El Cozumeleno Beach: Absolutely loved it.

I’m going to start with the negatives however the positive far outweigh anything negative. The resort is getting old, the stairways have broken concrete and are in need of paint and repair, the rooms are very clean but the AC is very old and ours broke while we were there. It needs some money put into it to bring it back up to par. That said, the staff are absolutely amazing. The pool and eating area are right beside the ocean. The water is so clear and aqua, we loved snorkelling in the pristi [... read more]ne waters. There is a brake that prevents seaweed and harsh waves from coming into the resort area. The kids activities could have been better and there wasn’t any entertainment when we were there however far from a dealbreaker for us. We travelled with our 3 girls aged 8, 13 and 14 and it was a most memorable trip that we would be happy to do again. Cozumel is pretty safe as far as Mexico goes. We rented a car and toured the island and Mayan ruins. Next time we will go downtown. When you arrive at the airport and after getting through border security and customs go straight to your Air Canada rep (if you are lucky enough to fly with them). She will be waiting outside wearing a red Air Canada shirt. She will get you setup with your shuttle to the resort (only 10 minutes away). Otherwise you risk getting bothered by the ATA (Dreams) time share people or other taxi services that you will have to pay for. Also, there will be an Air Canada rep at the resort everyday twice a day to respond to any questions or info on coming back home. Bring lots of US$ singles and tip the workers (room service, servers, cooks etc…) they make your stay wonderful yet they are paid so little. A little goes a long way. Also bring Mexican Pesos and or US$ to pay for any outings. Everything runs on cash. The workers wear masks but we didn’t have to for anyone concerned with Covid. If you don’t like what is being served at the buffet there is a menu you can order from that has more American style food. Be prepared to wait a while longer if kitchen is busy. Also bring some closed shoes, long pants and t shirt or long sleeves to reserve and enjoy The Veranda fancy restaurant. You must reserve your spot starting at 8 am with Roberto near the front desk. Roberto can also set you up with any car rentals or outings you want to do. When dealing with the front desk, see some of the older more experienced employees if you want it done right. I am a bit emotional writing this as it was such an enjoyable experience. I hope you enjoy it too.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Relaxing Resort

This was the 6th time my wife & I were at Iberostar Cozumel .The resort facilities were well maintained, the staff was very friendly & attentive and the food was well prepared. For people looking for a relaxing, somewhat quiet vacation, this is the place to consider. The large pool is at a 4 foot depth throughout,and it was never crowded ( only the swim up bars at various times).Since many guests are divers, the overall atmosphere is more subdued. Our only disappointment was with the speci [... read more]alized dining restaurants which had scaled back their evening menus. Besides the more limited choices in the Mexican & Chinese restaurants, the previous steak house has become a smoke house which only provides a pre-determined main course. Hopefully this will change, since many visitors were echoing similar sentiments.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Great experience!

The staff at the hotel was very helpful and friendly! The building and room, as well as the dining area were very clean(I'd only suggest they lay out table cloths or mats before serving our meals). We enjoyed our meals. I went with my sister on a sibling getaway and we genuinely had a marvelous time. If I end up going back to that particular location in Mexico, I'd choose to stay at this hotel.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Fantastic Stay!

We stayed at Secrets Aura Cozumel from June 14-June 28 and had a wonderful time! My hubby and I haven’t been away together in 12 years without kids. So we chose an adults only resort. There were a couple bumps and I want to get them out of the way first. We booked a swim up room that was behind and above the Manatee bar pool. We had a slide down into the pool that was great! Unfortunately it was turned off for 5 days during the first week. They also had a problem with Mustard Algae in the [... read more] pool that week too. We chose not to swim in the pool for 3 days because the algae was so bad. They worked hard on it and got the pool all clear in a few days. We still had 2 other pools to enjoy! We spoke to Carlos at the front desk about our issues and he upgraded us to an ocean view room that had a gorgeous view of the ocean and second pool! Now for all the good stuff! The rooms were clean and well kept. The air conditioning worked all the time. The bed was comfortable and the bar fridge was stocked daily The room service was great. Though it does take about 45 minutes to get your order. The grounds were being all trimmed up as it was spring and the plants we’re growing like crazy. It was quite beautiful to see all the flowers and greenery. The pools were very clean and the beach was fabulous! It is a coral beach so have water shoes for the rough sand. I snorkelled right on the beach and saw some very nice fish. The food was fantastic! We liked everything we ate at all the restaurants. We had a romantic dinner on the beach with our own private waitress. The waitress was perfect and meal was scrumptious. The view at sunset was breathtaking!!! All the staff were the best! Wilberth and Angel at the Manatee bar you rock! The hostesses Nataly(Oceana), Veronica(Market buffet), Rosanna(windows), Esmeralda(El Patio) were beautiful and greeted us and seated us quickly. Our waiters Miguel, Mario(Oceana), Julio, Jesus and Sergio(Market buffet), Juan(El Patio) we’re quick and friendly waiters. We always had something to drink and the food came quickly. Paulina from guest services came around the pool area a few times during our stay to make sure if everything was going well with our vacation. Ruben from Fantasy Travel Excursions helped us plan our day trips and arrange transportation to the airport because we extended our stay and has to get our own taxi. Everything was wonderful all in all. We were treated like family and welcomed back by everyone, and we will be back!! Thank you all for the best vacation we could have😍

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: 3.5 star at best!

