your Mexican tourist card once insideanother great mess its funny cabos,viartta every one but Mazatlan fill them out on the plane

Holiday Paradise

Enjoyed our stay at the Riu. The staff was very helpful and friendly..Check in and out went very quickly and smoothly. We asked for a room change and were accommodated immediately, even though the hotel staff were very busy. My only wish was that there would have been free Wifi in the rooms, as I had to spend a couple of days there due to a tummy bug....I would recommend this resort hotel if you are making Mazatlan you holiday destination. Great Resort

The resort was great, it met all my expectations and more, hotel staff is going out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. Very clean, food was great.It was one of the best resorts I have been in.

AMAZING STAFF

The most exciting part of The Emerald Riu was its staff! From check in to exit everyone included was amazing and more than accomadating! Checkin took two minutes ! Needs were met in a flash ! Call the front desk( low on soap , plumbing issue ) someone was there in minutes ! Grounds were spotless / rooms always spotless / towel service easy! Food was average / nothing spectacular ! This hotel is perfect for families we really enjoyed our stay The staff are very nice and helpful a lot of them don't speak very good English but you can find someone who does if you ask around The staff work hard at keeping the place clean and entertaining the guests The beach is awesome even though the ocean is a bit rough you can still enjoy boogie boarding If you ask for a memory foam for your bed they will bring it and it makes a big difference The food is Ok I really enjoyed the br [... read more]eakfast food the most just like any all-inclusive the buffet is pretty much the same every day but I always managed to find something I liked Typical sweet drinks and draft beer as any other resort We really like having a mini fridge that was stocked almost daily we had a nice king sized bed and a beautiful view of the ocean I was happy with everything overall I want to thank Karol at trip central for all his help

the hotel and staff are beyond your expentations.good food and service .front desk is a little shaky some times like a run around for a late check out .the sad pat is not the hotel its the flight times.sunwing does not deserve to be able to do rius they treat everyone like crap if you have been to this resort you know about Mexican tourist cards you have to fill them out in that little area before customs what a joke .love this place but the airline sucks.

Very clean!!

For the most part this resort was good. The cleanliness was exceptional! The pool areas were kept clean and there was always someone cleaning the public restrooms. We were a little disappointed with the restaurants as all were buffet, we were hoping for table service at the reservation ones. Breakfast was the best part of the day. Excellent service

Beautiful beaches, very clean, excellent customer service. Mario the waiter and poncho the bartender are the best. The rooms were amazing. Double sink bathrooms. The seafood was delicious. Buffet food and service was excellent. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone :)

Great resort but not enough buffet!

This was our second time traveling there. We loved everything about this resort except we were not that happy with the food and buffet! Compare to other resorts that we've gone to, this big resort does not have enough eating area. I talked to several other people while there and everyone was saying the food quality has gone down since 3 years ago. Nice resort but food isn't great

This is a nice resort in Mazatlan and we enjoyed our time there. The food was below the quality I would have expected. Towards the end of our stay, the only thing I would get on my plate is fries with ketchup. I'm not a picky eater at all but I found most everything to be either bland or too salty/sweet. Meat and seafood was overcooked beyond recognition. Worst of all, there was NO Mexican food at this resort. I found that ridiculous. I love Mexican food but I could not get a simple taco there.  [... read more]They have a so-called Mexican restaurant at the hotel, which server some bizarre concoction of Spanish/Western that I think any Mexican would laugh at. The cocktails were very good and the servers did try to make the best they could with the things they had. Overall the service was quite good with a few exception, especially with the reception staff, some of whom tend to be rude and dismissive if you complain about something, such as the premium paid internet not working properly. The beach was nice and very sandy, not rocky at all. That's a plus. Overall the resort was ok, but I would not recommend it to friends and family. Normally, when I come back from vacation, I feel nostalgic about the food I had access to. This time, I could not wait to get back to Canada and eat something that had some taste. Some of the people in our group had been to this hotel 2 years ago and confirmed that the food quality has gone down.

Amazing trip!!!!

Such an amazing vacation. The hotel was clean. the service was amazing. the staff was amazing. the hotel isn't to big so you don't need to walk far for anything! good drinks! will definitely be going back

Great resort!!

The hotel was a bit dated but very well maintained and very clean. The grounds were well manicured and beach was great. All the staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurants were closed a few nights and weren't true a'lacarte (still buffet style) The main buffet and Italian buffet were excellent!! Great variety! Would definitely rebook and recommend.

Very Nice Resort

the staff,food and grounds all excellent,the rooms were ok,clean but starting to show their age the only thing I did not like about this location was the lagoon right next to the resort,it was disgusting full of garbage and smelled bad,it needs to be cleaned up ASAP

Amazing Resort

Excellent and very polite staff. Great food with lots of variety to choose from. Well maintained and great place to relax. Variety of tours is an icing on the cake. Airport reception crew is excellent. Will do it again!

Great place

this is our 6th or 7th time to this resort the staff are amazing from front desk to maintance they always have a smile and a hola the rooms are clean as a whip ex. view. elevators are not as bad as people let on. the food has a great assortment if you go hungary here its because you are hung over.
