Hotel Plaza: Good Location

This hotel is right at the city center but my room did not have a balcony for me to have a good view outside. I asked for another room facing the street but the window was not visible enough to see the street .I asked to be given back the first room which they did. Breakfast at the hotel is the best I have had in any Cuban hotel. Some of the staff are very friendly, especially at the restaurant. On my first day one of reception staff was very friendly to me by allowing me to use her phone to mak [... read more]e calls.I was able to change some Canadian dollars at the front desk on the first day and second day. I went to them the third time and they told me they don't change Canadian dollars.I was so shocked. I used ATM near-by but got the notes in 50's. The bank was closed, so I came back to the front desk to change for smaller notes. they told me they don't have, I went to the bar, they gave me the same answer. I decided to go to hotel Caribbean where I stayed last year. They remembered me and granted my wish. The bathroom faucet used to leak.I reported to the room maid. It was fixed but it still leaked any time I used it. Taxis parked near the hotel overcharge, so I used to walk away from the hotel for a cheaper taxi.The hotel is well located..

Hotel Atlantico: Very good hotel and beech

All was super and better than expected. Entertainment was good for my niece since she is younger but I did not stay for long do my health. I new a lot of this hotel from my friend and my husband and I were few times in the hotel nearby.

Marazul Hotel: They are willing to improve and do good work there

Upon arrival the steps at front are not a welcome sight for a wheel chair person, however workers helped me walk up, and after I found a wheel chair ramp and talked to manager I saw that they used it for the next buses. There was a little difficulty with bathroom access in room with a 1 foot barrier step, which I am able to crawl over. Tour to the city was great, there are many wheelchair obstacles on the streets, and buildings, but with a little work I was more than welcome. The work [... read more]ers at the hotel were gracious and helpful in my stay, and the only complaint was the storm that hit, which is out of their control, and I saw the hotel workers clean and try keep up with people's needs.

Hotel Plaza: Perfect place to stay in Havana

Close to Prado but away from traffic noise. Couldn't be more central. Plaza Hotel is amazing with good restaurant and bar. Breakfast on the fifth floor terrace is very good. Near attractions with everything nearby but remember it is Cuba.

Hotel Atlantico: Just what you'd expect

Our room was average, floors were a bit dirty but we just wore our flip flops the whole time. The AC in the room was awesome and the beds were really comfy. Pool was good, but the daytime entertainment is horrible. They just yell over the microphone in spanish for hours on end and the sound quality is bad so I'm sure nobody can understand it. Only 3 periods of time in the day to get food at the buffet and a snack bar that you'll likely wait 45 minutes for a gross hamburger. The A La Carte restaurant was delicious but gets old fast as there are only a few options. Stay away from the fish soup. Overall we had a good time here, but won't be staying here again.

Marazul Hotel: Valuable Deal

I booked a oceanview room. The first night when I arrived they gave me a garden view but they changed it the next day. The hotel is pretty old but the room seems clean. There are different night activities happening every day. The water ballet was really nice. Food was horrible as it is Cuba. Overall, it was ok and if the price is right I would still go again.

Hotel Atlantico: I STILL WONDER WHY PEOPLE COMPLAIN

GREAT LOCATION, FOOD WAY ABOVE 3 STAR HOTEL, VERY NICE FOR 3 STAR HOTEL. I HAVE BEEN IN CUBA MORE THAN 30 TIMES AND I STILL WONDER WHAT PEOPLE EXPECT??? 7 STARS????? FOOD, LOCATION,SERVICES, ESPRESSO AMAZING AT ATLANTICO. GREAT JOB GUYS

Hotel Atlantico: Long standing and reliable resort

Annual stay for about 10 years. Some improvement every year. Best location in Cuba for access to Habana and the beach with free hotel shuttle and regular, cheap, reliable city transit. Excellent for what you pay and the overall package received compared to other offers in Cuba. No well prepared for persons in need of wheel chairs.

Villa Bacuranao: Always a pleasant experience

We always utilize this small resort as a base camp to explore the North/East of Cuba, mainly Havana and Matanza Provinces. The rooms are small and convenient. The grounds are old and spread out a bit, but not an issue for us. The pool area is great and always enjoy the local Cuban people when they visit, as it makes for a greater Cuban experience. The beach area is great and utilized by locals mostly. The highway/bus stop is a short walk up to the Highway. It is very easy to find a ride in eithe [... read more]r direction, just stick your arm out and someone will gladly stop and help.There is a great little restaurant in walking distance from the resort.

Hotel Atlantico: well worth the price

I had an awesome stay at the Hotel Atlantico. The staff for the most part were very good and the room was clean. Food was ok in my opinion-typical cuban fare.Please note that Guy Fierie wasn't cooking. Be carefull to wear bug spray early in the morning if going on the beach as the sand fleas are active then and their bites are not pretty. There is a bus that travels to Havana and back every 45 minutes or so for 5 CUC which is well worth it. Taxis to havana can range from 10 to 30 CUC depend [... read more]ing on the car and weather the taxi wants to return to Havana Empty after dropping people at the beach. 5 CUC to Guanabo by day and 10 at night.(scam in my opinion) If you are expecting the Sheraton you will be dissapointed.

