Riu Emerald Bay: Mediocre Resort

Staff were friendly but the resort was boring. The food was not good and lacked variety. The waiters are hard working as are the gardeners. Do not book excursions from Sunwing rep at the hotel. What a rip off as we paid for 2excursions and only received one excursion. Beach is rough. The night shows are average. Elevators are slow too. I most likely wont go back to this resort.

Riu Emerald Bay: Riu Emerald Mazatlan

This resort was average. I expect more from a Riu resort. The resort is very clean as well as the staff are very hard working and kind However, the pools were very cold and small All the pool lounges were saved before 7am so there was no where to sit. Too many floatation toys in the pool and most of all the food was mediocre. Nothing was true Mexican flavors. The Bamboo restaurant was better.

Riu Emerald Bay: Perfect place to escape the wild parties of Cancun

This resort is perfect for families and couples that want a quieter vacay. What really made it was the employees Eduardo the bartender and Alejandro in the buffet most employees try to learn your name and learn ur favorite drink. The poolbar is relaxing and gets lots of sun but u do need ur own music. The Sports Bar however is HORRIBLE ! U have to pay for the games that are super old and broken ! But all in all it was a lot of fun and SUPER CLEAN! I really would go back. U guys need to check out the block party that happens right next to the resort which is the band music people hear its alot of fun.

El Cid Resort Castilla: Beautiful Resort —- love the 70s design

Staff were all so lovely. Food was something to be desired, as were the standard rooms but weather, beach and old town Mazatlán made up for it all + if you are into design the 70s vibe is awesome. The best resto is definitely the Mexican one. Drinks could be boozier. Wish there wasn’t so much soliciting on the beach by vendors.

Riu Emerald Bay: Beautiful resort something for everyone

The resort is beautiful and was super great value. We enjoyed taking walks down long beach as well as visiting various pools. We could find a quiet area to read or go to the adult pool to enjoy a drink and some fun action. While we are not ones to do the various daily activities …plenty offered daily. Riu Emerald Bay: Good times, great people

The Riu knows what it takes to make a vacation an enjoyable experience. All the staff are friendly and seem to really enjoy their work. The resort is clean and well maintained. No issues with the food; made to order dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always so many food options that there's something for everyone. Activities are constantly happening all day so there's always something to keep you busy. Entertainment at night in the lounge, lobby and theater on most nights. Playa Mazatlan: Really nice place

Well let's get it out of the way first, it's not a five star by any stretch. It's a good three star , the service was great, the room was enormous and the side we were on was very quiet at night. If I were to go again I wouldn't go "all inclusive" because the buffet is only cafeteria quality and they didn't have much high quality stuff. I was expecting smoked salmon and a bit more seafood varieties but salmon isn't plentiful in these waters so i guess it's very expensive to fly it in. In any [... read more] event the food was OK and the breakfast menu provided eggs cooked to order. Pity they didn't have bacon and only had sausages if you were early out of the gate.The specialty restaurants did offer better quality but there's too much formality to get through and the portions are ridiculously small. One mouthful and the whole lot's gone! The shows were all in Spanish , in fact all of the entertainment was in Espanol so we only went the first night, after that it we just went for an evening stroll along the Malecon which is clean bright and friendly, as are most of the people you see. I guess the shows were entirely in Spanish because most of the guests are Mexican, we didn't really see anyone from Canada or the States until the start of the second week and then the place became much more enjoyable because we had someone to talk to. They were mainly from Edmonton , Calgary and Vancouver, Mazatlan being the closest tourist spot beyond the States, where I refuse to go these days. A couple of the waiters in the Terraza could do with some smile training but mostly they were really friendly, the housekeeping staff were just like your mam. Pool was great and the beach was right on the doorstep with chairs and beds readily available, beach service was really fast. We only took one tour which was in the back of a converted, open air VW beetle and it was the best day of the vacation. A charming young feller named Jorge Gonzalez ( phone #669-131-1861) took us on a 2 hour tour along the Malecon , around and beyond the old city and it only cost 600 pesos , ( he charges 300 pesos per hour) Just a wonderful time. To sum up it was a very nice experience, I would recommend it to anyone who's happy with an older place and who is prepared to take things as they come. The elevator broke down just about every day but it's only 2 floors up that you have to walk and it's not a big inconvenience.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great Beach...Fun Hotel

