Gran Club Santa Lucia: comfortable mid resort

resort has great staff, nice easy layout, lots of amenities, just wonderful sand beach, good size rooms, every thing worked well, pool was a little small for the number but every one was friendly. of 9 resorts we have been to in Cuba this one had the most boring bland food.

Brisas Santa Lucia: Great Value!

If you are looking for a budget beach vacation with wonderful friendly people, basic but spotless rooms, and good plain food, this resort fits the bill. It is located in a quiet corner of Cuba. A few after hours clubs to party if this is your thing, but basically a place to chill out, and enjoy the sun. Very popular with families.

Brisas Santa Lucia: Great Family Resort

This was my 16th visit to Brisas Santa Lucia. To say the staff and the resort is great is being modest. The food was good and plenty of variety ... the staff are pleasant, friendly and always remember a face. The resort is well groomed and clean. The room always had hot water and a/c. The celebrations on Christmas Eve and New Years were superb. Special shout out to the entertainment staff Carlito, Roly, Luigi, Jesus, and Judy, Maikel the best darn omelette, egg, pasta and pizza maker, Leno [... read more]r and Saida in the dining room and of course Birmania. The repeat guest lunch was amazing. Can't wait for my 17th trip!!!

Club Amigo Mayanabo: Not quite paradise.... but I will be back again!

The resort is very nice. The ground are well trimmed, public areas are pretty clean. My room was kept well cleaned but the bathroom needed a few items taken care of.... sink tap was loose, shower door kept hitting a screw preventing it from sliding smoothly. Even though the closet is not on a outside wall, the cement/plaster work does attract moisture, so make sure you leave the closet door open a few inches on either side so air can flow into the closet. I got tired of the buffet by day 5 [... read more]. Most thing were the same everyday, and I found some of the dishes too salty (but that is just me). The waitresses are GREAT! By the third day I did not have to ask for coffee with breakfast. None of the male waiter even asked (no tip for them!) My ex-wife has been there 3 or 4 times, so she told me to be prepared and bring my own condiments. But they now have mustard, ketchup, hot sauce at the buffet. They do have black pepper shakers on the table, but I would have to still be shaking it a year later to get enough pepper out for my omelette. OH... and they have excellent ice cream at lunch and dinner! The pool was nice and clean, but don't step on the grate around the pool, what isn't missing is crumbing. I had my heel break a section of it. The beach area was clean and raked. As much as they try to keep on top of the algae it creeps right back. Bring water shoes for swimming at the beach.

Hotel Caracol: Hotel Caracole Santa Lucia Cuba

The Caracole rooms have been given a face lift since my last stay and look great with a nice upgrade in the bathrooms. The safes have also been updated . As always the maid service was great. The dining room was fine, linen always fresh and the staff attentive. There was always fresh fish and shrimp on the menu and you can always find things to fill your plate with. Lots of fresh salads and veggies. They have the most amazing ice cream that's made locally. The coffee is excellent and all the [... read more] bartenders make a mean cappicino. The grounds are emaculatly kept and the beach was fabulous, the loungers seemed to have been recently replaced. Security keeps the beach side vendors from bothering you. The evening show put on after dinner was enjoyable and they change it up nightly. The front desk will change money for you so you don't need a trip to the bank. This is a great place to just relax and hang out at the beach. The snorkeling is excellent.

Gran Club Santa Lucia: Amazing resort! Great Layout and Scenery

The grounds were so well kept with beautiful flowers. We had a beach bungalow and it was beautiful. All the staff were lovely people and even the food was well spiced and I always found stuff I enjoyed. However, the coffee bar was something we really, really loved. Will hopefully return one day!

Gran Club Santa Lucia: Exceeded our expectations!