A reasonably good break after 2 vacation starved years! Chose Iberostar Cozumel based on the the reviews which seemed to rate it well and because it presented also as a Dive Resort. However, while the 2-storey quad accomodation units blend beautifully into the L/scape and the rooms though dated are clean, in almost every other department it was mediocre at best. Food was ok but never 4 star, and repetitive. Buffet probably had the best to offer, after the Steak Restaurant which was actually quit [... read more]e good. The Mexican and Oriental restaurants were sub par and a huge dissappointment - give them a miss! While general landscaping is decent and clean the beach unfortunately is extremely rocky and dicey to negotiate getting into the water - this was across the entire length of the beach line and beyond, and snorkeling was hopeless except for the shoal of fish under the jetty. Did not use the pool, so won't comment. Too few beach Palapas and you have to scramble early to find a decent shade spot. For Scuba diving Cozumel is one of the best places to go (no matter which shop you dive with) but I just could not take in the cramped 20+ divers to one boat Dressel operation which ran like a busy Bus Stop.from the pier, dawn to dusk and into the night. Hotel Staff made a good effort with their nightl and day entertainment. Would I go to Iberostar again? No.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Very average

Small pools. Chairs broken. No chairs available unless up at 9 am. Buffer is outside and poor at best. Rooms are good. Food is average and room service excellent. Good staff though and always pleasant. Need water shoes for beach. All coral

Very much enjoyed the resort. Food was excellent, friendly staff, comfortable rooms. I forgot my water shoes so wasn’t in the ocean as much as I’d hoped. I’d definitely return with shoes in hand. The resident flamingos were a plus.

Occidental Cozumel: Wonderful Resort

This was our second time and never disappoints. Beautiful beach, very clean, super friendly, lots of food options. Our westjet rep was great and helped us with a tour to the Tequila Factory. Upon arrival our room was ready.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: A very pleasant stay

Very pleasant surroundings. Small, 4-unit buildings scattered throughout a well maintained tropical park with stone paths and lush vegetation around. Clean swimming pools, lobby area, a spacious buffet restaurant with no walls - airy and open. Excellent food. Crystal clear sea water with lots of fish visible (unless there are waves – then visibility drops). The best access to the water is from a pier due to coral rocks at the water edge. You can arrange snorkel trips (55 U$ per person)  [... read more]to be picked up from the hotel pier. Hobie catamarans available free of charge if you are comfortable to operate them yourself.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Excellent resort

Check in was quick just be aware there is an island fee of about $50/week. they take a room deposit of $150 which is returned at the end of your stay. Everything was very clean, all staff wore masks and were continually cleaning the floors as well as the tables and chairs. Staff was very friendly and were constantly asking, at the beach and pool, if you wanted anything to eat or drink. They served people the same whether or not they were being tipped. The snorkeling right off the beach wa [... read more]s good however if you went down the beach, go in by the Westin hotel and you could just float along the reef back to El Cozumeleno. The option of an a la carte supper was great, food was excellent with a lot of variety and the menu changed every two days. The service form the wait staff was awesome particularly the Maitre D - Jaime. Testing for covid was easy with a rapid test result in 2 hours and a certificate provided for proof. We would definitely go back.

The Hotel was big in size very clean. The location was good and the beach and pools were beautiful, the ocean was clean and gorgeous. The food had no taste and often had no real limes, I saw cans of pineapple instead of fresh pineapple. Lack of variety of food. The kitchen ran out of guacamole almost everyday and no fresh avocados or mangos was available Only one choice of wine( house blend) even though there was an empty Merlot bottle advertised. Great with omelette stations and great worker [... read more]s.Loved that they brought in the espresso machine as the one in the bar kept breaking. The workers was friendly, safe,efficient and hard workers. I did noticed that the supervisor or managers seemed unfriendly and harsh towards workers. The hotel rooms was spacious but run down. Leaking air conditioning Water pressure was bad in the showers. The Ceilings had water damages and smelled like mildew.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great Vacation Getaway

We've been on vacations to Mexico but this was our first time staying in Cozumel. In summary, we were not disappointed. The Iberostar property is clean, has very friendly staff and well maintained. Our room was on the second level of one of the cottages and although a bit small, was very clean and well appointed. We ate at all the restaurants and found to be fresh and delicious. Our daughter is vegetarian and had no trouble finding items to eat. We never had an issue getting loungers on the beach although the finding a vacant pair around the pool after lunch was a challenge. Evening entertainment was fun and took place both in the main lobby followed by a variety of live shows in the open air theatre. We are a family of divers and enjoyed the onsite Dressel Dive shop. Its easy to see why Cozumel is such a popular scuba location. The beach was the only disappointment. Although clean and sandy, you'll need beach shoes to save your feet from the rocks when entering the water. Snorkelling at the resort was sub-par with the only fish found by the boat dock. That said, the beach itself is very clean and suitable for shoreline walks. We'd recommend this resort to our friends and family.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Nice small resort!