The rooms are great. King bed was really comfortable with a huge bathroom. Water pressure at times was a little low. Cleaners are amazing and the little animals on the bed each day was fun. Wish the specialty restaurants where al a carte instead of buffet.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great vacay for price

Large hotel, rooms were small and dated, pools were very tired w the concrete breaking off, the food started off ok but got better as the week went on, one bank machine and it wasn’t working all week, lack of excursions, entertainment was great, staff was very nice especially the entertainment staff Lower quality than other rui hotels

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay: First Class Holiday

Everything about this location was better than hoped. Great customer service in every area from reception to food services to cleaning,gardening done continually. Loved the fact we were away from city but close enough with shuttle service for any activities throughout the day and evening. Beautiful sunsets too!

Riu Emerald Bay: 3rd time is a charm!

This was our 3rd time at this resort and we will be back. I have seen some negative reviews on here and you have to remember you get what you pay for. This hotel is not the Palace but it is a great deal for the price. We have stayed at various riu resorts for the last 18 years and have not had a bad experience. Yes there is construction going on for a 300 room extension (which includes a couple of new pools and what looks like an awesome kids pool) but we did not hear the constructuon at all a [... read more]nd our room was on that side of the hotel. There was no issue with the waiting time for the elevators. The buffet has a wide selection at every meal. There is a swim up pool bar, a busier pool for activities which was a bit warmer for the kids and there was a quieter pool. There are plenty of chairs around the pool and on the beach. Visiting Mr. Lionso restaurant along the beach is a MUST. The food is outstanding. The only thing I wud recommend is that the Riu change their policy on lost/misplaced beach towels. No one is looking to steal your towels. We were travelling with teenagers and they wander around and leave things behind. Charging customers for towels that are likely rounded up at the end the day is a bit of a crime.

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay: Perfect getaway

this resort is definitely first class. Beautifully cared for grounds and flowers. Two weddings booked during our week enjoyed the spectacular scenery. Our room was perfect giving the ocean view as promised along with wonderful sunsets. Excellent variety of menu items at buffet and bistro restaurants. Wonderful beach area and fine sand for miles. Loved loved loved this resort. Customer service was amazing in every area. We will be back!

El Cid Resort Castilla: Good location

Check in was very disorganized and very loud. The resort was nice but our room sure could use a renovation. The elevators were really slow and small. The food was so so and the dining room was very big. A person had to check their coffee cups before using because they were not alway as clean as they should be. There was also two bottles of water in our room but you had to leave a donation if you were going to drink them. Housekeeping was good but they did forget to leave bath mats and face clothes. The beach was nice. The entertainment was very loud.

El Cid Resort Castilla: Paradise, great resort.

The rooms, the facility was fantastic. Food , drinks and staff went above what we expected. The only disappointment was their coupon book. What a farce. Spend $6,000.00 to save $1200.00. The location of the facility is excellent.