Stayed for one week - December 14 to 21. We went for our anniversary and Ivonne, a customer service rep at the resort went out of her way to make our vacation special. We were given a junior suite on the second floor, which was very large with a separate living area, a king size bed and a view of the ocean. The room was very clean and we even found the bed was comfortable which is not always the case at some resorts. Ivonne arranged for flowers to be delivered to our room on our anniversar [... read more]y which was a very nice touch. On our first day, Ivonne also quickly booked all our a la carte meals, including arranging for lobster on our anniversary. A la carte restaurants included, Seafood, Italian and Cuban and all meals we had at these restaurants were delicious. The buffet food was also good, with a variety of options. We understand the resort is currently building another restaurant which will further enhance eating options. There are three beautiful stain glass pieces in the lobby which we understand are fairly new additions. As someone who dabbles in stain glass, I found these pieces gorgeous. There are also lush gardens throughout the resort and a beautiful beach with lots of chairs and palapas available. The pool was also very nice which included a swim up bar and lots of chairs, however, a few more shaded areas around the pool would be nice. There was some construction going on throughout the resort and some fish ponds did not have any water. However, we did not find the construction interfered with our enjoyment and we could visualize how much nicer the resort will be when these renovations are completed. We found the staff at this resort were fantastic. So welcoming and friendly. Most recognized you and were quick to greet you and assist you in any way they could. We were also surprised at how well many of the staff could speak English. Unfortunately I have a hard time remembering names, but I thank Ivonne and the staff from all areas within the resort for truly making our stay special. It was our first time to the Gran Club Santa Lucia, and although we don't usually return to the same resort, we will most likely be back. We've been to Cuba 9 times, at resorts ranging from 3 to 5 star and we consider the Gran Club Santa Lucia one of the best resorts we've been to. It definitely exceeded our expectations.

Gran Club Santa Lucia: NICE RESORT

The food wasn't very good , it was the same everyday and didn't seem to be fresh sometimes , there was too many prostituation going on , too many old men with young girls , why the hotel allows this is beyond me I think many people were uncomfortable with this going on ,staff was friendly , staff at the bar area need to learn how to make good cappachino, coffee wasn't very good and we had to go to brisas or mayanabo to get a good cappuccino .When there is a complaint from a guest they don't real [... read more]ly care , they always have some excuse and don't really give good customer service ,they really need to improve customer service !!!!

Club Amigo Mayanabo: What a disaster of a trip! Booking 7855731 Robert and Sharon Morgan

Cubana air going and coming home was the high light of the trip. The balance was a disaster to say the least. Arrived in Cameguey at 10:30AM, ready to leave at 11:15, sat in bus for nearly 2 hours before departing for hotel. Holasun rep was terrible. Arrived at hotel at 2:30pm, everyone upset. Both my wife and I got very serious food poisoning at Club Amigo Mayanabo. Bob was sick 3rd,4th, and 5th of Dec. Sharon was sick 4th,5th,6th, Dec. Under doctor's care. Basically we could not eat or d [... read more]rink anything. We had 2 days together as a couple, Wed and Thursday Dec 7th and 8th, and left for home Friday at 6am. In essence we lost all our holiday, and $1558.00. The hotel acknowledged food poisoning but took no blame, and said sorry! Called Hola Sun customer service this morning and they hung up on us?

Club Amigo Mayanabo: LOVE THIS PLACE SOOOOO MUCH

I have been to this hotel more than 35 times in the past 11 years. Always feels like going to my second home. The food is very basic Cuban . The hotel is always kept clean . The pool is very large and there is always a place to sit either at the pool or at the beach. There is almost always a breeze in Santa Lucia. The slippery tiles around the pool are getting replaced a section at a time. The course stones around the pool have been smoothed down which makes it much safer now. The day I a [... read more]rrived on this trip was within 24 hours of Fidel Castro having passed away. There was no music and no dancing or entertainment for the whole time I was there. There was a limited amount of alcohol at the hotel. Sale of alcohol was prohibited the whole trip but it is the Cuban custom so I just accepted it as such. The staff at Mayanabo are friendly and helpful, they treat guests like family. Overall a quiet trip and very relaxing.

Gran Club Santa Lucia: Amazing

The hotel was great a lot of upgrades happening which is great the food was very good the rooms are all getting redone .Night life is a little slow only one dance club but it's a very small island but let love it there the staff is great .