Pros. Very clean everywhere. Rooms in the older building are huge. The staff was amazing. Very efficient, very helpful, very friendly. Small resort so easy to navigate. You could book an a la carte every night. The food there was very good. Beach was kept clean. Good snorkeling right off the beach. The water was clear. Very nice clean pools. Close to town. Good WiFi in the lobby. We did enjoy our stay. Cons. Check-in was terrible. Took almost an hour. Beach was VERY small. Only 21 palapas for [... read more] 250 rooms. The buffet was very limited. Food was just OK. No night entertainment (because of Covid?). The beach to the left or to the right was not walkable. Tons of seaweed. Always a sewer smell in the air. There is a water treatment plant just down the road.

Zel Cozumel: Great place to relax!

Resort had lots of helpful and friendly staff. Both Al a carte restaurants were good and buffet had lots to choose from. Beach was great but when the wind is high lots of seaweed makes the water murky but still swimmable. Beware of large rocks in water. If you walk a small distance on the beach passed the break walls the water is chrystal clear. The resort was very clean and the COVID protocol was in order. This hotel isn't huge but very spaced out and laid back. ATM's are not abundant so [... read more] bring Mexican Pesos and American$$. Also, the bank machines on Cozumel charge a fee as well as a percentage of $$ you withdraw. Beware!! Bring cash and use credit cards for activities. Did some excursions outside of hotel and rented a car for sightseeing. Island seemed very safe. Bring bug spray!! At dusk the mosquitoes are plentiful. All in all was a good get away. Antigen testing was easy for our departure. You just have to book with hotel and was $36 US. Our trip was Feb.22 to Mar 1/22

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: a nice resort

The resort has lush plant life and a lot of pools and the ocean. The people were very friendly and helpful. The food was just okay, the a la carte restaurants were a little better except the Seafood restaurant which did not have seafood on its dinner menu. Occidental Cozumel: Wonderful resort & staff!

A wonderful smaller, intimate resort with lots of lush green plants and trees making for a calming and serene environment. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, especially the a la carte restaurants. The rooms, pool, restaurants, bathrooms were always spotless and covid protocols were always in place which was reassuring. Beach & pool area was beautiful and well maintained.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Good Time!

This is an older hotel that seems to be just holding on. Ok value for the money. Check in was very slow. Many people we spoke to stood in line for 2 hours or more. They were not offered any refreshments at all and when they went to the bar for something they were denied and told they needed a bracelet. Not very welcoming. Strangely they also took a $150 deposit on a credit card to pay for 'incidentals". Room was clean enough but very dated. we upgraded our room to get a coffee maker and a fr [... read more]idge. Thought we would get a stocked fridge but all we got all week was water. Cleaners were very good. With the room upgrade we were supposed to have beach towels in our room. We had to hunt them down ourselves. Also told to leave our beach towels in the room and they would be changed daily. We tried this once, they took the towels and did not leave us new ones...once again we had to head to the front desk for beach towels. our A/C stopped working on day 2 and took till day 4 to be fixed after asking at least 3 times. Buffet was the same every day for lunch or dinner. Very disappointing food for Mexico. They did have a menu you could order from that was better but they did not always have what you wanted. we went into town a few times and found some great food. Spoke to many people frustrated with the beach towel situation. They never seemed to have enough and some folks could not even get a towel for the first few days. For you Canadian travelers it felt a lot like a 3 star Cuban resort a lot of the time. The beach area at the hotel was very nice, especially when you compared it to the surrounding beaches. Lots of smelly seaweed washing up on shore that seems like a never ending story of cleanup. The break walls around the resort seems to keep the water calmer and cleaner then the surrounding area. If it was calm you could see an abundance of fish so snorkelling can be fun. Seemed like enough beach chairs and places to sit most of the time. The staff were amazing for the most part - the bartenders and waiters were very attentive and the cleaning staff, both for the rooms and the grounds were very hard working and did an amazing job. Overall we had a good time at the hotel and would recommend the hotel to folks on a budget and not to expect to much.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Nice Resort

This was my second time to El Cozumeleno, first off it isn't a 5 star, but the staff make you feel like it is. The rooms are huge but are in dire need of a facelift, you can't beat the views as most rooms are Oceanview. The rooms don't have a fridge like most places, but you're really not in the room much. The ala Carte restaurant is a must for dinner, the food is amazing. The buffet is great for breakfast, where you can have your eggs made anyway you want or a nice omelet, you can also order [... read more] off the menu in the buffet for lunch. The grounds are kept immaculate. If you're looking for a quiet resort this is it. Not much to do after dinner, but the resort is so close to town that for a $7 taxi ride you can go find something to do. I will definitely return in the near future.

Loved the food..the staff..room was dated..but okay..will be back again..but would want lower room for husband who has just had surgery Xxxxxxxxxx x xxxxxxxxxx xcxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