Marazul Hotel: Still Tropicoco to Most

Two weeks (March 21/18 to April 4/18) of wonderful sunshine at a hotel we have been to before. It has been 2 years and we see many changes/improvements. There have been repairs to walls, lots of paint and many new plants. One bar was closed as work was "slowly" being done. (Cuban speed) Every sign still said "Tropicoco". Locals and tourists are guilty of dropping their stuff where it has been used/emptied. Recycling and refunding programs would greatly benefit the beach area. So many bottles and cans plus wrappers, tissue etc......terrible eyesore, and potentially dangerous. Our bed {a king size in room 334) was comfortable. It was a spacious room (overlooking the back of the hotel where delivery trucks came) and we had an abundance of hot water (except for Good Friday when no water delivery was made and we had no water for about 12 hours) Meals were typical....cheese and meat slices served only at breakfast, pork, chicken and fish served at lunch and supper. Raw shredded vegetables were available for salads. It did get to be a bit boring. The pork burgers made on the grill snack bar were good. I find the desserts are tasteless...so no appeal to me. Lots of eggs. Lots of cinnamon rice pudding. Watermelon, guava and pineapple were the predominant fruits available. We saw bananas only twice. The pool area has been improved greatly...a much larger area and more attractive. We did not take in much of the evening "entertainment" as after many visits to Cuba, the shows tend to be similar. The only thing Tropicoco lacks that I want in a vacation stay is a balcony. We went knowing we would not be getting one. The cervasa was always cold, no matter where we received it. Don't forget to book your free shuttle to Havana the day before you wish to go. We saw people not able to get on because the bus was full. We went for the sunshine, warm breezes and no meal planning or dishes to be done. 100% satisfaction in that! So...yes, we would go back again. Don't forget to claim what you buy when you return to Canada!

Nacional de Cuba: i would use it again

The National was fine ... this is Cuba remember..and it is very hit and miss, the place is well located, but it a bit needs new beds and furniture... the pool was great. The terrace was perfect for drinks over looking the ocean...

Marazul Hotel: Coneiniently located

The two-star resort met our expectations. It offers basic amenities, which are good enough for those who are not fussy, especially when it comes to food and drinks. It is conveniently located near Havana, and the beach is nice.

Hotel Atlantico: Atlantico Hotel

I have stayed at the Atlantico many times Remember, it is only a 3 Star maybe 2 1/2 Star Hotel.. It is not a resort.. I recommend only staying in the newly renovated section. ( optional 10 CUC a night ). You get a decent room and a really nice view of the pool and beach. The beach is beautiful. The staff are very friendly. Havana is 30 minutes away. If you want to enjoy Havana and also spend time on a beautiful beach, the hotel is well located. The food is terrible. So bad Cubans won't eat t [... read more]here. I never could eat lunch or supper at the Hotel.. I would take a taxi to Guanabo ( 8 to 10 CUC ) or Havana ( 20 CUC ) to eat at a good Restaurant . Hotel is very boring. there is little entertainment if any. If you add up the cost to stay at the hotel and the traveling to eat and for entertainment, probably be the same as staying at a 5 Star resort in Cuba. Would I recommend this Hotel to a friend? All depends on what you would like to do on your vacation. I always enjoyed myself. Bottom line.. You get what you pay for.

Villa Bacuranao: too much rooms for improvement

1. I first chose this hotel is because this is only one hotel on beach in Havana, but it is pity the beach is too dirty to swim, you do not even stay on the beach ( strange many people are living by the beach, they do not love and protect it. 2. the hotel is terrible for the service, we even found blood on the bed . 3. the outside of the eating place is dirty, broken glasses everywhere, strange the hotel do not clean it. 4. when we dicided to move to hotel in downtown for the poor and dirty  [... read more]food, room, the front desk volunteered to call one tax for my familly of 4, very very small small car for 30 cucs, i negotiated to reduce to 25 cucs, still 10 cucs higher than market price. anyway, this hotel maybe suitable for young people, not for family with kids ( dirty food, dirty environment, flyes, mosquito bites )

Marazul Hotel: Changing...

Improvements over many visits during the past 8 years are the elevators always work (both!) ..the lobby and walkway lighting is much improved..and the electronic door keycards allow each person independent access. Sadly the dining room servers are fewer in number and MOST seem to think the "tip" should precede any semblence of service..I see it reversed. You can get cutlery but no napkin..and seemingly be expected to eat your soup with no spoon. I still love the building architecture , variety of travelers, and location.

Hotel Inglaterra: Great spot

We really enjoyed the hotel. The prices were reasonable and it was right in the middle of everything. The rooms were simple, and clean. I recommend getting a room with a balcony though. The buffet breakfast was pretty decent with lots of choices.

Hotel Atlantico: Pleasantly surprised

I was a bit afraid booking this place since it was only a three star hotel, but it was a definitely okay. There were no frills to be sure but it did the job. I went to Cuba for the weather and not the food, or the social life so this place was fine. I really liked the bus to Havana and went on it three times. The beach was a bit rocky and could be cleaned more often but you could walk maybe thirty metres and it was perfect (just as good as varederjos). Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Good resort

I thought it was fine--very clean and everything worked. Staff were pleasant. Beach was lovely. I loved being able to get to Havana from there. But, we thought we booked a junior suite (ie, a bedroom and living room with couch) but it was really just one big room. Also, on arrival we were given a room close to the disco which we had specifically asked not to have. We were able to move the next day. Pool was cold.

Villa Bacuranao: nothing special

One day running water was not there. I would stay there again because it's close to Havana. The food was like chicken with rice or rice with chicken. Swimming pool too noisy with the Latino music. Good bus connection to Havana.