Riu Emerald Bay: Excellent vacation at the Riu Emerald Bay

The Riu Hotel Emerald Bay Mazatlan was our first visit to a Riu Hotel. We recieved our check in on the bus on the way to the hotel which was a bonus. I personally do not like heights and had hoped to be on a lower floor. We were on the 16th floor and I thoroughly enjoyed the views from our room. The last night we upgraded to the zaccuzi suite and now we would definatley book a zaccuzi suite for the whole vacation next time. The suite was beautiful. At first glance the hotel is very impressive. T [... read more]he hotel is situated at the north end of Mazatlan away from the noise and crowds of the golden zone which was great for us. The hotel overall is very clean, the rooms, pools, grounds and beach area very very clean and well decorated. There were ample beach and lounge chairs, we never went without. The staff is amazingly friendly and quick to serve. The guests were also well behaved. No waits at the buffet, only twice before dinner we waited for the elevator to go up from the beach and a very short wait at the bars if at all. Anytime we had an issue like a burnt out light bulb, mini bar or even when we broke a glass it was promply attended to and the front desk called within the hour to confirm our issue had been attended to. The buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious with many choices. We had dinner at the asian and the Mexican restraunt. The asian restraunt was the best asian food we have ever had at any resort we have stayed at in Mexico. As far as the construction, in the day there was little interuption from the noise. It was interesting watching the workers from our room. I am sure the additional services will enhance experiences at the Riu. I have absolutley no complaints except having to leave to go home. I would highly recommend this hotel. I would for sure stay at the Riu Emerald Bay again and all other vacations anywhere I would will have a preferance for a Riu hotel. I should mention Sunwing was great, we took 2 excursions. One was the city tour our first day and the information on Mazatlan was extremely informative. The second tour was the Sensation catamaran that showed us the ocean view of the city. Both tours were excellent. The only improvements maybe would be the enertainment and check out. The entertainment was at times not suitable for children and the dancing music was repedative. The cultural enertainment was very good, but the entertainment could use an upgrade. Big lines at check out, but when it was our turn it was quick, efficient and perefct timing. The wait and congregation in the lobby gave us time to say our goodbyes to the friends we made. There is no comparision to other hotels in Mexico we have stayed. Thank you Riu for making our first visit to Mazatlan amazing.

Riu Emerald Bay: Definitely a place id go back to

I felt the service was impecable, food was pretty good but I'm an amazing cook so I'm hard to impress. Grounds were well kept, beautiful. It was an easy place to get around with the beach being just a short walk out the front main pool areas. Cleanliness was spot on. Again the service 5 star and the staff well they make you feel like family. I thoroughly ENJOYED MY STAY THERE and would reccomend The Riu to other.

The Local Hotels Mazatlan: Great resort!

We were very happy with the resort. Food was great. We had an amazing view of the ocean from the 13th floor. I enjoyed having lunch on the 18th floor at the outdoor area. The whole place is very clean and well kept. All of the workers were friendly and happy. If u are looking for a party place this is not the place for u. But if you are looking for a quiet clean and relaxing place - this is the place! This would also be a perfect place if you are in a wheelchair. We enjoyed our stay at this resort!! Rooms are clean and staff are courteous to guests The hotel rooms are a little dated but as before resort is clean and great staff The food was very good and decent selection for breakfast lunch and dinner A little hard to book the a la cart restaurants unless booked at 730 in the morning I thought it was great value for the money!!

Playa Mazatlan: Great resort

We have just returned from our stay at the Playa Mazatlan resort in Mazatln Mexico. The resort was very nice..over the top clean..the rooms were clean and great ocean front view we had. We stayed in the middle section of the resort close to everything and away from the noise of the town and the next resorts disco,no complaints..great area( walk out the front door and you are in the golden Zone) for shopping and restaurants. The food was great and a lot of choices,no line ups..Yay.. A la carts [... read more] were all good and the staff are over the top friendly and very helpful. We sat down at the ocean in our 2 week stay so the pool area we don't know much about( but always clear blue water and full of people)except they have good burgers,hotdogs and fries. The only dislike about the resort is the they have bands that play in front of the hotel(not on the resorts property so nothing can be done by resort) they are there most of the afternoon around 3ish up and down the beach so napping time is hard to fit in..LOL.. Maybe another suggestion would be an adult pool for guests.. There is plenty of children's pools and great fun areas for children that weren't used much,not sure why,they looked fun.. Over all a great resort..Would recommend a stay at the Playa Mazatlan. I would rate it between a 4-41/2*

Riu Emerald Bay: Riu Emerald Bay-great beach resort

The grounds and and beach were immaculate. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was construction noise but the resort was large enough to find a quiet spot for the day. The night shows were entertaining and the staff knew what they were doing. The food was always warm and ready with lots of variety. My take away is, I would return to this resort. It met my expectations and was happy with my accommodations.