Brisas Santa Lucia: Brisas Sata Lucia Terrible Resort

In approximately 20 trips to Cuba, I can honestly say this is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever visited - the food was very poor with little or no selection, how could they run out off eggs for breakfast - they ran out of both white and red wine several times. - All of the prepared food was cold, I know it is hard to keep large trays of food hot, but it is expected to be at least warm, most of this food was at room temperature including rice, chicken and scrambled eggs. The entertainmen [... read more]t was almost non existent with only a very limited evening show during the day there did not appear to be any organized sports or entertainment - The hotel was only at approximately 30 % of capacity, yet the only room available for me was on the 3rd floor, of course there was no elevator - Although they advertised Internet access they had no internet access cards available, it was approximately 1 Km off site to the store to purchase an internet access card. After walking to the outlet I was then informed that I could not purchase a card without a passport. So I had to repeat my walk. Approximately 70 % of the guests were Cuban, the staff was much more interested in socializing with their fellow Cubans than serving customers. Waits of several minutes were not uncommon while they socialized. The only positive item about the hotel was the rooms were clean and the bathrooms were quite modern with ample hot water and had an excellent air conditioning system. On my last day I asked for a 5:30 AM wake up call, They marked it into the book, but nobody bothered to call. Club Amigo Mayanabo: One Big Happy Family

After 55 times at the Mayanabo what more is there to say. The rooms are clean, the food is amazing and the staff are our family. The entertainers are wonderful. It is a quite hotel so if you need to relax you can do so, if you want to party you can do that as well. Just some tips, make sure you take beach shoes as there is a lot of small coral washed on shore and a bit of sea grass, lots of bug spray, depending of the season. Make sure that you talk with everyone and make friendships, we have met wonderful people over the years and keep in contact with everyone. Playa Santa Lucia is just a wonderful place to be, and the staff at Mayanabo make you feel like you are in your own back yard with family and friends. If you are looking for the Hilton it is not there but the service is above and beyond. Some people love it and some don't , give it a try, I bet you will return many times.

Gran Club Santa Lucia: Gran Club Playa Santa Lucia

I just completed a 2 weeks stay and had a wonderful time. The hotel is being revitalized throughout and has definitely upgraded its food offerings. There are still frustrations with Cuban wifi, but I assume with time they'll enter the 21st century. Like most places, the more often you go and get to know the staff, the more the holiday takes on a more person note and the memories are just that much better.

The staff at Gran Club are all so friendly and welcoming. The grounds are keep in immaculate condition. The buffet has such a great variety and the beaches are beautiful. Kids club is awesome, kept the boys busy and having fun all week. Cant wait to go back

Brisas Santa Lucia: Brisas is home away from home

Though we aerrived after Mathew had passed by Cuba and had left traces we were welcomed as usual with smiles and apologies from the staff on duty ,we were put in the pavillions available and clean from all debris .Food was alright and we did not miss anything so all in all it was great and the weather was amazing we had 32 and 34 with the humidity even more ,Brisas as always made me feel at home they tend to me as i need some help moving around ,they always try to make sure that im not too far f [... read more]rom any of the places we need to be ,like the dinning room ,coffee bar, and lobby . Gran Club Santa Lucia: Workers are good

The hotel is not bad. Workers are friendly. Rooms ok. Grounds ok. Lobby has been renovated and pleasant place to stay. Lobby bar is a good place also to mingle with other tourists.Overall stay pleasant except that we have to be evacuated from the hotel to to the city because of the Hurricane and staying in the city hotel is not very pleasant at all.

Gran Club Santa Lucia: What an amazing week!

When we first got to this resort we thought we made the wrong decision. Our room wasn't that good and resort is a little worn. But, after talking with Reynaldo from customer service who helped us in such a big way! He took us to look at other room(2 rooms ) options until we found one we that was satisfactory. Then he helped us transfer all our bags from the first room. Wow! He went over and above for everyone all week long. Food was amazing. So good. Employees are all so much fun. Bravo to the staff of the resort. The most wonderful place to be. Small quiet and calm. Very friendly. The beach/pools are very nice. The food is the best we had in Cuba. Can't wait to go back.

We just loved the resort. The staff, entertainers and guests are all great ! We made many friends. The resort is beautiful, clean and friendly. The beach is nice , there is some sea weeds in the water but it is soft to walk on. The food is the best we have ever had in Cuba, very good italian style food. Would go back in a heartbeat.
